Seoul BBQ is a modern, upscale Korean BBQ restaurant in the quieter side of the Springfield Plaza. Located behind the Whole Foods and Trader Joes, Seoul has plenty of lot parking and less chaos. The interior is wide and open, the TVs play K-Pop music videos to keep the spirits up, and everything is clean and emmaculate. The restaurant offers both entree meals and Korean BBQ. There is no unlimited Korean BBQ options, so you can pick from either the a la carte options or the pre-set combos. The meat quality is very good and is delicious even without a marinade. Your server will be the one to prep, cook, and cut your meats, so you don't need to worry about the internal temperatures. The banchan assortment is varied and delicious and compliments whatever meats you order. I have not seen the place really busy before. Granted, I've shown up at a fairly early dinner hour (5-6:30 PM) on the weekends, but I haven't seen more than two other tables filled. I'm assuming they get busier the later on it gets, but the plus of showing up early is never having to worry about getting a table and service. They do seem to do a decent amount of to-go orders though. I see folks coming in for pick-up through my meal service. Owner expects you to grill by yourself on top of charging a premium, so the meat got burned bad. That's unlike every Korean BBQ I've been to. The owner brushed off our complaint like it was our problem for not knowing we were supposed to cook ourselves. Wtf! Ordered the beef combo for 3-4 people, cold and spicy buckwheat noodles, kalbi soup and dolsut Bibimbap. Meat quality was good. Portion was smaller than other BBQ combos I've had for same amount of people. Buckwheat noodles were over cooked and soup base was ok. More radish,cucumber and pear would of been better. I ate here for dinner last night. The restaurant is in a strip mall and when you walk in, all the tables have a grill. You can order raw ingredients and cook them on the grill, but you can also order individual dishes off the menu. Ordering raw food looked cool, but it's expensive; I think the grill packages started at $100; for that I assume you get multiple different kinds of food and enough for several people, but still. My friend and I both ordered the bulgogi (beef). Our food came on a hot iron plate (skillet?) with a bowl of white rice each and 4-5 smaller dishes to share. I don't know what all these were but one was kimchi and another was like kimchi but with cucumbers. The food was good, all of it. It would have been nice if they'd given us just a little more rice, but other than that, it was great and our entrees included a good amount of food. My friend got extra rice but they charged him $4 for it. Although the food was good and plentiful, the service wasn't great. Once we got our food, the only time anybody came by was when my friend got his extra rice and when we got the check. We had to send him back to redo our check because he got our request from across the room and didn't know we wanted separate checks. This was on a night when I'd say no more than 4 tables were occupied at a time. So the overall experience was good but the service was subpar. read more

Top notch. I am Korean, and this is my favorite KBBQ restaurant. For a party of 2.5 (two adults and a toddler), we ordered beef and pork combo #2 and left with our tummies contently full. The brisket was a nice, thicker cut than typical kbbq restaurants. All cuts were mouthwatering good, and pairs perfectly with the three sauces (salt, ssamjang, brisket soy sauce). All of the side dishes were tasty. This is a fully serviced bbq. The owner grills the meat perfectly for you. Overall, the service is what reminds me of home. Not superficial or loud. The bulgogi we ordered was flavorful but it was too salty. The banchan (side dishes) that came out was ok, I see the servers taking it out from their cart on the side which I don't know if it's refrigerated or not. Everyone had the runs when we got home. The way Samghyupsahl was sliced was pretty. Unlike other places, there wasn't excessive smoke or popping of the oil at the table. Bibimbop was good. Soondubu Chigae was a bit too sweet for my taste. Soy bean stew was very good though. One of my daughters ordered Nangmyun but the owner came out to apologize that it wasn't available that day. Rice came with the orders. Lately, I've seen Korean restaurants charge extra for rice. I think that's crazy. Although their 2 TVs had pop playing, it wasn't as loud as other places. The service was good too. I lived in Korea for five years, and I have tried all of the Korean barbecue restaurants in the surrounding area. This ranks up there at the very top and the fact that it's so clean and close to my house is a huge bonus. I like the small touches, like putting butter on the cooking surface before you start cooking the meat... It helps season the cooking surface and prevents sticking... you won't leave hungry as there are lots of side dishes and plenty of lettuce too, which you won't find at all of the restaurants around here. Based on reviews of my fellow yelp friends, we decided to try dining at this sorta new Korean barbecue place. It's located right behind the Springfield Trader Joe's. Parking is easy as it's a very large strip mall. We didn't have a reservation but came in for an early dinner time. We were the only patrons in the restaurant. This was definitely a safe social distancing dining experience. The staff was very careful. This is not an all you can eat restaurant. They have several combo dishes as well as à la cart selections. We chose several items off the à la cart menu. The food portions were very small. The Kalbi was so thin I almost thought it was brisket. For the price I'm not sure I would come back. The young boy does not get tips even though his name is on the receipT, so he was tipped cash... the rude manager saw the tip on the receipt was $1 and confronted me about it. Hands down the best korean takeout we have ever ordered and that's saying a lot because we eat a lot of korean food in this house. The order was packaged so nicely and little notes on each box were cute and helpful. Made us feel safe during this uncertain time because it showed how organized and likely clean the kitchen is. We ordered bossam, kalbi, soondubu, mandu and bulgogi. The bossam is pricey but it comes with a very generous shareable (with many) portion of pork belly. My only complaint is I wish it had come with perilla leaves and not just lettuce. Still, the taste and texture was perfect and the accompaniments were very fresh and plentiful. Sometimes if you get bossam they slack on either the meat or the components. They slacked on neither. The kalbi was sticky and tender. Just right. Not the best kalbi I've had but definitely worth the price. The bulgogi was tasty, not overly sweet. The kimchi was a little watery in flavor but was still given to us in a good sized portion. A lot of places really skimp on the kimchi side. And the soondubu was melt in your mouth. It was very mild and buttery in flavor but hit the spot. The mandu were surprisingly good. They didn't skimp on filling. We've ordered takeout only a hand full of times during the Covid-19 scare and this was the first restaurant to hit all the marks and to also make us feel our food was prepared safely and cleanly. My experience here concerning quality of food was about a 3 star. My group went for the beef option 1. The ban chan side dishes came out and it was decent. First set of meat started cooking and it was the thinly sliced brisket. You can't really mess that it up so we enjoyed it. Second set of meat were beef chunks and it was a mixed bag of tender and chewy pieces. Really would of liked it to be more tender, but it happens so we didn't really mind it. Lastly, our kalbi short ribs came out and it was VERY disappointing. Short ribs are always our favorite part, but every single piece was chewy and inedible. Service was polite and were on point at cooking the meat so the meat was not overcooked or anything like that, but for some reason it was still super chewy. We couldn't finish even half of it unfortunately. Considering they are new and we are still recovering from a pandemic, I am adding an extra star. My favorite dish at any Korean BBQ place is LA Galbi and this is how I determine whether I'll like other food at the restaurant. This did not disappoint. It had a good flavor and wasn't overly chewy. My husband got the kimchi fried rice and he said it was good but not very spicy. It is made with bacon instead of spam, but thats a preference. We called ahead for 12 people on a Saturday night, they were able to accommodate 2 tables- 6 people per table seats. Slow Saturday, there were only 3 small tables were seated. We wait for our waiter for 30 minutes before placing our order because there was only one waiter. Did not get our complimentary side dishes for another 25 minutes. The meats were pretty fresh. We also ordered a beer, a ramen and steam eggs. We did not get the beer until he remembered it, which was 30 minutes later. The ramen was pretty much the instant noodle package with egg and vegetables. Our steam egg was way over cooked and burnt (blacken in the bottom). Overall the price is average compared to other KBQQ. Between the meal, we tried to get our waiter so many times but he was NOT very attentive. Out of 10 times we only able to get him 2 times kind situation. We finally able hold of him for our bill, and we also mentioned to the waiter if he can remove the egg from our bill because it was burnt. He hesitated and then said "ok." When he came back, he had audacity to tell us "next time, can you tell me before I print the bill"? We advised him that he never checked on us and we couldn't get hold of him at all.
