AVOID!!!!! I'll never order from here again. There was a freaking bug in my plate!!! I'm so disgusted and sick to my stomach!

    Chicken broccoli Shrimp Lo Mein

I was eating my chicken broccoli when I felt something weird & turns out to be like a hard plastic from a bottle don't recommend FEB,18,2023

Glutinous mass. As pictured, this hard lump is about 2/3 of the original size. I could not get it to break apart.

Avoid or you too may ask, "What is this glutinous mass in my food?" See photos... OK...it was lunchtime, there were other orders... I can understand the 30-minute wait. I don't *like* it, but I can understand it. What I DON'T understand is how China Star could serve such a glob of goo. I ordered Chicken Chow Mein -- the most basic, innocent dish on the menu. A complete non-adventure, right? Wrong. China Star achieved something I've never seen anywhere... I'm 63. Eaten thousands of meals. Eaten meals in 69 counties. But I've never been assaulted by a meal, until I tried China Star in Manassas. Opening the box, I grabbed my chopsticks and started into it ... And was initially subdued by the lack of taste. The celery was fine, but everything else was 'meh.' As if it had first passed through a flavor removal process before cooking. Striking in it's tastelessness. But as I went a couple bites deeper I struck something that moved the whole container. It's in the picture below. It's a mass of glued-together, stuck-together paste-and-veggies. What kind of paste? Unknown. And, although it's called Chicken Chow Mein, there was little chicken. It wasn't even Chicken-flavored Chow Mein, see comment on taste above. Overall, pathetic. Please read through some of these other reviews, but don't take too much time. You're better served by just going somewhere else.

Proof is in the pudding. Not only did they charge me multiple delivery fees, they also charged me for a coke that I never ordered!!

Please be very careful ordering delivery from these criminals. They will add multiple items to your bill that you did not order!!!! Please check your receipt or you will be scammed!

China Star get's one more from me after my 'dine in' experience. I stopped in after along bike ride in the neighborhood. They have a great location at the corner of Wellington and Grant for an easy in and out. I ordered the Moo Shu pork which was quite good! It comes with steamed rice, plum sauce and those thin rice shells for wrapping like a chinese taco. Service was fast and friendly. I forgot my bike lock so the owner let me wheel my bike inside. Don't ask...I've had two bad experiences with my bike getting ripped off. I refuse to get a cheap bike. Any way, I had ordered take out here back in Oct which was a less than 3 star experience. For this most recent experience they get a one star upgrade!

Quick service and lunch specials are great and prices are decent for what you get. No complaints!

You get good food at reasonable prices. Some of my favorites include Crispy Shredded Beef in Spicy Sauce, Fried Chicken Nuggets with Basil (a Taiwanese native favorite), and Wrinkled String Beans. Crispy Shrimp with Honey Walnuts is also really good. They offer a wide variety from stir-fries and noodle dishes to seafood, pork, beef, and vegetarian/vegan-friendly options. The kitchen is very accommodating. If you want milder spice, less oil, or custom tweaks, they seem pretty open to it. Because it's not one of those fancy places, the vibe stays relaxed and unpretentious, which I personally like. It's nice for families, friends, or a simple meal out without fuss. I also like to order take-out. :)

Friends recommended Lin's and I'm pleased to say this may be our go to! We ordered online and picked it up on a Sunday evening and there were several folks dining in at the time which is great to see. The inside was very clean with all the sauces and utensils/chopsticks available to grab when you pick up the order. They had a hot sauce which we liked. We ordered general Tsos, hunan chicken, Taiwan rice noodles and vegetable rolls. Both the general tsos and hunan came with small containers of white rice. The veggie rolls were just spring rolls with cabbage but the shell was crispy and the cabbage still held up.. no mushy insides. The general tsos chicken was all white meat and good texture, but a bit lacking in spice. When we order again we will ask for more spice. Similarly the hunan chicken had a pepper next to it on the menu but had very little spice, but was redeemed by the number of fresh veggies. The squash in it was amazing! The noodles were not greasy, had good flavor and came with a good amount of chicken, beef and shrimp. The lack of grease and oil was very refreshing and will definitely have us ordering again! Someone dining in had a mountain of fried rice that looked and smelled amazing so will be trying that next.
