Bluefish Bistrk is located right off of Columbia Pike. It is located near the Starbucks entrance of the Harris Teater which apparently will be closing their doors. When I arrived they had just opened. The hostess was very nice and brought over a glass of water in a fun cup. I went with a traditional shrimp tempura roll and a special roll called the Crunch Muffy. The Crunch Muffy was an interesting roll as it was a shrimp tempura roll with spicy mayo and mozzarella cheese melted on top. The presentation of both rolls were excellent. The Crunch Muffy was good but it felt like a lot of cheese by the second piece. I am hoping the grocery store does not effect their business as this is a place I would come to again. read more

Bluefin Bistro and Kitchen stands out as one of the better sushi spots on the Pike.. The rolls are generously packed with fish. More than other nearby options. The tun and salmon rolls are consistently solid and reasonably priced at around $9 each. I've tried the sushi box as well, which is $20. It comes with gyoza, tempura, salad, miso soup, spicy tuna rolls, and four pieces of nigiri. The box comes with variety. I also tried the omakase before, which features eight types of fish and hand roll. A great pick if you want to sample a bit of everything. And yes, I couldn't resist... Very very mixed feelings about this place It is fairly expensive - best rolls are all $18-20 each. That's a lot for such an odd area. The area is odd because the parking situation is very inconvenient. A parking garage needing an elevator and a walk around the corner. I came on a Friday night right after dinner rush. There were plenty of seats available, that being said I decided to sit at the bar. The restaurant seemed very modern and a great place for both a casual or business dinner. I ordered a sashimi dinner and appetizer and a bottle of Saki that was suggested by the waiter. Everything tasted great, fresh, and nothing seemed frozen like other places I've been. The pieces of sashimi were thick and I felt like I got a really great deal. So happy that this spot opened up near me for when I need some sushi!! The physical spot and ambiance is so cute - parking is also easy and free in the Harris Teeter lot. Big pro for this area! I got my food to go so can't speak too much to service, however I can speak on the food. I thought the portion sizes were great, and it tasted good. My one minor complaint is that the rice was extremely sticky - way too much so (perhaps something wasn't balanced when making the rice). We both got the sashimi dinner sets including both soup and salad. A huge plate with an array of chef's choice pieces were arranged. Fish was cut thick (not my favorite) but had good taste and freshness for the price point. The plate also had cut cucumber and beautifully arranged sliced apples, not super traditional but I guess it works. Soup and salad were good and I particularly liked the salad dressing. Servers were nice and attentive ( I think this place is run by Koreans bc I overheard them speaking to each other in Korean) All in all, good experience. Didn't try the rolls but the ones that the table next to us looked good. If I lived close by, might be a recurring takeout place. The food came out relatively quickly, and as we were finishing our first rolls, the server promptly asked if we wanted more. We happily ordered a few more rolls. Overall, everything tasted good and my friend and I enjoyed catching up over a nice meal. I noticed a few parties of four and a couple of two, but the venue isn't the largest, so I'm not sure how well it would accommodate larger groups. There's a private parking garage (some elevators were broken so you may want to go through the supermarket to get up.) Lunch courses were well-sized and I was full after eating my generous chirashi bowl. The sashimi special had about 11 pieces and optional bowl of rice. Everyone also got miso soup, which was good. Dinner pricing runs a bit higher ($25+ a person) but lunch items had a good selection and was around $17-20. The service was good, they were willing to split the check, provided water refills without prompting, and food came out at a steady pace. Great new sushi spot that just opened. Got the sushi dinner which had huge high quality pieces and a good variety, at a great price (see photos). Service was timely. Easy parking in the Harris teeter lot underneath. They're still working out some issues due to being new (water tasted funny due to bleach in cups, some food was delayed, part of the order was wrong) but they acknowledged this and proactively gave us a small discount which was nice. Kid friendly with ample high chairs, chopsticks for kids, kids water cups, accommodated a special kids roll. However marking 4 stars as they did NOT have a changing table in the bathroom which was very surprising and the staff said they didn't plan on getting one (even a portable one that folds up). Please put a changing table in the bathroom so people don't have to change dirty diapers on the floor!!!! Almost the entire restaurant was families with kids so sure we were not the only ones with this issue. Will definitely be back soon otherwise! read more
