The beef is hit or miss. I would stick to seafood. Everything tastes fresh, flavorful and authentic. We were excited to try Sugar Plam for the first time. And our first experience did not disappoint! I like their signature dish, the Kao Soi Kai. This is a red curry paste containing pieces of chicken dark meat on the bone plus egg noodles. Also tucked in the bowl to the side of the paste is a mesh of fried egg noodles. Accompanying the Kao Soi is a little ceramic tray topped with sliced shallot, mustard greens and ground chile,. I do wish that the curry paste wasn't so thick. The Drunken Noodles with seafood is very good. Service is warm and friendly, with hearty good-byes from the staff. Unfortunately, the rest of the service has not been tip-top on our last two visits. Today our server was distracted by a toddler in her care and never checked on us after she delivered our orders. We never saw her again until she, and this is a big no-no for me, brought us the check before asking if we wanted anything else. We actually did want to try the Mango Sticky Rice and the Thai iced Coffee, but oh well. I'm hesitant to mention this final point, but the men's room was dirty with toilet paper strewn all over the floor. It was obvious it had been some time since it had last been cleaned. But having said that, we would like to give Sugar Palm another chance because our first visit here was truly stellar. read more

I was in the area and was looking for a place to sit down and have a quick dinner. I decided I wanted some Thai food and found Sugar Palm. The restaurant was quite empty except for one or two tables that were occupied. It didn't give me a great feeling, but it was a week night so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Service was quick and they came to take my order soon after I was seated. I ordered the kao soi from their menu which I enjoyed along with the spring roll that they brought out. Came in here really late one evening about 10 minutes before they were closing, and they were so kind and accommodating allowing us to take the time that we needed to complete our meal. Service was wonderful and the food was tasty. Also ordered on GrubHub and wanted to include the spicy condiments so I called them directly and they were so gracious and willing to help add the condiments to my order. I think they put ONE TEASPOON of the cream cheese/crab mix in each little fan thing. These are not crab rangoons. 2. The pad Thai was a large portion. Nice! The food is good, but the prices recently increased by 25% and the portion sizes have gotten smaller. Not only that, but they used to have an app that allowed you to earn points and redeem them on your total bill. For some reason they have removed this feature. TLDR: smaller portion sizes and charging 25% more than they used to - not a good way to retain customers. read more

The worst delivery service ever. We ordered for lunch today, a $215.00 order. Delivery was made as scheduled, but we received less than half of what was originally ordered. The remainder of the order didn't arrive until an hour later - our frustration was compounded by us being located less than a mile away from the restaurant. The food was cold, the spring rolls were soggy, and the lemongrass soup was spilled all over the bottom of the bag. Multiple calls to the restaurant we're met with a "not our problem now" and "we'll get to it when we get to it" attitude. We will never order from this poorly managed restaurant again. read more

Me and my girlfriend came here after a long day of moving furniture into my new apartment across the street. This place was unassuming and had that atmosphere/feeling any other thai restaurant you've been to has. The fried shrimp spring rolls were so delicious we wanted more! I do love their menu and I've been a customer for years but lately there are so many inconsistencies and there is no number to call. When you call the advertised number it immediately disconnects. Each time I order food the items are different every time - sometimes as expected and good and sometimes the opposite.. And when I order delivery they frequently miss an item. This last time I ordered through uber eats - spring rolls were missing, there was so much fish sauce all over the bag. And the papaya salad was again totally different and mostly peanuts. They need to train their staff to be more consistent. In the meantime there are so many great Thai places around that I feel totally fine taking a big long break from this place. read more

I ordered the X2 Salmon Panang Curry and wow, I am impressed! The grilled flavor, cooked to perfection, the sauce and the vegetables is a chef's kiss. My daughter ordered the Grilled Pork Chops with dipping sauce and Rice. The grilled flavor was really there and the meat is so tender. Ended our dinner with Mango Sticky Rice dessert. The food at this place is good (depending on what you get). I got 2 pad Thai and 1 papaya salad. The pad Thai was really good. I was surprise when they use a different type of rice noodle to make the pad Thai. Normally it's the thick wide noodles, but here they use a thinner rice noodles. Surprisingly, it was really good, the noodles was still really good due to the decent seasoning. The meat on the other was another story, I suck it up and ignore how dried my pork was because the seasoning was too good. The chicken wasn't too dry so next time skip the pork pad Thai and get another meat. The papaya salad was such a disappointment though, I thought any Thai restaurant can do decent papaya salad because it was a basic dish, but I was so wrong. The salad was so bland, and the papaya was shred so thick, and it wasn't fresh, so the color wasn't green and it was hard to chew. I recommend skipping the Thai papaya salad here. The price at this place is pretty decent, it is pretty affordable. The food was cooked really fast and I would come here again for pad Thai. read more

I definitely am a Thai food eating person. Sugar Palm is very nicely decorated with modern furniture. The staff was very nice. The restaurant has new ownership and the current owner stopped by our table to ask our opinion about the restaurant and the food. I actually liked and appreciated the concern of a caring owner. Everyone that is working there is Thai...which is something else that I like. I want authentic Thai food. I ordered Ka Prao pork; which in english is basil pork....this was definitely one of the better Ka Prao's. I requested in between American Spicy and Thai spicy...They will adjust the spice level. The flavor of the Ka Prao sauce was perfect. Overall, I was happy with the choice to eat there....Very clean restaurant, friendly staff, caring owner, and excellent food. I will be back to try the curries....I am definitely looking forward to it. Ordered from this place during the covid lockdown. Delivery came pretty much right on time. I saw a lot of reviews for this place so I thought I would try here since I haven't tried before. Man was I disappointed from the food here. The pad see ew noodles were overcooked and just broke when you picked it up. There was hardly any chew to it. The ingredients in the dish might have been stale or old as I could taste the lack of freshness of the ingredients. The basil fried rice should be a pretty standard Thai dish, but again, this dish was so poorly constructed. The rice felt like it was undercooked, the taste of the chicken was not fresh at all. Another great dining experience. The serving sizes are huge. The amount of meat in our entrées was insane. This is now our new favorite Thai restaurant in this area. The Panang Curry was absolutely delicious with hudge chunks of pot roast inside, which was a first, but I will say this was not a typical Panang Curry. You could not taste coconut milk or peanut flavor. This was more of a Khao Soi base. Maybe they thought I wouldn't know. Different but delicious! I ordered this from GrubHub while staying in town. Even with a decent delivery time, everything was hot and fresh. Why I say it's different is because the chicken Pad Thai was made with thin noodles and was definitely on the more savory side. Not saying it's bad at all, just not what I'm used to! Still very tasty and the portions were great! I looked at pics here on Yelp and I feel like I did get a different type of noodle. No worries though, still enjoyed it. I also grabbed their summer rolls. I like these with a good peanut sauce. Sugar Palm's summer rolls comes with two sauces. A clear, maybe vinegar type sauce, then peanut sauce. I wasn't a huge fan of their peanut sauce. It was very very sweet. Almost like brown sugary? I preferred the clear sauce that had a slight heat. Much better flavor with the veggies in the wrapper. I'm sorry Yelp family, I should've reviewed Sugar Palm years ago. Forgive me? I have gone to this restaurant several times and it always hit the mark. The down side of this restaurant is the parking lot is trash. It is a small parking lot and always packed. You can park in a nearby garage for a small fee, but I take a hard pass on that. Like Kristin Wiig said in Bridesmaids, "help me, I'm poor." I'm not in actuality, I'm just extra cheap. When we went here recently and in general, the service is prompt and courteous. On this recent occasion, I ordered a Long Island (shout out to my drinking lushes out there!). I got it quickly and it was yummy. My friend beat me to the restaurant. She was eating her fingernails, she was so hungry. So, when I arrived, the calamari came shortly after as she ordered it prior to my arrival. The calamari (which I've had before) is yummy! It comes with lettuce and has a sweet and delicious sauce on the actual calamari. It is bomb.com. The softer texture of the calamari, with the crispy lettuce is a texture explosion. I ordered Pad See Ew (stir fried noddle with egg & Chinese broccoli in sweet brown sauce) with both chicken and shrimp. My friend got the same thing, but with only chicken and she added green and red peppers. I also got a side of white rice as I like the contrast of the noodle, with the firm rice. The meal was delicious. Large portion, well seasoned and a must-try! I must say that our food came out lickety-split. I'm not clear how they made our food so fast, lol. Went for lunch around 12:30 on a Monday. We were the only ones who ate in the whole time, other than a couple people at the bar. Seems like more of a takeout place, at least during the day, so if you want a quiet spot to eat, this could be it! The entrees were excellent. I ordered Ka Prow with beef and asked for it spicy. It was the perfect level of spice. Usually I have to still ask for a spice tray at most restaurants, and this is the first time it was just right. The portion was huge. My mom got Panang Tofu and the curry was creamy & thick and the tofu was that perfect spongy texture. The portion actually seemed a little small for the panang, especially because we received the dinner menu (not sure if there was a lunch menu -- I forgot to ask) The fried tofu appetizer was boring. The texture of the tofu was really good and the sweet & sour sauce was tasty, but there wasn't enough of it to cover the bland tofu. I wouldn't order that one again. The service was very friendly, but not attentive. All in all great food, and I would order takeout here again, but probably wouldn't sit in; at least for lunch. read more

Food: 5/5 Ease of Order: 5/5 I had ordered Crispy Duck Basil, and it was heavenly! I asked for the duck to be extra crispy since it was a to-go order, and they delivered that request perfectly. I had walked in and within the first few seconds, I was greeted by an employee. After I told them it was my first time there, they provided a few recommendations, such as their Pad Thai and the Crispy Duck Basil. When I ordered, I was informed it would take about 15 minutes, and I could wait for the food at a table. It took the time they had stated, and I left the establishment afterwards. There is also parking in front of the place (for 15 minutes) if you're planning on picking up an order. The duck had the perfect amount of saltiness and seasoning. It was served with a bell pepper sauce dip and steamed rice. The duck came wrapped in foil in a plastic container to keep the food warm. It was slightly oily but that added to the flavor of the duck. There was additionally a fish sauce-pepper dipping sauce combination to eat with the duck if I preferred something a little more salty. The duck had a crunchy exterior but the meat inside was pretty tender. When paired with the reddish-brown sauce on the side, the dish was rich in flavor and a little spicy.
