    Fried chive cake
    Jada G.

The space is so gorgeous! This is such a pleasant addition to the neighborhood. 2 hour parking validation after 4pm FYI! My partner and I got a nice spread of appetizers and entrees. The chive cake and gyoza were decent, but not mind blowing. I really liked the shrimp in hot pot but I was a little confused on why it came with rice. The rice was actually so good I wished I got curry instead to take advantage of it since I had a noodle dish. The creme brulee was honestly disappointing. Between it being a bit lukewarm and no crunch on the top, it was just okay. I don't doubt the other desserts might be a little better. Service was also a bit hot and cold, but it was a quiet night for such a big space so I'll forgive them for the table management. Overall totally down to come back and try more stuff!

The food is solid here. So, decent thai food though probably not exceptional. Will return anytime. Service is good and definitely on par with restaurant at same class. The ambience is ok. Some parts are nice but other parts feel a bit cafeteria but still nice overall. Probably too special without decor in the center. Booth looks nice. Red curry - well spiced. Very rich so not the lighter thai curry that some might look for. Good though Signature Pad Thai - had cha siu for this pad thai. Not sure if it is very different from standard pad thai but I like this one quite a bit. Well seasoned but not oily Mango sticky rice - this one is just ok, texture and mango is average

Food: 5/5 + larb gai SPICY, but I liked it. I like when the spice level isn't automatically Americanized. I definitely didn't need the spice condiment tray for this. When I'm trying a new Thai restaurant, I always get the larb gai/papaya salad to see if they know what they're doing in the kitchen. Not only is the presentatiin beautiful but I could tell from the cut and taste of the minced chicken that it was ground in house. It wasn't overly cooked and was juicy from the chicken thighs incorporated into the ground meat. The best larb gai I've ever eaten and I've had a lot. + roti massaman curry with chicken SPICY, and GOOD. I've never had roti served as a waffle so at first I was like "hmmmm, I like to scoop and fold my food into the roti so IDK about this". With it being a waffle, I ate it more like a chip with guac. Hear me out. Dunk the roti waffle into the curry sauce, baptize it a bit, spoon more curry on it (like basting a steak), then add chicken and rice on top, eat like a chip. AMAZING! Because the roti is crisped, it'll hold it's shape. The presentation was immaculate. + coconut rice salad - If you like larb gai, you would enjoy this. The crispy coconut rice balls steal the show adding a nice crispy texture to the dish. In my opinion, it wasn't as spicy as the larb gai, but still spicy which I enjoyed. I kept looking at the menu after I ordered and ate my food, then finally decided to order this app, and I'm so glad I did. I don't recall ever seeing this on a Thai menu, so it's a stand out. Service: 5/5 + I made my reservation on Resy and although I arrived 40 mins there wasn't an issue (it was lunchtime on a Friday on their 5th day of being opening). + My server was appropriately attentive on a Friday during lunch hours. I only had to ask for water once (spicy food) any other time, she remember to fill my glass with water. She even remembered that I didn't want ice each time seh refilled my glass. + She said the coconut rice salad was one of her faves. + Any time I've come to one of these Pattana Restaurant Group locations, the service is always good. Can't even lie. Ambiance: 5/5 + GORGEOUS! + furniture made in Thailand + even the seating had Dok Khao branded on it (loved the attention to details) + not a grass wall vibe spot at all + CLEAN bathroom. No paper towels unfortunately (for the people who think air dryers are yucky). + trash can was empty, not overflowing like some restaurants. + the interior designers did amazing, I couldn't stop looking at how gorgeous the bar was Cons: - It's not closer to my house and now it's my new fave Thai restaurant. - Garage parking BUT they validate for 90 mins-2 hours. I don't like garage parking, but hate looking for street parking even more, so a win is a win.

Super delicious and super cute ambience. The food was sooo good. I got the crybaby noodles and a couple drinks. The food took some time to come out but it was pretty busy for Mother's Day. Will definitely be coming back. Ka!

I was super impressed and dare I say blown away by just about everything! From the Tom Ka soup right through to the Drunken Noodles - each dish we had was packed with flavours that were bold, authentic, and beautifully balanced. The service was great! Despite it being super busy - our sever was very attentive (especially on a holiday evening), and even came to let us know the kitchen was closing and if we wanted desserts, we had 10-15 mins to place the order/s. The venue itself is really unique/trendy - I would describe it as a fun, unexpected blend of a cozy French bistro aesthetic with a Thai twist--warm, stylish, and welcoming. A total gem in Old Town & I can't wait to go back!

Today, I tried the Pik Khing with beef. This is one of my go to entrees at any Thai place. Great flavors here to include a nice medium spice flavor. I have tried the Panang Curry with chicken. Very good. Normal spicy is probably too mild for me. Good flavors. I like to get a side of broccoli to add more veggies to the dish. It comes with broccoli already but I like a little more. Oh, and the decor is really nice. Love the designs inside. Very cool. Give them a try!

For us, we were talking to an artist in the Torpedo Art Studio in Old Town Alexandria, admiring the work he did. It got then we started talking about lunch as he was from Hong Kong. He mentioned we go across the street and try something he liked as it was something he would have back home. So, taking his advice we walked across the street and went to Mai Thai. It was a good suggestion. We went in and had a seat. Our waitress (a wonderful woman from Guam) gave some advice and we to some time to think. In the end we decided to start with Spring Rolls. This is the freshest sliced roll of crispy veggie combinations of lettuce, celery, mixed veggies wrapped in a thin wrap and served with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. It was truly fresh and tasty. The dipping sauce was unique and made this worth a meal by itself. Then, being a cold day outside, soup seemed to be a good thing for lunch. We selected some traditional bowls of soup. First was TOM KA. It was a combination of vegetables and tofu in a coconut broth with mushrooms and fresh herbs. The soup had a tint of white. It was light and tasty. It was at a room temperature which is the way you have soup in Thailand. It was refreshing and light. Next we had TOM YUM. This is a combination made from slices of chicken in a lemongrass soup with fresh mushrooms, cilantro, scallions, galangal, kaffir-lime leaves, and Thai spices. The broth was light and traditional. If you wanted more spice our hostess brought it to you. Again, this was the way I had it when I was working in the rural areas of Thailand. Nothing fancy. Nothing simple. It was true home cooking that was served to you in a method truly Thai. The lunch was simple, but the way you would eat in Thailand. The taste and flavor was what to expect. The team is wonderful and friendly. The price was fine. It was good to find Mai Thai. And maybe being told about it from an artists does make it true to say that "Art is in the eye (and mouth) of the beholder."

Was seated by a delightful young lady, and found the decor and layout to be quite pleasing; modest by elegant. As for the fare, it was indeed quite worth the walk. Ordered a bowl of Tom Yum and the Pad Thai Mun Goong. The Tom Yum was solid and quite flavorful, a flux of tangy lemongrass with the oniony sweetness of steeped scallions, and enoki mushrooms to provide some heartiness. The Pad Thai Mun Goong was a chef specialty pad Thai made with stir fried rice noodle, prawns shrimp tomalley oil (a crucial element for this version), egg and bean sprouts, naturally topped with green onions, peanuts and a lime for squeezing, and this also was quite phenomenal. Savory, sweet, a little tingle of sourness from the citrus in the mid-palate, and the juicy, briny shrimp balancing the dense carbs and rich flavorful sauce. All-in-all, I was well pleased this visit. As this is Padaek's second location, I hope they don't expand too much further/quickly and compromise on quality.

We were the first dine-in customers when we arrived yesterday evening. We were promptly seated and provided menus and water. Service overall was excellent. I like that you can select your choice of meat for your entrée: chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, combo, duck, seafood or salmon. I ordered the khao soi (my current go-to Thai dish) and JP ordered the Galae noodles. For an appetizer we ordered the Crispy Wontons. I picked pork for my khao soi and the khao soi was delicious. I liked the size of the pork and noodle portions as well as the slight sweetness and moderate spiciness of my dish. One of the best khao sois I've had in the DMV. JP picked seafood for his Galae noodles which contains an assortment of vegetable including carrot, green bean and bamboo shoot. The Galae noodles were spicy and excellent. Much less stellar were the crispy wontons. The menu bills these as deep fried chicken and shrimp wontons. I didn't observe or taste any chicken or shrimp. All we got were circular hollow burnt crackers. The dipping sauce was good though. Parking after about 5:30pm can be problematic in the tiny parking lot up front.
