I'm a regular Texas Roadhouse in Illinois and have never had a problem with a meal that they didn't take care of properly. I travel all around the Midwest and I try to pick my hotel near the local Texas roadhouse because that is my go to is very consistent regularly, and I love their food. The Appleton Texas roadhouse is the first Texas roadhouse that has ever disappointed me. I could see why they're only three stars on Yelp my pick up time was was at 4:30 PM. I had ordered it about an hour or more ahead of pick up because I was making my way up to Appleton. When I picked it up after my 3 1/2 hour drive and got back to my hotel room the salad was nice and cold, but so was my sweet potato, my mushrooms and my salmon. The rolls were not even warm. Like I say I'm on the road quite a bit and I do stop at Texas Roadhouse a lot from Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota. All have been excellent. This particular one was horrible. They gave me a little card to call if there's anything wrong with the order. I did call up talk to the manager. All they did was gave me a $10 voucher because they claim that the food was still edible. In the meantime, the salmon and chicken Caesar salad, the rolls, the sweet potato the mushrooms were all cold. Think twice before ordering takeout from this particular Texas Roadhouse maybe it was a one time issue? But like I say, I've never had a bad experience with Texas Roadhouse and this was the first disappointment.. When I arrived at the takeout counter. The chicken was in a plastic container, along with my salmon, sweet potato and mushrooms, just laying on a shelf, not heated. The salad was also sitting next to it as well. Normally, when I pick up at to go, it's all in a large paper bag to keep it warm, except for the salad because you don't want a hot salad. But like I say, everything was laid out on a shelf and it was very disappointing and yes, I did tip them ahead of time on the app.. I will think twice about tipping ahead of any future order with Texas Roadhouse. when I called the manager and explained to everything they put me on hold while they check the time that the order was made because I had a 405 timestamp on the receipt and my pick up for 4:30 p.m. it sounded like they would remake everything, but I had already started digging into this after a 3 1/2 hour drive. When you drive that far you don't feel like driving back to a restaurant for them to remake an order they should make it right the first time. She asked for my email address. I gave it to her and she sent me a voucher and I thought wow that's great. They're going to give me something that I could actually use again. The voucher was just a barcode and when I asked, what is the value of this barcode and she said $10. That is usually less than the tip that I actually leave at Texas Roadhouse. So that barcode is nothing to make up for what I had to endure. Middle of the road here. The good: meat was excellent, cooked perfectly, lots of onions and mushrooms and cheese. Sides were good, my only complaint would be the baked potato was not super hot. It was warm enough, but didn't melt the cheese. Still, it was a good baked potato. The mediocre: service was meh. Not bad, but not as good as should have been. The server brought us the trademark warm bread, but no plates. Where am I supposed to put my buttered bread and utensils, on the not necessarily clean table? A few other small things. Worst experience ever. I ordered a drink, the waitress came back and stated they were out of that alcohol. I ordered a Filet, she said they were out of Filets. So I changed my ordered to a New York Strip, and instead of telling me they didn't have that size, they brought out everyone else's food except mine. When we asked to speak to the manager, she came over and showed zero concern that I was having a bad experience. In fact she stated "I'm not giving you a bigger steak unless you pay for the larger steak." Then we paid our bill and they charged us for the steak and added shrimp that I never received. I don't frequently eat at or review chain restaurants. I thought I'd throw this one out there based on last evening's dinner. We were seated quickly, as we went shortly after they opened for the day. If you go around prime time call ahead or be prepared to wait as this location is typically pretty busy. The menu never changes. If you've eaten there before, you won't be surprised by new choices. We had our prerequisite two baskets of buns and butter. We ordered our usual Cactus Blossom and enjoyed it while we waited for our main dishes. My pork chops were great; although my mashed potatoes could have been hotter. My dining partner got the kabobs. They were cooked perfectly to order; however, the plate and rice were cold. Our waitress finally came back around (we actually asked another waitress to find her). She took the meal back to the kitchen and they recooked the entire meal. This time everything was hot. Unfortunately, the meat wasn't cooked to order like the first plate had been. We were happy with the way they handled the issue; even if it took some time before my dining partner received their food. We took home a bunch of leftovers; like we usually do. As I can see from other reviews and my own experience this is not a well managed Texas Roadhouse restaurant. Hopefully corporate reviews these reviews because there needs to be a changed in management and waitress. My 1st complaint is my server wanted to spend more of her time off of the floor and in the back room. Thankfully I was close to the front door, but I had to go to the front to get some more rolls because I wanted more and had waited a sufficient amount of time. My 2nd complaint was that the restaurant was out of a number of items. Finally when the check came it wasn't an itemized check and the waitress didn't think anything about not giving me an itemized bill. Of course it was the wrong about by over $20. She did finally get me an itemized bill, but told me that it was good that I asked her for an itemized bill! Geez, I thought that's a normal procedure, to give an itemized bill in the 1st place!!! I'm not from Wisconsin, but this was the worst experience that I've ever had in a Texas Roadhouse, so if I ever come back to Appleton I will not be eating at Texas RH, but I will continue to eat at other TX RH's!!! read more

I have eaten at this chain in other locations but the first time here. Same casual western/Texas vibe that you expect with this chain which definately adds a nice vibe/ambiance to the overall dining experience of eating at this chain and is clearly one of the strengths of this business. Relative to this dining experience It was mid afternoon when we arrived and the restaurant was packed (good sign) where we ended up eating at the bar in lieu of waiting to be seated. I had some reservations about this initially but found the service at the bar to be excellent and the bar staff to very friendly and attentive to our needs with great follow up throughout the meal. Definately something to keep in mind if you are here during busy times and they ask if your are willing to wait for a table. For our meal we ended up getting the ribs and a cheeseburger with fries. The food arrived fairly quickly and was well made with good taste. No complaints here where we were both satisfied with our meals. Overall considering the fun Western vibe, quality of food and friendly/attentive staff this Texas Roadhouse is definately an excellent option in the Appleton area especially if you are looking for a meat centric meal. This would be a 5 star because the food was amazing. I normally don't order steak because of a issue I have. The filet done at medium melted in my mouth. So tender I didn't have to over chew it. The place wasn't overly busy and there was a hiccup but the quality of the food outweighed the inconvenience. Regina was busy and I had to ask someone else or a refill. Still Texas Roadhouse is the go-to when traveling which is every month for a minimum of 3 weeks at a time read more

We have stopped into the restaurant to have a few drinks at the bar and possibly dinner. The bartender service was great. We're a very disappointed that the drink menu that we were given and a special section for $5 beers all day every day BUT she explained that those were pulled and replaced by more expensive seasonal tap beers. I immediately called the receptionist and told her but I was told they can't keep it for me because their lost and found is too full so they would be getting rid of it. Spoke to a manager and she said she would only keep it a week even though I live far outside of Appleton. If you know the owner is aware his hat is in the lost and found I don't think it's necessary to put a time restraint on me because realistically I would have been back soon but I already had commitments for the following week. If you're looking for looking for over-salted food and no offers of water refills, this is the place for you. For food you can actually taste and enjoy, I would recommend a different restaurant. I met a friend for dinner at Texas Roadhouse at 7PM on Wednesday night. The restaurant was packed and incredibly noisy. It was almost impossible to carry on a conversation. My friend and I both had water to drink. I ordered the herb-crusted chicken with seasoned rice and vegetables for my two side dishes. The chicken tasted as though it had been soaked in salt brine. The heavy coating of salt obliterated the taste of the chicken. The rice was equally salty. I forced myself to eat the chicken and vegetables, but the heavily-salted rice was too much. When the dish was brought to be, the chicken was warm, not hot. As my friend and I were finishing, a staff member, who later identified herself as a manager, asked us how our dinner was. I told her they went overboard with the salt. She offered to have the cook remake my dinner. I declined, since I had already eaten far too much salt. I just wanted to leave. Although we had multiple servers (at least four), not one of them offered to refill our water glasses. Considering how salty the food was, good customer service would have been to proactively offer a refill. One server did try to upsell us on getting dessert even after we had declined it. No means no. When I left the restaurant, I regretted choosing Texas Roadhouse for our dinner. read more

I had gone with my sister for dinner and we both ordered the chopped sirloin dinner. I got mine well done and she got hers medium. I'm allergic to onions so asked for mine without. When we got our meals, mine was bright red inside. My sister's was just a touch pink but it had onions so we couldn't switch. I don't mind a little pink but mine was clearly medium rare. I gave it back to our waitress telling her I think the steaks were mixed up and I wanted mine well done. She brought it back with the manager and now there were onions slathered on top. I told them again I'm allergic to onions. They took it away to replace it again. By that time my sister was finished with her meal. So when they returned I just asked for a box. I had to ask about some type of discount. The manager then asked me if I had initially asked for it without onions! I said yes , since duh, I'm allergic! And the first steak they brought out had no onions. The waitress agreed with me. Then the manager said it takes longer to make it well done when I asked for a box. I know that but they screwed up two times! The second one with the onions was fine. But they had to make it again since they piled onions on it. The manager gave me a measly $6.00 off my meal. We were in Appleton and needed lunch, and my husband loves the TR so in we went. We hoped a chain would be perhaps better on Covid compliance than a local place and that wasn't exactly the case. Covid protocols: 2 stars They're making "some effort" with individual packets of nuts and short (12-18") partitions between booths. They ask that people wear masks but they weren't enforcing it, nor were they limiting capacity in any way. I'd feel a lot better if they sat every other table but dolla dolla bill y'all I guess. Food: 3.5 stars My salad was just fine and my husband really liked his food. Those pillowy rolls with cinnamon butter are dangerously delicious but I was good and only had 1/2 of one. Appreciate calorie counts posted for everything. Service: 5 stars Our server was Grace and she was GREAT! Friendly, fun and attentive. If a drink got low, a bee one magically appeared. She may have given the mister some extra rolls to go. Two thumbs up for her - and honestly everyone here was really nice. Normally I'd give this 5 stars since the food was excellent as well as our server. There are multiple reasons why I am giving this 2 stars. There was a long wait even though we had a reservation and were seated 25 minutes after our reservation (we did get there 30min before our scheduled reservation). The place was very busy and not many places to wait or sit. We went to the bar and got some alcoholic drinks but were told we weren't allowed to wait over there so we went to the entrance to wait but again were told we couldn't wait in there. We were basically told to wait in our cars or outside in 38 degree weather until they called us. As we were trying to figure out what to do group of people that were waiting left so we were able find a spot to sit while waiting. While we were waiting, we saw one of the workers (I think her name was Ryland) go up to the host stand and started bad mouthing and complaining about a customer. It was very easy to know what she was saying since she didn't even try to be discreet which isn't appropriate around customers. I understand people can be annoyed by the way things were being handled but going to the host stand and openly complaining isn't okay to do. read more

Tonight we sat down at the very long table by the bar that could sit like 12 people. Only 4 people we're sitting at it. A group of 7 walks in and they are told to cram into a booth meant for 2-4 people. I offered the waitress to switch tables so the poor people sitting in the middle of the aisle didn't have to be bumped and shoved by people when they're eating and the table said yes. The waitress however said no and it would be easier because she didn't feel like cleaning 2 tables when we haven't even gotten bread or food yet. It's good to know the staff don't even care how the customer feels. As long as they get to do the least amount of work and get a tip that's all that matters to them. Also they have a problem with getting everything you order. They always forget your extra side but remember to charge you for it anyway. Tonight they forgot my fries but they got my extra order of applesauce. Thought they didn't hear me and just gave me the 2 sides so I just let it go. I noticed they still charged me on the receipt. Told the waiter to skip the fries and he said he'd make sure not charge me for applesauce. Bill before fix was $62. Bill after $63. Should of been $59 but when they took the applesauce off they charged us for bigger steaks than what we ordered. Will not be back. Which is unfortunate because we love those rolls. read more

This is one our favorite places in Appleton. Nestled between the highway and Applebee's, it's usually very busy. We don't typically wait long for a table if at all. The drink menu is very large with fun drinks featuring "kickers" or more liquor to your cocktail. If the normal amount won't be enough. The beer list is not very impressive, but they have all the domestics. I tried the beef tips and was happy with it. My husband got shrimp and chicken. He shared the grilled items here are overly salted in our opinion. So be sure to drink water before and after! My confession the REAL reason I like this place is because I can order a "loaded" sweet potato with my meal or to go. It's pretty much a healthy dessert, right? It's never a good thing when a waitress becomes irritated that a member of your party went to the bathroom instead of coming right to the table and ordering a drink. I'm not a huge fan of TRH, but my daughter loves the rolls, so we go there more often than I'd like. When we were seated, the waitress asked our drink sections. My daughter and I gave our orders but let waitress know my wife was in bathroom and didn't tell us her drink choice. My wife and I regularly enjoy steakhouses, particularly Texas road houses. Went to this one just about an hour ago, the service and workers were all kind and attentive. However the food had come out wrong and was also prepared wrong. We both asked for medium well (I got the steak kabob and she got the normal plain steak ) and we got got rare/Barely cooked, mine was still even bloody in spots, was super rubbery, and the side I had requested it not to come with in exchange for the chili still came with the original side ignoring my request and exchange. Not really worth noting but we got an onion blossom and it was alright. The food came out fast for how many people were their but maybe that's why our food was undercooked. Don't like to complain so I didint and just paid the bill, likely just won't be going back. read more

I tried for over a month (7 times I contacted him) to get an issue resolved with one of the managers, and two months later it still is not resolved. He did not contact me a single 1 of the 7 times he said he would with an answer/resolution to the problem. He just gave me excuses and the run-around each time I called.
