I had a problem with my driver's side car door lock. I was not able to open the door manually when inserting the key in the lock even though I had a functioning fob key. When I inquired over the phone, they thought it might need a new cylinder lock which would range from $75.00 to $175.00 depending upon whether the door panel had to be removed. As it turned out, it was simply a tumbler in the lock that had to be readjusted. The charge was $31 and a few cents. Jordan spent nearly an hour performing surgical like repairs. I told him that the $31.00 charge was too little and I told him to add an extra $25.00. I am almost certain that if I had gone any where else, they would have "taken me for a ride" and charged me close to $200 or more. Excellent, professional service with integrity and honesty. They responded quickly to my quote, were not too expensive, set-up a time for a visit quickly, and even allowed me to reschedule my visit after I had a conflict. After accidentally locking my keys in my car just before heading to my weekly performance gig, a family member came to the rescue with our one spare key in the nick of time, thankfully. But I knew I needed to make ANOTHER spare key to keep on hand myself for future times when my family isn't answering their phones! So I headed to Ace Hardware to get my car key copied, but unfortunately they didn't have the right part in stock, so they recommended I go to Chicago Locksmiths down the street in Logan Square. Not only was the clerk at Chicago Locksmiths (sorry I didn't catch your name on Saturday, 7/14!) super friendly, but once he made the key, he said since he noticed some slight differences between it and the original, that I ought to carefully test it in my car door, and if it didn't work, to NOT turn the key, let alone put it in the ignition. He was really concerned that the key would work, but since I was parked several blocks away, he took no payment from me, but said to only come back if the key didn't work. What a nice guy! Even better, the key did work, so I didn't go back in, but wanted to make sure to thank him somehow by letting others know what a helpful person and good locksmith he is! I lost my only car key for a car that needs a chip. Called around the dealership and the key and for them to program the key would end up costing $350, not including the towing i would have to do to get the car since they do not do emergency programing. My car was stolen and was recovered without keys and all of the doors were locked. I called these guys and they assigned me to Robert. Robert was extremely helpful. He waited at the impound lot for almost 2 hrs while they were searching for my car buried under the snow in. We had fun conversation while we waited and once they found my car, he made me my keys in less than half an hour!! Robert is extremely professional, fun, and helpful person.
