Hmmmm...I chose this spot Bc it had good ratings and decent pics. Confession, my eyes show up to eat before anything else. Im gonna skip the inside decor and parking, cuz honestly this spot doesn't advertise to be the Taj Mahal. This is takeout spot, in every sense. Stopped by recently on the way down to Florida, and the food is still as good as I remembered. The hot & sour soup and egg drop soup are still my favorite. The owner was really friendly and we struck up a conversation. Will definitely be back to try more on the way back up. read more

The overall quality of the food was subpar at best. Definitely not a bunch of quality ingredients used for their food. The egg drop soup was very good! But... The sesame chicken was soggy and very little chicken pieces in the sesame chicken. Didn't taste like sesame chicken at all. More like sweet and sour chicken. It was garbage really! The shrimp fried rice had tiny almost cocktail shrimp in the dish and worst part is they were super mushy. The shrimp were just like one of the pictures on Yelp...super small. I wanted to do them a solid and give honest feedback on the quality of their food. And the gentleman who answered the phone could care less about my feedback. When I called the restaurant his only response was " ummmm ok" followed by silence. Zero customer service follow up. You can see why they haven't claimed their Yelp profile as of yet. I've been here twice and each time there's been something about the food that just wasn't right. Each time I've ordered the fried chicken it wasn't completely fried. There were still wet, doughy, mushy spots of breading on the chicken and I was unable to finish eating them. The crab Rangoon's are frozen and then fried and still do not taste well. We had takeout from here last night. The chicken dishes were very good. Chicken and broccoli and chicken with mixed veggies - yum! The orange beef was inedible. Very fatty, tough meat drowned in an overly sweet sauce. The beef pepper steak could have been good- if the beef was better. It was mostly fat- and again, tough. Wow. Some of the worst Chinese takeout we have had. Ordered General Tso's Chicken and 2 Shrimp Egg Rolls as a last minute dinner choice and all the regrets came while eating. The chicken was flavorless, mushy, and greasy. It looked like all those horrible recipes about making cauliflower into buffalo chicken bites. Rice was bland and mush too (how can anyone mess up rice?). The egg rolls were super greasy and not crispy. We couldn't even finish eating and I promptly threw it away cause it couldn't even be salvaged as next day leftovers. Would not recommend and I'm puzzled about the rating. This was nightmare! We just moved to the area away from our favorite Chinese takeout place and compromised because of the nearly 5-star rating this place had. This tiny eatery is huge on taste, service, and selection! The portions are huge, and an entree selection will easily feed 2 - 4 hungry folks. Vegetables were fresh and recognizable, the shrimp in the Szechuan shrimp were large & flavorable, and the sauces were a perfect consistency & taste. My order was placed with ease, was hot & ready when I arrived, and packed up securely for the ride home. The young ladies covering the counter were friendly and efficient - and they smiled genuinely, thanking me for my business. The food at New china is good, service is even better. I placed a pickup order for a Curry chicken barely 25 minutes before closing time, and reached the restaurant barely 1 minute before they closed. The portion size was huge and price is extremely affordable for that serving size. It was very easy to place an order and I got a hot, hearty meal which wasn't very greasy like some other places I have had in the past. Plenty of chicken, stir fried veggies and a huge side of rice. The ladies at the counter are very friendly and are truly delighted to serve you. We just moved to the area from up north, and maybe this is the best Pooler can do, but I'm shocked at all the 5 star reviews. Everything was greasy and flavorless. We tried lo mein, general tso's chicken, vegetables in garlic sauce, egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken, and fried rice. It all had no flavor at all-- everything just tasted of re-used burnt oil. We threw everything out (something we never ever do) because it was just that inedible. I started to feel sick after the first few bites too.
