Nathan was SO professional and helpful. Had a very bad experience with a creepy locksmith from the night before so we actually wanted someone else to come out and redo the work. Can't thank him enough. Pricing was also very transparent and reasonable. read more

Highly recommend! I used Chicago Locksmiths when I lost my car keys. The agent I initially spoke with was pleasant and helpful and connected me with Robert, who was at my place within a half-hour on a Sunday, took some information from me, and thirty minutes later, I had new keys. He gave me a good rate on a spare key as well, so it's worth asking about it if you get into my predicament. He even gave me some advice for keeping my car door locks in good health. I was very happy with Robert's service and professionalism. I shopped around, and the price was pretty reasonable. Thanks, Chicago Locksmiths! read more

I tried getting a key made at Menard's using their do-it-yourself machine. Three tries, none worked. Then I stayed in the neighborhood, went to Chicago Locksmiths and got a key that worked! Such a difference having individual attention. I also needed advice on a lock for the maintenance room in our condo building. He looked at the photos I had taken and brainstormed ways to resolve the problem we were having. I was really impressed that he took the time to help me even when it was not a "sale." I will definitely use them for any future key and/or lock issues. read more

What an amazing experience! I called Chicago locksmiths to change locks at my mom's new office. We had multiple locks with multiple keys that operate these locks and they were able to change some of the locks and make one master key that opens all of them. Tory was extremely helpful, professional and friendly. He even gave us five free keys and some security consulting for the business. Thank you, Tory and Chicago Locksmiths for being so helpful! read more

Paul was extremely helpful, managed to get us into our apartment within seconds. He also warned us about locksmith scams around Chicago--two other "locksmiths" came over before him to try and get us in, turns out they were actually the same scams he warned us about. Both tried to airbag our door and immediately suggested drilling the lock. Neither could get us in. Don't fall for similar scams. Chicago Locksmiths are legit. I called at 2 AM locked out of my apartment. They said they had all my info and they would call back when on their way. I waited 2 hours and called them back after not getting a call. They said they weren't sure what the hold up was they would call me on their way. Again, nothing. I waited until my landlord could let me in. Oh! They did call me back about 3 days later. read more

When you find yourself without a key, this place makes getting a replacement as easy as possible. From the point of estimate (through Yelp), asking/answering questions, to onsite service, Chicago Locksmiths was easy, responsive and helpful. Ben, our technician, called when he was on the way, arrived right as planned and was very professional. He worked quickly and found a solution to our lost key dilemma in no time. Thanks Ben! And highly recommend Chicago Locksmiths. read more

Matt was awesome. Explained everything clearly, re-keyed our locks to perfection, and shared some info about some weird things going on with our deadbolt. All with a sense of humor. Thanks! read more

Apparently there's such a thing as form fitting locks. If you don't put the key in all the way, the shape of the lock changes and your key will no longer work. All was fixed efficiently and professionally and I was back to my yellow lab maxi boo boo in no time. Thank you! read more

So my front storm door has been giving me the flux for months. I finally got locked inside my house for the last time.. Looked on Yelp and phoned a couple of businesses and got NO RESPONSE. Best locksmith service in town! Tory went above and beyond, I called for a simple lock fix, and while he was here, he tested out a few other locks in my house! I really recommend using these guys when in need. He showed up on time and rekeyed 3 door locks for me. It didn't take very long and he charged me a reasonable service fee. Our condo building front door knob and lock malfunctioned and we contacted Chicago Locksmiths. The office support staff was professional and on top of scheduling someone to come out and fix the problem with email reminders, and follow-up. Moe was the technician and he was extremely professional and skilled at fixing the problems. He re-pinned the lock so it was easier to open and he replaced the doorknob and supporting hardware at a fair cost. Great job, Moe, thanks. We will definitely call Chicago Locksmith for any future locksmith needs. read more

I am surprised by the high Yelp rating- it is why I chose them as well. The technician missed the 45 min appointment window by a lot- my husband and I waited close to two hours. I questioned why my husband kept wanting to wait for them. We were quoted a different range of fees on the phone as well. When the technician finally showed up, he off the the bat--His attitude is poor and combative which did not sit well with me considering we waited so long for him to begin with. We ended up going with a different company and didn't mind paying more. We just needed transparency and respect for our time, which Chicago Locksmith cannot provide. read more

My key broke off in my Kryptonite New York U-Lock. I needed it cut off, and Joe from Chicago Locksmiths was my guy. He was very professional and courteous, and cut off the lock without damaging my bike, which was a feat because the lock was in an awkward position in the first place. He was also fast. Now I can ride my bike again! I recommend Joe and Chicago Locksmiths to anyone. I'll be calling them again next time I'm locked out. read more

From the first point of contact with Jenna over the phone I could tell I was in good hands. She gave me a reasonable quote and also gave me alternatives to coming in person so that the price was better. I did end up coming into the store, it was really quick service and Cris helped right away with a friendly attitude even though it was soon to close on a Sunday. Definitely would come back if needed and recommend to all. read more

After traveling all day, I came home to my lock not turning upon inserting the key, again. This time, the maintenance man couldn't jimmy the door open. Boo! So I sit in the hallway with groceries and luggage looking on Yelp for a locksmith. I checked Yelp and opted for Chicago Locksmiths. I got a quote, called a few other places, and opted for Chicago Locksmiths. I phoned them back and they said they'd send a technician over shortly. A few minutes later, Gabriel called me and said he'll be over in 20-25 minutes. Sure enough, he arrived within the time. He talked me through what he suspected the problem was, how to fix it, the tools he was using, and what our options were. I kept asking if he could wait to do anything big because I was communicating with my landlord in real time to make sure costs and everything that was being done is okay. In the end, Gabriel got me in as soon as possible. He took extra time to make sure everything was in its place and working correctly. I super appreciate is friendliness and attention to detail and doing it right. I was even able to pay via credit card and received a digital receipt. I cannot recommend Chicago Locksmiths enough. I will definitely be utilizing them for any lock needs in the future. You should too! read more

My review includes delays, threats, and cops. The summary: don't use Chicago locksmiths services. They are not punctual rude scammers and liars. The review: the tech was late, arrived with wrong blank key, tried to force me to agree to use the wrong key for the same price, then called the cops to force me to pay "cancellation" fee. Stay away from this company. The story: I lost the only car key I had, and car dealership suggested to find locksmith. I found Chicago locksmiths online and decided to call them after seeing all those good reviews on yelp. Called Chicago locksmiths on Friday and everything seemed normal: yes they do car keys, yes they can do a key even if I don't have any, and yes the key will include the remote. Final yes, $290 quote includes everything - blank key price and technician on-site. Moreover, they told me they can do it the same day and that the technician will call me about the time. Initially they told me it will be around 4pm. 4pm had passed, no tech call. After several calls to the Chicago locksmiths reps and after about 4 or 5 hours of waiting it finally got moved to Saturday 11am because tech "got stuck at another project". Very professional. On Saturday morning I received a call from tech and we agreed to meet at 12pm - already a delay. I arrived to on-site at 12pm and, of course, the tech was not there. After waiting for 30 minutes and after a call to the Chicago locksmiths and after waiting for 15 minutes more the tech arrived. Finally, I thought. Well, the story is just starting: after checking my driver's license and car registration (which he took to his car to make copies) he looked at the locked car and he told me he doesn't have the blank key with remote. After that he showed me the blank key without the remote, but, apparently, his blank will cost the same $290 for everything because he has "high security" blank without remote which costs the same as "normal security" with the remote. BUT, he told me, I should not care about "some buttons". All I should care about is "to get the key and drive away". Basically he tried to frame the situation as urgent and constrained to force me to agree to his terms. I have to say that his communication style was very unpleasant and insolent - I have never been treated like that before. Anyway. I told him I agreed to pay the steep $290 price for the key with remote. I said I don't agree to him making the key without the remote for the same price. All this looked like he (or rather Chicago locksmiths) is trying to take advantage of my situation - that I don't have a key from the car and I need it. During the call with customer representative I provided all the information about the car, but the technician came over unprepared with the wrong key. Or they did not have the correct blank key at all and just tried to scam me to get the key they had at the moment. He called his office. The customer rep. called me and tried to persuade me that I should agree to the changed terms. After I refused they just hung up on me - nice customer service. Now, because the scam was falling apart, he told me I owe him $40 "cancellation" fee. Really? He could not provide the service we agreed upon, and I refused the service he was trying to impose. He also told me that during my initial call (which was recorded) I should have agreed to $40 cancellation fee. I told him: first - no, there was not a single word about cancellation fee, second - even if they have this cancellation fee I am not going to pay it because it is not my fault the service got cancelled. He calls his office again and in the conversation calls me a scumbag intentionally loud so I can hear it. Nice tech :) I requested that my driver's license and registration should be returned. Instead he threatened to call the cops because I refuse to pay the $40 cancellation fee. I told him to go ahead, I am calling the cops too because he refuses to return my driver's license and registration. We both called 911, two police cars arrived in minutes. We told the cops our stories. Cops told us they could not force me to pay $40 cancellation fee I have never agreed to. So they made a "civil dispute" police report about the incident, provided us with the report number, and I received my driver's license and registration back. I found another locksmith company which was able to make the correct key the same day (Saturday) without any problems. read more

I was in the neighborhood and needed some copies made so I walked over to Chicago Locksmiths. The woman working was super helpful and had the copies cut in less than five minutes. When I went to pay for the copies, I realized I left my debit card over at Logan Bar and Grill. I told her I'd be right back to pay for the 2 copies, but she gave me the keys on the house. Her gesture was so appreciated and definitely gained my loyalty. Hopefully this doesn't get her in trouble! I promise to pay back ten fold! Thanks for being great! read more
