Here's a fun and delicious story. I saw at Publix and bought volcano roll dip which was good but not awesome so my wife got a hunger for sushi so she orders from this place. I go to pick up and parking isn't great but the folks in there were really cool and the food was cooked to order. Whatever that soy sauce combination with my tearikki sauce combination is that made the shrimp and sushi rolls perfect. Bottle that up because whatever that is I'd put that on anything Asian and a few other dishes as well. Also shout out to the shrimp. It was way better than the standard fried shrimp I'd usually get. P.s. if you are willing to share the secrets to that delicious soy/tearikki sauce combination that would be really cool. Asking for a friend read more

Don't order the miso soup! It tasted terrible and was served in a styrofoam bowl that made it taste worse. I told them I couldn't eat it and they didn't refund my money. I won't be back. read more

Nice little place cranks out sushi, poke bowls, hibachi! Some indoor and outdoor seating! read more

Quick and tasty carry out. Very nice and attentive workers in a clean and updated space. Portions were plentiful and the scallops were cooked perfectly. Great little pit stop if you're looking for a quick and easy meal. read more

This place is a hidden gem of a whole in the wall. Small parking lot and small inside, mostly a takeout place, but Authentic Japanese food. Quickly prepared, very clean inside, vegetables were perfectly cooked and sauces were very tasty. Have Hibachi grill. Staff is very helpful with their full menu. You can't go wrong. read more

A few of us stopped in to get dinner and dine on the back porch area. The prices are reasonable for the type and quantity of food. This is a family- owned restaurant set up more for take-out orders than for sit down dining, however they do have 3 small tables inside that seat a couple of people each, and a couple tables around back on a small deck that seat 4 each. They offer canned soft drinks and a few other bottled drinks including water. The staff is super-friendly, and the food is cooked fresh upon ordering. We tried the hibachi meals, teriyaki chicken meal, and coconut shrimp. We really liked the coconut shrimp, and the fried rice was very tasty and moist. It's a small venue with a few parking spots out front and additional parking around the back. It's located right next to the 7-Eleven near corner of State Road 60 (also known as 20th Street) and 43rd Ave. read more

Amazing food, always friendly. We came in about 15 minutes before they were going to close and they fulfilled our order in a very timely manner. It's pretty crammed in there so it's best if you eat it to go, but it's a wonderful place. Their hibachi is amazing, but their poke bowls are great too! read more

I was very disappointed in the food I ordered. The tuna sushi roll was mediocre. The Hibachi steak was horrible. I've never been disappointed in their food until now. Maybe because I had an Instacart coupon? My partner who can eat anything literally got sick to his stomach. I'm so shocked and disappointed. Fried rice had only soy sauce on it? Maybe I expected tooo much, but I won't be ordering from there again. Nor recommend it. read more

We love Umi Grill! Wild fish, quality food. Makes an easy dinner treat! The best seaweed salad!! We're so glad they're open on Saturday's now too! read more

I met a friend there for lunch. The food was good, and the service was great! Even though it's counter service, the ladies went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed at the table. It is small inside, so I wouldn't plan on eating in with a large party, I'd get it to go in that case. But you can tell the employees really enjoy what they do! read more

I had the food delivered so I am not sure about the ambiance. The chicken and shrimp were very dry. The rest of the food was alright but a little bland. I ordered Shrimp Fried Rice and got Shrimp Noodles. I wanted fried rice because I ordered a side dish of noodles to taste their noodles. read more

Food is fresh, and always delicious! Order ahead and take home. Highly recommend for a healthy, quick lunch or dinner option. read more

What a disappointment! The hibachi steak was beyond well-done when we ordered medium-rare. The chicken hibachi was also overdone and tasteless. The edamame had no salt. Most of the sushi we ordered did not include the ingredients described. The sushi roll including mango ONLY came with mango! The fried rice had a hint of veggies and egg, but mostly seemed like white rice with soy sauce. The best meal was shrimp fried rice. Maybe this place counts on tourists thinking they'll never see them again? That's what it seems! read more

Awesome food and great service! What more could you ask for? Finally made it to Ume grill during our third trip to Vero. It was the perfect lunch (and treat) after 2 hours of mini golf. My family of 3 went for lunch. My hubby and I got poke bowls, I had the volcano bowl. I was worried that it was going to be mostly rice and it wasn't at all. My husband got the Rainbow bowl. The fish was fresh and both bowls were flavorful. My 6yo son got the salmon hibachi with fried rice and there was enough for lunch and dinner. We also got the gyoza (fried) and since it was our first time there, the super sweet owner also gave us the coconut shrimp to try. Everything was delicious!!! 5 starts from the Yelp ninja! read more

Basically, I've been going there since just after their opening, sadly I live miles south of the UME Grill Express & would hope for one a little farther south. So, when I'm in Vero, I'll go there. I've never had a bad meal there, service & food has always been exceptional. I'll be heading there today. I once waited for an hour plus because a gas line was cut across the street, I'm retired & was on my way back home, not a big deal. For me, it's the best Japanese food, fresh food, I've found for my taste buds. Doug J. read more

We got takeout from here the other night and the food was good. It wasn't the best hibachi I've ever had but it's also more of a fast food version of hibachi than real hibachi. We had a few different requests of leaving certain ingredients out of each order and they listened which is rare, so service was good too. The inside was small and clean, and if I remember correctly, there was some inside seating. Will be ordering from here again. read more

This place is amazing, if I could give it more than 5 stars I would! The customer service was incredible, they were so warm and welcoming. I got the build your own spicy tuna poke bowl, the tuna is so fresh and it has the perfect amount of spice. I was just passing through the area and stopped based on all the positive reviews, I'm so glad I did. I can't wait to come back. read more

I love their poke bowls. Fish has always seemed fresh. Good and big portion size as well. Great location near my work.

I ordered Teriyaki Chicken and what I received wasn't what I expected. That being said, what I did receive was quite delicious but not very 'teriyaki-ish'. Grilled chicken breast, with stir fried onions and green peppers. Sprinkled with sesame seeds and some kind of sauce. Sauce was nice, not at all overpowering. Orderered online and was ready and waiting at the specified time. Staff was exceptionally polite and friendly. As a side note, I hope and pray that the owner does NOT RAZE the old Szechuan Palace across the street. Too much history there. read more

Finally found some tasty Asian food here in Vero Beach. Price for two luncheon specials was $20 but the portion was enough for four. We had the sweet and sour chicken and the salmon both with the fried rice. All were highly flavorful, crispy and light. Sauce was served on the side and delicious. Can't wait to come back and try all they offer. It's clear it more of a take out restaurant but they have room for six to dine in. I was warmly welcomed and can feel that the employees are happy to work there. read more

After a recommendation from a friend we decided to give ume a try!, we're usually BIG takara lovers so the thought of express-hibachi was intriguing and man, it did not disappoint! I couldn't believe how delicious everything was. We got steak and scallop hibachi one with noodles one with fried rice, in my opinion the fried rice was better but both were still very good! The food was super fresh, the veggies and meats cooked perfectly, I can't wait to eat here again! read more

I went to Vero beach to visit my parents and was looking to find some local restaurants to support and stumbled upon this one. In all honesty it was first hard to find a place given all the construction but we were eventually able to find it... boy what a hidden gem! I got one of their signature Poké bowls and my boyfriend got the chicken teriyaki Bento box and everything was super fresh and delicious. This will definitely be on our list when we visit again! read more

Ume Grill Express - a hand holding a menu - Japanese Near Me - Vero Beach, Florida

Ume Grill's food is consistently excellent with prices that are very reasonable for what you get. I would pick this over any of the hibachi restaurants in town. Better flavor, not as heavy / oily, and excellent portions. read more

I cannot express how much I love this place! I hope it never changes. The hibachi dinners are delicious my husband gets double veggies with chicken and steak hibachi. I get chicken with veggies and noodles! We both get their house salad and extra yum yum sauce. I'm not a big fan of the soup but I just don't order it. We visit Ume Grill every time we are back in town! We were in town for 5 days and had it 4 of the 5 nights, simply the best around! And the staff is so sweet they throw in a couple of extra yum yum sauces everytime. read more

When no one else was open they were and all the food was yum. Take out food with good portions. No complaints.

Stopped here for lunch as I had a meeting very close was immediately impressed by the appearance and overall cleanliness. Everything seemed new and pretty professionally setup. Very mediocre food. General Tsao's chicken floating in sauce. Noodles were in a container with the same sauce. Not worth the price.

So happy to have Ume Grill here in Vero. Everything I tried was delicious, freshly prepared and on top of that they're just the nicest people. I tried the special, General Tso's Chicken, which was probably one of the best I've had. It was made right when I ordered it, so it was piping hot and so wonderfully crispy. No soggy over-sauced chicken here, just pure, light, crunchy batter happiness! I thoroughly enjoyed it. The poke was good too. So excited to have a local poke place at last! It was fresh and tasty, good tuna, great toppings. They have several different bowls and I can't wait to try them all. The building itself is small, but well done. It's super clean and has cute, modern decor. The prices are fair too for what you get and the lunch specials are an awesome deal. read more

If you want delicious and quick service food this place is it. Japanese Hibachi to go, it is a small place, so do not expect it to be a sit down restaurant that fits a lot of people. The staff was amazing, super accommodating and friendly especially since it was my first time here and I had my daughter with me. They do not have high chairs, so please keep in mind it is more of a to go express restaurant. The menu is very simple, prices were reasonable and the amount of food they give is what you pay for. I ordered the gyoza dumplings, lunch special chicken, veggies and hibachi style with fried rice, and volcano poke bowl. The crab wontons were amazing! Everything about our meal was good, and it felt super light. Most Japanese food seem heavy after eating, but this place did not. I totally recommend Ume Grill if you are craving poke, and hibachi Style meals. read more

The food was fabulous and ready quickly! I had Hibachi Shrimp with veggies. After I finished my lunch the owner gave me a sweet treat to try. I think it was green tea cheesecake. It was delish! I will be back when I am next in town. read more

A small building that serves some of the best Poke bowls I've ever had!! The fish was fresh, the vegetables were crisp, and the seasonings and sauces were well balanced. Also ordered the Sesame Balls, and they were piping hot! An absolute treat for someone who loves both sesame seeds and red bean paste. There's also a nice selection of Ramune to choose from, as well as a desert or two that I have yet to try, but certainly will once I go back. Definitely making this one of my go-to places to get to get a delicious Poke Bowl, and very excited to try their other specials. read more
