Love it! Super authentic Sichuan food. Their cumin lamb, mapo tofu and noodles are fantastic. Cannot recommend enough.

I had to hit this place up as soon as this made the Columbus Monthly's Best New Restaurants of 2022. This was worth the long wait to pick up my carry out. I met a ton of cool people waiting too - mostly international students. The star of the show was the dry fried string beans.They were perfectly scorched and loaded with garlic. The eggplant was drowned in a sauce reminiscent of American BBQ which I wasn't expecting but pleasantly surprised. The mapo tofu was super "schezwany"making your mouth numb and it was exceptionally aromatic. I cannot wait to go back and try more of the menu! Don't come here if you are in a rush. read more

Chilispot has popped up a couple times on Yelp as a suggested place since we live nearby (and probably because we've tried a ton of Chinese spots in Columbus). There were only ever a few reviews and all were 5's. Finally, we decided to try it out for lunch today to see if it was truly worth all the 5's. If I could give them a 6 I would! The food was absolutely delicious- we got Szechuan pepper beef and spicy popcorn chicken. Both had so much flavor, the meat was tender and good quality, the spice was spot on (and we life our food really spicy), and the portions were HUGE! We'll have enough food for dinner and maybe even a lunch. I highly recommend and we will be back! It's our née favorite :) read more

Came from Pittsburgh to meet a friend from Dayton in Columbus and he took us to Chilispot. We eat a lot of Chinese food and are rather selective and critical, but this place has moved to the top of our list as some of the best prepared dishes we have experienced. We like spicy food, and this place got it right on all of the dishes we ordered. Will have to find more reasons to return to Columbus just to eat at this place. read more

Only tried a handful of things on the menu so far, but the Storm fish fillet was A+ and I can't wait to try more here. The restaurant was very accommodating and friendly, the food came out fast, was delicious and the portions were massive, definitely enough for 2 meals. I was looking forward to eating here since the Columbus Dispatch praised it. I should have known, cause every time the paper praises a restaurant and I get sucked in to treat there, I am consistently disappointed. My wife and I got the sirloin beef soup for the noodles....My wife was shocked that the beef was 95% gristle, as was mine. At first, I thought some of the "beef" was tripe. The noodles were okay as we her broth, but my Sichuan spicy beef soup was shocking. I have eaten a lot of Sichuan food which can give a good "burn", but never....I mean NEVER have my lips felt fuzzy, like they were fizzing....seriously. Most delicious, authentic Chinese in Columbus! I highly recommend the storm fish (fried fish with chilies) and the Dan Dan noodles. Be prepared for everything to be spicy and large portions! This is the worst restaurant I've ever been to in Columbus that they even committed CRIMINAL FRAUD!! The worst customer service. First, they don't respect customers by arguing with you and saying that you should wait outside for seat while their servers were the ones who let you in. Second, they don't come get your checks but let you wait for 30 minutes and then you have to go to the front to check out yourself. Third, they automatically charge you tips that you didn't pay! I was forced to pay 18% for their horrible service that they automatically charged my credit card! The restaurant Committed CRIMINAL FRAUD!!!! My signature on the check said I did not want to pay them 18% tips but my credit card was automatically charged! When I called them for their fraud and auto-charge, the manager asked me, "so what do you think is good service? Do we have to serve food into your mouth?" And then I said, "I'm going to audio record you for your disrespectful response." He immediately hung up the phone and refused to pick up the call! Everything was amazing and packaged well for a to go order. The chongping popcorn chicken was spicy to perfection. The chongping fried noodles were a last minute add that I will get as the main course next time. Oh boy am I a wonton lover. Best Szechuan wontons I have ever had. We drove a little over 20 mins to get here because I saw what amazing views they had. I also like to eat at places that aren't a chain and appear family owned. They are easy to miss due to above there store it says mr hot pot but on the window it says chilispot. We arrived at 8 and there was a women mopping who appeared very unwelcoming. We asked multiple times if they were still taking dine in and if they're were sure. Who I assume is the owner said "yes we close at 9". We walked into the dining room and the woman brought us menus. She asked what my husband wanted to drink, he said water, then she left without asking anyone else. She brought us both water but nothing for my son and I didn't want a water but o well. After a short period of time the woman came back and asked what we wanted. I said we'll start off with pot stickers and egg rolls but that we need another second with the menu to look at the entrees . She said; "The kitchen closes at 845, no 830, and it's 813" she left and came back 30 seconds later. We got the Kung pao chicken (from all the recommendations for it) and the spicy beef noodle soup. There was a definitely a language barrier but we figured it out since everything had a number. We don't speak mandarin but my husbands best friend speaks mandarin and taught him all the cuss words. She went back to the back screaming what the fuck in mandarin and continued on in the back with a lot more. The food all came out within 5 minutes and I asked for a couple plates for us since we were sharing everything. That seemed to annoy her. The potstickers had a couple that were burnt and the dipping sauce for the potstickers wasn't the best. The Kung pao chicken came with a big bowl of rice. It was very good but I wish the red chili peppers were cut up more they were impossible chew and cut your throat on the way down. The spicy beef noodle soup had good flavor and was a good amount of spicy. We never got checked on, but we were being "checked on" every 30 seconds to see if we left. She brought the check and I asked for water, boxes, and duck sauce. She only brought the boxes, I guess she only heard what she wanted to. I gave her the card and asked again for the things we wanted. She brought back the two things and went to grab the check that I hadn't signed yet. I just wanted to eat my egg roll while it was hot with some sauce. My husband boxed up our things because we were very obviously not wanted. My husband put on his coat and she went and waited with a dish cart a few booths back. I just had a few small bites in the portion I had in my bowl and didn't even want to finish while I had someone staring at me. I work in the service industry so I always tip well but I only left 15%, and tbh if there was a time to stiff someone this would be it . The owner said bye as we left and we left well before closing time. Overall, I personally will not return because of how we were treated, and I live to far away for my takeout to still be hot when I get home, even though the flavor profile of the food was exquisite. If you were to go here I would recommend take out only. I wish if they didn't want us to dine in they would have told us when we'd asked repeatedly over just treating us horrible. We could have gone to many other places that would have appreciated our money during this time. read more

Two stars only because it's close to home. We wanted takeout and chose from their online menu. The man who took our order either couldn't or chose not to answer questions, as..do you have something comparable to sweet and sour chicken...no. Came for my second visit today already with high expectations from my previous visit. Had Kung Poa today. Fantastic. Once again the can't say enough about the balance of flavors. KP is one of my favorite dishes and have tried it about everywhere that gets good reviews. The KP here is a grade above the rest there is something that gives it that little something extra that the others don't have. With this dish not every bite is the same some bites seem to be different and i find myself anticipating the next. Very nice. read more

We ordered from here yesterday, because of the rave reviews. Oh my goodness! I'm not sure how these high ratings came about. We were duped. I ordered Kung Pa Chicken, which is usually my favorite item at other restaurants. It was Terrible. It was so oily. The Chile peppers and the hard seeds were overwhelming, and awful. The chicken was just ok, but not great. My husband got orange chicken and it was so heavy on the breading. He said it tasted slimy. Sorry, but we would never order food from here again. We really wanted to like this restaurant, because we like authentic Chinese food and most kinds of spicy foods . However, apart from the mild wontons , everything else we tried was overly one note flavor-wise . We ordered some dishes recommended by other diners on Yelp : fried storm fish , eggplant in garlic sauce , and spicy green beans . The storm fish is basically fried frozen fish with chilis on top . Fried fish isn't hard to prepare , but we weren't a big fan of the texture of it and the spice built up unpleasantly . The green beans were just overly salty , and the eggplant was also salty and tasted strongly of vinegar . Even the rice wasn't tasty . My husband is Asian, and we usually enjoy any kind of rice . We couldn't eat much of our order and certainly didn't want to take it home . They don't serve any alcohol, but I feel a beer might go well with spicy , salty food . Finally , the service was verging on rude . Very curt and unfriendly . Fortunately, there are plenty of other great Chinese and Asian restaurants with pleasant service and delicious food in Columbus . read more
