This is the closest Chinese takeout to Tybee island. For the six of us - 80.00 was a great price for various good meals. House egg foo young with house fried rice. Beef low mein, teriyaki chicken with chicken fried rice, chicken Kung Pao chicken, egg rolls, spring rolls, won ton snd a sweet and sour soup. Everyone enjoyed their meals and shared entrees. The pickup person wasn't very personable. Just took payment and handed over food. Maybe because it was 7:30 pm. But they're open to 9:30. The food was good and stayed hot for the 20ish minute trip back to Tybee. Would recommend them for good family take out dinner !!! read more

Steamed dumplings... well... practically inedible they were disgusting they couldn't even fully remove all the sausage casings when preparing the dumpling mix how lazy do you have to be? The inner mixture of the dumplings should be soft, these were hard, basically they hacked up sausage and wrapped it up. Uhg. They lose another star for the bad customer service. Best chinese in the islands. This little restaurant may be small, but it packs a huge menu. My wife and I have been eating here for years, and their quality (and quantity) of food has always been consistently good. My favorite menu item is the curry beef with steamed rice. Perfect blend of beef, onions, green pepper and excellent curry sauce. 2nd favorite is the mushu pork. My wife likes the pepper steak, the jalapeno chicken, and mongolian beef, all with the wonton soup. No matter what you order you will get alot for the buck. Restaurant is conveniently located in the center of Wilmington island. Out of all our experiences we only had one error, and that's when my wife ordered the jalapeno chicken and asked for no mushrooms (because shes allergic to them) and they forgot to take out the mushroom. She called to let them know and they immediate brought her a fresh correct order out to where we were on Tybee. This alone qualifies them for a 5 star. ***3.5 Stars*** Solid Chinese food in Wilmington Island. Probably some of the best Chinese food I've had in Savannah. So why the 3.5 stars? Mainly for its hole-in-a-wall appearance and also for its prior poor food inspection scores (although they did have a Grade A score on their last inspection). Also, when comparing it to big city Chinese restaurant food, it's just "okay" but good for Savannah standards. Standout dishes for me include: West Lake Soup, Fried Bean Curd (Szechuan style?) and Orange Beef. Their egg rolls and fried dumplings were also pretty decent. Since my family knows the owners, I believe we got some off the menu seafood items which were excellent including a stir fry lobster and some steamed mussels. Overall, decent Chinese food with generous portions at a reasonable costs. One of my favorite Chinese places ever, a hallmark of my hometown that I haven't found anywhere else. Not sure how traditional it is, but I love the egg foo young here--it is creamy, savory, and filling with a plate of rice. Their ribbons of egg in their egg drop soup is velvety and rich with flavor. This is my go-to Chinese takeout place. It is pretty standard, yummy Chinese food. The restaurant is mainly a takeout spot, but there is a small dining room area as well. I probably wouldn't choose to eat inside, but that is just my preference. I usually order the sesame chicken, which is very flavorful. On my most recent visit, my boyfriend ordered the Hunan shrimp. They were served with the tails on and not a whole lot to them. He wasn't a huge fan, but he loves their General Tso's chicken. We also love their dumplings! This is my pick for Chinese takeout on Wilmington Island. It is, I assume, the standard for Chinese food in America. As another reviewer has said before, the restaurant is mainly a takeout spot, but there is a small dining room area as well. It is not an atmosphere I want to stay and have a dinner in because it doesn't really have an atmosphere per se. To me it feels more like McDonalds on the inside. A sort of get your food and go type of vibe. I always order the same basic thing from any Chinese take out where ever I am because, even though I would not know a proper Chinese food dish if it were to smack me on the side of my head, I know what I like in this style. General Tso's chicken, pork fried rice, Teriyaki chicken sticks and pork egg rolls. I have ordered take out from here more then 20 times and have not been disappointed yet. I have been disappointed multiple times from the other places on the island. I admittedly don't know Chinese food from mud pie, but I know what I like, how I expect it to taste, and how much it should cost and Chef Wan's fits the bill. read more

Friday evening dinner small area to eat. The service was slow due to a party dining in. Order egg rolls-crispy a bit too "Porky" for me. Hot n Sour soup spicy w flavorful broth ample tofu and mushrooms, surprisingly there was cilantro in it. So entrees eggplant w fried tofu in a brown sauce very sweet and delicious. House lo mein was also done well barbecue pork excellent. Atmosphere lacking maybe take away would be more appealing. I will We visited again on Monday evening for dinner. We started w an egg roll which was better then our previous visit. We tried a house special soup and boy it was tasty almost creamy with an egg drop base, the shrimp was sweet and cooked prefect. Next crab Rangoon w a hint of chive. Our entrees were Orange Beef I will describe it as "meat candy". Yes thinly sliced pieces w a light coating (could it just be corn starch?) in a orange sauce w dried red pepper pods. Oh so good. Next roast pork w vegetables. The pork is tender sweet no evidence of fat or connective tissue. The brown sauce is not heavy or overpower and the vegetables are cut big enough to taste them. My only disappointment is the amount of rice that comes w the entree's it's just too small. The option of fried rice was too salty. Being in the area for 2 more months this will be my go to Chinese restaurant. read more

The only redeeming quality is that the food is ok. But we order every Sunday for dinner with our parents, and they literally NEVER have our order correct when we arrive. And then they are pretty rude when we ask if everything is in the order. Be ready to check any and every online order - and be prepared for them to not have it. And then be nasty about it. If I'm going to have Chinese you can bet that I get it from Chef Wan! I've never been disappointed with the food or the service. My niece worked there for awhile and told us how clean the kitchen is kept. Of course I want Chinese SOOO bad on Tuesday (same way you want ChicFIlA every Sunday). The only thing I can complain about is the lack of consistency with how much toppings you actually get with your order. I think there needs to be a better training path because you might order 3 of the exact same thing and every single one is different. I used to eat Chipotle at least 2 times a week. Greeted by a heavy-set woman in a pink sweat outfit who was, um, quite rough around the edges and rude. I ordered a meal for my wife and family online, came in 15 minutes later and she gave me this big excuse that the food wasn't ready and that I "just placed it". I came in merely to wait patiently yet she reacted with an unfriendly attitude for some reason. Another regular guest came in and she lit up with big smiles . I feel that this restaurant could use a far better front-end customer service person. Food was good. Maybe I'm the only one that feels this way, but I don't plan a day in advance about ordering chinese. If I want it, I want it soon. I would go probably 3 here. The general tso's is about average (maybe slightly above). The fried rice is good, but not great. I didn't care for their hot and sour soup. Just didn't really like it. I bump them up because it's relatively cheap, I found the service to be friendly, and they have a healthy food section on the menu which is incredibly rare for a Chinese spot.
