I love stopping at White Gull Inn for breakfast! They have the best cherry pancakes and great service. I also enjoy their cherry juice & lime seltzer drinks. Next time I stop in, I want to try their famous stuffed French toast! Note before you go: it's usually a 45 minute - 1 1/2 hour wait time for a table during peak season. I went on a Sunday morning in the middle of October during the Egg Harbor Pumpkin Patch event. They were very busy and I waited about an hour and fifteen for a table for two. While we waited, we checked out the water view and stopped in a few boutiques. The host texted us when a table was ready.

    What is a fish boil?

We are in Door County, Wisconsin for the first time ever and we were told we needed to experience a traditional fish boil. Our friends recommended this restaurant in Fish Creek so we made a reservation. Please note that they only do these a few nights a week and many places are closed on Sunday, so plan in advance. You show up 30 minutes prior to your reservation so you can sit outside and watch the boil master prepare your meal. They will put the potatoes down about 20 minutes prior and the fish goes in with 10 minutes remaining. They then add salt and then the final step is kerosene to the fire to get a super hot flame to remove any impurities in the fish. You then return to your assigned table where you will find waiting family style coleslaw and different types of breads as well as melted butter. This particular restaurant has a bar near the outside seating so you can get a drink while you are watching the show. Your hot plate is brought to you with your fish, potatoes and coleslaw. It really is a lot of food and they offered extra at every turn, but what was served was enough for us. As this particular area is known for its tart cherry Harvest, they make the best sour cherry pie I've ever had for dessert. The suggested wine pairing was a Vermintino at $10 a glass. Service was excellent from the many people involved. This was a lot of fun and we are glad we were able to experience this tradition in Door county. Our total bill was approximately $80 before tip. This particular restaurant is located within the White Gull Inn and there is free street parking out front of the hotel

Love this restaurant. Been coming here for years but this was this was the first time coming here after being diagnosed with celiac. The menu doesn't indicate what is GF but the server was very knowledgeable. I ordered a cheese omelette with GF toast and hash browns. Unfortunately the veggie sausage wasn't GF but there were still options I could have. The food and service were amazing as always!

We came here on a weekend evening at 630pm for the fish boil and it was the most excellent experience! We were able to get off the waitlist so I do recommend calling early to reserve your table. You arrive about 30 minutes prior to your reservation time to grab drinks and view the cooking process and hear a bit about the history around this Door County tradition. Then you're seated inside and served immediately. There's bread and a blueberry cake. They do the white fish with tartar sauce and lemon, coleslaw and boiled potatoes. Everything is simple but so fresh and delicious. We ended a great meal with a tart cherry pie topped with a scoop of sweet vanilla ice cream. Basically summer on a plate and just splendid. Our server was fantastic- very attentive to our needs and quickly managing multiple tables. I will 100% return to this fish boil next time.

White Gull Inn does not take reservations for Brunch, so if you are there during a busy time, expect to wait a little while. Our table took about 30 minutes on a Saturday morning in July, so really not bad at all. We were able to browse nearby stores while we waited, and they texted us when the table was ready. It's a historic Inn, so of course it was just as quaint and lovely as you'd expect. I believe we were seated in the original dining room. We did not try the signature blueberry coffee cake due to allergies, but I hear good things. We were offered the last slice around 10AM, so maybe get there early if it is a must try for you. I ordered a tea (they have Earl Grey, lovely), and a breakfast sandwich with hash browns. I was delighted to find vegetarian breakfast sausage on the menu, as veggie anything seems to be hard to find in the area. Everything was delicious, and our server was friendly and attentive. We never felt rushed even though we could tell that they were super busy and probably needed our table right now. Parking can be a challenge, not just for White Gull Inn but for the area in general, so give yourself some time to drive around, and be prepared to walk a bit.

We wanted to brunch at the famous White Gull Inn and, like everyone else on a Sunday morning in Door County, thought it looked absolutely amazing. It was bustling when we arrived, as expected, but we added our names to the waitlist and were quoted about 30 minutes. No problem. We wandered into a few nearby shops to pass the time. Once we got the text, we headed back and were seated indoors, right by the door. Not exactly prime real estate. I had people constantly bumping into my chair, even though it was tucked in as far as it could go. So, not the most relaxing brunch spot, but the charm of the place helped make up for it. I ordered the Door County Cherry pancakes (short stack) with a side of bacon, and a Diet Mountain Dew, because yep, it's a Pepsi place. The pancakes came out hot, fresh, and fluffy, served with real maple syrup on the side. But let's talk about the bacon. I asked for it extra crispy, and I swear it was some of the best bacon I've ever had. I should have asked what kind it was--my bet is cherrywood, simply based on location alone. Our server was kind, attentive, and made sure we were well taken care of despite the morning rush. All in all, it wasn't the most peaceful brunch thanks to the crowd and my unfortunate seat location, but the food was fantastic, the service was great, and the setting was beautiful. Hard to stay grumpy in a place like that.

Came here for the famous fish boil dinner..the experience was cool but wouldn't do it again. The "show" was about 10 mins long and the "cool" part was the big fire and then it was over. The dish itself tasted good but it was hard to eat with all the fish bones you had to dig out before eating it. The baked chicken with rice had good flavor. Dinner came with cherry pie and ice cream, Cole slaw and bread at the table. All in all, It was cool to experience once but personally wouldn't do it again.

We went with the family for a fish boil last month (my first fish boil ever) and we had such a fun time! We were greeted at the front and told to go out back to watch and learn about the history of a fish boil. We then moved inside for the dinner, which consisted of boiled white fish and potatoes (with a giant side of melted butter), coleslaw, and assortment of delicious breads. The tables were set beautifully, the service was top notch, and we even got seconds on food -- all ending with cherry pie and vanilla ice cream. The atmosphere was busy and exciting, and we were all very well taken care of. I highly recommend this experience!

On the inner arm of this Wisconsin's promontory that makes up Green Bay, are several beach and lake resorts. The White Gull Inn in Fish Creek, WI was the site of our first fish boil ever, and we could not have picked a better place to kick-off this once in a lifetime feast. We learned about the history and tradition of a fish boils, which is a Scandinavian-inspired meal of fresh-caught whitefish, potatoes, onions, and corn. It was a captivating experience! There is a large cauldron sitting a top a heap of very hot logs with boiling water bubbling over the sides ready to cook anything thrown into this kiln. The potatoes go in first, then the fish then what turns out to be a bond fire. I loved the whole tradition of this feast and really loved the food. The White Gull Inn was the perfect place to enjoy my first Fish Boil!

Thinking of hanging out at the White Gull Inn for breakfast? Their menu has all sorts of good options if you're a little hungry or very hungry. Looking for something sweet? They have it. Looking for something salty? They have it. Coffee? Of course! But also, hazelnut coffee! Cherry juice is also a nice touch for breakfast if you're having some salty food. The cherry juice hits the spot. You may have a bit of a wait, depending on when you get here. Is it worth it? I'd say so, as we don't leave unsatisfied with the service or the food. Their coffee cakes are really tasty as well, and we're usually in the area for breakfast, as opposed to their lunch menu. Sitting outside is a nice bonus when the weather cooperates. The parking can be quite a challenge, so keep that in mind upon arrival. You may want to drop off a party member first to put your name on the waitlist if that's the case, while the other(s) find a spot. After you're done with the food, take a walk to Sunset Beach Park and enjoy the view for a bit before exploring the other areas of Fish Creek and its neighboring shops!

My review is solely for the breakfast; we didn't stay here and didn't stop in for a fish fry. Having said that, it was ok. I think that like some of the places in Door County it may trade on nostalgia a bit. The menu wasn't extensive, and I ended up with a simple breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, and a pancake because nothing else was interesting; I didn't want to have to ask about substitutions or anything for an omelette. I will say that my mom would have been super happy here because unlike me, French toast is one of her favorite breakfast items and they had several types on offer. They had some raspberry coffee cake so we ordered some of that and my little one loved it. Raspberries are her favorite so it was not unexpected. The service was ok, though not super attentive. We ate outside and it was really enjoyable because the weather was beautiful.

Expect a wait for breakfast during the season. But the wait is worth it. An outside coffee station charges you for a cup while you wait (our wait was 90 min). When we were seated inside, the quaint and cozy dining room had an inviting feel to it. Our server was friendly and helpful and made recommendations when we couldn't decide on what we wanted. We settled on some poached eggs, a short stack of cherry pancakes with thick cut bacon and a half serving of apple French toast. The breakfast was delicious, capped by their maple syrup. The cherry pancakes were tasty ambassadors to Door County's cherry harvest. Same for the apple French toast. The eggs were cooked right to order. The prices were reasonable and at check out we added two bottles of the maple syrup for our trip home.

Fantastic! I've never had a bad meal here. Last time we were lucky enough to be seated next to the fireplace. Super cozy and romantic for a nice weekend away. We always get the cherry stuffed French toast because how could you not. Service is always on top of it. I've never had an empty cup of coffee here! Can't recommend enough

The Inn is right in the bustle of town so its easy to walk for shopping, different restaurants, going to the water (etc) but you never hear any noise inside of our room. The jacuzzi tub -- one of the reasons we booked -- was filthy, clearly not cleaned properly before our stay. We also paid for a horse‑drawn carriage ride, which was canceled due to weather. That part was understandable. What wasn't understandable was the complete lack of communication about the replacement trolley ride being one‑way only. We were dropped off and left to walk back to the B&B in bitter cold temperatures with no warning. Breakfast was another disappointment. What was served tasted reheated and stale, like it had been sitting around far too long. And the truffles we ordered -- which should have been a special touch -- were stored in the laundry room and all tasted like detergent. For the price and reputation, we expected a warm, welcoming, and well‑run experience. Instead, we left cold, frustrated, and extremely let down. We won't be returning.

They have a great location atop a hill on main thoroughfare Highway 42, and a short 5 minute walk away from the heart of Sister Bay's vibrant commercial strip.  They are also a relative good value and get bonus points for having an English theme.  Having had many memorable and pleasant stays in the UK, any place that takes me back is a plus, and this place did that to a degree.   The owner and innkeeper Mike was at the desk when we arrived.  He's my kind of guy - a friendly Brit with a sense of humor.  When I said we had a party of 2 for 1 night, he dryly replied "Oh, but we have you for a party of 1 for 2 nights". As I rolled my eyes, he broke out into a chuckle, ha.  He's a native of Portsmouth, England and has owned and run this nice property for 25 years.  The 2-story property is homey, inn-like and not hotel-like, nicely and quaintly decorated in English style, and has a bar and several cozy sitting areas.  There's a 24 hour complimentary bean grinding coffee machine and the bar works on a self service guest honor system.  A swimming pool is also available in the back for those interested.  The included breakfast is comprised of a large and delicious selection, and their particularly delicious almond Danish pastry was more pie like and quite distinctive.  Each room has a name (ours was #104, the Winchester) and a small patio and it was comfortably laid out.   I really want to give this place 5 stars particularly for its location and value and theme but will have to hold back to 4 stars.   The reasons being that I didn't get a great sleep because 1) the pillows were too spongy and soft for me, 2) the king bed was a bit soft and bouncy, and 3) the wall A/C was quite loud when it kicked on briefly and frequently.    We may be back someday during the quieter heating season and try a different room (i.e., bed) also.  I may also start bringing my own pillows as my pillow complaint is not uncommon and not aimed just at the Inn here.  I really do like this place and the owner.
