Local favorite Chive is the passion project of Lou Kolbauer who was interested in creating a restaurant that would showcase a menu influenced by his diverse background. He is also known in the area for The Green Marlin Restaurant & Raw Bar and Rosie Malloy's Pub. Chives first opened in a small space on Dixie Highway in 2013. A second location was opened on Royal Palm Pointe in 2014 and in 2018 Chive moved to current larger location on Miracle Mile. The Chives menu is vast. Their tag line is "quick, creative cuisine." Depending on what you order, you can experience New American cuisine, Traditional, Asian Fusion, or Soul Food. Order at the counter and craft you ideal meal of a sandwich, salad, tacos, bowls, or burrito from an array of fresh toppings, proteins, and dressings, or choose a menu selection created by Chives. Once your meal is ready you can take it to any one of the booths or high tops in the dining room decorated with recycled panels turned into art or eat outside on the inviting courtyard patio at a picnic table. You can also sit at the full service bar which offers the same create your own menu and even more menu options not offered at the order counter. Sounds confusing? It is but worth getting the hang of. The menu also offer fresh fish, soup, and daily specials that included big smash burgers, lunch baskets from 11-3 PM, and BOGO smoothies from 2 to 4 PM. I decided to order at the counter and after studying the menu before coming in I knew I wanted the Korean Beef Tacos made with seared steak, lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, Thai glass noodles, cilantro, scallions, and feta cheese and topped with Sriracha Aioli & Judo Chop in 2 flour tortillas. The beef was tender and the tacos were full of flavor and crunch. Everything is cooked to order and I was able to watch the platting of my dish in the open kitchen by no less than three people. You can tell that fresh ingredients and care go into the food crafted here. For my side I chose the macaroni and cheese. It was a creamy incarnation of the dish rather than my preferred southern style, baked version. It was ok, just not to my taste and kind of bland. I probably should have ordered some kind of vegetable. if you are looking for creative, healthy choices without sacrificing taste, Chives is worth visiting. read more

Our first time to Chive in the 3 years we have lived here! Excellent casual dining spot. We went for Happy Hour and shared Korean and Swordfish tacos, Smashburger and Cocktails. All freshly prepared, plentiful, and delicious. Met Mark the manager who welcomed us and stopped by our table to see how we were doing. Waitstaff was pleasant and efficient. Came here the other day to try their wings and some appetizers. At the time I went it was rather busy but I sat at the bar. Ambiance was neat and the bathroom was clean as well. For my appetizer I had ordered the reuben egg rolls and they were something else. I was really impressed that this exists. And for my entree I had 20 chicken wings. Half mild and the other half was sauced in a sauce called awesome sauce. The wing special is probably the best deal in town but I was not pleased with the time limit, I think the special ends at 7pm and the wings are only .79 cents but celery sticks and other sides are not included and you'd be charged regular price for those items. I enjoyed my visit and will be coming back to try their other sauces and other options of food. read more

Was on a work trip in Vero Beach and definitely pulled out my YELP to check out the hot restaurants in the area and this place came up as one. When I arrived, there was no hostess degree so I just assumed that you're supposed to sit down and waiter will come and take your order, but that wasn't the case. You have to order your food at the front desk For sit down and then somebody will come bring you your food so totally different and reverse for me. I had the Korean tacos. They were so freaking delicious mind blowing great! I also have their margaritas which was four dollars all day long not bad at all. I wanted to try their shrimp Poboy, but I guess I'll have to try it out another time when I'm in town. read more

Late night quick bite takeout without suffering through fast food. Two Mahi and scallop fish cake salads and a side of Swiss Mac and cheese. Super fresh and good. Salad had options of a lemon dressing or Cajun remoulade. Tried with both- flavorful but the lemon was my favorite. Salad had fresh salsa, pineapple, corn, black beans, greens. Swiss Mac and cheese you can get with or without bread crumbs, and a side is actually a lot. Service was quick, staff nice. We went as 1st timers. Bar area has full service otherwise order at counter. Many options I went with Thai chicken wrap, has lettuce, carrots, clear noodles, chicken, feta cheese, peanut sauce and sriracha mayo; wrapped really nicely so it stayed together, overall very fresh. The feta was a bit of a miss for me with the other flavors, had a slight kick which was perfect, just the right amount of noodles and chicken. Fries were my selected side. Husband had the Korean beef tacos he said they were good and his side was chips and salsa which he liked. Service was friendly and helpful. Looking up places to eat on the way home from an outing my husband and I thought the Chive menu was just what we would like. We were prepared for the seat yourself and walk up and order unless sitting at the bar. Ordering was easy and prices seemed in line with most places we frequent. We had the smoked fish dip which was pretty good, my only dislike is when the dip is placed on a bed of greens. Our food arrived quick and fresh as everything is made to order. Everything tasted good and was plentiful. The dining area was clean and not horribly loud ( we had a group of ladies at the next table that were definitely having a great visit!) Table clean up as well as beverage service is self serve/clean up. I don't know if I would go out of the way to visit again but if I was a local I would probably frequent. read more

My expectations were set extremely high for this place considering the reviews, I should've known to just go to the bar instead of the counter, big mistake. The girl taking orders behind the counter did not listen to us when trying to order she seemed angry when we were trying to slightly modify our order due to allergies which there is a sign saying they will happily accommodate. I had to send my food back because it had one of the ingredients I asked to take off. The man working the register was super nice and helpful despite the situation. And not to mention, the pricing considering you basically serve yourself AND clean up after yourself is a little bit absurd. But the bartender seemed to be very nice. read more

If you enjoy paying twice the amount you should, this is the place for you. We have been double billed each of the last 3 times we went. I told my brother and he says it happens nearly every time he goes also. the staff will fix it once you point it out but if you don't check your bill they got your money. The Taco Tuesday special is good if you like to eat horrible flavored tacos. The owner of this restaurant also owns the Green Marlin, so better check your bill there too. I think the owner is getting ripped off from his own staff... If this continues I am contacting the better business bureau. read more

Terrible. First, the food. I ordered the steak bowl which had barely any food and I was shocked by how soggy everything was. The rice and beans were also overly wet, not at all what I expected for a meal that is $15 and was honestly very disappointing. To make matters worse, the service was subpar. I was told I could upgrade to more steak and the staff tried to charge me extra when there was barely any steak in the first place. I came here with my father and was a bit underwhelmed. First off, when you come in, there is a bar right by the door, but it is not imeadeatly clear you need to order at the counter at the back-right of the restaurant. We ended up finding a table and the owner let us know after a few minutes waiting that we needed to order in the corner. Went there Taco Tuesday. You pay $2 for each chip and redeem at taco bar. You can get chicken, beef tacos or same nachos. You add toppings and sauce. Well, did the nachos and added the toppings. Bartender, girlfriend of the owner took exception to my portion and text him. Won't go back there ever again. Other places appreciate my business. I was looking for a quick and healthy place for lunch while in Vero Beach. I saw this place highly recommended on yelp. I went ahead and ordered the mahi & scallop cake salad with 2 cakes. I was surprised how good this dish was, the vegetables were fresh and the cakes were amazing! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly too. Stopped in on a nice Saturday afternoon for lunch around 12:30- it was pretty busy but we were greeted quickly. She was able to tell we were first timers and explained the process of the place to us. We picked a table outside and brought the menus. We pondered for a bit since the menu was pretty extensive. Settled on splitting the ahi tuna nachos and I got the Korean steak tacos. The nachos hit the spot, I think they put sugar of some sort on the chips? Not sure but enjoyed the dish. The tacos were super filling with unique toppings like noodles and different kinds of sauce. The beef itself was bit tough unfortunately but had good flavor. Enjoyed the broccoli salad. Nice outdoor seating and even more seating at the bar or inside. I do think the pricing was a bit hefty but the food seems relatively fresh. read more

I tried this restaurant for the first time and feel it's just "ok". It seemed as though the bar was their main focus and their menu offered "bar food". Food is ordered at the counter Chipotle style. My wrap in which the chicken was dished out of a pan, was served luke warm and was similar to what i could have made at home. My wife's smash burger was served dripping with grease. The service was friendly and the bar was hopping with a younger (for Vero) crowd. Their menu says they also own the Green Marlin which appears to always be busy, however, my one meal there was also not enjoyable. Would not recommend coming here just for the food. read more

The entire thing seems a big confusing and disorganized. I am sure if you are a regular its just fine. My wife had one of the bowls, which seemed pretty tasty. I gave up trying to figure how to order and just had the local smoked fish dip which was pretty awful. Literally one scoop of dip, like the size you'd get with sorbet, and a bunch of crackers, for $12.00. No great taste, very plain. Should have been two scoops. Just not enough. Chive is a great, low-key, quick serve restaurant in Vero Beach. They serve a variety of sandwich, salad, and soup options, and also feature a full bar. My family and I went there for a late lunch and all ordered the build your own salad. You start at their full service salad bar, where you tell their server your protein of choice (chicken, beef, pork, etc.). I opted for their grilled marinated chicken ($10.99). You then move on to the next section of the salad bar where you can select as many toppings as you desire. They featured a wide variety of toppings, and everything seemed very fresh. They also had a variety of dressings, I highly recommend the citrus vinaigrette (very tasty!) I thought the salad was a great value for the money, and service was very friendly! I also noticed the bar had very good drink specials (including $3 margaritas and $5 Tito's drinks, all day every day). read more

Tonight's visit to Chive was just "okay." We enjoy the happy hour drink specials, but the food was very average. Our bartender, Deanna, was very friendly and provided great service. The scallop tacos was a serving a two and came with one side. The scallops tasted like they had been frozen and from a bag, deep fried, and then not drained well, so were a bit soggy. The side of broccoli salad was a bit dry and quite bland in taste. The Cuban pork sandwich also came with one side. The sandwich was good though the "side salad" was more like a small plop of lettuce and a few chopped tomatoes on the plate with the sandwich; it was not a full "bowl" of salad. The shrimp po' boy also came with one side. The bun was toasted on the inside, but cold on the outside, the grilled shrimp were cold, and cabbage slaw did not add any flavor to the sandwich. The side of swiss mac and cheese was good, but only luke warm and would have been better served at a warmer temperature. Our meals were disappointing. The prices point on all the sandwiches were reasonable, however the quality of the food was only average at best. I would come back to enjoy their happy hour, but then go grab dinner elsewhere next time. read more

Sadly, this restaurant has lost some of its charm for me. Fish tacos were tasty and fresh tasting, but beef tacos were a miss. Supposedly Korean style beef but I wasn't picking up any Korean seasoning or flavor profile at all, and the meat was dry and tough/chewy. Service was friendly and efficient and parking is plentiful. Very noisy inside once the place starts to fill up. Hate to say expensive for what you get, because everything is expensive now, but yeah, close to $50.00 for two with no alcohol seems like a lot for tacos. read more
