Great food great selection, well priced service was excellent and since it was more of a takeout place, I can't say a lot about the ambience, but the ambience was that of a typical Chinese restaurant in read more

Our go to Chinese in the island staff is wonderful food is great love the crab ragoon and dumplings. Mom loves the fried rice great take out

This is the closest Chinese takeout to Tybee island. For the six of us - 80.00 was a great price for various good meals. House egg foo young with house fried rice. Beef low mein, teriyaki chicken with chicken fried rice, chicken Kung Pao chicken, egg rolls, spring rolls, won ton snd a sweet and sour soup. Everyone enjoyed their meals and shared entrees. The pickup person wasn't very personable. Just took payment and handed over food. Maybe because it was 7:30 pm. But they're open to 9:30. The food was good and stayed hot for the 20ish minute trip back to Tybee. Would recommend them for good family take out dinner !!! read more

Chef Wan Chinese Restaurant - Outside - Chinese Near Me - Savannah, Georgia

The food is absolutely disgusting. I ordered chow mein and I couldn't even look at it. It was like a pile of mush. And I asked for refund they refused and said "nothing is wrong with the food"............ I am never going back. Please save your money. Panda Express is way better I might just go there now. read more

If you have any experience with travel around the country to large urban areas where there is lots of diversity or if you have traveled to Asia then I would suggest to avoid this place. Their version of Chinese food is unlike anything I have ever experienced in any part of China or Chinatown around the rest of the USA. The servings are super sweet, over cooked and under flavored. I will not return. read more

Egg drop soup was good. Eggroll was very small. Steamed dumplings... well... practically inedible they were disgusting they couldn't even fully remove all the sausage casings when preparing the dumpling mix how lazy do you have to be? The inner mixture of the dumplings should be soft, these were hard, basically they hacked up sausage and wrapped it up. Uhg. They lose another star for the bad customer service. I walked in and literally stood there for almost 5 minutes while the girl at the counter sat on the phone and she wasn't even talking to anyone, clearly my bag was ready all she had to do was hand it me and couldn't be bothered. read more

Best chinese in the islands. This little restaurant may be small, but it packs a huge menu. My wife and I have been eating here for years, and their quality (and quantity) of food has always been consistently good. My favorite menu item is the curry beef with steamed rice. Perfect blend of beef, onions, green pepper and excellent curry sauce. 2nd favorite is the mushu pork. My wife likes the pepper steak, the jalapeno chicken, and mongolian beef, all with the wonton soup. No matter what you order you will get alot for the buck. Restaurant is conveniently located in the center of Wilmington island. Out of all our experiences we only had one error, and that's when my wife ordered the jalapeno chicken and asked for no mushrooms (because shes allergic to them) and they forgot to take out the mushroom. She called to let them know and they immediate brought her a fresh correct order out to where we were on Tybee. This alone qualifies them for a 5 star. My 5 star rating is based on Food quality Food quantity Food price Customer service Location read more

See all

I am visiting my friend from out of town and we were craving Chinese and reminiscing on our times getting Chinese food from a place back at home. We came here on a whim and to say the least this was the best Chinese food I have ever had. Such a great choice! The service was amazing and above and beyond. Thank you for a yummy meal I will be eager to come back here! read more

***3.5 Stars*** Solid Chinese food in Wilmington Island. Probably some of the best Chinese food I've had in Savannah. So why the 3.5 stars? Mainly for its hole-in-a-wall appearance and also for its prior poor food inspection scores (although they did have a Grade A score on their last inspection). Also, when comparing it to big city Chinese restaurant food, it's just "okay" but good for Savannah standards. Standout dishes for me include: West Lake Soup, Fried Bean Curd (Szechuan style?) and Orange Beef. Their egg rolls and fried dumplings were also pretty decent. Since my family knows the owners, I believe we got some off the menu seafood items which were excellent including a stir fry lobster and some steamed mussels. Overall, decent Chinese food with generous portions at a reasonable costs. Some negatives are the dingy interior and judging from other reviews, their inconsistent delivery service (order pick-up instead). read more

Chef Wan never disappoints! Crab Rangoon, Kung Pao and Lo Mein are our staples. Constantly reliable over the years

One of my favorite Chinese places ever, a hallmark of my hometown that I haven't found anywhere else. Not sure how traditional it is, but I love the egg foo young here--it is creamy, savory, and filling with a plate of rice. Their ribbons of egg in their egg drop soup is velvety and rich with flavor. They always have my order out quickly; I've been coming here for years since my teens. It's a small restaurant with family own air between staff, it's a perfect place to get takeout from. read more

Horrible. I ordered from Uber eats. The shrimp chow mein and sweet and sour pork tastes worst than Panda Express. Very fake tasting and has no flavor. read more

Good food - stick with what you know you like though. Avoid the curry chicken, it's all heat and no flavor, so zero stars for that, otherwise, decent Chinese food. FYI, We've only ever ordered takeout from the place. read more

We use this restaurant frequently, House Lo Mein and Crab Rangoon are my personal favorites. Inexpensive and tasty Chinese food.

Best Chinese restaurant in Savannah, hands down! I love their West Lake Soup and Chef Wan Beef. They have the best fried rice too. I'm trying to eat there as frequently as possible before we move away from the islands. read more

This is my go-to Chinese takeout place. It is pretty standard, yummy Chinese food. The restaurant is mainly a takeout spot, but there is a small dining room area as well. I probably wouldn't choose to eat inside, but that is just my preference. I usually order the sesame chicken, which is very flavorful. On my most recent visit, my boyfriend ordered the Hunan shrimp. They were served with the tails on and not a whole lot to them. He wasn't a huge fan, but he loves their General Tso's chicken. We also love their dumplings! I'm sure we will be back again soon. read more

Ordered the "Dinner for 3" and it was SO much food. Three different entrees, came with soups, rices, sides, and lots of sauce options. The food was steaming hot when it was delivered and it was all so well seasoned! Four of us are tonight and there is plenty for us to eat again tomorrow. Great selection of dishes, amazing taste, and the ability to have it delivered made this place our top choice! Will order again soon! You have to try it. read more

Best Chinese take-out around. Love the general Tao chicken and egg drop soup. We'll price and hot to go

This is my pick for Chinese takeout on Wilmington Island. It is, I assume, the standard for Chinese food in America. As another reviewer has said before, the restaurant is mainly a takeout spot, but there is a small dining room area as well. It is not an atmosphere I want to stay and have a dinner in because it doesn't really have an atmosphere per se. To me it feels more like McDonalds on the inside. A sort of get your food and go type of vibe. I always order the same basic thing from any Chinese take out where ever I am because, even though I would not know a proper Chinese food dish if it were to smack me on the side of my head, I know what I like in this style. General Tso's chicken, pork fried rice, Teriyaki chicken sticks and pork egg rolls. I have ordered take out from here more then 20 times and have not been disappointed yet. I have been disappointed multiple times from the other places on the island. I admittedly don't know Chinese food from mud pie, but I know what I like, how I expect it to taste, and how much it should cost and Chef Wan's fits the bill. read more

Very good food! Will most definitely be back. We had soup, dumplings, egg rolls and a couple of entrees and were not disappointed... at all.

Did an Internet order on grub notice they charge a $10 delivery fee so did not include a tip because we did not include a tip they cancel that order don't waste your time with them read more

We have given this restaurant several tries and the food taste and quality just keeps getting worse and the staff is so rude. If you place an order for delivery, you may or may not get it. Time to find another chinese restaurant to order from! read more

Good food only disappointment is it's take out only. The portions are large and cooked well

I order from here at least once a month. The food is delivered hot (not warm) and is always delicious.

Friday evening dinner small area to eat. The service was slow due to a party dining in. Order egg rolls-crispy a bit too "Porky" for me. Hot n Sour soup spicy w flavorful broth ample tofu and mushrooms, surprisingly there was cilantro in it. So entrees eggplant w fried tofu in a brown sauce very sweet and delicious. House lo mein was also done well barbecue pork excellent. Atmosphere lacking maybe take away would be more appealing. I will We visited again on Monday evening for dinner. We started w an egg roll which was better then our previous visit. We tried a house special soup and boy it was tasty almost creamy with an egg drop base, the shrimp was sweet and cooked prefect. Next crab Rangoon w a hint of chive. Our entrees were Orange Beef I will describe it as "meat candy". Yes thinly sliced pieces w a light coating (could it just be corn starch?) in a orange sauce w dried red pepper pods. Oh so good. Next roast pork w vegetables. The pork is tender sweet no evidence of fat or connective tissue. The brown sauce is not heavy or overpower and the vegetables are cut big enough to taste them. My only disappointment is the amount of rice that comes w the entree's it's just too small. The option of fried rice was too salty. Being in the area for 2 more months this will be my go to Chinese restaurant. read more

Chef Wan is one of those places that one says, it's the best we got. Food is decent. Service for take out is ok. They are stingy on Fortune Cookies and chop sticks. We've not eaten in and would like to try that to experience it. read more

We love Chef Wan's! The hot and sour soup is the BEST! Lo mein and general tso's are our favorites!

Really great restrant. Small but very cool. Excellent broccoli shrimp. Has a neat fishtank for the kids. Chef Wan has won multiple trophies for great food. Four stars.. read more

The only redeeming quality is that the food is ok. But we order every Sunday for dinner with our parents, and they literally NEVER have our order correct when we arrive. And then they are pretty rude when we ask if everything is in the order. Be ready to check any and every online order - and be prepared for them to not have it. And then be nasty about it. So, I think we are switching restaurants. Yummy House is going to get a chance with us. read more

If I'm going to have Chinese you can bet that I get it from Chef Wan! I've never been disappointed with the food or the service. My niece worked there for awhile and told us how clean the kitchen is kept. Of course I want Chinese SOOO bad on Tuesday (same way you want ChicFIlA every Sunday). The only thing I can complain about is the lack of consistency with how much toppings you actually get with your order. I think there needs to be a better training path because you might order 3 of the exact same thing and every single one is different. I used to eat Chipotle at least 2 times a week. I know that the management has changed AND it's very obvious. The store was almost empty and someone really needed to clean up the store. I'm giving them 2.5 read more

Attempted calling the restaurant today to place an order for pick-up, and was met with this voice mail message: "Thanks for calling Chef Wan's. We will be closed all day July 4th, have a great day.". I'm writing this review on July 11th... I thought I traveled back in time for a second LOL. But seriously, they should change that. Causing a lot of confusion. *Update* Re-dialed the number and was met with a friendly greeting from a woman on the phone. She took my name down, my phone number, and my order. I then told her about the voice mail I received from dialing previously, and she was thankful and seemed confused as to why as well. I am looking forward to seeing how the food tastes. This is my first time eating here. *Update v.2* Returning to the restaurant. I ordered the sesame chicken meal with fried rice. The portions were spot on, the fried rice tasted very good and had decent amounts of vegetables and chicken. I thoroughly enjoyed the taste from the previous time which is why I am visiting again. The taste is how I expect ft sesame chicken to taste, will recommend. read more

Greeted by a heavy-set woman in a pink sweat outfit who was, um, quite rough around the edges and rude. I ordered a meal for my wife and family online, came in 15 minutes later and she gave me this big excuse that the food wasn't ready and that I "just placed it". I came in merely to wait patiently yet she reacted with an unfriendly attitude for some reason. Another regular guest came in and she lit up with big smiles . I feel that this restaurant could use a far better front-end customer service person. Food was good. Hope this helps. update: I spoke with the owner's daughter - she was much friendlier and sincere, I appreciated this a lot, and we'll give them a try again. read more

Great place for Chinese takeout or delivery. I love their sesame chicken and house fried rice. They have tables inside but I've never seen anyone but the employees sitting at them. Their service is quick and friendly. They also have online ordering that is very easy. read more

Food = good Time to get food = bad I live literally a block away, and it took an hour from when I placed the order until delivery. They also don't open on Saturday until 4:30. Maybe I'm the only one that feels this way, but I don't plan a day in advance about ordering chinese. If I want it, I want it soon. The food is good enough, so as long as you order BEFORE you're hungry you should do alright (unless it's Saturday, apparently). read more

Best Chinese food we have had since moving to Savannah. The Mongolian Beef is the best thing on the menu. Only 3 stars because I have had Chinese food in Arizona and California that was truly 4 & 5 star. But as far as Savannah is concerned, this is #1. read more

Waited almost an hour and a half for our delivery, which they forgot about. We called to check on our order, which luckily served as a reminder. Our food arrived hot and the portion sizes are large, although the food is very expensive. We ordered two specials. The fried rice was terrible! Ordered wonton soup and couldn't make it past a single bite. Even the crisps for the soup were stale and unpleasant. I've never wanted to trash my Chinese leftovers before tonight.. read more

I would go probably 3 here. The general tso's is about average (maybe slightly above). The fried rice is good, but not great. I didn't care for their hot and sour soup. Just didn't really like it. I bump them up because it's relatively cheap, I found the service to be friendly, and they have a healthy food section on the menu which is incredibly rare for a Chinese spot. I would come back here. read more
