I met Laurel 7 years ago when she was working at a dog training facility that I was taking my puppy, Bucket, to. She helped Bucket pass her Good Canine Citizen test then (which was a feat, considering she can't pass people without wanting to jump on them) and helped us leash train her. Fast forward to now, my husband and I adopt an old golden retriever who lived a previous life full of abuse and fear. She is a sweet dog, but lashes out with growling and barking when she gets scared. Laurel taught us how to read her body language so we could remove her from scary situations. She also taught us to replace her scary experiences with good ones. For example, when we have people over to the house, we give them all treats so that she associates people with her favorite thing - treats! In the last year, she has gone from terrified and reactive to sweet and welcoming. If you need training or boarding, I can't recommend Laurel enough. I wish I could give Laurel TEN stars!! When my husband and I were returning home to Dallas from vacation in deep south Texas, we planned to have a business meeting in Round Rock on a Sunday afternoon over lunch. We planned to travel with our 11-year-old Yorkie, but knew we could not leave him in the car for a couple hours in the scorching Texas heat while we had our meeting in a restaurant. I considered boarding our pup in Dallas, but I really hated to board him for ten days because of a two hour meeting. I searched for a "doggie day care" place in Round Rock, but most didn't have Sunday hours. The few who did only offered 10:00 am - noon or 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Our meeting was to be at 2:00. I found Laurel via Yelp and liked what I read. I contacted her through the app for availability and pricing, and she answered very quickly (within 30 minutes). She was available, and her rate was super reasonable. We then arranged a time to talk by phone the next day to work out the details. Laurel is personable and fun, and when talking to her I immediately knew she is committed to her work and loves dogs. I was immediately peaceful about choosing her to care for our beloved Samson and thrilled he could travel with us as usual and still be safe while we handled our business meeting. It worked best for us to drop our pup off to Laurel's home, which was easy to find and just a few minutes from the freeway. Laurel offered to meet us at the restaurant to pick Samson up if that worked better or if we found ourselves running late. Nice to have a "plan B" if needed!! When we pulled up to the house, Laurel greeted us, and we were very comfortable leaving Samson in her care. He is fearful of other dogs, so I requested he not mingle with her other charges. She understood and made plans to keep him separate from the pack. When I could see our meeting would run longer than expected, I texted her to see what options existed since she had mentioned having a meeting of her own to attend. Without going into detail here for security reasons, I'll say Laurel had a safe, secure, easy plan that allowed us to pick up Samson after Laurel had left for her appointments. We had the time we needed in our meeting, and our delay did not cause her to be late to hers. She has thought of everything and has contingency plans ready on the fly and is very flexible. Samson was calm and relaxed when we picked him up. He was safely and comfortably out of the 98 degree weather, and this momma was one happy camper! Laurel made everything incredibly easy and gave us a wonderful option for thoughtful care of our little guy. It is a great pleasure to highly recommend Laurel to anyone in the area - even for just a few hours - who needs an excellent option for the care of their dog(s). I heard about her business several years ago from a friend and kept seeing updates on Facebook from people I knew who were sharing adorable photos of their dogs. I'm a sucker for cute puppy pics, so I followed her and can confirm she updates her clients all the time with messages and adorable photos of their pups. So here's the weird thing about my review. I'm not actually a dog person. I have two cats. But hear me out. Christmas Eve, our beloved Manx cat Tesla needed emergency care from the ER vet. They kept her off and on for days and we struggled to adjust our holiday plans to care for her. It was scary, emotionally draining, and expensive. The day they decided to release her, my partner and I were completely stuck and unable to pick her up from the vet's. I called friends and family with a desperate last minute request to pick her up before the vet closed--we just couldn't afford to keep her overnight even one more day. No one could help. But I remembered a conversation I had shared with a man at the ER vet's the day after Christmas. His dog was super sweet and so well trained that I commented on it. Turns out he'd had his dog trained by Laurel's Leash, and raved about how awesome she was with the dogs, how she did in house trainings and how she'd even pick up his other dog from the groomer's. He liked that she was local and so close by to the ER vet's. I remembered what he said about being close by to the vet. And I thought, she'll never help with a cat. But I called anyway because I was desperate. Not ONLY did she pick up my tired and scared furry friend at the last minute, but she took precise notes from the vet about what they'd changed in her medication, drove her to our home, ensured she had enough food and water, and sent me a photo. She even carefully set out all the bottles of meds according to how often they needed to be taken, sent me a text explaining it, AND called with a voicemail for a verbal explanation just to be safe. I almost cried when I got to see our girl Tesla again, and saw how Laurel had gone above and beyond a simple vet pickup. I know she probably sticks to dogs since that's her area of expertise. But I was so GRATEFUL to her for coming to our rescue that I wanted to write up my experience. She really cares, and you couldn't ask for better service. I tell all my dog people about her, and if I ever get a dog, the absolute first place I'm calling for training or boarding is Laurel's Leash. read more

Laurel is an excellent Dog Boarding option! She is equipped to handle dogs of different size and energy level. I have a 16 year old Pug that has separation anxiety, early morning fits and she had no problem taking him in last minute and over the busy Christmas break.
