The locksmith, Jorge who came to my residence was extremely professional and agreeable. He represented this by calling first and then arriving within the time frame reflected in our phone conversation. Upon Jorge's arrival he was very congenial and pleasant, not at all rough and condescending to the lay person. You could tell Jorge was a master at work who was extremely proud of his profession and how he performed his trade. Jorge explained everything he was doing at every stage and did not look to gouge me at the highest cost by performing the least amount of work at the highest price. Jorge instead examined and manuvered that lock time and time again until it worked and looked as if it was reborn. Note though the lock was not new but by the time Jorge fininshed whipping it into shape I tell you, you couldn't tell the difference. Upon completion of his work I can proudly proclaim that I currently have a new locksmith that I can put in my roladex that I high highly recommend and whom I will personally call again and again. I just wish Jorge performed other tasks but I guesss that's why he is a master at his trade because I tell you he was truly focused and attentive while working on my lock. I highly recomend Chicago Locksmith and Jorge to each and everyone in need of a master locksmith. read more

NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU DELETE MY REVIEWS I WON'T QUIT Use Dexter on Aldine or Security Shop on Clark, these are NOT real locksmiths, they are trained to drill your lock in order to charge you much more and ultimately sell you a crap lock from China that will cost 5 to 10 times the value. That is the scam, DO NOT LET ANYONE DRILL ANYTHING, it is a last resort and an honest, competent locksmith can open your door without destroying the lock. That is why it is an craft and a trade. They low-balled me on the phone saying "$19 and up" Long story short, you WILL pay at least 160 for any job, this I can promise, I've used them twice. Use an American shop that has been in the neighborhood for a while, not these scammers who spring up all over using call centers in other countries. Also these reviews are bought and paid for: my technician essentially bribed me to write a review saying he would take off 5 of 10% of the bill, that is why they have so many reviews! youtube: "locksmith scam"..... this is who they are reporting about. read more

I manage an apartment, and I needed to be able to lock the gates to prevent vandalism, so I called the Chicago Locksmith. The lady on the phone was friendly and helpful, and they told me a specialist will be calling me in 5-10 minutes. Just like what she told me within 5 minutes Richard C. a specialist in locks called and answered all my questions, and he was able to stop by at a time I requested. He went well and beyond, and I appreciated his patients and his knowledge in locks. I rarely ever need to change locks, especially for a gate, but he was able to explain and even offer advise on how to be safer. Now with locked gates, I feel much safer and my tenants are so ecstatic that I addressed their issue right away. I have already started telling my buildings neighbors and friends about the wonderful service I received at Chicago Locksmith, the next time I ran into a problem I won't hesitate to call them again. Thank you so much Chicago Locksmith, thank you Richard C. for your knowledge and help. read more

We used Chicago locksmith when the doorknob to our balcony was jammed shut. We weren't sure who to call and tried several locksmiths on yelp but found that most of them were unhelpful or couldn't come for at least a week. Thank god we found Chicago locksmith! Their service options far outnumbered everyone else we called AND they had a technician nearby who was able to come right away. They even gave us updates on his arrival time, which was very fast! We barely had any wait time. Our technician was named Max and he was great! Super accommodating, friendly, and professional. He came prepared and got the job done quickly and expertly. He replaced our old, broken doorknob with a nice new one; it looks and works so much better now! Although we chose a pricier doorknob, he had multiple pricing options with him, which I hadn't expected. Overall, a great, easy experience! We will definitely be giving them a call when we get around to replacing our other old doorknobs! read more

A doorknob to the back entrance at my office had been jamming and giving us some trouble for the past couple of months. At a recent event we hosted, a caterer delivered the final blow by nailing it with their equipment. Woof. When I called Chicago Locksmith, I was immediately greeted with a friendly, helpful voice. I was given a reasonable quote that broke down the cost of labor, site visit, and hardware. Sold! Richard called the day of the appointment to confirm the time, and again to let me know he had to stop by the office to pick up the necessary hardware. It was so helpful to have an accurate ETA when I'm trying to schedule my work for the day! When he arrived, he was quick, courteous, and even offered to make me keys for a deadbolt we've never been able to open from the outside. Sweet! I highly recommend Chicago Locksmiths for quick, professional, and thorough work. Will definitely be calling again the next time we need a locksmith. read more

I accidentally locked myself out of my car in the loop today. I am not from the city, so my spare was over an hour drive away. I also had no idea who to call since we typically call the local police where I'm from. This was the first place that popped up on my phone, so I figured I'd call here first. When I called, the guy on the phone was very nice, and even asked if there was someplace warm I could hang out in until Tory arrived. He said he would have Tory call me for more info, and 5 mins before he arrived. As promised, Tory called me 5 mins before so I didn't have to wait out in the cold. Tory quickly opened my car, and I was on my way! More than anything though, I was appreciative of the fact that i was not made to feel like an idiot for locking myself out. I definitely recommend Chicago Locksmith! read more

Yes, these guys are as good as it gets. We had originally bought electronic keypads with installation from Amazon. The Amazon service guy showed up but unable to install the units due to our vintage locks. He promised to come back but cancelled. So we were stuck with inoperable locks and a limited time to install. I called Chicago Locksmiths for their help. I sent pics of the locks to Tory and he knew exactly what to do. Tory and Ken arrived with new locks in a short period of time, installed both locks, tightened our doorknobs, and set both locks to only use one key. They were prompt, polite and cleaned up after themselves. They walked through how to use the keypad and how to program it. The cost was excellent and their work ethic was impressive. Hire these guys! You'll be glad you did. read more

Tory was fantastic. He was on time and gave me a call to let me know he was on his way. The lock on the door leading from my house to my garage broke and it took him less than 5 minutes to fix. He also pointed out some security issues in the garage and gave me some great tips on how to secure that area. Since he was here I also had him look at my French doors leading outside that have always been a little flimsy (they even blew open during a storm once). He made a couple of quick adjustments and it made all the difference! Tory went above and beyond what I expected when I called a locksmith. I feel like I received a home security consultation as well. I will be calling Chicago locksmith again for any future issues and will recommend them to friends and family. Thanks again! read more

I don't often write online reviews, but I actually signed up for Yelp just to do this one. Long story short - this company is well-run and fairly priced. They will come out 24/7/365 and not charge you extra for after-hours service. The company is great, but what really compelled me to write this review is the particular locksmith who was assigned to my job. Richard Calabrese is extremely professional, knowledgeable and highly skilled, not to mention very friendly and willing to do whatever it takes to do the job right and make sure his customers are completely satisfied. Unfortunately, I don't have to tell you that those are extremely rare qualities nowadays. Rich is a true credit to his profession. You would do well to request him if you need a locksmith. read more

This place is simply the best. One of the most amazing experiences I have had as a customer in my entire life. I had broken my mail box key in half and was having trouble getting it replaced. Every locksmith I called said they would not be able to help. Brought my snapped key in and they immediately went to work on getting a replacement. The initial worker was unable to file the key down just right, so they had to call in what appeared to be the "bid dog". Buddy was able to do this his thing and in no time I had myself a brand spaken new key. To top it off they gave if to me free of charge while throwing in a couple 50 cent key chains. Walked outve there happy as a clam. Low key...Hope I have some more locksmith needs soon so I can what these guys work their magic. read more

Gabriel really saved me. After a long road trip, I locked the garage door, leaving the only key inside the garage. Such an awful feeling especially when it's 10:00 at night and one has to be at work the next morning. What a way to start out on Monday morning! Jumped to Yelp and found Gabriel. He was hear within 20 minutes! At the locked door he made a couple of attempts and popped the door right open. He then offered to make extra keys free of additional charges. The entire visit took approximately 20 minutes and he was on his way to his next job. A terrible accident averted, reasonable charge, and extra keys which I certainly needed. Fantastic. He couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. Thank you so much, Gabriel! You're an asset to your company. read more

I was locked out of my apartment and when my building manager did not answer my phone call, I called Chicago Locksmith. A few minutes later, I received notice from my manager that she would be over soon to open my door, so I called and cancelled the locksmith. They were professional, not in a least bit annoyed, and even offered to help if we are in need in the future. Well, I needed their help a lot sooner then expected because my building manager's keys did not work! We called back and Steve from Chicago locksmith arrived within 15 minutes and had my door open within five. He was friendly (even to my super stressed out large dog who wanted to jump all over him) and professional. I would highly recommend Chicago Locksmith. Thank you for your help! read more

I live in a high rise in the loop, and the bottom lock on my door handle became dislodged within the handle mechanism, leaving me locked out. While my building management (FirstService Residential) was anything but helpful, Shawn was a breath of fresh air when he promptly arrived to assist me, as was dispatch when I initially called. Due to the oddity of my situation, he had to resort to some creative tactics to get my door open, all while doing his best minimize as much damage as he could. While working hard to finagle the handle open, he was friendly and easy to talk to which helped pass the time. I will be using Chicago Locksmiths for any of my future lock needs, and I strongly recommend them for yours too! read more

The crew at Chicago Locksmiths was extremely helpful, friendly, and professional. I showed up AS they were locking the door and closing up shop for the day -- with a smile they still accommodated my key cutting request. Melissa was great conversation, super kind, and let me know that if either key didn't work, that they'd replace it for free. Strange times during the Pandemic: The team there set up extra precautions to stay 6+ feet away from you and had extra sanitation steps ready to prevent from spreading any germs. GREATLY appreciated. Note, they have limited hours during the COVID-19 quarantine as mandated by the city - I believe they're closing at 5pm for the time being. Thanks Melissa and the crew! read more

What a team! On a hectic Friday afternoon during rush hour in the loop, I found myself parked on the street desperately needing to move my car by 4 pm to avoid towing. The catch? I couldn't locate my keys - frustration level through the roof! Aaasrghh!!!! Enter these guys--swift and efficient. I called, and Ben arrived promptly, crafting a key for me with remarkable speed and smooth precision. It was a hassle-free experience, and he brought a ray of sunshine to an otherwise rainy, gloomy Friday. While I don't often require locksmith services, if the need arises again, I'm dialing these guys without a second thought. (I'm sure they're all competent, but do yourself a favor and specifically request Ben.) read more

I am new to Chicago and was staying at my brother's place, which I am unfamiliar with. When I went out of the apartment, the door shut, the handle was locked, and I was locked out. He was out of town and already thinks I am an idiot, so I was freaking out. I had no phone, no shoes, no ID, but thankfully a friend with me who could call. Someone was there in 20 minutes--I think the guy's name was Joe--and got my door opened in about 3 minutes. The whole thing cost $105 but was entirely worth it. Another company wanted a fax copy of my brother's driver's license before they would come over. Really, at 2 in the morning? Chicago Locksmith was understanding, helpful, fast, and professional. read more

Setting up the service was a breeze and the technician (Richard) was a true professional. He asked for pictures of the keys & locks in advance (I sent via txt), which made the whole process extremely efficient. He also pointed out a couple issues with the door in general (loose handle, door closer was not functioning) and fixed BOTH for me without me even asking or charging. It's a rarity that find a technician, especially in Chicago, with this sort of top-notch service in mind. I would HIGHLY recommend Chicago Locksmith to others and Richard specifically if you have a choice. I will definitely be using both in the future. read more

Glowing recommendation. Issac came out to re-key my new (old) home. He was prompt, kind, reliable, and did excellent work. He had to re-key and replace a number of old locks and did a perfect job making new things fit old doors (in ways others were not able to do). He also made a lot of suggestions of things I had not considered - ways to save money and improve functionality on the lock options. I took all of his suggestions and am happy I did. He prides himself on doing things perfectly and promptly. Prices were reasonable, service was excellent, and workmanship was perfect. What more could you want? read more
