    The Full CHIKO Breakfast
    Minh-Nhat N.

My group of friends came here for lunch on a weekend and there was no wait. The full Chiko breakfast was very filling and each dish was so nostalgic. The egg and tomato stir fry was fluffy, the spam was glazed in a sweet & savory soy sauce, the scallion pancake was crispy, and the chicken dumplings were juicy! The sichuan fried chicken sandwich was crispy and came with tots and a spicy sauce that was surprisingly so delicious! Some of the dishes like the scallion pancake or egg and tomato stir fry were a bit on the oily side. The service was good and ambiance is casual. Overall, I would come back to try other dishes!

I can't believe one of my favorite restaurants in the DC area is open in Sterling!! I have been to Chiko in Bethesda, Shirlington, and I've even seen the one in Encinitas, but to have it close to my house is so great. I absolutely love all the dishes that they serve up and my husband can never get enough of the lamb noodles. We also love the pork and kimchi pot stickers, the stir fry rice cakes with bulgogi, the green beans, and the salmon with black bean sauce. You also cannot skip the coconut pudding for dessert (literally one of the best desserts I've ever had and it's so light too). The service is excellent, the happy hour deals are great, and the general manager, Wylie, is awesome! Literally one of the best restaurants in nova. Do NOT skip this place!

Chiko, a Chinese (Chi) and Korean (Ko) fusion spot, is tucked in the corner of Cascades Plaza. The space is cute and stylish, and I had high hopes given the plaza's new additions. We started with the double fried chicken wings, which were crispy, tender, and flavorful. Unfortunately, everything else fell short. The garlic shrimp dumplings were drenched in oil and overpowered by peppercorn. We ordered two Chiko breakfast plates. The scallion pancake tasted exactly like a croissant, the Chinese-style eggs were literally scrambled eggs with cherry tomatoes, the soy glazed spam had an odd flavor, and the wontons were again, disappointing. My friend and I barely finished half and had no interest in taking the rest home. This is not what I would expect (and not what anyone should expect) from Chinese or Korean cuisine. The only saving grace was our server Aaron who was genuinely sweet and attentive. Two stars only because of him.

Was really excited to try this place but it fell short of expectations. EVERY DISH we tried was mushroom heavy and virtually meatless. We ordered the bulgogi stir fry and lamb cumin stir fry, these really should be called mushroom stir fry, there was barely any bulgogi or lamb and for the price they're charging, it's a shame. Green beans and spring rolls were the best things they had. Kimchi was pretty good too. Orange chicken was not the best but not bad!

New place. Food looked better than taste. Skimpy on meat. I had the clay pot. Just ok. Expected more. I am hoping it's just opening week issues. I would go to other Korean restaurants first.

We stopped by today for lunch, and the food had lots of flavor, spice and portions are big! We got the cumin lamb stir fry, and the wok steak kimchi fried rice (location specific) . Service was great and we enjoyed our meal here. Give it a try!

Opening day chaos! Folks standing in line waiting for things to open. Tasty looking menu which is designed to share. The name Chiko stands for Chinese Korean. Unlike other places that have korean dishes there are no complimentary panchon. Rather those side are purchased individually.... Also their options have a unique spin. We started with the full Monty as we couldn't decide on which of the marinated sides to try. Hubby really likes the cold mushroom salad.. the cucumber for him was a bit tooo spicy but I really liked... kimchi made in house but not a fan as more vinegary than chili... the eggs are a nice taste and unique... daikon is daikon... the rice has a interesting crunch due to the compound butter added in. Tonight because it's opening... everyone got complimentary chicken dumplings... really tasty... we also ordered the pork kimchi dumplings. I liked those but hubby thought filling a bit dense for his taste. The sauce on the chicken dumplings is the sauce also served on the shrimp dumplings... note sauce in bottom of the bowl with dumplings on top. I'd probably ask to have this deconstructed as I don't like my dumplings to soak up a lot of sauce... I'd rather dip! For our main we shared the Spicy Bulgogi Stir Fry which consisted of Rice Cakes, shaved marinated Ribeye, Gochujang, Mushrooms. I didn't ask questions which I should have... this option is heavy on the rice cakes... in case it matters those rice cakes are cylinders versus my preference which are sliced.... Enjoyed these recipes for the most part but found everything to be on the sweet side. I did talk to the manager as I was leaving... she commented that everything is made to order so can be adjusted for food preferences. Also menu same thru out the day with the exception of any specials as those differ between lunch and dinner. We had way more than the two of us could eat so we got everything packaged to go. Note. While they normally do takeout they hadn't yet started that due to today being opening. Yes they gave a full bar... also desert but were too full to even look at the menu!

Today we came to Chiko for the first time for a late lunch. Small and clean , the place was empty and a friendly waiter came to take our drinks order. We were really hungry and glad that if there are no clients we can get our food prettt quickly. My husband had limonade and I decided to go for Bloody Mary as I wanted to have a brunch feeling Unfortunately, my cocktail was quite plain, pickled radish on site was helping a bit, but still not making it... Meanwhile my daughter lunch arrived and she started to eat. We were talking, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting. When she finished eating , different waiter finally appeared with one portion of food putting it in the middle.... Our guy misunderstood the order ( we had ordered the same thing) , and asked if we still wanted the other portion, I convinced my husband to do so( as he got a bit upset) Second portion came faster than the first one and the food was pretty good. I've got mixed feelings today, so maybe I'll give it another chance and hopefully will have a better experience.

Food as always was excellent and spot on. We went during the 8th anniversary so we ordered about half the menu. The staff was very helpful, even though it got quite packed towards the end of the meal. The team did a great job of keeping up with the orders and brought food out in a timely manner. The place had a festive vibe going on as it seemed like we were getting ready to party :). My go to plates and apps are the garlic shrimp dumplings. These are excellent little bites of maximum stuffed shrimp, with a slight heat to the bite. The sauce they come in is really good, like a soy tamari perfect dumpling sauce. The wok fried green beans are a great order as well, because they hit every time. The snap on the beans compliments the heat level and are quite enjoyable when paired with the meal as an app. The Chicken spring rolls are always so hot and fresh, and the crisp is heavenly. I often convince the table to let me eat the ends, because of how perfect the crisp is on the spring rolls. They come with a house hot mustard that is one of my favorite sauces ever, the zing the flavor what perfection! The brisket is always amazing, as its soy glaze shines but doesn't completely over take the flavor of the brisket. The rice cakes and bulgogi are a classic that feels very much like comfort food. The pillowy rice cakes really absorb the flavor of the gochujang and the scallions add a nice crisp to the dish. The beef is perfectly seasoned and cooked as it just falls apart while chewing. Also got the lamb noodles (my all time favorite) and had to pack it up. The smashed salmon is a favorite of my diners that went with me. The Jjajangmyeon is a great seafood lovers noodle!

I was blown away by the cumin lamb stir fry. Definitely try it if you're no stranger to spicy foods. I was expecting it to be "American spicy", but wow did it pack a punch! My wife got the dolsot bibimbap and enjoyed that as well. Both dishes came out piping hot and were pretty spot on with authentic flavors. The drink menu looked interesting. I'll definitely go back to try some next time.

We stopped for a quick bike and loved it! Food was delicious and our host (guy with grasses) was very friendly! We didn't get a chance to try their cocktails so we will be back for sure! Restaurant was clean!

I have not been to the DC locations but I have dined at the Bethesda location. I am a sucker for all foods that are Asian and Asian fusion. The highlight of this place was definitely the food. The service was not ideal as our server didn't check on us and we had to look for her or any server when we needed assistance. I am not sure if they are short staffed. But it seemed like the hostess and our server wasn't very proactive. The place did get packed quickly. There is a bar with surrounding seating. I expected more seating inside like the Bethesda location. I think they could fit in a couple more tables. Food was good. My kids loved the kids buttered noodles, and the kids crispy chicken and tots dishes. They devoured the lightly fried chicken which was very tender that I wanted to steal their food. My husband and I liked their cumin lamb stir fry. It was flavorful and had all the right balance of spices. The green beans were also very good, though I think it was drenched in too much sauce, which was fine with me because we took home the leftovers and mixed the extra sauce with noodles. My husband likes chilled peanut noodles and the one here made him a fan. I did find it odd how the portion sizes of the dishes that we ordered were almost all the same. It didn't matter if it was from the kids menu, small plates, or entrees. It was relatively all the same sizes. The only difference were the prices. We would come back for the food.

Their menu features an impressive all-you-can-eat selection of premium meats and seafood, and we always appreciate the BIG variety. The quality of the meat truly stands out -- it's fresh, well-cut, and consistently flavorful. You can taste the difference. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, quick to bring refills, and they proactively replace the grill multiple times throughout the meal -- which makes a huge difference in keeping everything tasting clean and fresh. That level of attention is rare and so appreciated. The side dishes (banchan) are always fresh and plentiful. The menu was very extensive serving Japanese and Korean dishes. I started off with the Yellow Tail Collar for my appetizer. I was excited when I saw the size of the portion being served to me. Although, it was very dry which was a let down. It was also a bit bland as well. For my main dish I got a rice bowl, an unagi bowl to be exact. Again, it was just adequate. Thankfully the bowl was a generous amount of food. Sadly, it was just a bit one dimensional and I got tired of eating it after awhile. Also, I felt like the bones were a little more pronounced than what I am use to when eating eel. Therefore, my experience was average. I may give it another shot if I am in the area again.

Attached is a picture of the what the Lion King Roll is supposed to look like and what we received. The crab meat on top looks like a spaghetti. The end pieces of the roll (that didn't have the tail) were all avocado and not even a little shrimp, I know that skimping out on the ends is normal but no shrimp at all is ridiculous. After eating two pieces my stomach has been hurting for the last 7 hours. The last time we got lunch from here the rolls we normally love did not taste the same, but at least they didn't get us sick so we thought maybe it was unlucky. They need to fire whoever is making the rolls during lunch because this quality control is terrible.
