Chef's Hat is a good place to get good food. They have a hard stop for breakfast at 11 am and then customers have to wait until they switch over to lunch in the kitchen. Limited seating indoors and outdoors; almost the same amount of tables in both areas. Food is ok. Ok flavor and portions. It's an ok place to get basic breakfast and lunch.

Pork belly tacos are fire! Great melding of flavors & fresh veggies. Great spot across from beautiful Green Bay in Ephraim. Cute decor inside for dining indoors & scenic views for outdoor dining. Friendly folks too!

You should call in advance to hold a time, especially during leaf peep season. We waited about 35 min at the small bar until a table opened. In the meantime, we chatted it up with the owner who gave us the scoop on Door County cuisine and recommendation for a supper club. He and his wife keep the cafe open year round with limited hours to keep his loyal staff employed beyond the season. My Alaskan flounder ($26) with Parmesan risotto and a marinated vegetable medley was a very good entree. The flounder was light and expectedly not fishy. My wife enjoyed her pear Gorgonzola salad as an entree. The salad expertly married the flavors and you can add a protein for a slight upcharge. This spot was an excellent choice during our visit.

Food was delicious and our server was fantastic. The food is always consistent. The restaurant also has outdoor seating with a wonderful view of the water.

Turkey BLT with a side of potato salad

My parents and I ended up ordering take out from Chef's Hat two nights in a row during our vacation because there was not many other dinner options in the area within walking distance of our resort. Their take out option is pretty efficient. You call and make the appointment and food is given a 20 minute time line but you can likely pick it up earlier than that. We tried many items during our two meals listed below: -TURKEY BLT: Sandwich has a nice amount of components and the bread was nice; however, it was way too dry. Needs a better amount of sauces if comes with. Additionally, it was sloppily put together so it felt like half of the items were coming out when I picked up the sandwich to take a bite of it. -POTATO SALAD: ok flavor a bit overly acidic though -TOMATO BISQUE: A great soup taste! Simple but robust. Went well with the turkey BLT and helped to make it not taste as dry. --LEMON PEPPER SHEIMP TACO: The tacos were pretty dry as well - not enough sauce on them. The shrimp was well cooked and flavored though. Additionally, the chips they came with were pretty small in quantity and also sadly pretty stale. The small container of salsa on the side was ok and tied it together. --APPETIZER SAMPLER: The olive oil bread points that came with the spinach and artichoke Parmesan was so good in addition to the spinach and artichoke Parmesan itself. The bruschetta was pretty disappointing it had the flavor down but was too summer squash forward instead of tomato. The stuffed shrimp was delicious and well cooked. However, the stuffed peppadews were just ok. Additionally, they liked to over dress the whole dish with microgreens which was really unnecessary. All prices for the dishes are pretty inflated for what you get but I guess that's what happens in a touristy area during peak season. All in all, an average meal option but nothing too impressive.

Had a beautiful breakfast here, when the passing through Ephriam. Staff is all well trained and very helpful, even with help wanted signs on the doorway. Did not seem understaffed. I had a delicious, healthy wrap with fruit and an excellent coffee. Nice flavors and beautiful presentation on the food. Most seats can see the lake. The staff was so helpful recommending people what to do and see in the area. A def stop for us again.

Our party of 4 was seated quickly at the last table available (we didn't have reservations). Drink orders were taken almost immediately and arrived so fast we didn't know how they had time to pour/mix! Food orders were taken right away. The crab cake appetizers were served quickly and were delicious, with lots of crab meat. Salads arrived soon after and were also excellent. We each opted for one of the burgers, and we agreed each one was unique and tasty. None of us thought we'd be able to finish the generous sides of chips...but we "managed". We finished off sharing desserts--both the flourless chocolate cake and key lime pie were perfect. There wasn't a crumb left! Service pace and attentiveness were exactly what I like--there when needed, yet not overly bothersome. Other things we appreciated about Top Deck were the atmosphere--casual and relaxed and not too noisy, despite a full house. The waterside views were so peaceful and the gardens and lawn were works of art.

We selected this place for my birthday breakfast because of the vegan and gluten free menu options available. Upon arrival however, we're quite disappointed to find out the menu online was not what they had available. Thus there was only one option available that was safe for my son. What we did end up ordering was great and fresh. We made adaptations to accommodate our dietary needs and it was still delicious. My final complaint is that our waitress was off putting. It felt like we were doing everything wrong (made reservations that don't matter apparently, looked at the wrong menu online, clarified that a menu item was dairy free, etc.). She was condescending and it was quite uncomfortable to relax and enjoy. Food gets a 4 (would have been a 5 if their menu was more inclusive), service gets a 2. Landing at a 3.

Two of us got Beef Wellington which they are known for. Both of us who ordered this have had it several times in the past at other restaurants. We both started eating it and we looked at each other and realized neither one of us liked the nasty taste of it. We both had a few more bits and tried to like because it cost so much. We both felt kind of sick and it just laid in our stomachs. Our waiter felt bad and talked to the manager who gave us a percentage off but because we gave most our meal back and really were not feeling good we did not want to try anything else. So my son talked to the manager who was not easy to talk to and asked for the two meals to be removed from our bill. He insinuated we were just trying to get a free meal which was not the case. Instead of apologizing for how we felt he would rather accuse us instead of making things right. First time to try this place and will not be going back because of the attitude of the manager. Thank you to the rest of the staff for being so professional and caring.

The place is huge, and has 4 distinct dining areas and a capacity of 400 guests. The 4 areas include the popular and extensive patio area, a lower dining room by their bar, a large upper main dining room, and another upper level dining area (where we sat) with a view of the patio. Corinne was our friendly, attentive, and capable veteran server with 17 years experience here. Wife ordered their breaded grouper with mashed potatoes. It went for $39.95 and included a traditional French onion soup without cheese. I had their queen sized prime rib for $44.95 and it included a cherry spinach salad and rice pilaf. It was a nice medium rare as expected and it was all delicious and filling for both the wife and myself. The dishes were quite good values when considering the portion sizes and the quality of the mains and the sides. I also had a delightful Wisconsin Old Fashioned for a very reasonable $8.25! Apparently they also offer a Wisconsin Old Fashioned with a premium brandy that goes for $13.50, but the $8.25 version was delicious and plenty good enough for me and it packed a punch too btw. It really wasn't that busy for a Saturday night and the food came out readily. It felt like throughout our visit this weekend that vacation traffic was not at expected summer peaks and the pro-tip in theory here is that the first weekend in June is typically not as busy as school has just let out and families aren't in vacation swing just yet. We really enjoyed the quaint and colorful venue along with the good value dinner and I would not hesitate to return except that there are so many other restaurants to try up here!

I ordered the Ahi Tuna Tacos, my husband ordered the Whitefish Tacos, and my friend ordered two appetizers as her meal--the guac and the ceviche. She also ordered a cocktail--I think the margarita (I remember she said she wanted salt). My husband liked his tacos quite a bit, but one odd thing is that the lunches come with either fries or watermelon. As he isn't a watermelon fan, he got the fries, which is the odd thing is having fries with tacos. But as someone who is really picky about her fries, these were very good--fresh and hot. The Ahi Tacos were also very good. For $20, I would've like maybe more than two tacos, but since I ate a lot of his fries, I wasn't starving. And I do realize food prices have not been going down... My friend's guac was fine, but her ceviche was not ceviche. The first time it came out, it was green--it looked exactly like the guac, so she sent it back, explaining that one should be able to see the fish and it shouldn't be green (and she tasted it--whatever it was, it was not ceviche). The second time, it was certainly fish, but it was more like a fish salad, but it did not have the acid in it that one expects in ceviche, as that is what "cooks" the fish. She said it tasted it fine, but just not--yeah, I've said this a bunch--ceviche. Oh, and her cocktail was fine. We will definitely go back next time we're up that way. On a sunny day, it would be gorgeous. Our day was a bit iffy, and we were lucky--we got our bill just as it began to rain, so we were able to duck under the covered bar to settle up, have a brief convo with the bartender, and went downstairs to the Chocolate Chicken to get a piece of chocolate (my husband's and friend's chocolate was fine--I'm a pain in the neck, and I wanted darker chocolate with more pecans!) and wait out the rain.
