    Menu - # 17 - 30 - March 2024 - BRAND NEW EATERY replacing K Town in H Mart on Elden St in Herndon - Zoom in for details/prices
    I C.

NEWLY OPENED MIN GA NAE EATERY IN H MART KOREAN GROCERY STORE ON ELDEN ST IN HERNDON. Replaced K Town - guess they couldn't cut it. Based on the poor reviews I read about K Town, probably no surprise. This place serves EXCELLENT AUTHENTIC KOREAN AND KOREAN-CHINESE CLASSIC MENU ITEMS in a cafeteria-style setting. I have posted pics of the double-sided menu (they have helpful pics of each of the 30 offerings!) - helpful English / Korean translations for each item - nice touch! Order and pay at the front cashier station - they will call your number when your order is ready for pick up. * Fresh, made to order menu items * Fresh ingredients - you can tell. * DELICIOUS TASTY FOOD. AUTHENTIC KOREAN FARE. * PIPING HOT out of the kitchen - party of 2, we ordered a single order of Tang Soo Yuuk sweet and sour pork - sooo hot our mouths were burning! * HUGE PORTION SIZES - check out my pic of the dish we ordered. DEFINITELY ENOUGH TO SHARE. Normally, I would get a Tang Soo Yuuk and a noodle dish like JaJang Myeun (noodles in black bean paste - another Korean classic dish) and share both but this time, we just needed a quick-pick-me-up so we just ordered the one dish - HEARTY AND DELICIOUS - WE EVEN TOOK LEFTOVERS HOME for another meal at home! * Clean eat-in dining area (bus your own dishes / table after you finish up): plenty of table seating * Rice and drinks out of the refrig case reasonably priced - they don't gouge you * Conveniently located in the H Mart shopping center right on Elden Street - easy in and out, loads of lot parking * Prices are actually fair and decent for the quantity (portion size) and food quality you get. For 2 of us, 1 huge dish to share, side of rice each, cold drink each and complimentary banchan (kimchi and yellow radish), we paid $30 - we were filled and satisfied and even took home leftovers for another whole meal! * Super friendly service. Authentic Korean hospitality. * Fast service though food is made to order (read: FRESH) so you will end up waiting a bit after you place your order. This is not a high end place so don't expect much, ambience-wise. I mean - you're eating inside a Korean grocery store lol. So yeh. BUTTTTTTTTTT...if you're hankering for authentic classic Korean / Korean-Chinese, good prices, great value, delicious piping hot fresh fare, easy in and out parking in a clean setting - LOOK NO FURTHER! HIGHLY RECOMMEND MIN GA NAE.

Food is always delicious and people are really nice. Clean restaurant and really fast to serve food. To be honest, here is my fav restaurant!

Found a hair on this piece.

Food here is great value and delicious! You serve yourself water or barley tea and other condiments you need. I had the galbi this time around. I've had their Ginseng Chicken, Mackerel and Stews. I would've given this place a 5 star but I found hair on my galbi. Like it was cooked into it, melted and entwined with one of the pieces. I hope the owners find my review and make sure the staff wears hair nets.

Food is decent, I'd say they are better than other more expansive Korean restaurants in the area.

Big flavor and even bigger portions for such a small dining spot in the corner of H Mart.

I do really like the online menu, where you can see big clear pictures of each dish. Inside the restaurant they do have small paper copies of the menu (without pictures) that you can use to choose your order before entering it on the kiosk. Taste of Korea is strictly self-service. You place your order on the electronic kiosk inside the front door. You also pick up your order from the counter and bus your table as well. Water is self-service too, which is good. I ordered the B5. Sizzling Stone Pot Bibimap. It was pretty good and I especially liked the banchan that came with it. But as I mentioned, the portion size was small (and the amount of beef skimpy), though you do have the option of adding extra ingredients for a price. Some pieces of the meat did have an off-flavor. There was a cup of broth (not miso) that came with the bibimap but it had no flavor. It was like drinking warm water. JP ordered the C6. Korean Style Pork Belly. The pork belly was very good and this dish also came with banchan and broth. We also ordered the Spicy Baby Octopus. It wasn't super spicy but it had a very delicious sauce. But probably more onion than octopus. We also ordered the Chicken Bulgogi, which was excellent. However, these two dishes only came with rice, and not banchan. I doubt we will come back because of the price vs. quantity ratio.

We went with their cold noodle set that came with dumplings and cold noodles. The dumplings were large and had a paper thin skin. They were so full that it looked like they wanted to burst. The slightly sour kimchi flavor went great with the noodles. The noodles were pretty standard, nice thing chewy noodles that were really refreshing. Solid spot that had lots of other Korean options that I'll be sure to try. Apps: Kimchi Dumplings Entrees: Bibim Naengmyeon (Spicy Cold Noodles and Mul Naengmyeon (Cold Noodles)

The ambiance inside is casual-classy. It is a good place to eat with coworkers or for a first date. The service was really good as well. Our waiter did a great job presenting our drinks and pouring the matcha lemonade. He made thoughtful recommendations and was very funny too. The food also was high quality and moderately priced. The miso eggplant was a nice sized appetizer for sharing and was seasoned nicely. The chicken ramen was also the perfect amount of spicy, had a good ratio of noodles to broth to vegetables, and was presented well. The dishes paired well with the matcha lemonade, which was aesthetically presented, had a subtle sweet lychee flavor, and was perfectly balanced. I've been to other Jinya's and this experience matched the quality and service of the other times. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you're craving ramen!

Galbi deopbap- it was mostly onion with slivers of meat that had a lot of fat. Meat weren't the usual La Galbi cut either- it looked like they were just leftover trimmings of short rib! Very mediocre taste also. I mean compare my photo to what's displayed on Uber Eats menu. KFC- biggest issue. Wings came naked WITH KETCHUP packets... they were bland and not even really that crispy! So I called the restaurant and then asked to please fix this, at least refund for the wings. They go on to say "well you should have chosen the sauce because some people want them naked." Well guess what, there's no option to "choose" sauce on Uber Eats. The lady confirms it and says they still can't refund but I can come to the restaurant to pick up a new order. I mean I'm not going to leave dinner table to pick up this order that THEY messed up and waste an hour. I asked if I can talk to her boss and she says she's not here. The lady agrees they messed up but still refused to fix it. Not sure what to say. I understand sometimes people have bad days and food quality may vary but it's pretty upsetting they straight up refuse to fix their issue. First time ordering here but very disappointed, not only because of the food but the because the way they handled the issue- clearly they don't care. Will not be ordering again.

Chiko is no exception. A Korean-Chinese fusion concept with bright yellow and black decor, a friendly and responsive wait staff and a unique menu that won't be found elsewhere, we're working our way through the variety of bowls, dumplings and entrees that all combine multiple sweet, sour, and spicy elements as a foundation for the dishes. We knew nothing about Korean food, moving here from Colorado where everything was with steak or burgers. (I'm exaggerating a bit). The diverse population of the area is clearly reflected in the number and variety of restaurants. If you're not familiar with Korean food this is a good place to start at reasonable prices. The dining room isn't very big, and since we came for an early dinner, we had our pick and chose a four-top with a view. Well... the view was basically the Paris Baguette that's across the street. The general manager came by to take our order. To drink, I had a mocktail, "house-made lime cooler," which consists of "pureed Asian pear, lime juice, and Sichuan tea." I found it to be very refreshing. My husband had a Coors Light. For my entree, I chose "Soy glazed brisket" which consists of "2Fifty Texas BBQ brisket, soy brined soft egg, furitake butter, pickled peppers, steamed rice". I liked this entree. It was mildly spiced; the pieces of brisket were properly prepared; the pickled peppers added some heat; and the soy-brined soft egg was a nice touch. The egg was soft-boiled, and the egg yolk provided a nice flavor. My husband chose "JJayJangmeon" which consists of "shrimp, scallops, roasted black bean sauce, noodles". The dish is made with wheat noodles. It arrived hot and with a nice vegetable garnish on top. The greenness of the vegetables made a nice contrast to the dark brown sauce. That brown sauce was hot, mild, and thoroughly coated the dish's ingredients. It seemed a bit unusual to see a dish with shrimp and scallops coated in a mild black bean sauce, but it worked nicely. The shrimp arrived tail-less, and the scallops were soft and not rubbery, both properly prepared. I was glad not to have to fight with the shrimp tails. All in all, we were glad we made a return visit.
