This place has the ambience. Great wall decor and cultural structure. And their happy hour is actual a good deal, with buy one get one for a buck beer and sake. Also some sushi roll specials. The sushi is well decorated. Unfortunately that is about all this place has going for it. The quality is not as good and they cut down on size. I have been coming here for over 10 years and it just isn't the same. The service is also short staffed, and it takes long to get your sushi. Besides been very loud and crazy crowd.. loved the food here.. love what we ordered.. our waiter was really helpful in deciding what to get; he was so honest about what's good and what's not! We ordered tornado which is one of their top tempura rolls on the menu, ordered stuffed jalapeño and Parmesan sweet potato fries for appretizers which were soooo bomb dot com.. ordered crunchy California roll as well which was scrumptious too! a huge shame that chomp closed. this was the go-to spot. high end when it came to the check, but goddamn worth it. my bestie and i would hit this place up during movie nights down at AMC. the spicy edamame, the rolls, and the sake was amazing. the booths were very modest and gave a lot of privacy. sure you could hear people, but you couldn't see them. hard to say that about other restaurants. it was just so comfortable. i'm glad i got to bring my boyfriend here for our date night before it closed. read more

The ambiance was pleasant, and the restaurant was spacious. I particularly liked the seating areas with curtains, which provided privacy for groups. The food was overall enjoyable. We ordered takoyaki, spicy seafood udon, beef teriyaki hot stone, truffle salmon, and the hot night roll. My personal favorite was the hot night roll, as it had a slight spicy kick complemented by crunchy tempura flakes. Since I'm not a big fan of seafood, I left much of it in the udon. However, for those who enjoy seafood, the spicy seafood udon would likely be a great choice. I still appreciated the flavorful broth. The beef teriyaki hot stone was also good--the rice had a slightly sweet taste that I personally enjoyed, though the meat was a bit too chewy. I'd like to try the teppan hot stone next time. The takoyaki was decent but nothing extraordinary, just a standard preparation. The truffle salmon was my least favorite; while it had a nice truffle aroma, I would opt for a different roll next time. Overall, I enjoyed both the food and the ambiance. However, I did notice that the restaurant seemed slightly understaffed. While the servers were polite, they were very busy, and we had to ask for wasabi three times before it was finally brought to our table--by which point we were nearly finished with our meal. Their sushi is soooooooo good. Every time. Tastes so fresh and I don't feel so guilty after eating it like I do when I eat a big burger! We always sit at the sushi bar and it's usually empty around 5:30pm on a weekday. They have plenty of seating throughout, tables and booths. They currently have a bogo 50% for sushi so definitely come in and partake on that deal. Service is great, they can get busy and looks like they may have minimal staff so be patient. They're all friendly and attentive as can be. Parking can get pretty crowded. There is a lot as well as 2-hour street parking. read more

This is my 3rd time enjoying sushi from here. 2 times dining in and one time taking out. This current time I LOVED it just as much as the first time. Orders were taken promptly and food came out pretty fast as well. I thought we'd spent an hour in here but it was actually about 30 minutes. I had their garlic edamame and asked for it a little spicier and it was AMAZING I picked off my boyfriend's baby crawfish roll and I had a super dragon roll and both hit the spot. Delicious sushi! I ordered a 3 item bento box at Dinnertime and got the Beef Teriyaki, Salmon Avocado Roll and the Vegetable Tempura. I also ordered an Ex girlfriend Roll and a Cajun Tuna Roll and a Snow Cone Roll . Their sushi was really fresh and what I really like about this place is that there are a lot of unique rolls or different rolls that I haven't seen at other sushi places. I don't know why they hire bad attitude young kids to work FRONT host stand as they are the first communication we receive when walking in. Completely rude about taking down our names. They don't take reservations on Sunday for brunch so of course we can only walk in and wait, but they said if we have more than 4 in our party we can't eat here today as they're too busy but its only been an hour since they opened. We're here for a birthday and had to let rest of our party know they would have to come in and sit separately so we could only be 4 each to eat. Even then, they have made us wait for over an hour and let three other parties ahead of us. When I told the hostess this she cut me off and said "um who did we let ahead of you", and as I was explaining the parties who only just arrived ten min prior, she cut me off again and said "literally we are going off the list soooo look your next ok" and turned around to gossip again with the other host like middle school children and not professional employees at a restaurant. This, ruined our experience and they began to laugh after finally seating us. I wish I could give zero stars based okservice but it wouldn't be fair to the decent food we had and the nice server who addressed our concerns. I asked for a manager but she said he is not here today and she'll talk to the girls. She is trying to make it better for my sisters birthday but still the bitter taste in our mouth from the first hour is hard to forget. read more

Never had a back meal or item. waitstaff is friendly and service is pretty fast. We mostly dine-in here, but have gotten take out a few times. The takeout should be the same, but it is just not. Sort of feels like the second string kitchen does their take out. The food was good, but not "AMAZING". For the price of dining in, I want a little more dazzle. The restroom was clean. The rolls were decently priced I would say 14-17 dollar range which is good for this economy right now. The rolls were filled greatly and did not have any weird fishy smell which is great! I don't know why this place had such low reviews, it honestly is a great sushi place and in the heart of downtown Fullerton! People should definitely try it out!! read more

It was amazingly delicious and everything was perfect! The size portion was large and enough to get you full and satisfied. My boyfriend enjoyed the rolls and I really liked the bulgogi hot plate. We had Jimmy as our waiter and he was nice and he always checked on us to make sure we were good and made great recommendations for appetizers. So glad there's a good sushi spot right on downtown Fullerton. The interior is cute and the booth seatings give you some privacy for your own groups. They have the "omakase" boxes in regular and premium, the sushi is individually placed in a box which was super cute and eye catching. I'm not a tuna person but their blue fin was delicious. First time customer and I wouldn't have never guessed the quality of food would be so high. We went for Saturday dinner and sat by the booths at the back of the restaurant. Ambiance 5/5 The booth was nice and cozy, with music at a reasonable level. Definitely a bit lucky with the seating, but if I would be a regular if I could sit at the spot every time! You would never expect the interior from the outside, but it gives you a bit of "this might be Japan" vibe. Very well done. Food 5/5 We got the dinner bento and the downtown premium omakase. The omakase was very surprisingly excellent and easily beats out other omakase meals in the same price range. I would have expected it to cost double the price for such quality. I was so confused, in fact, that I asked for the receipt to verify I didn't order the wrong item. The bento box was a good deal as well. Above average and much better than I expected. Service 4/5 This was the most unfortunate part of the meal, but all is forgiven when you feel like the food quality exceeds expectations to the degree it did. Food did take a while and servers were a bit slow to come by, but the ambiance does take some of the blow. Objectively I might give it a 3/5, but holistically, a 4/5. I am sold on this spot and plan on bringing friends the next time for the omakase. We had a great time here at Chomp! My fiancé have been here quite a few times and mentioned how fun this place was before COVID. I have been here twice, both times = good experience, matched with good food and great service by Grace (fortunate to have her as our server both times) since we like Sashimi, we always order the sampler platter (bowl), I have to say, we have always had good luck with their Sashimi's - so fresh & delicious! Ordered with a side of premium wasabi - this entree is the bomb! I also like their rolls, The Salmon, Dragon, Spider are some of my favorites, there's too many to choose from so I always stick to the familiar and my favorites.
