We've been using APR since we moved to the area. Our girl doesn't generally like any boarding due to separation anxiety but she seems to do okay here. Never had any incidents or issues. I appreciate the simplicity to their process and extremely reasonable pricing. Staff are always friendly and they do decent departure baths so our girl is fresh and clean on her way home! I will say they could improve communication at times--sometimes emails don't get answered too promptly or they've forgotten a bath before. I also wish they could give more photos/updates of how our dog is doing and what her run looks like, but understand it's more of a no-frills place and she always come home doing just fine, so not a reason to avoid at all. Every time we go on vacation we take our dog here. She's a very large great Pyrenees female. She loves coming here so much that once I get her to the door she knows exactly where to go and never even bothers to look back and say goodbye. This is her vacation also. They seem to care and take care of the animals. It costs about $33 a night. The hours are good and they seem to be willing to work with you if you can not make it by 430pm, which is latest pick up time. I wouldn't push it too much though, at that point you might be paying for another night. They will put pictures of the dogs playing online that you can see when you check in on your dog. Ours is rarely put up, she is no ball of energy and prefers to sleep and lounge all day, but patrol at night. It is in her jeans. I do recommend using this place, I think if you do you will be happy. read more

Horrific experience. We took our two medium-sized dogs to Austin Pet Ranch for three nights in early-mid January, and when we them picked up, Mikko had lost 4-5 lbs and wasn't eating or drinking. And one of the employees proceeded to unnecessarily reprimand/scold Mikko--and in a mean way--for simple wanting to pee when she was leading him to the main building (my wife saw her, I was inside). Their soft dog mats were messily stuffed into the canvas bags we had them in and were filthy. After a day-and-a-half home we had to take Mikko to our vet ($330) where he had to have subcutaneous water injections and to take anti-nausea drugs before he finally began to eat, drink, and slowly put weight on his skeletal frame. I wonder if the dogs were being deprived of sufficient water so the employees did not have to let them out to pee--I can't otherwise explain the dehydration. I talked to an employee on the phone later that week, who seemed concerned--and I have had fine relations with the staff when picking up and dropping off the dogs (our second time at APR)--but he directed me to the employee/manager for the TH, FR, SAT when the dogs were there. He or she never called and when I called once more and had to leave a message, I never received a return call. Bottom line: the kennels seem dirty, the employees don't seem to care about the dogs' health well-being, and the managerial staff appear to be unaccountable. We would never take our dogs there again. Mikko could easily have died had we been out of town longer than three nights. read more

I absolutely love APR! My dog Nora has stayed here several times and they are fantastic. Nora always comes home clean, happy, and TIRED from playing and being loved on. I usually add walks to the creek so she can get some special attention and I get photos and updates during her stay. The staff are extremely knowledgeable in dog behavior and management and can accommodate your dog's med schedule and behavioral needs with ease. We've been bringing our young 5 month lab here for over a month and have had nothing but great experiences! We take her here about 3 times a week for daycare and have boarded her here as well. The staff and owner have always been great and get excited to see her each day. The staff is great about giving you an update on which dogs they were playing that day. Our dog is always excited to get out of the car and go play in the morning and comes home EXHAUSTED (see attached picture for proof!) We love that we've found a place that we trust with our pup! I have been taking my two big dogs here and they love it here. I have been to more expensive "luxury" dog boarding places where dogs don't get to be dogs and I just think that is lame. Dogs get to play outside with other dogs in there big outdoor yards. Their facilities are always so clean too! The staff is very accommodating and friendly and you can tell they really have a love for your dogs when they stay there. I've struggled with whether to leave this review. We'd had two fairly good experiences boarding our Dog at Austin Pet Ranch, and then a third about a year ago that became one of our worst nightmares. Cons: 1) Our dog went missing for about 24 hours on this third stay. We purchased the creek walks for her and apparently she got spooked by a nearby horse, the person walking her lost hold of her leash, and she ran away. To their credit, numerous employees looked for her for hours and hours, tearing their legs up in the brush in the process, and alerted neighbors and various other resource. They also comped her stay (obviously). They offered to cover her vet visit afterwards, but that check never made it to us. In addition to the obvious, however, two things upset me about this situation. First, they didn't call us until she'd been missing for about 7 hours. I understand that they probably didn't want to scare us and ruin our vacation, but we could have gotten family members or other people that our dog knew in the area, people that she would have come to. 7 hours is a long time and she could have covered quite a distance. Second, when they caught her the next morning, my family members were just showing up to help find her. According to my family members, the owner was yelling at our dog as he was walking her back to the facility. When he saw my family members there, he changed his tone completely. I don't know what to think about this, but it's incredibly upsetting to me to think that after her ordeal, my typically anxious dog was being yelled at. 2) When we dropped our dog off the third time they put her out in the yard unsupervised and she watched as we drove off. She was reaching through a gap in the fence to try to get to our car, and then was pacing and frantic as we left. This raised red flags for us and after she later went missing, I wonder if we made the wrong decision in driving off then. 3) This is minor, but on all her visits when we'd call to check up on her, they would often confuse her with other dogs and we'd not get her actual status. It just left us feeling a little uneasy. Pros: The young folks who work there are lovely and kind. The price is cheap compared to other places. Despite the pros, the cons were just too great to ever recommend this place to someone else. read more

Terrible. Never again. My wife wrote a review below and I had to double up because it is that bad. My dog already has anxiety issues. Probably inbred but none the less he is nervous always. So for him to have so much poop crusted on his butt means he was scared. Interesting that doesn't happen where we normally board him. He comes back happy and playful. My question is how long did this go on? How long did he sit in filth? Maybe understand these are not just dogs, but part of people's families. We were extremely happy with the care and attention our 8 month old golden doodle got during her week long stay. We got a couple photo updates of her playing with her new friends. And when in the end they couldn't find her bedding we had brought for her they brought it by the house that evening so we didn't have to make a special trip out to them when they found it. Our usual dog camp was filled so being impromptu Trip we thought we choose Austin pet ranch. BIG MISTAKE! My 3 dogs were there for 8 days and I called a few times and they said everything was fine so I felt good. I picked my dogs up and noticed my Maltese was a little dirty but didn't pay too close attention as I had my two little girls with me. I get him in the car and he is literally filthy like a homeless dog. I look at his tail and he has so much poop stuck to his butt I don't think he could go to the bathroom. I leave and call my husband crying not sure what to do as I have my large puppy my older dogs and two kids to come home to after a long Trip. I call them and they say they were so busy it being a holiday weekend he must of been "overlooked". My poor dog who's already has anxiety is shaking. I asked if I could bring him back and they said sorry mam we don't have time. We will give you a free bath the next time you stay. I literally screamed at her and said well sorry there will never be a next time as I will never bring my dogs back to you. I have never written a bad review about a place but I had to for Austin pet ranch. Horrible place!!! read more

We don't have kids so these are our fur babies. Pet Ranch is our go-to boarding facility even though it's about a 20/25 minute drive from where we live. The kids who work there are pretty young but have so much love for the animals it's awesome. We're not regular boarders but they seem to always remember both my pups names. They have an instagram account to which they post photos so you can check it out as a reference to see all the happy dogs. They separate the dogs into sizes so my little guys are having to play with this big dogs. read more

As soon as I picked my dog up he vomited. We hadn't even left the parking lot yet. He's a generally healthy dude so I don't know what it could have been but he was fine before. Sasha (the pup) and I both really enjoyed our experience with Austin Pet Ranch. All of the guys working there are incredibly friendly and welcoming, letting me know that I could call at anytime to check in on her. And when I did, they had a cute story about how Sasha had a new boyfriend and was moved from the "jumper yard" with a high fence to the normal yard, both of which helped solidify the amount of care they put into their work. If you visit the website or the ranch itself, you will be happy to see that the dogs are taken out on frequent day trips around the area, have a large yard to play around in, and stay in a HUGE (5' 6") kennel. All of this for $27 a night. Not to mention, if you follow them on Instagram you may just see a pic of your pup, happy as can be, which will inevitably quiet any unease you had about leaving them. Our first boarding experience was great! I have a large Shepard and boarding our furball for a week during our extended family vacation was increasing my anxiety to say the least. I called a month prior to reserve and it was very easy. On drop off day my girl was hesitant but with some treaty persuasion she was back in the kennel area with her "tour guide." They asked details about feeding and activity she may need. They asked if she liked to swim in creeks and walk..Absolutely, my girl's a water dog and I felt comfortable. I definitely brought her food, bed and toys along with a shirt of mine for comfort. We called mid week to see how things were going and they said she was doing great but wasn't too fond of the noisy kennel. I figured as much with my spoiled mutt. ;) I was even able to see pics of my girl taking a walk through their Instagram account! Very cool but I wish I could have seen more photos being that there are only a couple kennel spaces with live cams and they were taken. All in all a really positive experience with a staff that shows genuine love and care for our mutts. Pretty affordable too. I would absolutely recommend "The Ranch" to friends and their furry family members. :) read more

Nice folks, seem to really care about your dog. Family run and the kids are there to play with them, walk them, etc. Clean and stress free. The entrance needs some work, they need to upgrade the spray painted sign- but past that it's great. YMMV- especially if you have a ill-mannered dog, I'm sure i wouldn't play with it either. But frankly My dog is cute and friendly, so she gets lots of attention. Since I have a psychic connection to my dog, she told me they were very cool and let her stay up late and watch TV. read more

This place is awesome! I have two dogs with special needs, I guess you could say. One of them is claustrophobic, but she is completely comfortable in their larger rooms. The other one is an alpha female and doesn't usually get along with other dogs or even with men. But, she actually likes to go to Austin Pet Ranch and has even been able to play with other dogs there! And since they have so many play yards, they can always keep her in a yard with just her sister if they don't feel completely confident with putting her with another dog. We have always been pleased with Austin Pet Ranch, but this Thanksgiving, they went above and beyond with their customer service. We needed to ask my parents to pick the dogs up for us because of the timing of when we were returning to town right before the Thanksgiving holiday, and the staff was so accommodating for my parents! They brought the dogs out to my parents' car for them because they are elderly and we didn't want the dogs pulling on them, and we wanted to keep them safe from COVID. I was so impressed that they would do this. They are always so nice and laid back about everything. I highly recommend them. read more

We boarded our pup here for a week while on vacation. We had never left him for that long and were really worried about where to send him. Our vet recommended this place, and we could not have had a better experience. When we dropped him off, he was so excited to go play with all the dogs he could hear in the back he didn't even look back at us (this is a former shelter dog with terrible separation anxiety)! I called twice during our vacation because I'm a worrier and I missed my puppy. Both times the person that answered knew exactly which was my dog and what he had been doing that day. They really pay attention to your dog and give them lots of attention. It is worth the drive out here to board your dog. I can't recommend them enough. read more
