Service, atmosphere and food were all great. My husband and I seek out the best Mexican restaurants in our area. This one is on top!

Salmon and Shrimp a la Vera Cruz

The food was great, service too. Super huge portions, we couldn't finish it all but it tasted amazing. Very flavorful with great presentation, and liked the Vera Cruz sauce. Although we didn't have one the margarita menu looked interesting too. We were already talking about coming back. It was nice to find a new place at least to us.

I had the takeout lunch pork burrito caliente. $9.50 including tax. Pork part was good, tortilla had a wet, gummy consistency. Chipotle pineapple topping was a bit tasteless. My fat ass ate the whole thing regardless.

This restaurant is located at the previous location of 5* MiCasa. Without a doubt, hands down MiCasa was the best Mexican food in Appleton. The location is the same, and a fresh coat of paint is on the walls, however El Sabor is absolutely, positively, without a doubt one of the worst Mexican restaurants I have ever eaten at. For starters: I ordered a skinny margarita. The skinny margarita here is lime juice, triple sec, tequila. But wait.... there's more! At El Sabor they add club soda to the skinny margarita and I am 95% sure they skipped out on the tequila part altogether. First time I've ever had a margarita made with soda. Chips and salsa were good. I ordered a chimichanga which was not good either. Chicken I am confident is canned chicken. My lady ordered two tacos. Again, the chicken was dripping water which had the salty taste which is noticeable in canned chicken. This is not Mi Casa, this is a new restaurant with new items and new ownership. This same building which used to crank out fantastic Mexican food is now on par with Taco Bell. So sad. RIP Mi Casa, and RIP to anyone's appetite who tries to down a plate of canned chicken at El Sabor.

Side of Guacamole, Jalapeno Queso Dip, Biggest size "perfect margarita"

Pros: super friendly staff, welcoming environment, clean, food is fresh, you can tell they genuinely care about their customers experience. Cons: food could use more spice and flavor, barely any alcohol in margaritas, and a little on the pricey side and seemed under staffed.

    Outdoor seating with new umbrellas.

We always loved Mi Casa when it was here, but under new management this place has exceeded every expectation I had. With the upgraded decor, authentic tasting food, speed of service, and potency of their margaritas this place is a 10/10. Everything hit the mark here.

Loving these margaritas! The chips and salsa are delicious as well!

The atmosphere is that of a party ready to break out at any minute. Meet new people at the bar! But the food! Oh my, the food. Everything was wonderful - from the Scotch Egg to the Creme Brulé. A perfect steak, a generous plate of seafood. And an easy smile from our wonderful waitress Sarah, who seemed to be having almost as much fun as we were. Why am I 60 years old and never had a deep-fried sauerkraut ball with horsey sauce? Don't wait, just go. You won't regret it.

They have a dedicated fryer and they make their own (gluten free) breading. I started with Mark's famous French Onion soup (you must have this!), them went on to the Bavarian platter that includes Veiner Schnitzel (oh damn, that was good), Bavarian sausage, smoked pork chop with apple sauce, and gluten free dumplings. My wife had the Reuben sandwich and onion rings. I wish they had a younger clientele. Younger folks would really enjoy their great selections! I didn't know how busy it gets, but they had plenty of tables open, although we came at about 5pm. The ambience was favorable to the dining. The lighting was intimate but not dark. The bathroom was clean and worth a good review by itself.

Waverly Beach: Wisconsin Lake Life with Miami Tiki-Bar Energy…read more This place caught me completely off guard~in the BEST way. Coming back to the Fox Valley for my high school reunion, I expected to revisit some familiar territory. What I didn't expect was to find a lakefront destination that felt like a little slice of Miami dropped into Neenah. Waverly Beach Bar & Grille is a vibe. The outdoor patio and tiki bar are easily the biggest draw for me. Boats pulling up, drinks flowing, the water stretching out in front of you and that nighttime moon reflecting across the Ocean (MidWestern lake)~it legitimately gives you that "Am I still in Wisconsin?" feeling. The photos don't really do the location justice. Inside, there's plenty of space and a cool atmosphere that would translate extremely well for birthdays, reunions, private parties and other events. Then there's the staff. Michelle, Dakota, Jason & David--THANK YOU! We were there for our reunion and the service was phenomenal. Everyone brought positive energy, which unfortunately isn't something you can take for granted in the hospitality industry these days. Food~wise, I sampled the buffet and enjoyed the tacos. And as someone who loves exploring craft beer, having Spotted Cow on draft all night definitely made me happy. That said, I feel like I only scratched the surface here. The verdict: Waverly Beach isn't just somewhere to grab a drink. It's a destination. I'm coming back because I need to properly explore the food, beer selection and, most importantly that cute bartender they were calling Ms. Jackson (In my OutKast voice~IYKYK), & spend more time on that patio. My next business trip out there is in like 11 days, so I'll definitely stop in for the Brews.Views. & Food! Brews. Views. Food. Wisconsin ocean front property life. That's a combination I can get behind.

Boats pull up to the sandbar, people swim in to grab food and drinks, and the atmosphere is lively and fun. When we visited, there was a live band playing and they had a Brewers game special: two 22-ounce Miller Lites for just $7. I honestly think this place is bigger than anything similar in the Milwaukee area. Whether you're looking for a casual day on the water, a large party venue, or even a wedding location, Waverly Beach has the space and setting to handle it. Definitely worth checking out!

They were extremely friendly and accommodating and had no problem getting all of us taken care of. I kept it pretty simple and got a burger and a beer. The burger was really good and everything came out well, especially considering how many of us there were. What really stood out though was the service. One person in our group is extremely picky about how she likes her steak cooked and ended up sending it back three times. Each time they were friendly about it and genuinely seemed more concerned with getting it right for her than being annoyed about having to remake it again. For us to come in with 25 people on such short notice and still have everyone be so friendly and accommodating was really appreciated. They handled our group incredibly well and never made us feel like an inconvenience. Definitely a 5-star experience and somewhere I would come back to.

It was a Trio Diavolo, a trio of protein with squid pasta, and a red sauce. I didn't understand that the proteins were diced bits that were stirred into the red sauce pasta. I actually thought the protein was separate from a side of pasta. It disappointed me because I generally dislike seafood in red sauce, but honestly, that wasn't their fault so I still gave them a high rating. Service was friendly and playful. Pretty efficient and seemed to like their job. It is a beautiful restaurant with a pretty amazing view, even if the water is at very sad low levels. Maybe this is natural, I've never been here before. All of the wildlife/birds really enhanced the experience. Flocks of seagulls (not the band), and surprisingly large number of pelicans were wonderful to watch. You can see the riverfront exterior and distant bridge in my standard and 360° photos. I'm basing this rating on just my experience...others in my party like their food better than I. Both this and the last time we were there, when you arrive, you check in with the bartender and they give you the menu. Then, once you're ready to order, the server comes out to take your order. A few minutes later, they tell you which table to sit at in the dining room. I really don't like this system. I understand doing this if you're waiting for a table because you're drinking at the bar or a table because they're full. The only time we were offered to order a drink was at the bar...the server never asked. What an easy upsell! I know we could have ordered something, but we all stuck with the water as we had been out touring all day. Has she offered, I would have gotten something. 4/5 of the meals we had came with the salad bar. Which I was really looking forward to. She never directed us up there...we just went. Food was only ok. My tenderloin didn't have a lot of flavor. I couldn't eat all of it because of the fat. The meat used to be better. Other people in our group had haddock, prime rib and a hamburger. They liked theirs. The potato and salad bar were good. When you walk by the kitchen, which is at the end of the salad bar and near the bathroom, it smelled like urine. I don't know if it was one of the older people there or if it was a building issue. I'm done giving them a chance. I live out of state now and I used to look forward to going there. I'm over that, now. I'll drive out of town for a different supper club.
