BEWARE!!!! THEY KILLED MY DOG!!! My family and I are beyond heartbroken!!! I boarded both of my dogs due to having to have major surgery. When I arrived, the staff was all new, place smelled of dog urine, but the staff assured me everything would be OK. I had major surgery in less than 3 hours, but I stayed extra to go over my request for my dogs. : "Dogs stay together, do not separate them, they stay in there " hotel room" majority of the time because they are very small. Etc." I bring a ton of stuff for for their room, too. After the events that have unfolded, I am questioning everything that they say is happening when you board your dogs!!!! After my dogs had been boarded for several days, they called me (just had major surgery- they were aware) to tell me that my dog was having trouble breathing and I needed to come get her! I was told by the main lady in charge(previously) if something ever happened, they take the dogs to the emergency vet! Obviously, I could not go get my injured dog, as I just had major cancer surgery, so I had a friend get her and rush her to the ER (ER was 10 min away! ) when my sweet baby got there she was bleeding internally. She passed away shortly after! Vet confirmed she was severely injured at the facility, causing her death. They did not act quickly to save her life, they let my dog die a slow painful death, while they did nothing! If they had taken her in at the first sign of something wrong, she might still be here. My other dog was attacked during the stay, too. This has been complete hell, and all this could have been avoided if they had done what they said. Instead, my dog is dead, and I am left completely utterly heartbroken. My dogs grew up together, so my other dog is trying to find her sister and it is so sad. My family is devastated, and heart broken. We are left with so many unanswered questions. The staff did not even follow up to see how my dog was! We called them to inform them that my dog died because their negligence and will be taken further action. They had one job, to keep my fur babies ALIVE, happy and heathy. The sweetest dog I have ever known was left in pain and dying at that facility and no one helped her. It is beyond comprehension. I would never trust this place with your beloved dog! My sweet angle is gone, and D Pet Hotel is to blame! I have been crying for days, my sweet baby is gone forever. DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING THEY SAY. EVERYTHING THEY SAID TO ME WAS A LIE!!!! read more

When I asked to see the actual area in the back that my dog would be staying they would not show me, I could only see the show rooms upfront. Who knows what is really back there. As another person mentioned on here - There was a large room of dogs left unattended for a very lengthy amount of time. They allow all breeds, even highly aggressive breeds. One of our pups is anxious and reacts in certain situations. We were very upfront about this and she was so accepting. When we moved to Austin in 2021, she took our 2 pups often for daycare and boarding while we got settled. She has administered meds with difficulty to our special pup but keeps trying new treats aside from the ones we provide. 9 years ago, my husband and I adopted a young male chihuahua who absolutely stole our hearts from the onset. We are empty nesters and so to say that our pup, Romeo is like a 5th child (we have 4 adults children) is an understatement. About 2 years after adopting Romeo, we learned that he has heart failure which totally devastated us. With that in mind, we are so very committed to giving this dog the best life possible, that includes making sure he has the best environment possible when we cannot be home with him. In the beginning after bringing him into our lives, we rarely traveled and the one time we did decide to take a trip out of town, we boarded him at a place we thought was wonderful (from past experience with a previous pup). We were horrified to see him when we returned. Romeo had literally lost 1/3 of his body weight after 12 days of boarding. For a dog who normally weighs 8 pounds, a 2+ pound weight loss is significant. That experience caused us to not travel without him in tow for many years. Air travel was dangerous with his heart condition and long car trips we hard on us all. We found ourselves back to square one. We needed to do something because we needed to have down time and yet we needed to be assured Romeo had the best care while we were away. In home pet sitters didn't work and most other kennels where too sterile and loud. Romeo sleeps on a pillow between our two heads at night so how was he going to survive in a noisy, cold, concrete cage? We lucked out and found D Pet Hotel which has turned out to be the most perfect solution for Romeo. He has his own little room, with a little bed and a TV monitor. A perfect hotel set up for pups! He is able to socialize and play safely with other dogs in a room that is only for smaller dogs. (The larger dogs have their own room). They also send us daily photos and reports on his progress and condition. They love on him so much while he's there that when we drop him off, he never appears or seems stressed. If he doesn't eat, they hand feed him and they patiently and diligently make sure his heart medication is administered. One time when picking him up when returning home from a trip, we found him in a Baby Bjorn carrier being carried around by one of the sweet staff. When that staff member learned we were his "parents" there to pick him up, she shed a few silent tears as she pulled him out of the carrier. It doesn't get any better than that. We are very grateful to have found D Pet Hotel at the Y in Oak Hill (Austin). They're the best! read more

Legit 5 star experience for both lodging AND grooming at D Pet Hotel! My regular place was booked up for vacation and I was able to get our lab accommodations here with only two days notice. I filled Out paperwork online and D Pets Staff noticed that two of her vaccines had expired that day ironically, so instead of just informing me of that information- they actually called my Vet directly and confirmed the Vet could fit in my pup for updated vaccines that afternoon and then reached out to me! If that isn't 5 star service alone then I don't know what is!!! I got the vax completed, went directly to D Pets so they could meet Moxie, have her meet another dog, gave her treats, got approval, and made the commitment to drop her off two days later. Though a few google reviews made me wary, my direct experience this far gave me confidence about leaving Moxie with them. She stayed 8 nights and I received direct texts with pictures of her playing and happy. She stayed in a regular standard "room" and was in great spirits being picked up. Thank you to Liza for all the last minute accommodations getting her reserved! It was such a relief! The real kicker too was holy god Moxie's lux bath that include a nail trim (the one thing in life she hates).... Well just WOW! Her coat has never looked better! So shiny and soft plus a cute bandana to complete her look to boot! It was dynamite! 5 stars all the way around. Don't let the questionable reviews deter you - looks like one situation was not good and maybe beyond their control, maybe a one off and I am so sorry for those people, - I'll just say our own families experience was 5 star and we will return for grooming and lodging! read more

The staff is absolutely amazing and they take care of your pet exactly how you want them to. We always feel so comfortable leaving our baby with them and know he will be in the best care. This review is directed towards the owner for being extremely deceptive about the boarding costs. I met Lisa before boarding and we discussed a 3 night stay for my 2 dogs. I liked the sensational suite (middle priced $95/night) and thought it would be comfortable for both of my puppies. I specifically said "3 nights for both dogs so roughly $300 and change for the stay?" while discussing this with Lisa and my fiancé at the front desk. My previous boarding did $100/night in a smaller room for both so it seemed like a better idea to book here. During my dogs' stay the workers were sweet and sent pictures and updates about my dogs and all seemed great. Unfortunately, when we picked up our puppies we were charged $600!? Lisa very calmly and calculated instructed that the $95/night suite is per dog. Where was that statement days earlier when I said "300 and change"? Clearly she had done this before. I work in the service industry and I know when someone makes an honest mistake or when someone clearly tries to be deceptive and scam someone (especially coming from the owner). The business card she hands out instructs $10 discount for additional dog but most would conclude that would apply if I had 2 separate rooms for multiple dogs. Either way, Lisa knows what she did was wrong and deceptive and now I know why most of these reviews are only for grooming. I like the fact that all the little dogs, like mine, are all in the same room environment because my little dogs are afraid of big dogs. D Pet has been our daycare and dog boarding place of choice for more than 4 years now and we have had a great experience so far, and plan to continue using their daycare, boarding and grooming services. The staff has always been very considerate, caring, accommodating and attentive. They work especially hard to ensure that all the dogs have a good time even if they don't all necessarily get along. They report any behavioral or health issues they notice so the owners can take care of it. Our energetic dog loves going there and is happily tired at the end of the day! Do keep in mind that it's an indoor boarding place, so your dog won't get any outdoor play time. My dog was rejected from Dogtopia down the street because he is very wary of strangers, he can have some aggression issues, doesn't like kids, etc. He's a grumpy puppy, but he is a rescue. I brought him to D Pet Hotels to try my luck because I had trip coming up and I really needed a place to board him. Since I was new to Austin everything was unfamiliar to him which made things tough. They did a meet and greet with Eddie and said he did fine. I was honestly shocked. I was so grateful that they really took their time to calm his nerves and spoke his language so to speak. I bring him to daycare a couple times a month to help socialize him and get him used to the idea of being around people and other dogs. They always remember him and each time I'm so shocked they are able to pick him up and he gets such a good report card at the end of the day. I always tell the girls that work there to call me if he is misbehaving or I need to come pick him up, etc. I've never gotten a call. A week before I got my first dog, I called D Pet Hotels to inquire about setting up her first grooming appointment. I ended up talking with Liza (the owner) on the phone for an hour. She walked me through what to expect as a new dog owner; what questions I should be asking vets, boarders, and groomers; provided advice about the adjustment period; and ultimately told me that she couldn't help me short-term as my dog didn't have proof of vaccination. Fine by me! Anyone who spends an hour on the phone and doesn't push a sale by the end because it's not in the interest of the animal is a hero in my book. Once I got my pup vaccinated, Liza and D Pet Hotels was my first call. I'll be the first to admit that London, a Coton de Tulear, is a spoiled velcro dog. She has separation anxiety and I was hesitant at first about leaving her for any length of time, be it a grooming appointment, doggie daycare, or boarding -- but the staff at D Pet Hotels LOVE HER. She's coddled and pampered there! We've been using The Groom Room for two years now. (April is our favorite!) She's been boarded there once for a long weekend and I received pictures the entire time she was there. When I lived closer, we also frequented Doggie Daycare, though now that I've moved an hour away, it's not quite as convenient. We recently needed to fly to Finland to attend my little sisters wedding. We could not find anybody on short notice to look After our two beloved Yorkie dogs, Axl and Calvin. Very upsetting experience. Our dog stayed there for two nights and when we picked her up she reeked of urine as did the hotel. I spoke to the owner Lisa who said that was common as the dogs step in urine and when they play it gets on them. She wasn't concerned with my feedback regarding the urine indicating this was common practice. First impressions make a big difference. I stopped by to check the place out and was truly impressed by the greeting I received. I was given a tour of the front end of the businesses which includes examples of the types of "kennels" used for boarded dogs. Super swanky! One point of concern for me is the play all day concept. I asked about the schedule for the dogs and was told they play 7a-7p and, if the parents requested, the dogs can take a break and be placed in a kennel. This is the first place I've ever encountered with a play all day schedule. I'm accustomed to play for a set amount of time, take a break and everyone retreats to their own space, play, take a break. Hmm. I also asked about breed specific restrictions and was super happy to hear that they assess each pet as individuals. Now THAT'S the right answer! Thank you for not bowing to ignorance! What a great place to have in the Oak Hill area! (Constructive criticism: this facility is beautiful and the website is filled with awesome photos. The large, inflated scowling bulldog on the roof is more suited for a security company, not a super cool, upscale dog-care business.
