I stopped in Saigon Sushi for a mid-week lunch. Stepping inside I noticed that everything seemed subdued; lighting, noise, a hurried ambiance. It felt like you were invited into a small home, eclectically decorated, for good dining. I was immediately seated and a server brought a complimentary bowl of ginger chicken and rice soup and a small plate of delicately cut vegetables and fruit-enough to 'amuse the mouth'. I chose the sushi combo ($15.99); six pieces of fresh fish and the chef's recipe for sticky rice. It was delicious. The California roll was very good as well. A side of cubed raw fish and raw vegetables were tossed in a sweet and sour marinade. I asked for extra pickled ginger but only a small amount was sided with the wasabi. The iced tea in a tall glass was refilled and was only so-so. The chef came out for a satisfaction check and a greeting. The service wasn't great... we waited like 10 minutes just to get greeted at the table. They did bring us a little salad appetizer that was pretty good though. Then we ordered the chicken drunken noodles and the seafood green curry. The drunken noodles were one of the best I've ever had. The curry on the other hand was just okay. You have to go if you love Sushi or Thai or Vietnamese food. It was our first time visiting and we were glad we made reservations. It is a hidden gem with a 'not so great' exterior. We were not sure they were open as the 'OPEN' sign was not lit. Once inside the place is small, welcoming and inviting. You are not hurried and the waitress was very helpful in explaining the menu, the size of the portions and the various options. There were 4 of us and we each had something different. The Vero Beach roll was really good as was the tuna roll. The seafood Pho was exceptional. Great place to go but if it was this busty on a week night I am sure it requires reservations on a weekend. Good portion, solid flavor, tender beef, and noodles cooked right without being overly oily. Lime and peanuts on the side let you adjust it how you want. Reliable, fast, and satisfying. I was really disappointed with our visit to Saigon Sushi today. The rainbow roll had very skimpy portions of fish, especially for the price they charge. It felt like the quality has gone down significantly compared to what it used to be. Be careful with take out they like to leave off items in your order! The miso soup was also not good at all--inedible, which is something I don't usually expect from a place like this. Overall, it seems like the quality has declined especially if you're ordering takeout, where you don't realize the portion issues until you get home. When I tell y'all do not judge a book by its cover, I definitely mean it! This place is the place to be! It's definitely a hole in the wall must be family owned. The customer service is amazing. The chefs are sweet and very persistent and focused! I sat at the bar with my best friend and we just grabbed a sushi to go since we saw the area was a little bit packed and boy wasn't worth the weight! The sushi here is pretty decent. Not over the top but ok...better than a lot of other sushi restaurants in the area. The unagi is a standout, but some of the chef special rolls were disappointing. The spider roll was absolutely tasteless. The real problem with Saigon is the place itself. It's dark, it's dirty (sticky tabletops with flies and gnats swirling around). There is no flow with the space -- it's all chopped up into little cramped seating spaces. Adjectives come to mind: dirty, dark, cramped, dated, kind of yucky. I felt like I needed to shower when I got home! The servers were very nice however, and I think they mean well. But this is not a place I would suggest of propose when someone wants to go out for sushi. read more

Saigon sushi has a new way to order online. I ordered a Beauty and the Beast role with eel sauce and Sriracha on the side and an order of the large garlic shrimp with the garlic sauce on the side. This was a pick up order. When I arrived, the pick up order was already wrapped in a to go bag with the top tied. When I returned to my hotel room, the garlic sauce was not on the side and there was no eel sauce or Sriracha. It was like they didn't read the details of the order. While the food taste good it's disappointing that it didn't come the way I ordered it. It's the little things. Sure wish lunch sushi combo weren't all with "chef's choice" sushi. I love sushi but not eel or octopus, so I don't gamble on the chef's choice. Interior of the restaurant very dark yet quaint. This was so unbelievably delicious. I am (mostly) vegetarian and I have never had sushi but I decided to try it on whim and I'm so glad I chose Saigon Sushi for it. I got the veggie sushi platter (it has no meat) and it was absolutely phenomenal I ate almost the whole thing! I didn't get to look at the other side. The menu is extensive. So much to choose from. It took us about 10 minutes to figure out what we wanted. Staff is so sweet and attentive. Service is prompt and there to explain to you anything you're not quite sure about. Water comes with the most adorable origami flower sticking out of the straw. On to the food. I had the volcano chicken with steamed Vegetables. Comes out super hot and beautifully presented yes on the plate. They give you Saigon salad to cleanse the palate prior to getting your meal. Delicious. The batter on the chicken is super light and crispy. Will definitely get that again. My dad has garden vegetable pork with steamed veggies in a brown sauce. Presentation was loVely and he dove right in. The food is amazing. Quick and fresh. The staff too notch. Is the place a 10 on the interior?... no but who cares when it clean, delicious and prompt. And context matters. In Vero Beach, this is a five star sushi restaurant. The food is excellent, the service is fantastic, the atmosphere is...meh. If you are looking for a fancy restaurant to celebrate your anniversary, this isn't it. But if you just want excellent sushi, fantastic service, and a decent price, this is the place to go.
