Sometimes I've boarded her, which usually causes her to be reluctant the next time we go for day care. Not at Pups and Pals! She is so excited every morning! The daily schedule allows for group play and indoor rest. The staff evaluates the dogs' personalities, size, and energy levels before putting them in a group. Playtime includes best friends, lots of cuddles and kisses, pools in the summer, and always playscapes. They go out anywhere between 6-8 times a day, with breaks in their air conditioned suites. The building is super nice, very new, and the play areas have K9 grass that keeps their paws nice and clean. I especially like that it is hosed every night. BTW there's a groomer onsite! Just a heads up -- it's hard to see the marquis from the 1st street entrance. You really need to know what you're looking for! April and I give Pups and Paws 4 paws up!

I have a very anxious 6 mon old Laggoto Romagnolo and I asked them to help reinforce good manners as my pup and I work with a trainer to get these mastered. Dog Socialization is critical for him. He had a broken leg at 10 weeks old and could not walk or put weight on it for 9 weeks and so his start was a little unconventional in socialization. I know he gets his fair share of play and what puppy doesn't like play? Since I did travel for work a great deal and as Covid subsides, my travel will start to come back. My pup has stayed overnight and I feel super confident as a worried Mom that he is well taken care of during his stay.

It is difficult to find a doggy boarding/day care that provides such well rounded, holistic approach to pet care. We have used Walk ATX for boarding, day camp with pick up and drop off included, and for in home check ins with walks. As well as their add-ons like baths and fun photoshoots. Mo is a party animal - we are constantly training, working with him and we fill all of his needs. Yet he is an energetic, happy 2.5yo rescue from Austin Pets Alive. He is a foster win actually. He's always soooo excited when he realizes he's about to get dropped off at Walk ATX and he's welcomed with big smiles and a huge "Hi Mo!!!!!" by the passionate and hard working staff. Walk ATX does pack walks, outdoor playtime in their yard with staff assigned to different groups of dogs. I love that there's constant supervision and a structured day. Including rest/down time, which is just as important as to not overstimulate the doggos. It seems as if Walk ATX has only gotten better over the years. They've incorporated training, special add-ons, and cool adventures. Last time Mo stayed with them while we were in Costa Rica, Britton and the team were super attentive (Mo was on limited activity for the first few days per our vet), and even called to give an update, in addition to their daily updates via email and on their app "Time to Pet". I know Mo is cared for and looked after by a group of caring animal lovers.

Once I found Walk ATX it took me a while to get in contact with someone, called a couple times, left a voicemail, sent a couple emails -to no avail! Sent a dm on insta as a last resort and finally got in contact with someone! Yay! Erika helped me set up my account and went over daycare. Dropped my pup off for his first day! First impressions matter to me and as someone who is nervous I would have loved to see them greet my dog. Instead the woman at the front ( not sure her name - mullet - immediately went into a quick " take off the leash. What's his name? You'll get an update at 11" And then I watched her usher him straight to the backyard. No saying hi to the dog, no convo with me, no easing his nerves, no questions about him, no petting him, no introductions, nothing. I didn't love that, especially since it was our first time and it made me much more nervous to drop him off there. Around 11:00 I started to look for updates, none. Tried to call 3 times, no answer. Again this is his first day so not hearing anything on how he was doing and getting no photos - nerves then rose to an all time high. People are allowed to have bad days so will update this after a few more times. Just know the first day is not as informative or warm may not be as warm as you'd expect.

He is literally one of the most kind people I have ever met. I remember when we first moved to Austin and needed to find a babysitter for our Saint Bernard and us being so nervous to leave him for a few days with someone we had just met once. But fast forward to 8 years later and I would trust David with my life. Our dog's get excited when we pull up to his house and the tails don't stop wagging. Both our boys give him kisses as soon as they see him and you can just tell they feel safe, loved and take care of when they are with him. I can't possibly say enough good things about David!

My dog Toby is a very....special dog, and by "special" I mean unusually particular (will only drink…read morewater if the bowl is outside, etc.) and has a bunch of daily medications for glaucoma in his remaining eye. He will also cry/howl/make pig-like grunting noises non-stop if put in a crate or kennel - he's a free range Toby. So when my parents wanted to fly us out to California for the holidays, we knew finding someone to take care of Toby was going to be a feat in and of itself. Fortunately, I stumbled across 'Runs with Dogs' in the depths of the internet, on a random thread. The owner of Runs With Dogs, David Lee, is awesome. He will come to your house or you can drop your dog off at his house, but I recommend his house because he's got a NICE set up - puppy paradise - large backyard, tons of toys, and even a couch for the pups to sleep on. He also walks the dogs every day, sometimes twice a day - huge bonus for Toby. David is reasonably priced ($25/day for boarding and $10/day for each additional dog - so a really good deal for multi-dog families) and will treat your dog as well as his own. He did a great job ensuring Toby got all of his meds, so I highly recommend him if you have a "high maintenance/special needs" dog. Finally, David is hilarious, so that's always fun. ....I hope I didn't just blow the lid on Austin's best kept puppy boarding secret.

Sara leaned in hard to the lies…read more The second time she was hired to watch my two dogs overnight, she skipped the entire first day and night then excessively lied about it. One pup slept outside in 45 degree weather. She spent 5 minutes with them at the "overnight visit" even though she confirmed details the day she was supposed to start. Perks of having a smart home or security system is you know when someone comes in or out of your house, turns on lights, walks by a sensor, etc. I was out of town and there was no activity happening at the house after 18 hours. I called and reached her on the third try. Her whole lie was things were going as planned, that she accessed my house using a physical key on day 1 because the smart lock wasn't working. However, home activity shows she arrived for the first time at 5:30am on day 2 and made multiple failed attempts with the smart lock. No need to keep using the keypad when it failed the day before, right? Day 1 failed entries would have registered just as day 2 failed entries did...if they'd happened. The dogs hadn't been fed based on the servings of food that had been left out. The bed hadn't been slept in. When I called to express concern about the 5 min visit- she started a nonsense story that she'd taken the dogs to her house bc she couldn't get into mine (yes, you would have to get into my house to get one of my dogs). She later said I misunderstood what she was saying. On the call, she was just waking up from a dead sleep (before 7:30am) but admitted she wasn't at my house. She had the audacity to end our call after I cancelled the remainder of services, text me exhaustively throughout the day about how I'm blindly trusting tech, that my dogs are challenging and it's "silly" to start over when all petsitting roads lead to her anyway. She was "concerned" over me probably not being able to find someone to take care of them after I fired her in the middle of my trip, harping on her 13 years of experience and reputation. Incredibly immature. It's jarring to be lied to so hard, she lost all credibility. Even after I explained my concerns to her and sent her activity logs- all she had to say was I'm sorry you feel that way. She also threw in she didn't care about a bad review. Good riddance.
