We really enjoy Hunan Cafe in Burke. Their crispy beef is a favorite of mine, and we always order the crab rangoons and Singapore rice noodles--everything is consistently delicious. My husband especially loves their Kung Pao Chicken. Jenny at the front is always friendly and kind, which makes the experience even better. The indoor dining area is clean, with comfortable chairs, and I really appreciate that they bring your food out on actual plates instead of styrofoam. After spending $70 on takeout I will not be going back. Hot&Sour Soup was way too thick and lacked the sour component. Orange and Generals Geo's chicken tasted the same bland way. Lacked any flavor of any kind. Chicken Lomein had plenty of chicken but hardly any veggies. Also very bland flavor. Eggplant entree tasted very, very earthy, again with no asian flavor. read more

We order dinner on Christmas at 4:55 and it said it would deliver in 30 mins. the delivery time kept getting pushed and finally at 7:20 we decided to go pick it up. Roast pork fried rice was good but the pork was not traditional red pork chunks more soft and brown. Beef and mixed veggies was ok. Wife had General Tzo's chicken. Was white meat as advertised but chicken was very tough. Vegetable rolls were ok- standard fare. Glad we took out because only 6 tables and lots of take out drivers in and out. This a great place to come for quick lunch since they only have six tables or takeout on nights when you don't feel like cooking. As a Chinese American I'm super excited about this new place in Kohl's shopping center. All the dishes are MSG free with fresh vegetables and huge pieces of meat or shrimp. They even use real lobster in the Seafood combo. I like my dishes spicy so I always tell them to make it spicy for me. They will cater to your liking and have some wonderful vegetarian dishes as well. This is not where you take your date but you can certainly make a romantic date night at home with their piping hot takeouts. We eat here at least once a week! I'm completely obsessed with the fresh steamed vegetables and shrimp! I also always get an egg drop soup. My husband and son love the General Tso's chicken. This is the first time we ordered from here and probably the last. What I don't like is the service fee in order to order online. The woman explained to me that's the website they use. It's only a few bucks but I shouldn't have to pay extra to order. That said the food was just ok. I found parts of it be very blah and other dishes incredibly salty. The soups was really thick in texture and there's not supposed to be veggies in egg drop soup. They must cook with A LOT of oil because every dish was very oily and all tasted the same. I've given this restaurant a couple of chances. I hate to rate small businesses low, but this is a 2.5-star joint. The food just isn't good even keeping in mind this is Americanized food. I gave them an extra half of a star because the food always arrived hot. The dumplings were tough and the filling had no spices or flavors at all. The Wegman's hot bar has better dumplings.) I should have just returned our second order. The hot and sour soup was thick and salty, eggplant was total mush in oil, and the beef and scallops was oily beef with possibly three small quartered scallops. Unfortunately, I need to rate this restaurant very low because they admitted to adding oyster sauce to their supposed "vegetarian" dishes. The brown sauce, for example, that is served with the steamed tofu and vegetables contains oyster sauce. (I was at first told that the sauces were vegetarian, but when pressed the staff finally told me about the oyster sauce.) This is a very dangerous practice because many people with seafood allergies often order vegetarian dishes. At the very least the restaurant needs to add this information to the menu. For what it's worth, I asked them to please add the option of just one vegetarian sauce for vegetarians. If they do this, I will certainly increase my rating. read more

Great local spot. I have ordered delivery from this place twice now, and never really eat Chinese food because the places around here just don't cut it for me. (Though there are plenty of other good asian restaurants) This place's food is fresh, flavorful, and not over-salted like Mama Changs. My favorite dishes were the beef and green beans and the chicken and cashews. I appreciate the fact that the fried rice and lo mein are both not salty so you can adjust to your preference. I was in the mood for a bland meal and purposely ordered spring rolls, egg drop soup and chicken lo mein for delivery online. There's a $2 delivery charge. The online application forces you to create an account, and only allows a percentage amount for tipping. It would have been faster to phone the order, though from the time the order was submitted until delivery it took only 50 minutes -- not bad for Friday night primetime (6:30PM) and distance of 3.3 miles. The spring rolls were skinny and filled only with cabbage. I didn't eat the 2nd of the pair. Steamed dumplings would have been a better choice. The egg drop was satisfyingly dull and salty. The lo mein was good and plentiful -- the container was filled nearly to overflowing and easily feeds two. We used the Ping brand packaged soy sauce that came with the meal to add a little extra to the noodles and realized that the low-salt good soy we keep in the fridge has superior flavor. Other packaged sauces included were mustard, hot sauce and duck sauce. The wax bag of fried wonton was stale, as usual for a Chinese-American restaurant. And we had a choice of 4 fortune cookies, which were fresh and crispy. Somehow, I always get the same fortune, "Man who fart in church sit in pew." I'd rate the experience as a solid B-. read more

Truly awful overpriced Chinese Food. I got the General Tso's Chicken for a whopping $14, it was made with Jalapeno peppers.... at a Chinese restaurant.. I have never in my life seen a Mexican chili pepper used in Chinese cuisine. The flavor of the pepper overwhelmed the flavor of the rest of the dish and was a terrible combination of fajita flavored Chinese food. They also charged an extra $2 for what they called fried rice which turned out to be steamed rice tossed in soy sauce, not a single thing fried about it. The beef and broccoli seemed to be steamed as a whole dish and drenched in a nearly flavorless sauce from a jar, there was no evidence it had been sautéed at all. I can say with 100% confidence that I have had better and more flavorful meals at Panda Express. read more
