Went to the Mai Thai Bistro after a recommendation and after reading lots of good Yelp reviews. It lived up to the good press. It's a nice looking place. Very clean. Our waitress was very friendly and professional. My wife said the bathroom was A+! The food was very good. My wife had the Cashew Nut lunch special with Chicken. She said it was very good. I had the Thai Fried Rice with Shrimp - medium spicy - very very good. The lunch specials also came with a salad. I think it was the best ginger dressing I've ever had. Delish. The restaurant was very busy. It looked like a lot of regular customers which is a great sign. We saw some beautiful sushi platters going by. One was arranged to look like a swimming fish. Exquisite! We finally made it to the Mai Thai Bistro to give it a try after hearing positive feedback from neighbors and friends. We were excited about the Monday night special of $1 oysters on the half shell. We shared a dozen as an appetizer. The oysters were fresh and a nice size. They could have been just a tad colder. We also had the Tuna Poke Bowl entree & the Thai Fried Rice with Chicken. Both were very good and generous portions. Food came out quickly from time of placing our order. This is a small venue with a small parking lot, limited seating, and a small bar. They do offer outdoor seating, but in the hot summer months, it's just too humid for us to sit outside to eat. I recommend getting there early for dinner to avoid a wait, and there is additional parking around the back side of the building. The dining room is very clean and tidy even though a bit crowded with tight seating. It is also a bit warm & stuffy; likely from the frequent opening of doors to the outside. We were seated at a small table by the kitchen. It was a busy spot with servers coming in and out of the kitchen & in and out of the door leading to the outdoor seating area. However, our servers were on top of things getting us our drinks, orders, and food quickly. The servers could have been a little more interactive with us to make it a more personalized experience. We were seated where we could watch the sushi & rolls being made. Everything looked just wonderful! Another hidden gem in Vero Beach! Fresh Food, great service! This is another one of our favorites! Try it, you won't be disappointed!

I'd seen a lot of great buzz about this place in different foodie groups, and it lived up to the hype. This place has been open for 8 months, and seems to be the best version of what's been in this spot. They have a nice seating area out front, which was much quieter than inside, which had some very noisy groups, so if the weather is good, I recommend the outdoor area. We started with Papaya Salad. It was bright and colorful and very light, with a delicious dressing. The only thing that wasn't so great was the papaya, which had no flavor. Perhaps papayas are out of season now? Not sure, but the actual star of the dish was the least tasty part of it, so perhaps the kitchen should discontinue this dish if not able to get good papayas if out of season. My dining partner was unimpressed with that and would not order it again. Moving on to the dinner entrees, the Drunken Noodle with Duck was excellent, topped with a generous portion of crispy, well-seasoned duck. You can get the spice level how you like, so we prefer not too spicy, and this was perfect. The sauce was delicious and light, and the noodles were good with just the right bite to them, not mushy or gummy. The dish was full of flavor without making you breathe fire. The Barbecue Eel Poke Bowl was a beautiful collage of fresh colors and flavors. It's hands down the best poke bowl I've ever had. Cucumber, edamame, Japanese radish and seaweed added vibrant color and texture, and warm barbecue eel starred in the center. It was a delicious mix of vegetables, and not overpowered by rice. The menu is large, with so many great choices. They also have a nice lunch menu. It's right next to my favorite nail salon, so when I'm in Vero Beach, we'll be stopping at this place a lot. read more

The food was good. Cute atmosphere and nice outside area. The drinks looked amazing but I only had a beer. Too sweet in general but tasty and nice portions. The waitress ( maybe owner?) was very rude. She was argumentative and never smiled and never checked on us. We had to flag down her or someone else working to get more water, hot pepper oil and another beer. I would go back but definitely request a different server. One of the easiest 5-star reviews I've posted. This place is clean! Even caught a glance at the kitchen through the swing doors, spotless! And the food, matches the expectations. Fresh, delicious, and absolutely outstanding. Get there early or make reservations. We arrived early at opening and got a seat no problem. Second visit was also as delightful as first with a few minor items: 1. some of the fav items are not available like Uni, Giant Clams. Maybe just not getting supplied yet. 2. we came during Happy Hour so it was a bit noisier than we would love, but it's not the restaurant's fault. 3. The sake menu was limited. Again, it's just the clientele and what the restaurant can sell. also not their fault. order a bottle and it was not too great. Other than those, staff(Lora) was extremely accommodating and helpful during our stay. We got to have: Dumpling, Dancing Eel rolls, Fresh Rolls, Plump Duck, Fried Rice, and Pad See Ow, as well as Toro, AmaEbi, & Aji and a noodle soup w Duck togo. Coffee was pretty bad, stay away from it. I did see Wagyu on the Omakase page and asked if they would have an off the menu Wagyu dish and was informed of a Wagyu tatare. We opted to skip it. Repeat? Last night was a perfect night to sit outdoors and enjoy a leisurely dinner without a lot of noise and interruption. The cocktails were amazing, and beautifully presented. The Youzu Love was sparkely and delicious. We had Miso soup, drunken noodles and plum duck which were all perfectly prepared. Not being big eaters we were nevertheless allowed to stay visiting and never felt rushed, even though every table was full, including the bar area. Love this place! We were a group of 5 and dined midweek for dinner. Upon arrival in the late 5 o'clock hour it wasn't busy but it was packed with a decent size line by the time we departed. We started with a few appetizers to include steamed dumplings and spring rolls. I tried both of these and was impressed. The accompanying sauces were equally as good. This restaurant has a full bar and they also offer mocktails. Finally, they feature both sushi and Thai on the menu. A couple of us ordered sushi and the remainder ordered Thai entrées. I ordered both a roll and Pad Thai because I couldn't make up my mind. I also wanted to have leftovers for lunch. I ordered the Beauty and the Beast roll which features tuna, avocado, and eel. I prefer my sushi to have brown rice but unfortunately this isn't an option here. The fish was fresh but the roll in totality wasn't impressive. On the contrary, the Pad Thai was fantastic! I enjoy spicy food so typically I order Thai spice or 5 star. Fortunately, I ordered medium spice. This was the hottest medium I've ever tasted and one of my table mates had to return his meal because it was overly hot. One could see his Pad Thai was doused with red pepper flakes and he too ordered medium. I enjoyed mine, but am sharing so one can be in the know when ordering. I thoroughly enjoyed the Thai cousine here as well as the atmosphere. We dined inside but they have a great outdoor dining area too. Albeit, it is small. Sat down right away and food came out very quickly which was super nice. Met a local couple who said this is their favorite place to go and everywhere they've been doesn't even come close to Mai Thai. I got the chicken pad Thai medium level. It was SO good, little spice but my lips weren't burning after eating. My partner got the red curry with shrimp medium level. Very tasty and it was leaning more on the hot side than mild. Attentive staff. The sushi. Very solid. My wife liked hers a bit more than I did. Although nothing was bad. I had a JB roll, Tuna Lover roll and a spicy tuna hand roll. They were good. Second visit for the 10-course Omakase. Not what we were expecting. The first course was a tuna tartare followed by 9 sushi "courses." We did enjoy some of the courses, but the scallop, shrimp, bottom left and salmon were texturally unappealing to our palate. It just wasn't our taste, but we learned of some options we really loved. We definitely LOVED the tuna tartare and the butter pecan ice cream. It was so refreshing and yummy. We did end up getting more food afterwards. The plum duck, shrimp pangang curry, and fried bananas were wonderful. The manager is so amazing. My first lemon drop wasn't as sweet as the one last week so he gave it us on him. Also removed my friend's drink off that didn't taste like the first one she received. The manager let our boys raid the Halloween bucket and helped them go through the available candy.
