Update: The manager made a great effort to reach out and rectify the miscommunication, and they immediately refunded me the difference between the quote and paid price. While I obviously appreciate the refund, it was very heartening to see how much they went out of their way to fix the issue. Original review: I got locked out of my bedroom within my apartment and called Chicago Locksmiths. They said it would be $40 for the cost of them coming and for a basic door handle that I described, probably around $40 more to unlock the door. The locksmith came in about 30 min and looked at the lock and expressed that it was pretty simple. However, after a few minutes, he seemed to be having trouble with it but I did not mind waiting. It ended up taking him over an hour to unlock the room. I appreciate his work and that he was able to unlock the door in the end, but I was charged $128 for the service. This is really steep considering it was a simple lock and I was quoted ~$80. I am not sure if I was charged this much because of how long it took but from my impression from both my initial phone call and my initial conversation with the locksmith when he arrived, this unlocking should have taken much less time, and more importantly, cost much less. Not sure I would call them again. read more

Use Dexter on Aldine or Security Shop on Clark, these are NOT real locksmiths, they are trained to drill your lock in order to charge you much more and ultimately sell you a crap lock from China that will cost 5 to 10 times the value. That is the scam, DO NOT LET ANYONE DRILL ANYTHING, it is a last resort and an honest, competent locksmith can open your door without destroying the lock. That is why it is an craft and a trade. They low-balled me on the phone saying "$19 and up" Long story short, you WILL pay at least 160 for any job, this I can promise, I've used them twice. Use an American shop that has been in the neighborhood for a while, not these scammers who spring up all over using call centers in other countries. Also these reviews are bought and paid for: my technician essentially bribed me to write a review saying he would take off 5 of 10% of the bill, that is why they have so many reviews! youtube: "locksmith scam"..... this is who they are reporting about. This is the 3rd time I've posted this review, so apparently they are unwilling to challenge my comments and getting them deleted, whats there to hide? read more

After having a harrowing time trying to copy keys at Lowe's and The Home Depot, I was putting off making some key copies. At this point, I had given up. After biking by Chicago Locksmiths many a day, I decided I'd give it a shot. And oh boy, I'm glad I did. From start to finish, I had a divine experience at Chicago Locksmiths. As soon as we walked in, my sweetheart and I were immediately assisted by Tory in copying a set of keys. I initially chose some cute colors for my keys, to give me a little joie de vivre in my everyday life. However, upon seeing the $4.25 up-charge, I hesitated. Tory saw my hesitation and gave me a deal! To add to the magic, Tory informed me I didn't even need to take my keys off my ring - I was dreading that. What a relief! After the quick key copying, we were ready to go. I gave a frustrated sigh at the struggle to add my keys to my tiny key ring, and what do you know - Tory slid me a new key ring! The best key ring I've laid my hands on, I might add. I'm walking away telling all my friends, family, and even enemies to head on down to Chicago Locksmiths. read more

After days of searching for my only misplaced (by my son) car key I finally gave up and searched for a nearby locksmith for autos and Chicago Locksmith showed. I was won over by the Best Rates and Reviews on Yelp. I can honestly say the Rates and Review were on point as Robert, the Lock Tech, representing Chicago Locksmith showed up from the North Milwaukee (60647) location. From the response time of my initial request for a quote the return call for service that was quick. The estimated cost/quote was in line. The lock tech, Robert offered flexible timing (same day) for service, efficient, and knowledgeable was Robert as he was able to cover the additional questions and concerns I had. Thank you Robert and Chicago Locksmith for your service. Now I can avoid getting a ticket and able to move my car before street cleaning. Most importantly - Drive! Also, the Young Lady that answers the calls and followUp was pleasantly great! It's said that the Customer Service Reps are the face, voice, and character of a company. Thanks for making my day! read more

We just moved into a loft in Wrigley and as the previous tenant was leaving he quickly mentioned that "sometimes" the lock doesn't work on the front door... We didn't know if the lock was broken or what, but the deadbolt wouldn't turn and the door wouldn't even stay closed! After a brief chat with their call center (very friendly!), Thomas Dean was sent to our rescue! He quoted us a super reasonable price (which is exactly what he charged us) AND he worked very quickly...especially keeping in mind a few things: 1. We have steel doors! 2. We needed both a new deadbolt AND a new doorknob/lock- both of which he brought (with keys) 3. Our interior hall light is out! He was practically working in the dark! Plus, he explained clearly what the issues were so we could tell our landlord. He was just the best! Anybody who's ever moved knows what a P.I.T.A. it is... Thomas was the only bright spot in the whole process!! Thanks again, Thomas!! read more

So my ex girlfriend kept coming into my house with her old key which I thought I took but apparently she made copies. It wasn't a situation I couldn't handle until she said she was going to harm my pets. So I called the first locksmith I seen on google knowing I had to go to work the next day and didn't want to leave my pets in danger. Jasmine answered the phone and made my job a priority and they actually came quickly, like really quick and changed all my locks. I don't remember the guy name but he sort of looked like Sam Smith(sorry). Either way he was really good and didn't make it awkward at all. It was like having a friend in my house that cared about animals as much as me. Long story short, I don't usually write reviews but had to write this one because they did a phenomenal job coming in a quick fashion and made me feel secure once again. Thanks guys, I definitely recommend this place. read more

My wife and I just moved into a new place and we've encountered a number of fixes that we didn't anticipate. As you can imagine, we've been frustrated since moving in. The previous owner left us about a dozen keys in a kitchen drawer, but only two worked. We knew we had to have the locks rekeyed but neither my wife nor I have ever needed a locksmith before. I started searching online and and after reading a number of yelp reviews I called Chicago Locksmiths. Mike from Chicago Locksmiths came out and quickly rekeyed 7 locks for us without any problems. Mike was great to deal with and he did a fantastic job. He provided us some normalcy knowing we had a new set of locks and keys to match. It was definitely worth the cost. It was about $35 per lock. We'll be calling Mike again to install an electronic lock for us. I would strongly recommend Mike from Chicago Locksmiths. read more

Excellent service by Mike! Came on time, did very clean installation. New lock works great! I want to add a bit to my review. When the new deadbolt was installed the building required a high-security cylinder so Mike had to special order that internal part (which matched my existing door locks.) He installed a temporary lock then came back a couple of days later to install the new cylinder. This lock requires special keys and he wasn't sure that the blank he had would work. He suggested that I go to the Chicago Locksmith office (on Milwaukee near Western) to get the keys cut. I did so the next day and they could not have been more helpful. They gave me four new key copies for free to compensate for the extra trip I made. All of the copies work flawlessly. I give Chicago Locksmiths 5 stars for their quality and service! read more

Nick was great and a huge reason why I will be using this service for all my future locksmithing needs. On the day of our appointment, he called ahead of time to go over what I wanted done, helped me choose the specific locks, and gave a specific time for his arrival. Once he was at our place, he was in an out within an hour. We just moved into our first house, so we've had a lot of different service techs around and Nick was by far the best one of the bunch. Friendly, professional, and fast. He was very kind to our overly curious dog, too, which is always a huge bonus. Overall, I went from sending an inquiry on the website to completely done with new locks and rekeying everything in about 48 hours. Quick and easy! I would definitely recommend Chicago Locksmiths to all new homeowners. Worth the price! read more

Got locked out of my house the same day I closed!! While checking the property to see what keys operated what I left the rest of the keys in the kitchen knowing what they unlock/locked didn't realize the door knob was set to lock and required a key to re enter every time the door closes. I called Chicago locksmiths around 12am as they were the first to pop up and highly rated! And it's for good reason! the locksmith who took care of me arrived on scene in less than 10 minutes and was able to get me into my new home with ease using his skills. I got his business card and although I hope not to need him in the future you can guarantee I'll be calling Anthony Campese with Chicago locksmiths over anybody else! Proffesional, courteous, and everything do e in a timely manner you definitely deserve 5 stars! read more

I managed to lock myself out of my condo so called Chicago Locksmiths. I had a call back from Robert in about five minutes saying he could be with me in 20 minutes max! As I'd just ordered dinner I had to slow him down. He was waiting for me when I got to my building and he and Milan, his colleague, set about trying to gain entry. In about 30 minutes, most of which was taken trying to pick the lock so as to not damage the door or the jamb, we were in! A reasonable cost for the work and call out fee later they were on their way. Both Robert and Milan were pleasant and personable and really made what could have been a stressful occasion as easy as possible. I would unreservedly recommend this company for lockout situations or any other lock/door issues you may have. read more

First off, I think anyone reading this should know that I never leave reviews. For anything! But in this case, I had to leave a review because the service of the technician was so outstanding. Perhaps the best customer service I have ever received. I had a break in at my apartment and I needed to change the locks to my unit ASAP. Chicago Locksmiths came out same day to change my locks and install a deadbolt chain lock. The whole process took about 30 minutes. The technician Robert (RJ) was first-class professional right from the beginning. Not only was he an expert at what he was doing, he provided suggestions and was genuinely interested and compassionate about my situation. That's rare in any business and it was quite refreshing. Thanks again RJ! read more

Outstanding service! Chicago Locksmiths is well deserving of a high rating. I called around to a few locksmiths that I found online for pricing and availability for a basic (non-emergency) 4-lock re-keying, and they had the best pricing and the most flexibility with scheduling. The office staff and Tory (locksmith) were very responsive and took time to answer all of my questions. They were very fair/up-front about pricing and honored their online coupons. When it came time for my scheduled appointment, Tory was terrific with giving me an ETA on his arrival, arrived promptly, worked efficiently, and was generally very helpful and incredibly nice. I cannot recommend Chicago Locksmiths enough and would not hesitate to use them again in the future. read more

The incident happened a couple of months ago, after returning home from work I discovered I had lost the key to the main gate of my house. And how embarrassing that moment is that only those who have suffered will realize it. But I haven't forgotten about the Chicago Locksmith, and their incredible service. I have taken their services many times in the last 4 years and have never been disappointed. I like them for that because they respond very quickly and reach the customer without any delay. Each of their staff and technicians is extremely polite and friendly. They arrived on time and broke my old lock and set a new lock. They took only 45 minutes to complete the work. They are always honest and standard in terms of price. read more

August 27th 2015 I was at my daughter and son in-law's house while they were at work. I was helping prepare for their upcoming move. When I went out to my rental car, I realized the keys were not in my purse. Somehow I managed to lock myself out of the front door and the garage entry door, so the keypad made no difference. I had my phone though and googled emergency locksmith. Chicago Locksmiths (24/7) popped up. They answered immediately, fees were clear: $40 to come out, additional $65 or $85 depending on work involved. Stephen and co-worker were there within 10 minutes. They were great and it was it was such a relief to be back in the house so quickly. Thank you Stephen, co-worker and Chicago Locksmiths 24/7! read more

Just got back from Chicago, IL. Had an amazing time in Chicago until one night after partying I realized I locked my keys inside the apartment. I did a house swapped with another couple to come to Astoria NY. Anyway I was helpless and stranded outside 2:30am in the morning with my fiance. I looked up these guys and found on yelp, I got a quote that I love. They send out a tech in about 15min to the location. The tech was very friendly and pro at what he was doing and explain everything step by step. I ended up paying less than what he quoted me over the phone because all he did was to picked the lock. Thankfully the person I swapped apartments with don't have to know about this. read more

I rarely write reviews but had to make an exception here. When I lost my house keys in my neighborhood I knew I needed to change the locks to protect my wife & daughter. After doing a thorough online search & calling around, I decided to use Chicago Locksmith. I was very impressed when they were able to get to me within 20 minutes. It was so fast that I actually needed to tell them to make an appointment for 75 minutes later. Tory arrived on time & did all locks so quickly that my wife & I were both surprised when he said he was done. We now have a locksmith for life & would recommend them to anyone who likes fast, friendly, professional service. read more
