I'm happy I gave this place a try! It looks like a little family-owned business which I always appreciate. If you are not gluten free- you can probably raise my rating to a 5 stars. They do advertise gluten free on their menu/offerings- and look how great the sticker is on my to go box! However, after eating it, I was having some slight symptoms as though I had been glutened- not my worst reaction, but definitely something. Perhaps it would be worthwhile to double check on cross contact (I don't always do that- though I'm a milder case of GF compared to some) or verifying it was tamari vs. soy sauce etc. ^Aside from this, I still enjoyed the meal!! Thai Curry has been around since 2009 in the Ballston 'hood, and they serve up some great daily specials. We saw a sign that said they had a lunch special, even offered on the weekends, which includes a regular-sized entree of choice with a drink and the dessert of the day - we couldn't pass this up! We went for: +the Pad Thai - you had the option for vegetarian or with chicken, which we opted for the latter; the noodles that they used were thin rice noodles, which we liked, prepared with palm sugar, tamarind, lime juice, fish sauce, stir-fried egg, tofu cubes sweet pickled radish, and scallions, with a side of crushed peanuts; this had good flavor, but just was not a fan of the chicken, as it was super dried out +the Drunken Noodles - you had the option for vegetarian or with chicken, which we opted for the latter; this was prepared with stir-fried flat rice noodles, basil, bell peppers, onions, and a spicy chili garlic sauce; we opted out of the tomatoes; this had a nice little kick and okay flavor; the chicken, as the prior dish, was super dried out +Thai Iced Tea - tasted slightly artificial and didn't seem to be prepared with real steeped tea +Thai Iced Coffee - had an off taste to it and didn't taste like freshly brewed coffee +Oreo cake +Pumpkin pie slice I am curious about trying their other dishes, but I'd avoid the beverages. Ordered via Uber Eats as I did not feel like cooking or driving to get something. Checked out the deals and saw Thai Curry with a BOGO on Crab Cream Cheese Rangoon (my son's fav appetizer). As a first time customer of a Thai restaurant, the litmus test is always the Thai fried rice & drunken noodle (Pad Kee Mao). We always go for chicken on both. The portions were large in their containers. There are 4 rangoons per order (8 total with 2 sauces with BOGO offer). Upon taste, they are on par with the other Thai restaurants we have tried. The only missing piece in all these dishes (especially stir fried in a Wok), the "Wok Hei". The smokey element from a REAL HOT wok is missing. I mean, all the flavors and textures of the dishes were there except the smokey flavor from the wok. This is why I take off a star. That Wok Hei is so important in Asian stir fry cooking! The Drunken Noodles were HEAVY on the garlic. Real chunks of minced garlic, so if you love garlic, you will love this dish! The Rangoons were big and perfectly fried golden brown. The filling was generous full of cream cheese. Bits of imitation crab meat are sparse. Be sure to dip it in the sweet sour sauce to cut through the fatiness & add that layer of flavor. I was hungry and my friend ordered a bunch of takeout from Thai Curry, so I tried some of the PANANG CURRY (16.44 with chicken according to their online menu) which was nicely spiced and creamy from the coconut milk base. Each order came in a 32 oz. container that had plenty of chicken and other ingredients like peppers and basil. If done correctly, you really could split this into 2-3 meals given the amount they give you. I haven't been to Thai Curry during the few years I lived in Ballston, but glad to have tried a reliable panang curry (which is one of my favorite Thai entrees) in the neighborhood that's reasonable in pricing and comes in big portions. Ordered dinner on a Sunday night thru UberEats. Food was made quickly and was still hot when I got it! I ordered the Papaya Salad (spicy) and a tofu Pad Thai (spicy). The papaya salad was okay. The spice was perfect but the salad itself had a weird after taste that I usually don't taste eating other papaya salads. I'm still not sure how to pinpoint it to what it could have been. The Pad Thai was also just okay. Portion size was really big and they did not hold back on the tofu, but the flavor was lacking a bit more sweetness in my opinion. Let me start by saying that I love the food, I've been ordering from this place for years and I've had most of the menu. However in the past few months I noticed that the portions for the curry have been reduced by about half of what you used to get without a change to the price. To the owner I would recommend changing the pricing to reflect the reduced quantity, increasing the price and resuming the original quantity, or I would find a middle ground between these two options. I know inflation is hitting hard but for customers who have been supporting you for years I don't think this was the right decision. I should have looked at the Google reviews before ordering from this restaurant on Uber eats. Absolutely look nothing like the photo. My eggs had eggshells in it so I was crunching on eggshells which was absolutely disgusting. The fried rice had zero sauce on it. It only had pepper and veggies so it lacked flavor. I also ordered two other noodle dishes, which were OK. The tofu was absolutely disgusting. It was full of oil and extremely hard and chewy. I was not even able to swallow it. Please stay away from this Restaurant one of the worst restaurants I've ever had the displeasure of ordering from. I'm so disappointed now I'm hungry and $40 down the drain. Also I didn't get any utensils which was extremely annoying especially since I'm at a hotel. There was no option to request utensils on uber eats. Went there today and got almost all of the specials. I got tofu for the protein and it was not good. It's the spongy type of tofu, which I don't like. I should have paid extra for chicken. Chocolate cake was too sweet, I only ate like 50 cent worth. So glad this was 50% off today. I also got the 50% off steamed dumpling and it was really bad, I only ate one. I would have to say this food was really good for me and my co-worker just looking through Yelp trying to see which this place we going to chose from. So with anything you know the prices going to be a little higher than going to the actual restaurant when you ordering delivery. I went through ChowNow which states all monies go to the restaurant and not half to like the other services. So I order enough food to last me for dinner and my lunch for the next day at work. My order consisted of spicy pineapple fried rice with chicken and shrimp, a chicken wonton soup spicy, garlic noodles extra spicy with chicken, and a thai tea. Now the food was real good, fresh, and hot so I would give them a 3.5 maybe even 3.75 stars because we ordered when they first opened so to get the freshest food possible. Reason for the lower stars is because there was no silverware in the bag. Now we are ordering at work so I didn't know nowadays you have to ask for plastic ware to be with your food. I love love love the Thai food here! They serve Lo Mein which is great because my boyfriend loves Lo Mein and I love Pad Thai! They have amazing Pad Thai! Thai Curry is my go to Thai restaurant. Last night we got the veggie spring rolls, chicken pad Thai, green curry, tofu soup and wonton soup. The tofu soup had a lot of tofu pieces, which justifies the price (almost $7, which we were a little weary about when we first ordered it). The wonton soup isn't like a Chinese restaurant's, the noodle part is much thinner and the filling is a little denser. It was fine, not sure I need to order it again. The spring rolls had a surprising spiciness to them that we weren't expecting but not too spicy where they were inedible. The entrees are also great. We asked for extra eggplant in the curry, which they added, and for a side of steamed veggies for the pad Thai. The veggies included cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, and broccoli. They didn't have any seasoning at all so definitely need to add it to the dish. But 10/10 as always. read more

The food was overly tasty while the quantities were... misleading. Their delivery menu said "Sesame Crispy Chicken $19.95 Buy 1, Get 1 Free. Seeing that, I think it would be reasonable to assume I would be getting two $20 dinner portions for $20. What I got were two lunch-sized servings. And as for the meal(s), there was almost no sesame taste, the closest the dish got to crispy was the gumminess of the overly sweet and under hot sauce where it was caramelized on pieces of the chicken. Ordered here a few times from Uber Eats and have always enjoyed what we've gotten. Most recently I ordered the Massaman Curry Chicken, Medium Spicy and Pad See Ewe with Beef, Little Spicy. I loved the flavor of the Massaman Curry Chicken. There was minimal potato, but lots of chicken and a good ratio of sauce to rice. I love spicy food and next time I will kick it up a spice level. For the Pad See Ewe with Beef, it had amazing flavor. Some of the noodles were a bit burnt that really were delicious. The beef was a bit tough, so next time I will order without a meat option. Prefacing this with they have really good food - we've been ordering from here for 7 years. However, recently their use of plastic containers has been really concerning me. Every time we get our food now, the plastic has been melted around the food because the food is so hot. From their plastic rice dishes to the black plastic they use for their entrees (which, as many know now, black plastic is really bad for you) to the sauce cups they use for dumplings. So much melted or conformed plastic. We are unfortunately going to stop ordering from here so we don't continue to put our family at risk. I'm so sad because the food is so so good. read more

Cool Thai spot, in one of the oddest locations! What a great find!? Stumbled on this place by luck. After trying to hold on to my New Year's resolutions and eat health, I bypassed the neighboring McDonald's and enticing Popeye's.....and found this place! I've passed this place many of times and never even noticed it...until I was in a lunch mood for something different and my eyes caught a glimpse of it as I crossed the light, passing this place in my car. It's sort of hidden from the main road and not the most noticeable eating spot. Thai Curry is located in a small shopping center space that resemble something out of the 50's, but by far nothing once you step inside this place says 50's! It's modern, clean and has a unique dining space. The menu is filled with most of the quintessential items one would find at all the typical Thai spots around the city. One thing I would say, that made this place standout is the lunch menu for sure. A full menu of great lunch eats to choose from for only $7.95! On the day I came here, I tried the Spicy Basil Eggplant dish and Tom Yum Soup. Both items were delicious...really good. As part of the lunch special, spring rolls and a small salad are included. Not a bad bargain for the price. The food was fresh, flavorful and the portions were pretty good. Of the two dishes, the spicy eggplant dish was definitely a standout. It came out pipin' hot and full of spicy-garlicky flavor. In all, I must say I was impressed. Initially, I was not expecting much being that I was the only one in there during the lunch hour, which is typically not a good sign....but, this was not the case. Clearly the location of this place is not the best and makes it not as visible from street view. I could not put my finger on why the place was empty....because the food was delicious!! With such great menu options, lunch special prices on the cheap and happy hour offerings at only $3 to $4 a bite or drink!!...Thai Curry is more than noteworthy. There are many mysteries in the world - who my dad is, why my ex-girlfriend left, and what the fox says. Among those mysteries is also how this place manages to stay in business. I was very tempted to write a bad review the first time I had it, but waited until a second time because first impressions are always unfair. The first to know is that it's take-out only. No dining-in. I am okay with that. But the most important to know is that it doles out some of the most offensive-tasting Pad Thai and Tom yum - the very basics of Thai cooking - I have ever had. I just ordered the beef Pad Thai and chicken Tom Yum and I declare it inedible. It tasted as if it were made by Sara-Beth from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, who learned how to make it on a local cable access channel on a Saturday afternoon. It lacks in depth and any flavor profiles - both the noodles and meats were chalky with no resemblance of anything that comes close to Pad Thai. Tamarind sauce in your Pad Thai? Forget about it! A bit more spices to make your Tom Yum taste a bit better than watery $.30 noodles you get at 7-Eleven? You ain't getting it here. There are multiple other Thai places in Arlington to dine at. I used to come here all the time before quarantine, but now I order from here a fair bit and it always comes hot and on time. The service is great (waiters are super nice and polite), and the menu is vast, which is a little suspicious, but everything that I've gotten has been fantastic. My favorites are the ka praw, pad see sew, and any of their curries. The ka praw and noodles are great for takeout, and their curries are great for eating there.
