4.5!! We really enjoyed. After taking in a Sunday matinee movie..while we were in Vero....we wanted to visit American Icon. I don't super recall having one of their beers at the Stuart beer festival, so I was excited about 'retrying' it. First, the building is awesome. Read the history on it, but also hard to ignore the giant generator that the beer comes out of it....super cool visual. I like the vibe of the place overall, and the patio seemed really nice but since it was our first visit I wanted to take the inside 'all in', and glad we did. Ok..the beers.... Flight: 6 5 oz pours for $15. Reasonable enough.. We started here just to see what pint we each wanted: *Freedom Tourch Stout: I loved it. *Hazy IPA *Double Vision IPA: Really enjoyed it; just amped up the hazy a bit. *Hef: Decent (not a super fan of hef, but wanted to sample) *Lager: Decent, it's a lager: * Icon IPA I ended up with an Icon IPA as my pint, enjoyed! Ok..the food * We split 10 wings for $16. Naked with nashville hot and blue cheese on teh side. Really enjoyed, meaty. * We also split a burger..the fun guy (funghi). We upgraded to sweet potato fries. I thought it was delicious, and the swp instead of marshmallow fluff had a maybe sweet cream cheese dip (i don't care it was delicious!) :) Now they were out of a few beers that was my first pick (including the Saison) but I guess it was others picks too..hence why they were out! Came back for second time and this time it wasn't as good as the first time. Beer selection was limited due to supply, pizza was burnt and had too much sauce, chicken Asiago sandwich had almost no jam and was so dry. The avocado was a half plopped on the sandwich, and wasn't even sliced. Asking for more jam took forever. The server was nice but she had so many tables and we had to wait for a long time to get things. The Mac and cheese was so dry the kids did not like it. The two side Caesar salads were different portions for the same price. The pretzel and cowboy burger were amazing. Disappointing overall. Will we be back? Sure, we just won't order some of those items. read more

I have been to AIB several times but this was the first for a gathering up to 20 people. Glad to say that all went well. The server, Wyatt, was attentive and fast. He was friendly and helpful to the large group. He started by sharing the two beers that were not available. Disappointing but understandable. Several appetizers were ordered and they were brought out together. Positive reviews, especially on the naked wings and garlic Parmesan and buffalo sauces. I ordered the Hawaiian poke bowl. It was just okay. Gummy rice and too few chunks of tuna but it was flavorful. The Belgian tripel was very good. Others in the group ordered the bbq ribs (moist and delicious), the steak and rice bowl (excellent) and wraps and burgers. No complaints. Wyatt refreshed drinks and waters as needed. I've had a hard time finding a beer in Florida that is any good but I have to say this beer wasn't bad. I'm not really a beer drinker so these were pretty good for my pallet. Now for food: Only had appetizers but they were delicious. What I disliked about this place is the lies. They put one price on the menu but it's really 18% more. They tell you it's for the servers but if it's a mandatory charge, then it's a scam. Like a bait and switch in a store. Dishonest practice. If they feel their employees are worth 18%, then pay them and increase the price and stop the tipping. read more

Loved this brewery! It's an old diesel power plant so the history behind the building and the generator that is still there is very interesting. Very large building. Loved the 1926 Hefeweizen if you like Hefe's. My boyfriend's an IPA guy and enjoyed the Icon Haze. If you like a good mix, try the Berries N' cream with the Hefe or the Icon haze, both were so good! The buffalo cauliflower was on point. The street corn nachos weren't our favorite, but not bad. They have a great beer and food selection and the staff was very attentive. Also a fun shots menu. We were at American Icon with a large group of people. The reservation had been made in advance, and it could not have been a better experience. Our table was set up with silverware, napkins, water, and menus ahead of time. Our waiter, Christopher, was absolutely outstanding, and didn't miss a beat. Had a great 4th of July weekend visiting several spots in Vero Beach and this brewery took the #1 spot! Food was delicious! The full rack of ribs was thick and falling off the bone good. We were so hungry we didn't take a pic! lol! Enough for 3 people to eat. The pork tacos were also very good and had more meat than tacos in Miami for sure! American Icon Brewing in Vero Beach is one of those places where the building alone already has your attention. Set in a historic power plant, it keeps the original industrial bones intact--high ceilings, natural light, and history on the walls to remind you this place existed long before craft beer was involved. A real win here is the space. Actual space. Inside, outside, grass you can walk on, air you can breathe. It's refreshing to not be wedged into yet another strip mall where parking is a competitive sport. You can grab a beer, wander a bit, sit outside, or toss a bean bag like it's a casual suggestion rather than an organized event. It weirdly reminded me of Minnesota--in the best way--where places had room to exist without shouting over traffic and neighboring businesses. The vibe is relaxed without trying too hard, the beer is solid, there's a full kitchen, and you can enjoy all of it without feeling rushed or overstimulated. Bonus points for being dog-friendly--bringing Ellie along was a win, and she seemed perfectly content soaking in the scene. Also, as a Harley rider, the "motorcycle parking" sign did not go unnoticed. Small detail, but appreciated. Overall, it's a place that lets you hang out instead of herding you in and out, which feels increasingly rare. read more

It was time to use my gift certificate from my oldest son so in we went. Greeted and sat quickly upstairs, never had sat there before but liked it. Tim came around before we knew it and we ordered a beer and a vodka, with lemon juice and blue curaçao. Perusing the menu while we waited for our drinks we decided to go with the boneless pork chops with mashed taters and green beans. Didn't have to wait long for our meal and it was delicious! Nance decided we were having dessert so we got the apple cobbler Al a Mode. Great flavor but it was like warm at best. That's why I gave it a 4 star instead of 5. Terrible experience. They automatically charge 18% gratuity, which I guess makes sense because the service was the worst I've ever had. I can't help but wonder what service would've looked like had the server been expected to work for the tip. I will never return, even though we come to Vero anually. read more

Food was great. Service was kind of a hot mess. The staff was very nice, that's not a problem. They made a point of telling us there is an 18% operations fee (mandatory tip) added, which was nice to know. But. They forgot it put one entree into the order queue for the kitchen, so it was not delivered and showed up after the rest of us were nearly done. Then. They comp'd us one beer for the 20 minute late meal. And they got the three checks mixed up into two checks, all crossed about and wrong, and comped the wrong person with the beer. This place is popular. The food and beer are very good. But they know it, because the costs and attitude reflect it. Like I said the People are nice. But it is not nearly as great an experience as it was the first several times we came. I love this place. Hope it calms down when snowbird season is over. read more

Great service and decent enough food. The GM came over to let us know why the calamari app was taking a while but when it came out it looked and tasted great. Chicken wrap was tasty, as were the pizzas. The bathroom was odd in that the placement of the mirrors caused you not to be able to see yourself (at least in the ladies room). Went there around 1:40 on a Saturday so clearly after lunch rush. Lots of empty tables outside and inside yet told it was a 30 minute wait due to kitchen being behind? So the 3 of us sat at the bar and ordered two beers and a glass of wine and waited, and waited and waited. Finally after 40 minutes we checked with hostess who finally decided to come back to her station. She told us kitchen was still behind and couldn't sit us? So after a discussion we decided we had enough and asked for bar tab paid and left making sure we told staff to take us off the list. Was dissatisfied that they also automatically charge you 18% gratuity without notify you when ordering at the bar. I can understand 18% if a large group but three people paying a gratuity for non service is a warning to others who may go there. If people decide to go good luck. I usually post photos in my reviews but can't post photos when you don't receive any food. Disappointed beings I had gone last year and it was good and wanted to share that experience with family members this year. Food was good, ambiance was good wait staff was really good but I dont frequent auto tip establishments. We usually tip 25% and never do we not tip, but when it's forced on us it's the straight 18% and we do not return. Maybe raise the prices 18% and say no tipping allowed. read more

Came from the Team USA HPP competition and the service was great, seated immediately, drinks thirst quenching, food hot and delicious, appetizers fast hot and bountiful, mozzarella sticks on fire and hearty and the street corn nachos piled high with toppings overflowing and flavorful. Our visit Sunday was easily the most memorable but laughable encounters we've ever had at a brewery. We sat at the bar and waited quite awhile for any bartenders or staff to acknowledge us or take our order. To our surprise, a man who seemed like a manager came up and informed us that the refillable water bottles we'd brought with us were "highly illegal" to have at the bar and that we'd need to return them to our car. We assured him they were just filled with water and that we were passing through town on a road trip and that this was a peculiar way to greet guests on their first-time visit. His demeanor and attitude was so off-putting that we told him we'd head to our cars and never return. During our exit we noticed another family eating at a table with a similar water bottle they'd brought, and asked him if theirs was also highly illegal too, or if we'd been singled out. There was also a baby bottle at the same table, was staff concerned with its contents as well? This interaction was completely avoidable for a reasonable person, and will be shared far and wide with friends so they can avoid this establishment. With staff like this, it's no surprise that their Fort Lauderdale taproom no longer exists. read more

well. second time here. great building. our server Wren was nice and provided as good a service as I think she could've. we sat at the bar waiting for our table. for a while. should've been clued in then that things were going awry. they were out of pretzel bites. we made it to our table. where I tried to order pizza then steak salad and they were out. once our food came my wife had a handful of fries and our friends had no sides. the deliverer said talk to your server. anyway. they ended up having no fries, no ranch, no burgers and apparently no thoughts of providing discounts. we did get a military discount. the wings were good. They took the barbecue chicken pizza off the menu and that was the only thing I liked so because I was hungry I ordered nachos with chicken and I couldn't believe they actually brought that crap to the table. What a joke 23.00 chips out of a bag lettuce and a small amount of sauce and dried chicken. It was disgraceful. I didn't even touch it. I requested it without corn because I can't eat it but it came out with corn here and there anyway. I was so mad but my husband gets embarrassed if I say anything so I just didn't eat . He got pork chops and said they were so dry. I still can't believe he paid the 85.00 and said we just won't be back. I didn't want to pay for anything but didn't want to upset him . Burgers were tasty. We didn't order anything else but observed other diners enjoying their appetizers. Place was busy and packed from when I arrived at 4:30pm until I departed at 6:30pm. Staff was great. The only critique I have is to provide hostesses with a better ability to track tables and improve communication. I'm ok with auto service but I don't agree with it being taxed. Came here for lunch in a Monday. The building is an old historical power building with old machinery inside. Spacious and comfortable, they had a lot of outdoor seating. We ordered some wine which was great, fresh. Started with deviled eggs- those were good. A bit plain but the sauce on the side helped. I had the grilled mahi tacos. Good size with toppings. The fish was eh. Definitely tasted frozen and a bit overdone. Others ordered the mahi sandwich which was the same fish as the tacos. The burger was mediocre. The best items here were the fries. The plain and sweet potato fries were delicious. Service was great. Might be back for the atomsphere and to try the beer, not for the food. read more

The 3 of us wanted a good juicy burger! Outside as we went in there were several sellers of various merchandise. Since we had to wait 35 minutes I went to view each stall. I did purchase pickles that the gentleman makes himself that and a whole variety. Inside Icon it was packed with customers. Finally a booth was clean and readied for us. My son loves the variety of beer available. The variety of burgers are outstanding. I am the man in the middle who does her own thing. I ordered garlic parmigiana wings with ranch dressing. Both men had hamburgers. Only my son had beer. But then he wasn't driving. Anyway we really enjoyed the food and are anxious to return. Wish they had more fish on the menu as well as sautéed calamari. Oh well Enjoy yourselves and the company of all the folks laughing and smiling and having a great time. It has been almost a year since my last visit and I would give our visit two thumbs up. Our server, Dennis, was awesome and made our grandson's first birthday extra memorable. Beer selection is extensive and excellent. We always enjoy sitting outside with a laid back atmosphere and plenty of seating. Apps were great: pretzel and the nachos (which were a very large portion). Cowboy burger was good, but definitely lacking a bit in flavor. Early dinner yesterday with some family. We had been given some cards for FREE flights of beer at an Octoberfest event and finally gotten here. Started with the buffalo cauliflower it was hot and spicy, and deviled eggs which were "alright" the only descriptive comment I got from the crew was "taste like they'd been in the refrigerator too long." My cousin had a Rice bowl with steak which he enjoyed. The rest of us shared pizzas. The crust was very good but there were not enough toppings on them, ask for extra cheese. The flights of beer were excellent! I am not an authority on beer. I can say that the descriptions of each brew were accurate. My favs were the Hot Shot and Florida Heat. The dessert selections are limited, we wanted to try the Snickers Empanadas but that was not available Our server was just attentive enough. I appreciate a server who can read the room. This spot is a half way point for us so we'll be back and hopefully I can increase my rating. read more

Before BF left, he stepped inside for a good bye and a kiss. - Staff, approximately 6, congregated at the patio bar to eat and visit in their dirty uniforms. - There was a 18% service fee automatically added to our check, for a party of two, with the option to add a tip upon paying the check using the QR code on the check. - Overall this was our first visit and not impressed.
