This place is absolute aces. Best food, awesome drinks and a wonderful relaxed casual fun atmosphere. Tonight our bartender was Brianna. She is an outstanding bartender and a true ambassador for Chive's Brand. Chive is the best place to relax and meet friends. Think of Cheers the TV show with a Florida flair. Local favorite Chive is the passion project of Lou Kolbauer who was interested in creating a restaurant that would showcase a menu influenced by his diverse background. He is also known in the area for The Green Marlin Restaurant & Raw Bar and Rosie Malloy's Pub. Chives first opened in a small space on Dixie Highway in 2013. A second location was opened on Royal Palm Pointe in 2014 and in 2018 Chive moved to current larger location on Miracle Mile. The Chives menu is vast. Their tag line is "quick, creative cuisine." Depending on what you order, you can experience New American cuisine, Traditional, Asian Fusion, or Soul Food. Order at the counter and craft you ideal meal of a sandwich, salad, tacos, bowls, or burrito from an array of fresh toppings, proteins, and dressings, or choose a menu selection created by Chives. Once your meal is ready you can take it to any one of the booths or high tops in the dining room decorated with recycled panels turned into art or eat outside on the inviting courtyard patio at a picnic table. You can also sit at the full service bar which offers the same create your own menu and even more menu options not offered at the order counter. Sounds confusing? It is but worth getting the hang of. The menu also offer fresh fish, soup, and daily specials that included big smash burgers, lunch baskets from 11-3 PM, and BOGO smoothies from 2 to 4 PM. I decided to order at the counter and after studying the menu before coming in I knew I wanted the Korean Beef Tacos made with seared steak, lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, Thai glass noodles, cilantro, scallions, and feta cheese and topped with Sriracha Aioli & Judo Chop in 2 flour tortillas. The beef was tender and the tacos were full of flavor and crunch. Everything is cooked to order and I was able to watch the platting of my dish in the open kitchen by no less than three people. You can tell that fresh ingredients and care go into the food crafted here. For my side I chose the macaroni and cheese. It was a creamy incarnation of the dish rather than my preferred southern style, baked version. It was ok, just not to my taste and kind of bland. I probably should have ordered some kind of vegetable. if you are looking for creative, healthy choices without sacrificing taste, Chives is worth visiting.

We went for the first time and everyone was super helpful! The bartender welcomed us and directed us to where we needed to order. The people making the food were super kind and the food came out not only tasty but a work of art! The place was super clean with cute decor. The fountain drinks are self serve and so is the silverware. 10/10!

Came here the other day to try their wings and some appetizers. At the time I went it was rather busy but I sat at the bar. Ambiance was neat and the bathroom was clean as well. For my appetizer I had ordered the reuben egg rolls and they were something else. I was really impressed that this exists. And for my entree I had 20 chicken wings. Half mild and the other half was sauced in a sauce called awesome sauce. The wing special is probably the best deal in town but I was not pleased with the time limit, I think the special ends at 7pm and the wings are only .79 cents but celery sticks and other sides are not included and you'd be charged regular price for those items. I enjoyed my visit and will be coming back to try their other sauces and other options of food.

Was on a work trip in Vero Beach and definitely pulled out my YELP to check out the hot restaurants in the area and this place came up as one. When I arrived, there was no hostess degree so I just assumed that you're supposed to sit down and waiter will come and take your order, but that wasn't the case. You have to order your food at the front desk For sit down and then somebody will come bring you your food so totally different and reverse for me. I had the Korean tacos. They were so freaking delicious mind blowing great! I also have their margaritas which was four dollars all day long not bad at all. I wanted to try their shrimp Poboy, but I guess I'll have to try it out another time when I'm in town.

Late night quick bite takeout without suffering through fast food. Two Mahi and scallop fish cake salads and a side of Swiss Mac and cheese. Super fresh and good. Salad had options of a lemon dressing or Cajun remoulade. Tried with both- flavorful but the lemon was my favorite. Salad had fresh salsa, pineapple, corn, black beans, greens. Swiss Mac and cheese you can get with or without bread crumbs, and a side is actually a lot. Service was quick, staff nice. Great bar inside too and saw others getting fish tacos and tuna nachos- both looked yummy. Looked like there were drink specials as well.

We went as 1st timers. Bar area has full service otherwise order at counter. Many options I went with Thai chicken wrap, has lettuce, carrots, clear noodles, chicken, feta cheese, peanut sauce and sriracha mayo; wrapped really nicely so it stayed together, overall very fresh. The feta was a bit of a miss for me with the other flavors, had a slight kick which was perfect, just the right amount of noodles and chicken. Fries were my selected side. Husband had the Korean beef tacos he said they were good and his side was chips and salsa which he liked. Service was friendly and helpful. Place has several TVs so that adds to sports tavern type ambiance.

We had lunch at Chive today and it was amazing! We had the Korean beef tacos and the Korean beef salad--both were super fresh and full of flavor. All of the staff were so nice and helpful. If I lived in town, I would go here all the time! This place is SO GOOD! Super fresh & delicious. I had the Mahi & Scallop Cake Salad (WOW!), Hubby had Chicken Tacos (he loved them), and the kiddo had Chicken Caesar Wrap (I'm picky about Caesar dressing and it was Really good). Would most definitely eat here again if we return to Vero Beach. Thanks Chive! read more

Meh... not my favorite place. Nice bar with lots of different drinks to choose from. Clean and seemed to be a steadiness of busy-ness. The menu is not large. There were quite a few things I wanted to try, but decided on a chicken dish. It was flavorful but nothing to rave about. My dad was not thrilled with his choice. His steak was a tad tough and for the price, I expected more to it. The staff is so friendly. Answered all questions we had and knowledgeable. I might go eat here again with friends, but just ant the place my 80 year old dad wants to go back too. I think my experience will be, hopefully, better on a different excursion. Would like to spend more time there and really dive in to the menu. read more

Excellent service (sat at the bar)...ordered a chicken burrito with a side salad and a shrimp po boy which were both yummy. TVs had sports on and they were also playing nice rock n roll which we both enjoyed. Yes, we will go back again and you should too if in the neighborhood. read more

Poor service hurts the food quality. Ordered 4 dishes and two smoothies at 3pm. One dish, the Reuben egg rolls, we ordered and online orders came in after ours. After 5 minutes of waiting, we were told they were out of egg rolls - they prioritized online over in person orders, and did nothing to compensate for their obvious prioritization of someone else. This was honestly one of the tastiest meals I've eaten out since I moved to Florida seven years ago. I got the steak on top of a custom salad that included avocado, onions, olives and other fixins. As a side I did 3 ounces of lobster salad. So it was basically a surf and turf lunch. The quality of everything was incredible. I have never seen hot, freshly cooked steak dropped on top of a salad like that in a fast casual place. The lobster salad was also amazing. Only two drawbacks: the menu is slightly confusing and the prices are high, especially on the lobster stuff. Lobster shouldn't be $5.00 per ounce; that means $80 per pound!!! Really cute place off miracle mile VB. Love the ambience and the food. It is a place in which you walk up and order and go up and get it once you're called. The food here is excellent. Seafood, salad, wraps, very upscale casual dining. I had the lobster salad on greens. You choose what you want on your salad, or burrito or whatever you're ordering. The staff was wearing masks. DistAncing was good. The young man packing up my food let out a loud Shrek belch , the girls working by him looked at him horrified, ok well there's that. I remember when this was a tiny little place off 14th, nice to see their growth and the consistency of great food. read more

The ahi tuna nachos are the best I've ever had. There are tons of toppings and the dish has an outstanding flavor. The buffalo chicken wrap is really good, but heavy on the bleu cheese so the buffalo flavor doesn't really come through at all. Still a great menu item, but I'd probably get an extra side of buffalo sauce if I was really craving that flavor. The Swiss Mac and cheese was great. I added a bit of salt, but it may be perfect for others who are less-salt-addicted than I am. The coconut crusted scallops were amazing. I definitely think those are worth getting again and again. It came with a delicious sweet chili sauce but I'll probably try it with some of their other sauces in the future too. There are so many sauces to chose from! I had the fish tacos last time I was here and I remember loving those too. There are almost too many incredible sounding menu items. It's hard to make up my mind! I want it all! read more

The food was really good. It's like a build your own food so basically you can pick from a bunch of different food bases like taco, bean and rice bowl, lettuce blend, spinach, etc. then it goes on to meat and veggie options. Then cheeses and sauce and more options also sides. The food tastes really fresh. The service was great and the workers were really nice while explaining the menu to us. They were really patient. The vibe of the restaurant is good and the seats are comfortable. And they also have a bar. read more

Don't go for the Korean beef anything. It has no Korean spice, taste or texture. I still gave a 20% tip as I appreciate folks working hard during dinner time. But I was underwhelmed on this visit. read more

Proceed to order and get served was somewhat disorganized. We had to ask for food that never came then it went to the wrong table. Service slow, food expensive. Got a burrito and two sandwiches with chips and was 50 dollars. At check out, the register won't give you another option to tip less than 18%. Burrito was bleh, friend ordered a chicken bacon ranch and the person didn't ask if he wanted anything else on his sandwich. Had to ask for silverware and our drinks Anyways decrease the price in half and I'll bump my rating up to 3 stars. read more

what an amazing little restaurant find. We were headed to another restaurant but found that it didn't open till 3 PM so we ended up going to chive. We have a most wonderful experience at Chive. My wife and I are salad lovers. We saw that they had a create your own salad menu. So we headed off to give it a try and boy did they not disappoint. My wife had a salad with grilled Mahi-mahi with anything and everything she wanted to add. I, on the other hand, had the seared Ahi Tuna with so much I can't start to tell you. I would like to say this if you want more of anything, except the Protein or items they charge extra for, just ask and they will give you more. I asked for more lettuce and also cheese and they were happy to oblige. I had noticed on some reviews people mentioned that they are costly or a bit over priced. I would say on that aspect the portions you get and quality of the food, freshness, are unsurpassed. Thus making the price very reasonable. We definitely we be returning. There were several people enjoying large tacos and homemade salads like chicken, tuna and broccoli. Which all looked amazing. read more

AMAZING. I'm highly allergic to soy so hesitant to eat out now. But I asked about soy and one of the chefs came over and she said "we do care ok the chicken with soy oil but if you can wait 5 minutes I'll make it for you with olive oil ". SOLD! Super fresh food. I ordered salad mix base, grilled chicken and several toppings. Nothing was canned or heavily seasoned. I added a side of lobster bisque. It was high-end restaurant quality as far as taste. My only complaint is that I got it because of other reviews raving about the lobster in it, but mine had none! No worries. I'll be back again and again. One of my favorite places!! Like Chipotle but fresher and way more options!! Can be a quick healthy option or a great place to hang out for long lunches! We ate here 5 years ago, yet we still remember how delicious it was. I always joke that we're going to take a trip just to stop here. Kind of like chipotle but much higher quality and with an extensive menu that caters to all tastes.. Not really convenient to ever stop there unless were in Vero again, but If we're ever in the neighborhood it's the first place I'm going. read more

Perfect place to have cocktails with friends. Cool atmosphere. Nice indoor and outdoor seating. Very dog friendly. I can't say vegan friendly anymore because they had to remove the beyond meat option. But I stiff love this place!:) The staff are all wonderful! read more

I haven't Yelped in a while because quite frankly, there hasn't been a reason to. Went up to Vero Beach to have lunch with grandpa, Chive seemed like a good solution now that me and my wife are vegan. First let me say that the staff is super accommodating. When my daughter didn't like the beans which we had already paid for, they freely gave her a plate of mac & cheese at no extra cost, very nice. I can go on and on about what we ordered, but I'll say this to make it simple, it was quite an enjoyable dining experience and the food was really good and fresh. I love coming here and getting the tuna poke in a burrito and skip the wontons. I add lots of very fresh and fun vegetables. It never disappoints and I have never ordered anything else. My wife likes the scallops if available. We have meet the owner a few times as he is very friendly and accommodating. I just wish it was a bit closer! read more

History

Established in 2013.

Chive started in 2013 as a small lunch spot in front of our catering kitchen on old Dixie highway in Vero Beach FL. After winning Top Chef of Vero Beach, we received an overwhelming interest in our creative and unique cuisine. In 2014 we opened our second location at 8 Royal Palm Pointe. Quite simply, we love cooking and inspiring our staff to create new recipes and grow with us.

Meet the Business Owner: Lou K.

I realized I had a passion for cooking in college. Living away from home,and my Mom's cooking, I realized quickly if I wanted something good to eat on a tiny budget I was going to have to do it on my own. After owning a residential construction company for many years, I decided to change careers to catering. My business partner Travis and I decided to open Wild Thyme Catering in 2011. We shared kitchen space with a local restaurant until we outgrew the space and in 2013 opened the office and kitchen of Wild Thyme Catering/Chive. The rest is history. Chive became an immediate success and we look forward to opening more stores locally and eventually nationally.

My favorite spot in Vero. The level of care put into the quality of the meals at Chive is unparalleled. The staff is curteous and the food is excellent. Chive is a type of place you have to visit a time or two before you can really figure out what you like and how to order. Overwhelming at first but once you get to that point it's oh. so. good. Pro tip: One of their "pre-selected" style of entries is the "Max and cheese burrito" which is Mac and Cheese on a burrito; let that sink in. It is truly a thing of beauty. While you are there you may also hear them holler, "steak down". When this happens, pay attention; Magic is imminent. After experiencing the unique casual meets absolutely exquisite fine dining restaurant I feel extremely happy knowing that there's a place in town where there is exquisite food and service. People are very quick to judge but if you have patience and go in with the expectations of great food then everything else is just pleasurable. The owner Louis kolbauer is extremely talented also very particular about the experience of each and every guest that walks through his doors. If there is ever a problem he's always more than happy to fix it which makes for a great dining experience. The ambience and quality of the food is absolutely phenomenal! They used their (gloved) hands to put cooked meat on the beds of lettuce instead of using a serving utensil and that was kind of ick. Food was okay, not fabulous, but I was shocked by the carelessness of the person serving it and embarrassed in front of my guest. (I hope it doesn't reflect their standards for what you don't see-) I guess you see chopped cilantro and things sprinkled with gloved fingertips sometimes, but handfuls of dripping cooked meat was somehow different. I went to a restaurant last night on Jupiter Island. It was very pricey I might add and reasonably so considering the atmosphere and location. However, their food cannot compare to CHIVE. Chives owners and employees have a true desire and passion for what they do, and every single experience I've had with them proves this to be true! GO CHIVE! Everything tastes so amazing, except the lobster salad or lobster bisque or lobster Po Boy. I have been here so many times and love it all except anything lobster there. The lobster is so fishy and tasted awful and rubbery. I have tried it many different ways and each time so disappointed because I love lobster, Way overpriced and awful. Don't get it ever. The sweet chili cream dressing is phenomenal!!! I was in eating lunch heaven! The hardest part of dining with Chive is trying to decide just what to order. Today, I choose the shrimp rice bowl and was a happy person. My next trip in this week, I will have the lobster salad on butter lettuce. We love the new location along with the friendly employees. I could drink some of the salad dressings.
