How do y'all only accumulatively give China Wok 2 stars? This place is great and has redeemed itself. I don't know what's changed but I used to love this place. Then after a couple years I noticed the food quality was not great and everything had the same blah flavor. So I switched to Wong Kok. Tonight I decided to go back. The general Tso chicken was hot, flavorful, spicy, and incredible. $2 up-charge for plain lo mein over rice, incredibly worth it. Amazing flavor. Wonton soup was hot and just the best I've had outside of Long Island. The egg rolls have great flavor, nice crisp crunchy shell, and everything tasted super fresh, quick and friendly service. $25 for all that I thought was good value considering what everyone's been up against in this economy. Im privileged to be able to eat out every once in a while and am extremely satisfied that I called China Wok. Keep up the great work and I apologize for ever straying!

Hunan chicken and rice is good. Egg roll a bit suspect

Not sure why all the really low reviews which made me not try the place but I'm glad I did. Got a lunch hunan chicken with fried rice and chicken egg roll for $8.47. I was pleased to find vegetables and a fried rice lake spring onion and onion and also the vegetables in the Hunan chicken were cooked well. I didn't eat the eggroll because the pink chicken or whatever it is in there look suspect and also the the dough was not fried all the way. Overall I'll be visiting again.

Like other Yelpers, I wonder why a lot of people gave this place such low stars. It satisfies the craving for Chinese food when you don't want to go out of your 'hood. The food is pretty tasty and the lady behind the counter is super sweet. Would definitely recommend!

I've passed by this place a bunch of times but finally decided to check it out :D The cashier was sweet and since we decided to dine in, she even brought our food over to the table for us. That was kind of her. There really is no server here, this is more of a take out restaurant. However, there are a few tables. Complimentary hot tea is available, which is also very nice! We were very satisfied with our meal and the quality of it. We wanted a quick bites Chinese take out joint, and that's exactly what this was. Portions were generous, everything tasted delicious, and the price was right. The conversation was even better! We left very happy.

Sadly, I found out even before ordering that its original owner Louis Cheng recently retired and sold the restaurant to new ownership. The food was so-so but it was definitely not as good as I remember - the boiled fish in was definitely different versus what it was previously. Instead of spicy and fragrant peppercorns in oil, it was a simple sauce and cornstarch, very little heat and pretty generic. The other dishes didn't have the fiery wok taste that they used to and it felt more like an average Chinese food restaurant versus one that's more authentically Szechuan. Not bad food by any means, but less spice and more generic. Maybe it's a decision by new management to make it more mass appealing, but I was sad that it was sold and doesn't feel like the same place.

The portions are incredibly generous, and every dish we tried was delicious. The drunken noodles were packed with flavor, the fried rice was perfectly cooked, the Tso's chicken was excellent, and the steamed fish was fresh and beautifully prepared. The highlight of the meal was the spectacular tableside Flambé dessert--it was both delicious and a fun experience. The service was exceptional. Our waitress was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The owners were also warm and welcoming, adding to the wonderful dining experience. And don't skip the beer--it was fantastic! Great food, generous portions, outstanding hospitality, and excellent value. We'll definitely be back.

My favorite is the red roast pork. We order a couple platters and they are always demolished. The chow fun was ok, thought the noodles were a bit too mushy. The rest of the dishes were good. Everyone enjoyed all the food. We needed many takeout containers. Service was very good. They have pitchers of water that were always refilled. We have lots of water drinkers in our group. Overall, everything was great and I think this is a really reliable spot for good dim sum!

My takeout was ready in timely fashion, and there was definitely some quality there. My kung pao tofu was a little sweet as the dish normally is, but also amply spicy as I requested and came with plenty of peanuts, extra-crispy tofu, and a few other vegetables. Lo mein was a fairly straightforward soy-garlic affair, though I must say I appreciated the option to add some tofu to that as well. My spring rolls came sauceless and were fairly basic and cabbage-y, but a decent way to round out a meal. I appreciated their thorough vegetarian labeling; of course some things were not available to me that I wish they would make vegetarian, but the most important thing is being able to make informed decisions. I skipped the ma po tofu this time, but they claim it offers genuine numbing sensations and they did enough to convince me that it might be worth coming back to try.

First order: chicken lo mein, general tso's, and the hot chili pork wontons. The lo mein was delicious... chicken super tender, perfectly done. But the wontons were the real standout for me. I hadn't tried that style before and wow, so flavorful and tender! The general tso's was the one miss for me, not bad but not my favorite rendition of the dish, and the white rice was just okay. Did any of that stop me from ordering again days later? Absolutely not! Second order: we swapped in the mongolian chicken and the hot chili pork dumplings and this was the upgrade we needed. The mongolian chicken was SO good... again incredibly tender, tons of onions, deeply flavorful. And the dumplings? Perfection. The filling is more evenly dispersed throughout than the wontons, making every bite perfectly balanced with the pork and chili oil. Even the rice was better this time around, not sure what changed but I'm not asking questions! We've been dreaming about this meal ever since and genuinely cannot wait to order again. If you're in Vienna and sleeping on Chili Wok, please wake up immediately!

Satisfies the Chinese food cravings for sure. Warm & welcoming atmosphere...not so much. I don't want to fault one of my go-to Chinese food joints because the economy sucks. Everyone & everything has been affected during these chaotic & unreliable times. Small biz restaurants gotta save where they can just like everyone else to stay alive. I look forward to the day when this restaurant can go back to good-sized portions with a satisfying amount of meat & vegetables rather than having to really scale down. Been coming here for years and it's still in the rotation despite the downgrade in value currently. Being able to count the number of meat pieces on one hand and the number of veggies on the other is disheartening. A container filled with steamed rice & sauce instead of meat & veggies is disappointing and expensive. I've never found Wong Kok to fall into the category of "greasy Chinese food." That's a definite plus. While the lunch specials are generally still an ok deal during this horrible economy, be prepared to spend and not receive quite the return you once were used to getting from your fav Chinese food joint. Even the fortune cookies have shrunk about 20% in size! Worth the drive? Yes, because the food has always been hot & fresh and tastes pretty good. The meat quality remains decent- not fatty, gristly, or just scraps. And, yes, because I want to keep my local Chinese food go-to in biz.
