When I arrived to drop off my 2 dogs, I was thrilled to have found a new boarding facility. There was 2 younger employees that were so professional and polite. They let me see where they would be and it made me comfortable leaving them for a 3 day weekend. When I came to pick them up, my experience was not so great. I was charged for 4 nights when we were only there for 3. When I questioned the over payment, the older gentlemen who I guess is the owner, said he was too busy to figure it out, proceeded to tell me his computer did not lie. He finally gave me cash back for the extra night. I really wanted to know the payment structure as I planned on bringing them back later in the year for a week or even longer while on vacation. I didn't want the amount to be a surprise again. Maybe a computer error? He proceeded to wad up my receipt and print out. I told him was being kind of rude and that maybe I wouldn't come back. He said, "well then don't"! I walked out the door and he came out yelling at me and even chased me around the car and even to my car door!!!!! I was not willing to argue with him and was a little frightened by his outrage. He yelled even louder, "Don't f'n come back here again"! I should have called the cops. What a nasty man! I hope my pups were treated nicer than that! read more

This place is the BEST!! We started using Austin Pet Ranch shortly after they opened 10 years ago with our two senior dogs. They have never been anything but kind to our dogs. Along with also mourning the lost we felt of losing both dogs suddenly 3 years ago, 10 days apart. Now our two rescued dogs are always in their compassionate care when we are out of town. Did I say out of town??? I figured that we have used them regularly 13+ times a year, With 145+ times since they opened. This place is totally coo! Our sweet pup Peaches is quite a handful, lots and lots of energy, so we have a hard time trying to find a friend to watch her when we go out of town. Austin Pet Ranch was recommended to me by a friend that takes her dog there too. We used them when we went to Hawaii earlier this summer. The boarding rates are great and the dogs get lots of attention. When I picked her up she was running around the office playing with some of the owners dogs. Peaches seemed very happy when we picked her up! We will definitely use their services again and you should try them for your pups too! read more

We had never boarded our dog before, and were unsure about the whole process. We wanted to make sure he could eat his own food without a charge (sensitive stomach) and sleep on his own bed (familiarity for him) and also get good levels of activity with other dogs. We also didn't want to spend a million dollars. This place fit the bill and then some. Our dog was happy to see the people there, who were just as happy to meet him, let him sniff around, and show him to his room. When we picked him up, he was happy and well-exercised. I've taken my 2 Chihuahuas to APR 3 times now, each for a week or more. Those Chihuahuas are always so happy to go. One time, they were the only small dogs in boarding, so they got 100% of the couch potato time. They were so spoiled when we picked them up. Boarding can be scary for any puppy. APR does as well as anyone, and their facilities are the best I've seen. We will continue to use APR. read more

We love APR! My sweet guy seriously starts going crazy in the car when he figures out where we are going. I knew I would never board him anywhere else after our first time. They are super flexible with drop off and pick up times which makes my life so much easier. They are priced better than anywhere else and my pup comes home happy and exhausted after each trip. My favorite part is that they also allow me bring in his own bed, a toy and food so that my pup feels right at home. APR will treat your furry friend just like you would. I love Austin Pet Ranch. Yes, it's a little out of the way and a little hard to find, but totally worth it!! Every time I drive up the owner (David) comes out to greet me and always remembers my dog's name, which is tricky since his name is Boaz! The place is HUGE with plenty of room for the dogs to run and play. The field is full of trees so it's shaded in the hot summer and fenced off in different sections so my little dog doesn't get trampled by the big ones! And what prompted me to write this review is, I last minute needed a place for Boaz to stay over Christmas (and by last minute I mean December 23!) and Austin Pet Ranch offered to take him!! They didn't have room, but I had his crate with me and they offered to keep him behind the desk! I can't say enough positive things about this place. read more

We have been very pleased with APR since we began taking our dogs there almost 2 years ago. Dave, the owner, is great and really cares for the dogs! They are very accomodating to our dogs and their schedule, which was pretty high maintenance when they were puppies....like eating 5x per day! Our dogs jump from the truck to get to the front door of APR as quickly as they can and they are exhausted when we pick them up....which we view as a good thing. We've never done the doggie daycare, but for boarding and grooming, we have nothing but great experiences here. read more

What Julie L. said? Coulda been my dog. But no, David and his staff are good with many high-energy dogs that don't easily trust others. When we pulled up for his last weekend stay, the owner recognized Pete-the-dog and immediately greeted us both by name, even though it was months since he was last there. Pete recognized the place and sure, his excitement was a bit apprehensive, but overall happy even though I've left him there for time spans ranging from a few hours to ten days. Pete-the-dog is happy to play outside in their fenced yards, sleep on his bed in a clean and spacious kennel, take walks along the creek. Whether its for a day or almost two weeks, I'm happy and comfortable leaving my dog in their care. read more

On a recent trip we boarded at Austin Pet Ranch. When we dropped him off we pulled out all his recent paperwork. Vet records ect. and we're told that they "didn't sweat the small stuff". I take the health of my dog very seriously and if they are not checking vet records it raises a serous health concern. Also when we got home we noticed that he now has fleas. Thanks for the fleas Austin Pet Ranch. Avoid this place if you care about the health of your pet. read more

I scheduled my dog to attend dog daycare there. I wanted her to have play time with other dogs. The man working at the counter was nice. However, all they let the dogs do during daycare is play with one other dog outside and unsupervised. They also rotate the dogs in/out, so your dog only gets a few hours of play time with one maybe two dogs. After spending the day there, our dog came home tired and seemingly happy. The next day she threw up all day long...we assume she got into something while they left her outside unattended to during the day. I would not ever take my dog back there. read more

Terrible place! I picked up my dog there and he had mats on both ears and an ear infection. I couldn't believe they didn't brush the dog while he was there while I was out of town. And he also had lost 5lbs when I picked him up. Don't recommend this place at all! read more

We started taking our dogs here shortly after they opened. We were a little nervous at first, having no experience with them. I toured the facility before we took our dogs their and it looked great. The rooms are very large and the dogs are often out playing with other dogs. We always board our dogs here and have turned many friends on to them as well. It is the only boarding facility my dogs don't want to leave!! read more

Great experience! I left both of my energetic pit mixes here for a 6-day trip last month and they came back home incredibly happy and healthy. The staff seemed to know them personally and offered me a tour of the facility as I was apprehensive when I dropped them off. They took great care of our pets. We took Raisin our Dalmatian, Misty our chocolate Lab and our Maine coon cat Henry at the time. I love the owners and their helpers. They have always been extremely accommodating, friendly, and keep my pets safe and happy. My Dalmatian was considered a senior dog, we were gone on vacation Raisin got sick and they took great care of her and got her what she needed and phoned us immediately. The best thing about APR is their willingness to meet the needs of their clients. They have been very flexible with us with regards to pick-up and drop off times without any extra hidden fees. I have visited a number of dog boarding facilities in the Southwest Austin area, and I find they have the best overall facility. Dogs get plenty of exercise, socialization, as well as rest. I gave two stars because my dog made it out alive. While they were a pleasant faculty...they told me when I called to check up that she wasn't allowed to play with the other dogs...which I was confused by since she's always been social at other boarding places(mind you she had been boarded at the same place multiple times at our previous home). My biggest concern was when she came home she had a sore from her choker collar around her neck(mind you, while it may be frowned upon she is a strong, wild dog, and will pull you across a room, and it is only for walks/too and from places ona leash) looking as if she was pulled a little too hard. I mean I walk her often....never had had a sore and maybe I'm just wrong but common sense says take choke collar off when not walking. We payed for a bath...can't say she had one I would assume no based off times she's gotten groomed before. And she had a bizarre rash on her belly which has now cleared up. She also acted like a beaten dog upon being home. A behavior she has never had after being boarded. Again not her normal behavior from being boarded. Luckily after about twelve hours of being home she began to act like herself again. I can say the staff was nice...they were fine but will not bring our dog back. Only hope this can help other pet owners. read more

I have to say I hardly ever write reviews....I just don't take the time. This place inspired me to step out and say what I thought especially after reading one of the other reviews. I have 2 small dogs that can be quite a handful. This is our 5th or 6th time to stay at the ranch and our dogs couldn't be happier...everytime!!! The staff knows their stuff and have always bent over backwards to accommodate me and my pups. I love the fact that they get to go out into play yards instead of on concrete slabs, a true ranch experience with towering Oak trees in the yards, horses to the right, a cow to the left, something for them to look at instead of concrete. You should check the place out for yourself, I picked my dogs up today and they were giving an in depth tour of the place the couple booked on the spot. I know no place is perfect, but if your dogs are happy and well taken care of and want to get out of the car to go in, isn't that whats important.
