The vibes, decor, overall environment was welcoming. Food was delicious! We got BYO omelette and Cheese risotto cake with braised beef short ribs. Both were cooked to perfection and flavors aplenty. Not overly salted which many places can be. The perfect portion size that we didn't even need to take anything to go. Honestly impressed. Even more cool is they try to source ingredients locally when they can so it's helping our community. Very excited to have found this place and will be back for more! We did try some of their specialty drinks and will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu whenever we get the chance. My colleague thinks she was yelling at us whem she spoke, but I believe that is just how some people talk. My chicken sandwich was good...but the chicken breast seemed like a machine formed patty and it was small. I was expecting something a little fresher, like a whole grilled chicken breast for the price. Instead, this seemed like a pre-made patty from a vendor they just heated up in an oven. The house potatoes were simple and pretty good though. They add cheese and herbs and spices to these to amp them up. My experience this time around was a little bit more of a let down hence why I had to take one star off. When I went few months ago, I had burnt coffee which I chalked it up as a one time error. But it happened again with this visit, so that told me they don't really pay much attention to their coffee yet they have a whole menu dedicated to coffee. I also made a reservation on a Sunday knowing it fills up quick and that it might be hard to get a table, however, it was an hour and half before they close which means they tend to slow down around that time. Also, when making a reservation, it'll ask you if you want bar, dining area or patio. I chose dining area. Yet they called me an half hour before to see if I wanted to sit at the bar, which I told them twice in person I do not want to, and as a result the hostess gave me the annoyed/judgmental look down when I wasn't looking. As someone who has owned a family restaurant business for 30 years, that's a big no-no in terms of customer service. It's just rude and unnecessary. Also, they kind of really try to get customers out by 2, which is when they close. By standard at most restaurants, they need an extra hour after closing for customers to take their time with their meals rather than rushing through it, especially if you will sit them 20 minutes before closing time. I felt rushed, and I don't like that feeling at a place I'm trying to enjoy my meal. Would I come back here? Absolutely yes because their food is really the best for brunch in the area and it's cleaner. It just shouldn't be an excuse with certain things like what I mentioned above. P.S. if chicken and waffles happens to be one of the specials, get it. It's by far the best dish I've ever tried there and also my top 3 chicken & waffles that I've tried anywhere. SO GOOD!

My cousin ordered the same, but with maple aioli--and wow! I'm definitely going to have to try to make maple aioli at home. I appreciated the creativity yet approachability of the dishes. Rusted Root is the perfect type of spot to go when you want a good burger or sandwich that's more inventive than the average casual spot. Since I went in the wintertime, I wasn't able to check out the rooftop. I spotted on the cocktail menu that they make a vodka cran with lavender I've never seen that combo!

The restaurant is comfortable with spacious booths and tables spread nicely through several dining areas. The service has always been solid and the food has been tasty and reasonably priced. Today, I had breakfast with a friend. We were seated promptly and received our coffees (and a carafe) shortly after. The menu isn't as huge as some breakfast places but offers something for everyone. You can also get lunch starting at 10 AM. I've had their breakfast buffet (check for hours), their cinnamon rolls and several breakfast items. They have always been appropriately prepared. Today, I had their eggs Benedict. The hashbrowns accompanying the meal were fantastic. The flavor was good; however, my eggs were harder than requested. Mouth feel and flavors straight out of a professional sushi restaurant. Well done Chefs The Mary is a true Margherita pizza and the dough/sauce/cheese ratio is perfect. Great crust. Wonderfully cooked in their wood fired oven. Top notch food, kind and attentive service from my server/bartender Courtney, ambiance of great music and the hum of happy folks enjoying their meals.
