No real ambiance but it's clean. No overwhelming customer service but they are fast. No flaming platters, just really good and tasty Chinese food that takes you back to every single carryout you always came back to again ... And again.

General tso, combination lo mein, crab ragoon, and egg roll, combination fried rice ( FED 4 PEOPLE)

Amazing flavor! Amazing Chinese- I am new to the area and was looking for a Chinese take out place! High recommend general Tao's chicken, lo mein ( combination) egg roll and crab ration !!

Ordered chicken wings and they have party drums, some of the saddest stuff I've seen

I live in the southeastern part of the state so I may be jaded, but I still felt this was an appropriate rating. My friend ordered chicken wings so we were expecting a traditional 4 or 5 regular sized wings but was given party drumsticks, pathetic. Also their regular dishes are grossly overpriced. This place may only thrive because it is in Northern VA because all of our food was pretty sad.

    Brown, not fried, rice

Delivery was great. We heard that Lin's is good and tried them 2 times. Both times, we received brown, not fried, rice. The first time, they said we had asked for brown rice (my receipt showed fried rice). The second time, they claimed that we did have fried rice. We didn't. Last time ordering from there.

I am unclear why people are raving about this place. This a pretty standard American Chinese take out establishment. There's nothing unique or authentic about this place. It's perfectly good American Chinese but's NOT authentic Chinese & it not fantastic. I had the hibachi chicken & it's basically stir fried all chicken thigh meat with a 1/4 amount of veggies ON A HUGE BED of RICE. The chicken & veggies are tossed in a very small amount of teriyaki. I could barely taste it. I had to add 2 packets of soy sauce to the entire entree to give it the dish flavor. The veggies are cabbage, broccoli & carrots. It was fine but I was not that impressed & definitely won't be returning anytime soon. I also found the staff to be a bit surly & unapproachable. They did not make any attempt to be welcoming, friendly, helpful or kind. There are plenty of other very good American & Authentic Chinese take out restaurants that have better food & service.

Beware, the cashew chicken is made with peanuts, not cashews!

Typical Chinese style carryout place. They offer wide rice noodles (Chow Fun) that most take out places in Manassas do not offer. My order included cashew chicken. They charged a buck extra to add a few snow peas. That's OK, they gotta make money wherever they can. However, when I got home, the "cashew" chicken was made with peanuts. If they're going to go cheap on the ingredients, I'll go elsewhere!

a bowl of noodles with meat and vegetables

HORRIBLE and rude, if i could give a 0 star i would. lady was rude and she seemed like she didnt to be there and denied me the bathroom and another guy in the rest said they're always like that. NEVER going back and do not recommend

Yeah! I'm a. fan, seriously. I love the chicken and steak combo bowl and then I get that red/pink sauce they have off to the side no drizzle that all over it and find myself in my own sort of heaven. All orders are cooked as they come in so expect a 10 minute wait at least but At least you know it is completely fresh and piping hot even after you drive it home and sit to chomp down on it. I should probably try something else but I am so in love with their take on teriyaki and the fact they are one of the only places around doing them

The portions are incredibly generous, and every dish we tried was delicious. The drunken noodles were packed with flavor, the fried rice was perfectly cooked, the Tso's chicken was excellent, and the steamed fish was fresh and beautifully prepared. The highlight of the meal was the spectacular tableside Flambé dessert--it was both delicious and a fun experience. The service was exceptional. Our waitress was incredibly sweet, attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The owners were also warm and welcoming, adding to the wonderful dining experience. And don't skip the beer--it was fantastic! Great food, generous portions, outstanding hospitality, and excellent value. We'll definitely be back.

But what we did get was pretty darn good (if a bit pricey)! The style is much more authentic, so if you're looking for something like Hunan Cafe (Greenbriar), or that NOVA institution China King, this is different. Is it better? For the most part, yes. (But I still crave that Americanized sweet, spicy, glazey brown sauce that comes in slight variations in so many dishes). I had the hot and sour soup, Szechuan spicy fried eggplant sticks, Taiwanese rice noodles with fried tofu, and the Chengdu twice cooked pork. Everything was excellent, except....the hot and sour soup. Honestly, Hunan Cafe and China King beat the pants off this place's hot and sour soup. Here, it was a bit too sweet. It had some red chilies in it, but I could not detect much white pepper. And it's a vegetarian version, so no small bits of chicken or pork. I'd skip this the next time I order from here. But the other dishes... amazing! The noodles were light-tasting but still delicious. The eggplant was garnished with cilantro, garlic, salt, and red chili sauce. The twice cooked pork was sauteed with sliced leeks and the same red chili sauce. I think that's the fresh, zingy, spice flavor profile I like that can't be found at Americanized Chinese restaurants. Sure, China King has its place and I'll still go back there when I'm close (RIP China King Fair Lakes and Herndon). And admittedly, I go to that awful Panda chain occasionally because I never learn. The unfortunate thing is, I'll more likely go to these places than Cheng's because of the price. The pork dish was $21 and the noodle dish was $19. My total bill came to $60 before tax and tip. If I need to stuff my face with a Chinese umami bomb fast, I'm probably going to the other places for $15-30. I do want to try the rest of the menu at Cheng's, but it's going to be a drawn-out process for the sake of my wallet. I'd be remiss if I didn't include a comment from my dining partner. She compared the quality and taste of the food at Cheng's to Peter Chang's (either Peter Chang's-Herndon, or Mama Chang Fairfax). A high compliment. But she said the value is better at those places' AYCE options than what we got at Cheng's, and I agree. If you've been to none of these places, you have to try them all at least once.
