Called on a saturday, figuring I'd schedule them to come out in a week or so. The phone dispatcher was amazingly helpful. He asked me some questions, figured out what would be needed for the job, and within 5 minutes I received a call from Tory, who arrived at my door 20 minutes later. I had a Kwikset Smart Code deadbolt installed into a hollow metal door. Everything was done perfectly, and this was a more complicated install than the usual wood door. Couldn't be happier with the quality of the work and the amazing responsiveness getting the job done so quickly. Very fair price as well. read more

We had a different experience than most of these reviewers. Chicago Locksmith sent a contractor out to do our small job (two interior doors that needed fixing as they wouldn't stay shut). On one of the doors, the contractor installed a new door knob above the old door knob (instead of removing the old and adding in the new or something like that) so now we have two door knobs right on top of each other - looks great! (It doesn't look great it looks awful). And the new doorknob is at a weirdly high level in the door. Some advice: get an estimate. The guy used a $300 door knob assemblage which we had to pay for, I would have been happy with a $25 doorknob from home depot. Its an interior door. Finally, his drill died out and he did not have a charger. Also he had to remove a lock he installed as it didn't work, right before he left. Anyway, our experience was not good. read more

Woke up early to realize my keys were locked inside my car (yaya I know I should have 2 sets, but good god it is almost $100 to get another pair for my car). Called Chicago Locksmith based on reviews; they were easy to work with, got to my place relatively quickly (30minutes), friendly, and were able to quickly unlock the car. Would not recommend. We used Chicago Locksmiths about 5 months ago to install a new lock. Within a couple of months, the bottom bolt/handle stopped properly closing and now it's to the point where we have to deadbolt the door to ensure safety. We tried to call to see if there is anything that they can do and they would not do anything without charging the full service amount again (originally paid over $100 for about 15 minutes of work). Don't try to get a key copied here. I spoke to Annette. She had me text her photos to "see if the locksmith could copy my key." Ok, kind of weird. Then she tells me to come in, yes he can copy it. I go to 212 W Randolph... It's a construction zone. I call Annette. Oops the address here is wrong. No apology nothing. So I get in my car and he's to the actual shop all the way north in Logan Square. The owner (apparently) won't copy my key because it says "Duplication Prohibited" and he tells me he could lose his job. Lol right. Well he could see that my key said that in the photo but still told me to come in. Also never heard of anyone taking that seriously. Told him it is my condo and this is the only key I have and all of the keys in my building say this but people all get keys copied no problem. Huge waste of my entire day running all over the city for these clowns then to be profiled (was wearing my workout clothes as I stopped what I was doing when Annette told me to hurry to the office the locksmith would wait one hour for me!) and that owner seemed to think I was some kind of thug trying to do something illegal. Went over to the next locksmith who did this no questions asked. read more

The locksmith that they sent was fast and arrived when he said he would. I needed to have him cut to lock off of a storage unit. The lock was at a weird angle but he worked his magic and it was off in no time. We did have one misunderstanding over the pricing on the job but the owner himself contacted me and made everything right.
