I had heard from my friends about their fried chicken so we got some hot wings ! They were good but nothing out of the world.

We have ordered from New Ming Garden over a year. I'll be honest I'm from Manhattan I had the best Asian food in the western world I was sad I couldn't find what I was used too On a whim I tried New Ming Garden. They are a little " take out place ". WOW their food is. Beyond great. I'm a dumpling fanatic. Theirs are delicious !! Every dish I've tried I loved . A few weeks ago a friend of mine wanted. Good Asian food. I don't know this area ( Savannah ) well. But I remembered where New Ming. Gardens was. I suggested we go there to pick up an order. They people who work there are so nice .. And they are fast ! I have a stomach of steel. I can count the amount of times I have ever gotten sick from eating out on one hand, and I eat from food stalls in countries all around the world. This one took me down. I was pretty excited; I got there 30 mins before closing to pick up my food (I was in the area and my usual Chinese takeout was closed) and there were about 15 people there also getting food.. this was a good sign. I got beef po mein and shrimp and broccoli. It's definitely the worst lo mein I have ever had I don't know what kind of noodle they used or how they made it state like pure pasty starch but I ended up just picking the meat and few veggies out to eat. Even hot sauce couldn't save that. The shrimp and broccoli was average. The price of everything was good. The aftermath was terrible. I definitely would not recommend. read more

I tried a shrimp egg roll. It is deep fried, very crunchy, doughy, salty, and the shrimp is barely discernible. Egg Roll King remains on top in this category. However, I would absolutely try something else here! The menu is diverse, and the staff friendly. read more

If you travel to and from downtown Savannah via Montgomery Street, you have probably seen this small take-out only dining establishment one block north of Victory Boulevard. Someone always appears to waiting for food, so I decided to stop by for lunch and check the place out. I ordered lemon pepper wings and fried rice. The staff was friendly, kitchen area appeared clean and lunch was quickly prepared. The meal is about what I expected. The chicken was crispy and seasoned well. The rice did not stick together but could have used some salt and pepper. Not great tasting food but far from tasting bad, Ming Garden fits the bill if you want to fill your stomach during the day or late evening. read more

Great food!!!! We did delivery through Grubhub and it got to the house very hot. That was surprisingly fabulous. We ordered a lot of food, 3 entrees and two appetizers. The fried dumplings were perfectly cooked. This would have been a 5 star rating but unfortunately they forgot our shrimp egg roll. They did correct it by refunding the cost of the roll. I'm sure the next time will be 5 stars. We will definitely be ordering here again very soon. read more

Went here for takeout. For $8something I can't complain much. They serve allot. The Place: They dont have a sit down and eat, its take out only. They are following covid precautions and everyone waits outside after your order. They call you in. The food: The sesame chicken was a little cold. I bet they just reheated a batch they had done but it was still pretty good. The fried rice tasted good even though I've had better ones that include carrot, peas and scrambled eggs. I'm in town for business and I had a serious craving for Kung Pao Chicken. After reading the reviews I decided to give this place a try. I didn't ask for onions in my rice, yet there's a ton of them. Way too many veggies in the chicken. More veggies than chicken. I'm disappointed to say the least. The top pic is all the veggies and the bottom is the actual entree. I also order Chicken Fried Rice. The rice wasn't bad, but the chicken in the rice wasn't great. I wish I'd ordered from somewhere else. :( read more

I'm a person who loves deals, saying that to say this, I wanted to try Ming Garden and I noticed that they offered a lunch special for 4.95 so I ordered 4 meals totaling over 24.00. When I mentioned that online there is a menu from their establishment with false advertising. I ended up going to GREEN TEA ON WATERS AVE and was pleasantly impressed to get FIVE meals totaling CLOSE TO 23.00!!! Worst Chinese food ever! Not edible! Tried it after reading some positive reviews but not sure what the good reviewers ate. I had Mandarin lo menu which had a few carrots & onions mixed w/starchy linguini noodles. Chicken curry was soy sauce & a tablespoon of crushed red peppers, Carrots, onions, and a few snow peas w/a couple pieces of chicken. But after taking one bite of the chicken was not really sure it was chicken so didn't eat it anyway. Basically stuck w/the white steamed rice and threw the rest away. The restaurant is pretty run-down and yes, in not the very best spot on Montgomery (though I hesitate to say it's "sketchy" either because there are streets about a block over quickly becoming quite nice and people in this neighborhood in general are nice). The interior is seriously tiny and totally take-out only--not even a single paltry table where to sit and eat. Despite what Autumn F. stated, I found the menu to actually be more limited than many quick Chinese places I like in Florida but it still has pretty standard menu items. They cannot easily make anything without MSG: I asked and the lady was very puzzled but also totally honest with me and said no, the sauces are pre-made and have MSG in most so she could not easily circumvent MSG however she was able to prepare for me a chicken with broccoli in a white sauce without MSG. I appreciated her effort and the food was pretty good though the rice was soggy. I cannot honestly give them five or even four stars, because I've simply had far better New York style quick Chinese take-away, but I can say they're nice people and are aiming for quality here. I think if you come here you'll be content if not fully pleased, you'll still be ok with the service and quality for the price (which is a steal, really). read more

DO NOT ORDER ONLINE FROM THIS RESTAURANT. After 45 minutes of waiting, we received our delivery order only to find out it was totally wrong. We called Grubhub but they said we had to sort it out at the restaurant. When we called the restaurant, we kept getting hung up on so that the issue could be sorted out by a manager, who kept dodging our calls. By the time they found our order, there were no drivers available. We had to drive 30 minutes one way to pick up our cold food. I've always heard it said that the hole-in-the-wall places are the best, & Ming Garden definitely proves this! This tiny, tucked away Chinese take-out place definitely gives you the most for your money. They have a large selection on their menu, and are very quick to get you your order. It is take-out only, but even if you don't order ahead, you'll only have to wait about ten minutes rather than the usual 20-30! We've been there a few times and have ordered the Sesame Chicken (favorite!), General Tsao's, Honey chicken, BBq Beef, & Mongolian beef. There were no selections that we didn't like! They also have all kinds of fried rice in addition to white rice- Shrimp, Chicken, Pork & Mandarin (a mix of all three). The portions are HUGE! We tend to order an extra serving so we'll have leftovers, but neither of us could finish our one serving, so ended up with TONS of leftovers (no complaining here!). I would say that for my husband and I, two orders (costing only $13) would be enough for 2-3 meals apiece. Ridiculously large portions at ridiculously small prices= win-win! The staff is friendly- one time when we were there right in the middle of a busy lunch hour, they ran out of white rice. They were making more, but were profusely apologetic that it might take an extra ten minutes. They offered us any kind of fried rice at no extra charge, but I opted to wait as I prefer white rice myself. It turned out to be only about 5 extra minutes, making the total wait time 15 minutes from order to food in hand. I would still say that was a short time to wait, especially during lunch hour! The only small issue is that I've had better Mongolian beef. I like it a little sweeter & stickier; this was not heavily flavorful, but as I said, it was still decent. Mongolian beef is one flavor that tends to vary dramatically from place-to-place, so I enjoy trying the different flavors of the same food, and this was good, but not one I would go for again. I also wish they did have room to eat in, but as long as you know ahead of time that it's only a take-out restaurant, you can be prepared. When we went for the first time, we didn't know it wasn't dine in, but we ended up going to nearby Forsythe Park as it was a beautiful day, so it turned out for the best! If you're looking for some great takeout Chinese food with large portions at low cost, definitely try Ming Garden! read more

I live in South Carolina, right across Talmadge Bridge and this is the only place I've found in the area from Savannah to Beaufort that makes the gravy for the Egg Fu Yung the way I like it. This alone will make me come back consistently. My only problem is that they dont put peas and carrots in their fried rice which is the only way i can get my kids to eat their vegetables. The best takeout Chinese in Savannah. I only have had the tofu and shrimp dishes so I can't speak for the meat but everything I've had is always tasty. Generous portions and always served and cooked consistently. The staff is SO NICE and the front desk lady knows my order as soon as I walk in she is the light of my weekend! Very quick if you are in a rush 10-20 min if you call ahead, I usually do this on my way home from work and it is ready to go. Great on ubereats because it's quick too. This is definitely my favorite Chinese takeout place in town. I UberEats food from here more than I would like to admit. The honey chicken, crab Rangoon's, and Chinese donuts are some of my favorite items. The chicken soup is also SO GOOD...especially if you're feeling under the weather or it's a chilly night. I love that you can add eggs to your fried rice- they always taste so rich and buttery! I recently decided to go vegetarian and have switched to ordering the sesame tofu.
