Karin has been so helpful in training our sweet pup! Austin Dog Zone is great at teaching both you and your dog on how to better communicate with each other! Karin is great and gives us weekly homework to work on before our next lesson. It is also super safe and convenient that ADZ travels to YOU, and masks are worn as a COVID precaution. I spent WEEKS researching different Yelp reviews for different dog trainers in the area, and I couldn't be happier with my decision! Train your pup here, you won't regret it!

My reactive dog, Bob, recently went to day training and two private sessions with Leighann. From day 1, Leighann went above and beyond helping me better understand Bob's behavior and sharing tactical steps we can take at home to reinforce what he was learning with her during the day. The private sessions were always really efficient and informative with her sending post-session email notes which helped me know what to do between sessions. Bob is already showing improvements in his reactive behavior and we understand him so much better now. I'd highly recommend Austin Dog Zone.

@pennypastapup enjoying her first shake shack experience!

Our trainer Brianna was awesome during the 3 weeks she took care of Penny! We always received photo and video updates and can tell Penny has made great progress. She's still the happy energetic pup with more impulse control than before. We took her out and about today and she did a great job and kept her paws on the ground during greetings at Tomlinsons and didn't pull towards folks when my wife and I took her to a nearby coffee shop. Thanks again, and we're looking forward to our follow up sessions! Also we are already thinking we might do another round in September :).

After Buddy mastered the hardware store distractions, Amanda then took him to Bass Pro Shops.

After many hours researching dog trainers/companies around Austin, I decided to reach out to Laura at Austin Dog Zone for assistance in preparing my 4.5 month old rescue puppy to fly home for winter break. On the phone she asked me numerous questions trying to get a better idea of what behaviors I wanted the trainer to focus on correcting and the timeframe it would take to do so. She also reassured me that their trainers only use positive reinforcement to train, unlike many other companies I looked into. After our conversation, I felt confident that this was the place for Buddy so I scheduled him for 14 days of overnight training plus two follow up sessions with one of their trainers, Amanda. When I dropped Buddy off at Amanda's house she showed me where he would stay which mimicked his sleeping conditions at my house to help make his transition as smooth as possible. Throughout the 14 days she sent me updates via text as well as videos of him in training at her house, restaurants, stores, etc. It was abundantly clear how much progress she was making with Buddy and how much he was enjoying his time with her and her dog, Sully. Two days after he completed his training, we headed to the airport for our flight back to Indiana. The airport was buzzing with holiday travelers. I was sure all the commotion and attention from people would cause Buddy to forget everything he learned and go back to his old ways, but he proved me wrong. He stayed so calm in the airport as well as on the airplane, even with 4 other dogs aboard. I scheduled our follow up session with Amanda about a month later where she observed Buddy's current behaviors and illustrated how to correct them as I continue to work on his training. After his initial 14 day training, I chose to board Buddy with Amanda on multiple occasions as I knew he was comfortable at her house and she would keep up with his training commands. I highly recommend the Austin Dog Zone and Amanda to anyone looking for a puppy/dog trainer in the greater Austin area!

Transformative Online Training, Truly Beyond Words!…read more We are so grateful for Allegra and her incredible online training program. We took in two stray dogs who were wild, anxious, and completely untrusting. We weren't sure where to begin and it was chaotic for us, until we found her. Through her online courses and virtual sessions, she helped guide us step by step with patience, wisdom, and a technique that honestly goes beyond words. Even though we never met in person, her presence and deep understanding of animal behavior came through in every interaction. With her support, our dogs have started to trust us, calm down, and settle into their new life. The change has been remarkable. It feels like a miracle to see them open up and begin to feel safe and loved. If you're dealing with fearful or reactive dogs, do not hesitate to work with Allegra. Her approach is compassionate, intuitive, and truly life-changing. Thank you, Allegra, so much!!

It's much more wide ranging than training that's only focused on commands like sit/stay/down/etc (though you can work on all of those with the Naked Dog's programs too). Before we signed up for the group training series, I was at my wit's end with our recently adopted dog. He had a lot of behavioral issues, ranging from chewing things in the house, overall excitability, constant attempts to eat pecans and, worse, trash on walks (and often succeeding despite our best efforts & requiring steady doses of probiotics and even a vet visit to induce vomiting), and lunging on leash at dogs and passing vehicles. We also noticed that when we took him to the dog park, he'd play really rambunctiously and generally go 0-60, including running and body checking other dogs (not the best strategy for harmonious playing). The great part about this series is that it's three in-person sessions (we added a fourth for some additional coaching) and the rest is a series of online lessons. This made it easy for us to work through at our own pace. In the online portion, the end of every lesson included video homework that we'd send in and get feedback from one of the Naked Dog trainers -- this was great because it captured us applying these skills in a total real world setting, without the presence of a trainer to coach us or influence our dog to be on his best behavior. Fast forward a couple months, and now we feel confident that we can handle any situation with our dog, including taking him to busy and distracting environments and responding to misbehavior. He's mellowed out so much -- he isn't perfect, but it feels like we've reached an understanding. He went from my problem child to my sidekick. He can walk in a heel, he comes when called, and will wait at the door before we say he can come in. It feels like he's looking to us as leaders and that he's truly settled in as part of our family. We followed the Naked Dog's recommendations for introducing dogs for the first time when we took him over to a friend's house to meet their dogs, and they remarked on what a good dog he is, and that he's better behaved than other dogs they've petsitted, so now we have a worry-free petsitting option. I also now take him by our neighborhood park on walks and let him meet other dogs, which used to be a wild activity full of leash pulling and jumping. The Naked Dog taught us what to look for in reading dogs' behavior so that we can spot polite vs rude behavior and manage their interactions before they start getting too wild, which is a truly priceless part of this training seminar.

I still regret it a few years later. She was being buzzed for behaviors she didn't understand. It was punishment rather than training. The trainers drank the kool-aid and are inexperienced, The group classes were an absolute mess. Owners were confused and just zapped away without proper training and guidance, I pulled my dog out immediately. If you truly love your dog, and want to learn proper communication, consider positive reinforcement. The only situation I 'maybe' consider this is a pup with aggressive behavior. Otherwise, I would NEVER recommend this type of training. NEVER.

The owner does need to be diligent with taking their dog to the trainings (we kind of fell off at the end but it was okay) but as long as you stick with it, your dog will learn new skills and will be better behaved than before. We can literally walk our dog without a leash now, I never thought that would be possible. She will sit in her place when people come over and we are always getting compliments on how good she is. We can do things in the front yard and have her stay in the garage and she won't run after other dogs that walk by or other other people or children. She has learned to stay in her place for as long as we need her to be. It's funny because she was a really wild dog before and now that she's trained everybody loves her. overall the training here was worth it and we are really happy that we did it!

Fortunatley he healed well after two weeks of dedicated TLC but the trauma of the experience remained with both him and me well after Ryder physically healed. I reached out to Matt for virtual dog training appointments to help us through that, and his guidance and great wisdom around dog psychology and behavior and deep empathy for Ryder and in general made such a huge impact. I learned from Matt how to help Ryder through his fear and trauma and how to recognize when he was experiencing trauma (for example, he developed a new and strong fear of rumbling engines). By applying Matt's empathetic practices, Ryder has become much less fearful, is no longer afraid of rumbling engines or playing with other dogs and he's back to his old happy, playful, super enthusiastic and friendly self!! :) Matt also greatly helped my dog Ellie through the excessive anxiety that resulted from my marital separation and helped us learn what an impact the breaking of that social bond had on her and how to address it! She was so supportive and even stayed late with us to work through some problems together pretty much every lesson.
