The hang out deck near the ocean is perfect for watching a full moon!

Well, to be honest, Waldo's is not a great place for vegetarians and lactose intolerant people (unless you're the latter but you can eat seafood and meat). But you can't beat the atmosphere and the location. All I can order are a few sides whereas my friends are having seafood or burgers. My choices: a side salad, an order of fries and a side of fruit. It comes down to nice company, atmosphere and location. And don't get fooled by the online menu: they are no longer serving fried green tomatoes or a veggie quesadilla. Our server really did her best to help me with my choices.

Service was fast and friendly. Love outside seating with live band. Sandwich was a little dry which lead to being chewy.

19 years ago when my wife and I closed on our brand new home in Vero Beach Waldo's was recommended as a place to have dinner to celebrate. Over the years service and food has always been excellent. Always loved reading from their menu, especially the history of the establishment. Some years four times we would visit it was always our goal to place especially with company. The menu has changed. The food has changed good still but I couldn't classify it as excellent.

Overall good experience. Loved the backstory on this place. Sat inside as an hour long wait to sit outside around sunset time. Service was alright. They were busy. We got the sampler platter. Mozzarella sticks were the fave and coconut shrimp too. The fish and chips were good, crust could be a lil lighter. Potato skins were a special app at the time, good and a lot of them too. Attached some menu pics since no prices found online.

Lunch for 5

We drove :90 to meet friends here for lunch, Waldo's is a beach front, poolside restaurant at the Driftwood Inn with a casual reasonable menu. There was some street parking & a free lot. The appetizers, salads , tacos & sandwiches were fried fish & chicken focused. There are no reservations, and we waited briefly for our outdoor table. We sat at the colorful bar with my expensive Waldo voodoo juice in a bucket made with Malibu, passionfruit, mango rum, pineapple & cranberry juice. The drink was intimidating because it was so huge, but it just tasted like a very sweet punch there wasn't much alcohol. For lunch e started by sharing their Key West Conch fritters and the southern style seared tuna tacos listening to the band play. Appetizers @ lunch came out together. Lunch was okay, prices were reasonable, service was on point & the scenery was perfect.. The story here goes that Waldo Sexton arrived in Vero Beach in the 1920's building the Driftwood Inn, an extraordinary hotel in Florida by voice command only, without plans. The result was this 2 story hotel with balconies everywhere surrounded by pole railings with turned or peeled-log supports. Nothing is square or level, and the main porch eases itself through shifts in level a little like a frozen wave. He decorated the inn, with a, mish-mash of ships' bells, wheels & cannons. I saw the top of S.S. Breconshire shipwreck from our beachside table.

I probably would have given them 5 stars except our supposedly alcoholic drink tasted like flavored sugar and we hardly tasted alcohol. Waldo's is a beach front, poolside restaurant at the Driftwood Inn with a casual reasonable menu. There was some street parking & a free lot. However finding a parking spot may be more luck than brains as we were lucky to find a spot. I had a frozen strawberry margarita and my wife had an expensive Waldo voodoo juice in a bucket made with Malibu, passionfruit, mango rum, pineapple & cranberry juice. The drink was in a large glass, but like my margarita it just tasted like a very sweet punch there wasn't much alcohol. For lunch we started by sharing their Key West Conch fritters and the southern style seared tuna tacos listening to the band play. Appetizers @ lunch came out together. A good atmosphere with a live band and outdoors by the water and spot on service. Other than the price of the drinks, the prices were reasonable.

This Vero Beach restaurant is attached to a historic Driftwood hotel. It's next to the water. If you sit on the patio you'll be pool side. The day I visited there was live music. Waldo's was quite busy, but it wasn't too loud. The burmuda triangles were excellent. The sauce a perfect compliment to the fried mozzarella. While the fish and chips were good. It's not the best version of this dish I've eaten. The fish was fresh. But, I'm not a fan of the batter. It's almost too thick. Makes the fish less enjoyable. Over all I would visit this restaurant again! It has great energy and vibes.

Waldo's is pretty average overall, but the view is absolutely amazing. It's a very drift-woody, worn-down bar and restaurant, but the oceanfront scenery makes it worth a visit. I had the mahi sandwich, which was just okay, but we really come here for the view and that classic Driftwood vibe.

We went with a group for lunch. The server was very helpful and friendly. There is a lot of seating inside and outside next to the beach. We ordered the sliders, burgers, conch fritters, pasta salad , Mac and cheese, onion rings and beer battered fish and potato wedges.

5 stars for atmosphere, as this is right beside the water. So this is what will draw most people. The sandwiches were good and the fried green tomatoes were a hit, but I was not a fan of the fish tacos. They were large, with a good sized piece of fish inside, but the "blackened" fish had no seasoning. And they piled on cheese on top. I'm not a fan of cheese on fish, so this just didn't go. I had to scrape it off. Would come back for the location, but I wouldn't order this again.

This place is a great getaway, especially for those staying at the Driftwood Resort. Our party of four, on a (football) Sunday night, felt welcome and well attended to. I lost our receipt, but our server was awesome! We got two orders of chicken wings, calamari, fish and chips, a pasta and seafood combo platter (forgot what it's called). Everything was outstanding! The wedge fries were hot, well seasoned and delicious! I wish I had my receipt to reference my meal, but seriously, everything was super yummy.

One of the best meals i've had from restaurant in couple years beside a few my favorite spots in my hometown and surrounding area of Farming, CT. Fresh, Friendly, local. That is how after two different visits while in town the past 2 weeks is how I would describe this place in 3 words. Niko was Great - He made our experience that much more on both times we stopped in as well as even the 2 different employees who handed us our meal. This was so nice to experience especially from a "Counter Service" style joint. My 3 Tacos were so good, fresh, and we were recommended to try their WTF taco which is always nice to venture outside of my normal chicken or fish routine especially being that tasty. (I got this both visits it was so good) My husband is still talking about what we want to try on our next visit down. They even had some yummy soft serve ice cream that was perfect after our Tacos and my husbands burrito bowl. I have read some reviews saying 'Hole in the wall' but I think "Not so secret, hidden gem" I think suits this place a little better. On both of our visits they seemed to have a steady flow of customers especially our first night when there was a line out the door at 7 on Saturday night which actually was our sign to maybe check them out. We are so happy we did, and can't wait for next visit.

It's also sort of on the ghetto side which is super appealing to me The building is small and very easy to overlook. Thankfully the outside is painted orange so that it stands out. She was even purring. The inside of the store is a grocery store of some sort well I have treats and drinks and miscellaneous things inside. If you go to the back you can order food there's a sign that shows the different plates they offer. I saw that they had the Tex-Mex taco so of course I got a Tex-Mex version and a regular Taco so I can compare the two. The lady who took my order answered all my questions about what was going on. You pay at the register and then pick up your food outside when they call it out to you. The food itself was really good. The taco shells had an interesting texture where was all flat. I'm betting that they're made somewhere close by. The tacos had a good amount of meat of them it was very filling. It was mostly the style where it's a lot of meat and a little bit of veggies. The bathrooms look like they recently had a makeover it seemed clean enough that I could go potty. I can't wait to get back here and try some of the other items on their menu. And their food is also priced at a very fair price compared to others around town.
