Oh my! What a nice place! I found this looking for recommendations on Yelp. It's located kinda deep in the Kimpton Vero Beach Resort and Spa. I parked on the street, walked thru the beautiful "entrance" past the valet parking to the front door of the resort. Then thru the door up the stairs around and back to the also spectacular pool area. To the left and over to the reception desk of the Heaton. It's open to the ocean, surrounded by beautiful palms and hedges, a fire pit over to the right. We were seated quickly, given a menu and drink order taken. The menu is comprehensive w well appointed options! I ordered the spare rib apena she ordered fish tacos. We also had a smoked fish dip app. Food was nice, portions good, prices fine. This was my first visit to Heaton's, suggested by friends to meet for lunch. I've been visiting Vero Beach for many years and can't believe I've been missing out on this spot!! It's perfectly situated on the beach, and next to the Kimpton pool. Our server, Jaylana, was such a delight! She suggested excellent drinks - my favorite was Blood in the Water! Poor girl looked like she was melting and did her best in the July heat outside. $26 for a smash burger with no side is a bit much, but not surprising for a hotel pool bar. Lovely final evening of our vacation was spent here at Heaton's! We had absolutely gorgeous ocean views, which is why we decided to try it out. I got their newest cocktail the Flying Carpet and the Grilled Octopus. The cocktail was unique and refreshing, would be perfect for a hot day. The Octopus was flavorful and had a variety of components that made the dish extremely enjoyable, it was my first time having Octopus and it's safe to say I would have it again after this! My only complaint is that if you are not a guest at the hotel it is difficult to get to the restaurant and you have to walk across their pool deck. Might just be worth it for the views and food though! read more

Well, the view here is really fantastic & The food was very good. It is very casual and comfortable to hang out at. ( although the seating are a little worn I think anyplace on the beach gets that way quickly but at a fancy hotel u would expect more luxury)...but what was really excellent was the service and the way they handled a situation. My cousin ordered a burger and she was really looking forward to it because she barely eats burgers and this is a highly recommended place and she figured for 25$ it's gonna be really good. Although it said Smashburger on the menu, she didn't really understand what that was as it wasn't really described ...especially since she requested an almost raw very very rare...mooing....burger....which we who dine out know can not be obtained via smash burger because they are essentially so thin and well done they can't be that rare..... They just never mentioned that when she ordered so when it arrived she was very disappointed so when we told the manager, he immediately got her whatever she wanted and took it all off the bill with loads of apologies....so that was lovely....but the burger wasn't. She had a salad with a piece of salmon and it was ok. My husband had an excellent turkey bacon club sandwich on excellent whole grain bread, he felt it was a winner. I had truffle fries as a side and they were very thin, crispy hot and delicious...and the Grilled Octopus appetizer/ small plate as my main which was Fantastic....so were the Pina Coladas...we willbe back and we will also try cobalt which they said emphasizes steak. read more

I brought my sister in law who was visiting from CT. It was her idea as it was recommended. We shared the iceberg wedge to start. It was pretty good. She ordered filet mignon which was delivered raw. I ordered short ribs which were barely warm. We sent both back. While we waited, the server brought bread " hot out of the oven" which quickly cooled into a hard, stale, obviously microwaved loaf. For the price (hefty!) and the location (oceanfront at a kimpton hotel) there were zero redeeming qualities. I would not recommend Heatons to anyone. read more

Easy spot to grab food or a drink from the Kimpton resort. Sits right at the pool area. We checked in and got lunch. We chose a Caesar salad and a turkey club. The salad was okay. Definitely not bad, but not impressive. Simple things like the greens having similar cuts - some pieces were massive and some were smaller and easier to eat. It was very hot out, and we were sitting outside, but in a covered and fanned area. The salad was very warm/wilty when it arrived. The turkey club was a little embarrassing. I don't even know how they put the turkey on the sandwich, but there was a random gap in meat when you looked at the cross cut. There was one piece of lettuce on the sandwich - literally the size of domino. Why bother? The bacon was good and tasty. The bread was over toasted and very dry / the entire sandwich was a bit dry and kind of difficult to eat for that reason. Neither item was bad, but neither item was good. Husband and I were sharing the sandwich and salad, and we ended up putting the salad onto the sandwich to help make it easier to eat. The view: fantastic. A beautiful view of the ocean from the entire place. The servers were also great, from our arrival through our entire meal. Hostess, busser, server... all were on top of things. read more

The service is great, drinks good, food not. My husband ordered the Short Rib Arepa. The cheese in the arepa was rubbery and bland. So not good since there was an extreme amount for an arepa. They put some chili oil over it, an EXCESSIVE amount. It tasted funny. I ordered Linguine with clams. Let me start by saying, my husband who does not cook, made this dish for me on Valentine's Day following a recipe sent by our daughter. Fantastic! This is my favorite meal when I'm out to eat and it's on the menu. This was horrible here. They rendered lardon. Which sounds like a good idea, if you drain the fat and allow for a nicely prepared sauce. The noodle served (not linguine like I have ever had) more a slender egg noodle on this plate was a poor choice. If you decide to visit here. I suggest sticking to the drink menu. read more

Came in on a gloomy Sunday afternoon. We sat outside near the heaters. The view was still nice even though it was quite cloudy. Our table of four split some appetizers as a snack in between meals. The tuna nachos were by far the best, then the chicken wings, and in last place were the fried calamari. The fried calamari were unfortunately battered too thickly that you couldn't really taste the calamari- in some pieces it was just the batter. Service was fine and the pricing for the size of food was a bit much... but in some sense, you're paying for the ambience too. Would maybe come back on a sunnier day for drinks! read more

The fire pit way off to the side is nice, but I much prefer those at Cobalt, both on Vero Beach Hotel property. The food is more casual here than Cobalt, and it's not bad. I'm not a big fan of live music while I'm trying to have a conversation and eat dinner, especially when the musician is terrible. And he was. Awful. read more

We had lunch twice here during an extended weekend at the Kimpton. The location and convenience can't be beat. The food was just okay. Kids enjoyed the burgers and fries. Fish tacos were a bust. All the garbage they put on the tacos ruined them. Do better guys. Second time was better with a salad with grilled chicken. Hummus appetizer was subpar. So long as you come here for the views and ambiance, you should be very happy. The service is always efficient and polite, and the food comes out of the kitchen fairly quickly. Drinks/cocktails are delicious and refreshing. It's a lovely place to hang out and arguably one of the best beach-side views/spots in Vero. The food unfortunately is only mediocre and massively overpriced, even given location. The menu looks promising but falls short in execution. The much anticipated (at least by me) lobster roll came out with little in the way of lobster and on a dry, stale bun. Fish tacos undistinguishable as being fish give the heavy-handed breading. It's a shame. This place could be beyond fabulous, but it can't seem to make its mind up as to whether it wants to have food that matches the setting and vibe of a spa or provide food that is comparable to any other seaside shack you can find - but at upscale prices. Perhaps it doesn't matter. After all, even having left feeling a little ripped off we will no doubt return as we always do. Partially because of nostalgia, and partially because it really is just such a fabulous venue to spend time in. read more

Came here for lunch, great view of the beach. Nice environment. We ordered oysters and they were fresh and right sized. Service was great, they definitely cater to you. I would given it a 5 star if they didn't serve drinks in plastic cups like our old fashion and Prosecco. But honestly everything was great. read more

Update: going for dinner here was an entirely different experience than going for lunch. First of all: no vegan items on the menu. However, they were kind enough to make us a beyond burger. Second: the service was pretty poor. There was a private event next door at the Cobalt; perhaps Heaton's was more crowded because of that. Our server was so busy, he hardly had time to check on us. I had to go to find him to get vinaigrette for the side salad as there wasn't any on it. Third: the cocktails were too sweet; mine tasted more like grenadine than like the coconut or pineapple it was supposed to have. Fourth: The air system that was blowing cold air outside made so much noise that my ears hurt when we left. I won't repeat dinner here anytime soon. The view is still stunning though and the burger was tasty. read more

We were given the most amazing VIP service from the Manager Serge and the Bartender Tommy- they were both phenomenal. They both took such great care of us with 5 star service. Never even got into the door, made reservations as it was advertised as a buffet, called to see what was on the menu and the person answering the phone could not even speak English. I've been to Heatons many many times over the years with my friends who live in Vero Beach. Today we met friends for lunch. Although the location is amazing and the beach view something spectacular, we were amazed at what the have done with pricing. EVERYTHING IS ALMOST DOUBLE the price it used to be. A lobster roll used to be $25 and it is now $45 .... almost double the price for something that hardly has any lobster in it. Such a rip off! The drink menu was so expensive we all passed on a beverage and had water. The appetizers cost more than a normal entre and the entres are beyond expensive. Total rip off. As my friend said, they are pricing the locals out of their restaurant and it is only good for visitors who don't know any better. I won't be returning. read more

Moved to vero a couple years ago and hadn't tried heatons yet. Went with the wife for lunch last week. Bar staff was very friendly and greeted us a we walked up. Tall gentleman server was also really welcoming telling us to sit wherever we like . Mostly empty restaurant. So we chose a corner table on the elevated patio where we had a nice view of the water and a good breeze. This is when the female server Toni came up and told us we couldn't sit there because she was saving it for bigger parties. We were a little confused as the place was mostly empty including other medium sized tables. We asked her to clarify, asking if reserved for someone. She said she's reserving it for bigger parties and we could go sit below but not there. So we went to the lower level where you can't see the water and there is no breeze. Our server, who's name I can't recall, was nice and took care of us despite my confusion about the online menu which it seems is way out of date vs the current offerings. My fault though there. Table we wanted stayed empty the entire time we were there. I would happily try this place again, but having an encounter with a server who decided we didn't fit the bill for who she wanted in her section at a table so pushed us elsewhere after the rest of the staff were so kind is really off putting. Our lunch was ruined by this interaction. You don't reject your customers to try and curate who your customers are in your section. Toni is Rude AF! read more

We had a fantastic evening out at Heaton's. The hotel staff were friendly directing us to the restaurant. The Bar Tender we passed welcomed us and was quick to guide us to the hostess. We were quickly seated and had a front row seat to an incredible lightning storm. Jonathan was our waiter and had us sorted for drinks and appetizers in no time. The Cheshire cocktail was refreshing and the crab and artichoke dip came out hot and tasted great. The fried chicken was a home run! The honey in the batter made this the best chicken I have had in years. It also came with a unique style of cornbread that tasted great. My wife had the filet which was perfectly cooked and delicious. The restaurant was very tasteful and in a beautiful location.
