    Tuna special with frites

John was a super waiter and also does the amazing playlists for Chives! We loved the music, the food and the ambiance! We both had the tuna special and varied the sides. Fries were yummy as were the grits. Had a great dessert too on John's recommendation. Paradise cake...we will be back!

This was by far our best meal over the long 4th of July weekend while we were in Door County. We were fortunate to get a last minute reservation. The view of the water was only surpassed by the level of detail and service we received. From the ample charcuterie board we created, to the rich and tender beef cheeks. We will definitely be back.

My three girlfriends and I visited Chives on a Saturday evening at 8PM in April (off-season in Door County), and even then, the place was incredibly busy--so definitely make a reservation in advance! First impressions: I loved the dark, moody ambiance. The black and brass décor gives it a chic, cozy vibe that feels both upscale and welcoming. We started with their complimentary bread and chive butter, and it was so good! The bread was warm, fluffy, and tasted freshly made. The chive butter it came with was a pleasant surprise. For dinner, I had the baked French onion soup and a mixed greens salad with grilled chicken and dressing on the side. The soup had great flavor, but it came out scalding hot. I had to wait over 15 minutes before I could really enjoy it, and I burnt my tongue and the roof of my mouth. By the time the soup cooled, my salad had already arrived. The salad was great- the greens were fresh, and the chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. The only downside was the dressing was very acidic. I was glad I got it on the side. One of my friends ordered the same salad with the dressing mixed in and didn't like it as much. Overall, it was a nice place with good food and a buzzing, moody atmosphere. We will definitely be back to try their other menu items.

We were up in door county for our mini-moon so we had to check out Chives. The restaurant itself is so cute and cozy, but also upscale. Our server was very nice and helpful when we had questions. The food was INCREDIBLE. We were so full. Definitely would like to come back and also try their weekend brunch!

My mother-in-law and I booked Chive in Door County two weeks in advance, excited for a cozy dinner -- emphasis on cozy. Instead, we were seated outside at 7 PM... in 50° weather. One brave little heat lamp tried its best, but it was no match. Apparently, indoor seating must be requested ahead of time (wish we'd known!). My poor mother-in-law had to trek to the car for her jacket while I sat there in heels with no socks, sipping tea just to feel alive. Through the window, we watched everyone inside warm and glowing -- like a Hallmark movie we weren't invited to. The silver lining? The food was phenomenal. The filet, French onion soup, and mocktails were flawless, and our server was an absolute gem. I'll definitely return -- just next time, I'm dining inside the snow globe.

I pretty much dream about the apricot wontons on a weekly basis. Fresh food, thoughtfully prepared.

Food was phenomenal - they were able to seat a large group of us. We were seated outside in October - they had outdoor heaters which was greatly appreciated!

Had beef cheeks which was new for this simple palate girl. It was good. Hubby had shrimp and grits and really enjoyed them. Our waitress was Riley and she was a doll! Got to eat on the porch since we didn't have reservations and it was lovely. Heated and quieter than inside. Beautiful friendly place.

We LOVED Chives! It was my first time there, and I celebrated my 35th birthday here. We started with some cocktails - The ol fashioned, sazerac, and vodka cherry cocktail. It was super delicious and delicately balanced. We got escargot and oysters for appetizers, and those were super delicious. The bread service with the herb butter was chef's kisses. Our entrees were very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The ribeye was juicy, the risotto was melt in your mouth, and I stole one too many shrimps from my partner The dessert menu is irresistible - my cherry bounce cake was everything that dreams are made of. Absolutely amazing service and very elegant ambiance. Thank you, Chives, for a special night!

    Scallops with squash

We LOVED this place and actually dined here twice during our quick weekend getaway. We strongly suggest making a reservation but the bar is always first come first served. This place has a dialed in menu. The scallops with butternut squash were perfect for the season. We also split a burger and mixed green salad. All of the entrees come with fresh sourdough (that's honestly perfect) and chive butter that is so addicting - you'll probably want to ask for more! Great beer and wine selection. Friendly and attentive staff. The only thing we didn't try was dessert because we were too stuffed from the food. Maybe next time!

This is the best place for dinner in Door County - all around a really excellent meal. The server we had was super friendly and answered all of the question that our party had about food and drinks and went to check a few things with the bartender even. I had the French onion soup, which was divine, and the table shared chicken and goat cheese wontons which were crispy and rich. I ended up having the duck which was a big portion and absolutely delicious. It was done perfectly and the sauce was an excellent complement. I had a slice of paradise cake to go, and it was also just so good - really nice flavors but also very light so it wasn't overwhelming after a big meal. I included a picture of the tin Celine because I just liked it so much - the inside has quite a vibe but overall it's a cozy place for a nice meal

What a great place to celebrate our honeymoon! Our server John was amazing and so knowledgeable on all the food and preparation of the dishes. We sat outside and they have heaters for the tables so even through the evening it was warm enough. Our food was DELICIOUS! Super fresh, ingredients paired beautifully, I can't recommend it enough.

Highlights 1. Friendly Service 2. Good Food 3. Fun Ambiance Came here with a group of 4 recently and sat outside on the heated patio. This place has serious charm! The inside is warm and cozy and I even spotted a semi-private dining space that looked like it was on the inside of a library. We loved dining on the outside patio and stayed plenty warm even though it was in the 60s. Our server was amazing! He had great recommendations and was super funny and nice. He recommended a great bottle of wine for our table and promptly got our orders in. Sadly, we had overindulged on snacks before coming so we just did some soups, an appetizer and dessert. Food was good! I don't think soup is necessarily their star so I would like to come back and try some entrees. The dessert was a caramel chocolate ball and was delicious as well really pretty (sounds weird but check the pic!) Will 10/10 be back!

Our party of 4 was seated quickly at the last table available (we didn't have reservations). Drink orders were taken almost immediately and arrived so fast we didn't know how they had time to pour/mix! Food orders were taken right away. The crab cake appetizers were served quickly and were delicious, with lots of crab meat. Salads arrived soon after and were also excellent. We each opted for one of the burgers, and we agreed each one was unique and tasty. None of us thought we'd be able to finish the generous sides of chips...but we "managed". We finished off sharing desserts--both the flourless chocolate cake and key lime pie were perfect. There wasn't a crumb left! Service pace and attentiveness were exactly what I like--there when needed, yet not overly bothersome. Other things we appreciated about Top Deck were the atmosphere--casual and relaxed and not too noisy, despite a full house. The waterside views were so peaceful and the gardens and lawn were works of art.

The place is huge, and has 4 distinct dining areas and a capacity of 400 guests. The 4 areas include the popular and extensive patio area, a lower dining room by their bar, a large upper main dining room, and another upper level dining area (where we sat) with a view of the patio. Corinne was our friendly, attentive, and capable veteran server with 17 years experience here. Wife ordered their breaded grouper with mashed potatoes. It went for $39.95 and included a traditional French onion soup without cheese. I had their queen sized prime rib for $44.95 and it included a cherry spinach salad and rice pilaf. It was a nice medium rare as expected and it was all delicious and filling for both the wife and myself. The dishes were quite good values when considering the portion sizes and the quality of the mains and the sides. I also had a delightful Wisconsin Old Fashioned for a very reasonable $8.25! Apparently they also offer a Wisconsin Old Fashioned with a premium brandy that goes for $13.50, but the $8.25 version was delicious and plenty good enough for me and it packed a punch too btw. It really wasn't that busy for a Saturday night and the food came out readily. It felt like throughout our visit this weekend that vacation traffic was not at expected summer peaks and the pro-tip in theory here is that the first weekend in June is typically not as busy as school has just let out and families aren't in vacation swing just yet. We really enjoyed the quaint and colorful venue along with the good value dinner and I would not hesitate to return except that there are so many other restaurants to try up here!
