I was so stoked to find this place on a recent trip, and they didn't disappoint! I've always had a liking for cold soba, so seeing that along with buckwheat guksu pretty sealed the deal and I knew we had to make a stop here. Tucked around the corner from the entrance of a supermarket, this place is one of a handful in a food court with mostly Korean vendors, and on both days we were there, the place was hopping. The lady at the counter gave us a buzzer for our orders and it didn't take too long for the food to come out. The toppings for the cold broth that came with soba were spot on, and the noodles were a fresh, chilled, chewy perfection. The guksu was just as authentic and delicious, not to mention the warm broth that blew us away. And I love that they served little cups of vinegar and sweet mustard so we could add a bit of tang, which for us was needed. Overall 5/5, and I only lament that we can't come here every week.

During these cold winter days, there's nothing better than hot noodle soup. This place, located on the left hand side as you ever K Market International's food court, specializes in buckwheat (메밀) dishes, particularly noodles. The 메밀들깨칼국수 (hand-cut buckwheat noodles with perilla seeds) is served with a warm hearty soy milk broth. It's delicious, filling, and hits the spot. The noodles have incredible bounce and soak up the flavors of the broth well. There are some 반찬 (side dishes) that accompany the dish. The person at the counter is quite nice and provides friendly service. There's plenty of seating in the food court. Simple and tasty. Definitely a place to revisit.

We've been to Yes! Buckwheat (aka, Yae Mae Mil) several times now, an eatery that replaced the previous Bu Ddu Mak. We have enjoyed their freshly made buckwheat noodles, but our recent experiences have been mediocre: +the Memil Bibim Malguksu isn't made correctly consistently, missing various toppings/ingredients; the noodles also seemed to not have been drained properly, so the dish, overall, was just super wet +the Steamed Memil Mandu tasted pretty good, but they weren't serve piping hot; not sure if they were just flash-steamed to just warm them up? The soy sauce dipping sauce could have been more spicier to complement Service is always friendly. Ample seating in the food court, and plenty of parking in the large plaza lot. +inconsistent dishes +housemade buckwheat noodles +friendly service +located inside K Market's food court +ample seating & parking

New food vendor inside kmarket food court. Lady was really nice. 2. memil bibim makguksu/spicy cold buckwheat noodle w. Mixed vegetables. Was ok. Veggies were mostly just cabbage. 8. Buckwheat pancake. Was my fav. Nice and chewy. Will Def be back to try other menu items. They also gave us a small complimentary bottle of water which was nice. Kmarket food court doesn't offer cups of water. After eating didn't feel heavy and bloated which was nice^^

Steamed Mandu. The color isn't the usual golden colored dumplings you'll find at other places, because it's made out of buckwheat flour.

Edit: This is our 3rd time eating here. What's in their "special" broth for the Nangmyun? Is it dongchimi broth? Please say it is so, because those broths help with digestion- packed with a bunch of other electrolytes and healthy probiotics. What more can I say that's different? Well, we couldn't just order the new items without eating the previous meals too. (They were that good.) You'll definitely suffer from FOMO as you ponder which you'll order from the menu. I highly encourage you to try them all, eventually. Today's highlights are the fried mandu and the vegetable jeon. One of my kids said that it tastes like home. It tastes like... your mom bought the best ingredients to make your food. As we bit into the mandu, we marveled at the crispy and delicate mandu wrappers. How is it so thin and yet tough enough for my kids to slap it with the fork? How sad we were to drop one mandu~ It was difficult to resist the 5 second rule. The jeon, a.k.a. "pancakes," were crispy on the edges; The young man who takes the order obviously has great pride because he's very helpful at making recommendations. At one point, when we couldn't decide, he returned with a small bowl of savory broth. The owner is available to answer your questions you may have as well. Perhaps I shouldn't write such a glowing review. What if too many customers show up and I'll have to wait long for my food? For now, the only negative thing I can say about eating here is that you might overeat. Original Review: This restaurant has been around since 1993 in Korea. It had featured in MBC, SBS, and KBS for their unique use of buckwheat in all their dishes. The restaurant name is "Yes! Buckwheat." They really should've been, "Oh, yes! Buckwheat" or "Oh, my gosh! Buckwheat" because every spoonful and every morsels were that delicious. My kids are hard to please. But, they absolutely loved the Nangmyun- the cold noodles. The broth was so refreshing. Mmm~ My husband's Bibimguksoo- the spicy cold noodles were so good that I kept taking some from his bowl. The sauce was... perfect. It wasn't overly spicy with overdone gochujang that leaves a bitter aftertaste. The way they arranged the vegetables was pleasing to the eyes. And, my Udon? It was the best I ever had- Not salty like other places. After we were finished eating, we just had to try the steamed Mandu- Korean dumplings. Yum! The only caveat is that it has ground beef. Sorry, vegetarians. Now, let's talk about the noodles. Each of the noodle dishes, although made with yes, buckwheat, were all so different and made to perfection. I make my own pastas and mandu wrappers using whole wheat and ground oats. So, I know it's not easy making noodles with anything other than typical flour. I can't believe how delicious Yes! Buckwheat noodles are! So chewy. Whenever I stole a bite of my husband's bibimguksu, I couldn't take just a little bite because the noodles stretched and stretched as I wrapped them around my chopsticks. My Udon noodles were soft but not too soft. It tasted better than any Japanese restaurant's Udon. The biggest surprise for me is Nangmyun. I've never eaten such noodles with Nangmyun. My father's side of the family came from N. Korea. So, I grew up eating lots of Nangmyun with buckwheat noodles. Yes! Buckwheat is unique. Surprisingly addictive. I must go back. Soon. For those of you who haven't tried Nangmyun, I'll quote from NPR's article: "Italy has its pasta salad, and China its cold sesame noodles. But there are few places where cold noodles are held in as high esteem as in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. Naengmyeon, as it's called, is enjoyed both in the sweltering heat of summer, and the frigid depths of winter, and on both sides of the heavily fortified border between the two Koreas. This dish for all seasons originates in North Korea." (North Korean cold noodle master brings northern tastes to Seoul. August 15, 20225:43 PM ET. Heard on All Things Considered)

The dumplings were giant and they were ok. The buckwheat itself was tasteless. Probably not going back.

Does the broth have fish or meat in it? Some options appear vegan friendly but it is unclear.

The broth traditionally is made from anchovies and kelp, so I suppose there's a fish element.

We ordered a spread: gyoza with sweet and spicy sauce, kimchi pancakes, fried shrimp, soy garlic wings, takoyaki, LA galbi, and jjampong with noodles... plus way too many drinks. We arrived early and scored prime seats by the bar, which turned out to be perfect, especially once the night shifted into more of a club vibe with a DJ. The energy was great, and most of the food was surprisingly delicious -- everything hit except the jjampong. We were expecting udon noodles, but it came with thin, clear noodles instead, and the flavor was a bit off for us. That said, the staff handled everything perfectly, and it didn't take away from the rest of the experience. Between the food, drinks, and nightlife atmosphere, we had an awesome time and will definitely be back. Unfortunately, I have not had a good service experience here. I visited a couple of times during the World Cup because of their advertised drink specials, and both visits ended with us being overcharged. When we questioned it, the staff gave what felt like the same rehearsed explanation each time. Before ordering, we specifically confirmed with our server that they were running the $5 rail drink special. By definition, a rail (or well) drink is made with the house liquor and a standard mixer. At JMT, however, you'll be charged extra for every little addition without anyone telling you beforehand. A splash of cranberry juice or tonic water resulted in additional charges that were never mentioned by either the server or the bartenders. On top of that, a 25% gratuity was automatically added despite our server being largely inattentive. Throughout the night, we repeatedly had to get up and ask for things ourselves, and not everyone at our table even received a cup for water. To make matters worse, both their menu and website clearly state that automatic gratuity applies to parties of 8 or more, yet our party of 6 was automatically charged 25%. When we brought these concerns to our server, he spoke with the manager, whose response was simply, "That's how we do things here." He explained that he wasn't familiar with the drinks because the bartenders determine the charges, and that it would be difficult to void and reprocess the bill. We were also told that they always add 25% gratuity for parties of 6 and that, in their view, a rail is simply a shot rather than a mixed well drink. Those explanations directly contradict both common industry terminology and the information advertised on their own menu and website. I understand that restaurants and bars get busy, and mistakes happen. What was disappointing was being told that they've been operating this way for a long time instead of acknowledging the inconsistencies or updating their advertised policies. That reflects poor management more than an isolated mistake. It doesn't feel good to invite friends somewhere only to have everyone end up paying more than expected because the advertised specials and gratuity policies don't match what is actually charged. I can't say how often this happens, but after experiencing it on multiple visits, I'd strongly recommend reviewing your bill carefully before paying.

From my understanding, this place is owned by the former owner of Khan, which was a well respected establishment in the area. I've only hung out upstairs, but it's a calmer vibe than a lot of the other hotspots in Annandale. There's no DJ and it's not super crowded, but the music is good and it truly is a place to just drink and hang out with your friends. The food here is actually phenomenal. From skewers to shareables like the potato pancake to entrées like the spicy creamy pasta, I've been very satisfied with it all. But really, what tops the food is the service. We've had the pleasure of being served by some of the nicest people, Bruce the manager, Scott, Jack, who we now call Jack Jack, and Hayden. Need a place to drink? Chung Dam got you.

The atmosphere is great for socializing, though it can get pretty loud on weekends. Service is fast and friendly. Food is hit or miss. Most of the smaller dishes are decent, but some feel overpriced. We took one for the team and can report that the $9 corn cheese was incredibly mid. The khanpoong chicken is the only main meal worth it to us. A Korean friend also recommended the bossam and skewers, and I'd agree the skewers are worth ordering. Donkatsu was okay, and the kikurage was good but probably only good bc I got the sauce on the side. Overall, a good late-night hangout spot, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way for the food.
