I have owed these guys a review for awhile now. I have been using them for in-home pet-care visits while I'm out of town for probably a couple of years. It's far and away the best choice for me: way, way cheaper than boarding, and easier on my little buddy, too, since he gets to stay in a familiar environment. Now, I only have one easy-peasy kittycat with no health issues or complicated routines - but *I* am sort of high-maintenance, in that I tend to be super disorganized and down-to-the-wire when planning my travel. They are not kidding when they say they guarantee availability for repeat clients. They have always been super responsive, kind, and reassuring in communications when I am feeling frazzled and worried about securing care at the last minute, and always ready to come in to save the day! Bella (Isabella) is not the owner but she runs the show day-to-day, I believe, and she is awesome, friendly, capable, and great at responding to messages. Depending on who does the actual service, I sometimes get photos and text updates and sometimes don't, but it has always gone well. Everyone seems trustworthy and like they are genuine animal-lovers. The only slight downside is that in the past they have seemed a little disorganized with invoicing/billing (repeat bills or not getting one at all) but now they have a new system that works very well. It also allows tips, which I appreciate, since I don't usually have cash on hand to leave as a tip. (Note for people new to pet-sitting services: you should leave a tip! I had to learn this.) Anyway as a single person, new to the area, and without a lot of people I feel comfortable asking to do favors for me, it is a great comfort to have this affordable service to rely on. I think I first chose Fur because they were willing to help me over a holiday, when other places said they wouldn't be able to accommodate a new client, and because of a Yelp offer. And I stuck around after using that coupon! read more

I'm on the fence about writing this one, as I had a great experience upon first meeting the owner and pet sitters of FUR. The operation is quite brilliant, and pretty affordable for the special attention given to your pup when away. However, our issue was not being made aware of the smoking in the home of where our boy stayed while we were away. Because he is a labradoodle, his hair locks in smells like human hair, and we were greeted with a smokey smelling pup - toys- and bed. We are not smokers, therefore this was just a few more steps to get him and his belonging clean after the trip. There are plenty of other pet sitters within FUR and I'm sure we could've worked something out to continue using them, however a friend now watches our little guy and we are very happy to have this option. If we need a boarding group again, we would come back to FUR for another conversation. UPDATE: Thank you for following up with us after this review and for the grooming gift certificate. After starting a new job that's located practically in Oklahoma and living in deep south Austin I knew I needed to do something to help my best friend make it through the day. I found FUR and was immediately put at ease. Bernice was able to come meet me and Penny late in the evening and Penny has been in love with her since. Bernice and her staff are dependable, reliable, and just plain nice. I love coming home knowing that Penny had some company and finding notes letting me know what Penny's adventures were that day. Fur has been our go to doggie care for years. This review is sooooooo overdue. We have two dogs, one who likes other dogs too much, and one who mostly does not like other dogs. Knowing our older dog gets to stay in her familiar environment is fantastic! Knowing our young spry dog gets a walk all on his own is equally fantastic! Fur has been dependable, super easy to work with, really just overall awesome. Bernice was kind enough to keep our younger dog during the holidays. We had family coming over and our small space could not handle his energy during their visit. When our older dog needed surgery while we were on vacation, Mike brought her home and made sure she got the rest and medication she needed. When our flight back to Austin was cancelled, it was easy to request additional visits. We have had several times that emergency trips out of town were required and getting doggie care was the LEAST of our concerns. I have worked with the owner of FUR for over two years. They have taken care of my two cats so many times that my big guy now wants to go home with the petsitter! They are consistent in who they place with your fur family so that stress is reduced when you are away because your pets become friends with their staff. They spend more time with your pets than what is required. They text me with updates so I won't be worried. And when I get home, my place is spotless. And, their rates are so reasonable. We had a long relationship with some wonderful women in Alexandria, so we were really nervous to leave our meows alone here for the first time. Wow...we are so lucky to have found such a reliable pet-walking/pet-sitting company. We have two high-energy Boxers whom we love dearly. However, one is very dog-reactive. He needs extra care when going on walks (maintaining a "safe" distance with other dogs, pulling over and sitting when passing other dogs, etc.). We had a hard time finding people we trusted that could handle his special needs (or honestly, people that were willing to even try). And we finally found it with Fur. Bernice has done a fabulous job and we always know our boys are in good hands. She even jogs them sometimes to get some of their extra energy out. And Isabella is always very responsive to questions and is a pleasure to talk to. So far, their staff has been wonderful. And I know anyone who walks them is educated about Murphy's special needs and takes extra care with him. It has been so nice to have someone we can call if we have to work late or will be away from home for too long. And if that wasn't enough, they have also been extremely accommodating and understanding of another special circumstance. My husband and I are expecting our first child any day now. Fur has agreed to have someone "on call" for us that will come stay with our dogs while we are in the hospital. Being able to work with us on that, to me, goes above and beyond. I don't think many pet-sitting companies would agree to have someone on-call, especially during the holidays. Bernice and her team at Fur are wonderful! She sends frequent updates of your dog along with photos from the dog park and her home. It's clear that your pup gets to spend time with other dogs and her family. Before I used a service that sent updates, I didn't know how much I would enjoy it. But I ws so surprised by how much it put my mind at ease. Although I was anxious to get home to see my darling dog, I was confident from the pictures that he was having as much (more??) fun as me. Bernice is very professional and came to meet my dog before his "vacation." She also picked him up and dropped him off at no additional cost. I have used other boarders/doggie daycares and Fur is by far the best. Bernice is amazing! Our labradoodle tore his ACL two weeks before our family was to leave for a trip to India over the holidays. The vet put him on a month of meds and we were warned he might need surgery. The kennel where we had him booked was not a suitable place for him to be as he healed. I thought for sure I was going to have to cancel my trip, but then I came across Fur. I called Bernice and she said she could take him in her home, so we went over to check it out. I was a little nervous because she has a puppy and small children and our dog was supposed to rest, but, boy, she knew exactly what to do. She took great care of our dog while we were away, making sure he took his meds, avoided stairs, and rested tons. She sent us pictures and updates every day. It warmed our hearts to see him looking so comfortable in her home. We'll be calling on her again because the experience was so wonderful: the kennel is now a distant second choice for us. We joke that our dog is bored at our house and wants to go back to Bernice's! And best of all, the leg seems healed so no surgery, which is a huge relief. read more

New to Austin and needing to find someone to take care of my yellow lab (something I'm not use to doing), I was fortunate enough to find FUR and Bernice. She was outstanding. She met with me prior to my trip so I would feel comfortable. I knew right away I had found the right person. Dropped Chloe off at Bernice's home which was a great place for my dog with no stairs as she is 13 years old and has a difficult time climbing stairs. Bernice emailed a picture showing Chloe asleep on her bed along with other updates letting me know she was in good hands. She was also very accommodating with both the drop off and pick up times. Bernice and the gang at FUR are fabulous! My baby has "vacationed" with Bernice many times in the last 2 years while my husband and I traveled. Katy is a rescue dog who usually cries and shakes when she is left with a caretaker, this never happens with the dog lovers at FUR. During my trips, they send me emails and pictures of my baby having a great time. I can not tell you how great is is to know that my dog is happy and healthy! I just tried Fur for an out-of-town trip and Aliya did a great job. I have cats, dogs and a chicken and she handled all with no problems. My landlord decided to do some construction work on the outside of my property while I was out of town, but Aliya didn't mind at all the last minute requests to keep the doggie door closed, etc. I plan to use them again for an upcoming trip. read more

I have been so pleased with Fur Pet Care! We use them once a week for dog walking/feeding and have used them for pet sitting in our home when we were out of town. I had never left my dog home alone before (it was over Christmas so they were booked up and leaving the pets at our home was the only option) but it went great and our fur babies got to stay in the comfort of their own home. This review is long overdue. I've been using FUR since I brought my newly adopted fur baby home 2.5 years ago. I'm very particular about the care my dog receives and I can tell you no one does it better than Bernice & her team. They are so flexible & accommodating & have helped me out of multiple jams, more than a few times. I use them for quick potty breaks during the week when I'm at the office, and take advantage of their in home boarding for those vacations when my little puggie can't come with me. Sally absolutely loves staying with Bernice. So much, in fact, that she didn't want to leave with me when I came to pick her up after her most recent sleepover. she then whined/cried the whole way home and was very depressed the rest of the afternoon. While it did hurt my feelings a smidge, it was actually kinda cute and I love knowing how happy she is during her slumber parties/overnights. It lets me know Bernice is still going all out for her customers. read more
