Food a bit above basic but great choice of cocktails and really pleasant service. I had dark and stormy made with Bermuda rum followed by Waldo's lager. Unfortunately but understandably in unique but plastic glasses. Baked Brie good without being exceptional. The pittsburger burger had fries, slaw and meat in a sandwich. A first for me but good. Waldo's was, unfortunately, a frustrating experience from start to finish. From the moment we sat down, the service set the tone in the worst way. Our waiter came across as both rude and inattentive, making us feel more like an inconvenience than paying customers. Basic requests felt like a burden to her, and her attitude only added to the discomfort of the evening. What made matters worse was the restaurant's refusal to close the door, despite strong, freezing winds blowing directly into the dining area. It was genuinely uncomfortable to sit there, and rather than addressing the issue, the staff seemed completely unconcerned. One member of our party actually had to wrap themselves in a blanket just to stay warm, which is something you would never expect to deal with while dining out. As for the food, it didn't justify the price point at all. Everything was noticeably overpriced for what you receive, especially considering the lack of care in both service and atmosphere. When you combine the poor service, uncomfortable environment, and inflated prices, it's hard to find any reason to return. Overall, Waldo's missed the mark in nearly every category. Well, to be honest, Waldo's is not a great place for vegetarians and lactose intolerant people (unless you're the latter but you can eat seafood and meat). But you can't beat the atmosphere and the location. All I can order are a few sides whereas my friends are having seafood or burgers. My choices: a side salad, an order of fries and a side of fruit. It comes down to nice company, atmosphere and location. And don't get fooled by the online menu: they are no longer serving fried green tomatoes or a veggie quesadilla. 19 years ago when my wife and I closed on our brand new home in Vero Beach Waldo's was recommended as a place to have dinner to celebrate. Over the years service and food has always been excellent. We sat at the colorful bar with my expensive Waldo voodoo juice in a bucket made with Malibu, passionfruit, mango rum, pineapple & cranberry juice. The drink was intimidating because it was so huge, but it just tasted like a very sweet punch there wasn't much alcohol. For lunch e started by sharing their Key West Conch fritters and the southern style seared tuna tacos listening to the band play. Appetizers @ lunch came out together. Lunch was okay, prices were reasonable, service was on point & the scenery was perfect.. The story here goes that Waldo Sexton arrived in Vero Beach in the 1920's building the Driftwood Inn, an extraordinary hotel in Florida by voice command only, without plans. The result was this 2 story hotel with balconies everywhere surrounded by pole railings with turned or peeled-log supports. Nothing is square or level, and the main porch eases itself through shifts in level a little like a frozen wave. He decorated the inn, with a, mish-mash of ships' bells, wheels & cannons. This Vero Beach restaurant is attached to a historic Driftwood hotel. It's next to the water. If you sit on the patio you'll be pool side. The day I visited there was live music. Waldo's was quite busy, but it wasn't too loud. The burmuda triangles were excellent. The sauce a perfect compliment to the fried mozzarella. While the fish and chips were good. It's not the best version of this dish I've eaten. The fish was fresh. But, I'm not a fan of the batter. It's almost too thick. Makes the fish less enjoyable. The sandwiches were good and the fried green tomatoes were a hit, but I was not a fan of the fish tacos. They were large, with a good sized piece of fish inside, but the "blackened" fish had no seasoning. And they piled on cheese on top. I'm not a fan of cheese on fish, so this just didn't go. I really need to stop ignoring my instinct and just leave when things just don't feel right. Surprisingly, there's not many places to eat around here. I guess I'm missing something or the options are really just that small. We gave up and decided to check out this treehouse looking building. I walked in and didn't really have much faith that the experience would be good. We were seated inside right away since the outside was a long wait. The waitress came over pretty quickly and she was attentive. We didn't need much service besides my constant hydration for more unsweet tea. I ordered the fish sandwich and my friend just wanted the brie. My food came out like any other ordinary sandwich dish. The fish was pretty flavorful with no complaints there. I did really enjoy the mango sauce that came with it. The pasta salad was absolutely disgusting. My girlfriend's Brie looked quite horrific. She seemed to enjoy it, but when I tasted it, it was pretty bad. She was disappointed with how boring the brie was presented on the dish. Have you ever heard of pastry dough that you can wrap around brie and maybe put some jelly inside of it and bake it to actually have a presentation? This was just cheap and laziness for an $19 overpriced piece of cheese. I could've literally made the entire description that I just mentioned with a bag of crisps for the same price. And it actually would've tasted good not look like something that's been sitting around for a couple weeks. When the bill came, I put $40 in cash since it was split between my girlfriend and I and the rest was paid with a card. I mentioned this clearly to the waitress, but the card was charged in full and I would assume she thought $40 on a $50 bill was her tip. You must be out of your damn mind. I had to go up to her and have her void the charge and then make a correction. Luckily enough, this was noticed and not something that was quickly ignored just to leave or if we did have a couple of drinks and weren't paying attention. This could've easily been very frustrating having to go back and convince them that I gave her cash which has no trace, was actually given to her. This is why I don't pay with cash, but unfortunately, that's the only way my friend pays. I would suggest for anybody else that needs to learn this lesson. Keep the cash put the rest on the card so no error or missing money goes unnoticed. Would I come back here, absolutely not. This was due to a number of factors besides the incident. I am not a tourist but a local so this place was just checked off on not to return or recommend to anyone. read more

If you're looking for a place to eat lunch on the water this is it. We shared an appetizer and had a couple drinks. Happy hour is 4-6 and only certain drinks are half price. Came here with my husband and 2 young daughters for dinner and sat right by the ocean. Beautiful view. I ordered the mahi mahi special and it was very good. Came with a loaded baked potato and pasta salad. Our server was helpful but he was playfully pushing ordering shots and more drinks so my husband will "have a good night" and sort of teased my husband (who doesn't drink) for being "Mr. Responsible" .
