The food is great here but the parking can be difficult. There are parallel parking spots on the side of the building if needed. Be careful because you cannot drive to the back of the building, that is the Starbucks drive through and there is no way out unless you want to order coffee and wait for it so be careful not to get trapped. They accommodated a large group I had once with ease, split checks easily and everyone enjoyed the food. Today I got a chicken doner wrap which was delicious but a little messy because while it comes wrapped in paper, the ends of the wrap bread are not tucked in well. I'll be back though for more of their yummy dishes.
The food is soooo good. Everything so tasty. The tea was perfection and the hot sauce they bring out with the bread could go on so many things. Spicy but the perfect spice.
After visiting Turkey last winter, the desire to find a local and authentic Turkish restaurant has recently been on my mind. Chef's Table was our choice and it deserved a Chef's kiss. The eggplant starter was a good way to fire up our tastebuds. For entrees, I went with the Mixed Gill for one and wifey added the Iskender Kabob, which we just ended up pushing to the middle of the table to share. The combination of spiced meats and vegetables was delicious and worth the try. The Yelp pictures show a full on bakery, however this is misleading because the extensive selections are actually at the restaurant owner's other place, La Cafe, and not here. So we passed on dessert and opted to drive another 10 minutes away to Baklava Bakery for a wider selection of choices. The inside of the restaurant is a bit small and modest, but comfortable enough to enjoy a hearty meal.
The food here is amazing and SOO flavorful! We got the lamb chops for around $30 which comes with 4 lamb chops, rice, and a salad. Definitely a bit more expensive than I would have preferred. We had 2 orders of the lamb chops and we noticed that some pieces were just wayyyy smaller than others. I don't think $30 is justiced for 4 small, uneven pieces but they did taste really good and cooked well. The hummus was also really good, and fresh. One of the better house made hummuses I've had. It only came with the hummus so we had to ask for more bread with the hummus. There was only 1 server when we went and all the tables were full so service was really really slow. I did like the interior decor of the resteraunt, it felt very calm and relaxing. Overall, the food was really good but way too expensive. It was nearly $100 for 2 of us.
LOCATION: Super pretty, well-decorated spot in an unassuming location very close to 410. The place is not very big, but feels comfortably intimate with a nice vibe. Service was great with very friendly people. FOOD: Starting with the bread and ezme dip is perfect. It was delicious for a free starter. Slightly spicy, exceedingly savory, and a good richness with the olive oil. Mains that my wife and I had were both delicious. The Turkish bread they use for the pides is just phenomenal. You can eat it by itself, but the cheese and meat just take it to another level. The lamb shish was also so good. Meat was not very gamey and was just CRAZY tender. Salad was mot bad either, but the meat stole the show. Plus, good portions allowed my wife to have leftovers which were so good the next day. 100% recommend Chef's Table. We are excited to go back and try more stuff
Our server, Talha, was fantastic and took the time to walk us through the menu and break down the options, which we really appreciated. The complimentary homemade bread and dipping sauce were amazing to start. We tried the Chicken Döner Pide (their specialty pizza). A must-try! & the chicken Tava (stew) was so incredibly flavorful. I took leftovers of the chicken Tava home and was literally dreaming about it later... it was that good. This is definitely my new go-to spot in town!
Had high hopes but this place falls short. Dont order through seamless like I did. They don't use them anymore and when you get there they don't even know you ordered and have to wait while they make it. Food didn't have much flavor to me. For the price I'd expect my socks to be knocked off. Unfortunately not worth it to me. At least I can say I tried it. Can you?
We really enjoyed our dinner here. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with beautiful Turkish lamps and a relaxed, friendly vibe. The staff were so kind and attentive, making the experience even better. I ordered the veggie casserole, which was a perfect vegan option -- hearty, flavorful, and full of fresh vegetables. My husband had the mixed grill for one along with the baba ghanoush, and everything was cooked perfectly with great smoky flavor. The warm bread that comes to the table is incredible and pairs beautifully with the dips. Reservations are definitely a good idea during peak hours (like Friday night) because it fills up quickly. Overall, delicious food, great service, and such a welcoming atmosphere. We'll absolutely be back!
Well, what a delightful treat! San Antonio finally has an authentic Mediterranean restaurant that's good! The food was super fresh and came out piping hot. Every dish was packed with flavor including my friend's dish, chicken tava. I really enjoyed their Babaganoush with the deliciously hot bread that came with it. So yummy it has my mouth watering as I type this. Service was excellent. Attentive and prompt. Highly recommend checking this place out.
It's was okay. My favorite thing was probably the complimentary bread and dip. Service was good. The had some beautiful light fixtures.
Nice clean cozy restaurant. With limited seating, and delicious clean food. They are able to accommodate larger parties as well. When we arrived a large family was seated and this did not cause a delay in our order. This was my first time trying Turkish food, the combination of flavors were paired so well together. The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive. My only disappointment was canned and bottled drinks.

If you find yourself wondering whether to take a meal in at the Chef's Table, well, wonder no more. They're working for every star they earn, with dishes that in some cases take hours, if not a full day to prepare. And they don't skimp here. You get what you pay for, and more. On top of that, the service is both attentive and sincere. So, what are you waiting for? Hop off that fence of indecision and hop on over. Just be prepared to be wowed! read more
I'm typically loath to review a place until I've visited a minimum of three times, but I'll make an exception in the case of Chef's Table Turkish Mediterranean Grill, a clumsily named newcomer (well, relative newcomer) to San Antonio's increasingly diverse restaurant scene. Pan-Mediterranean joints are ubiquitous throughout town, but Turkish-specific cuisine is frustratingly difficult to find. When I heard that such a place existed across the street from Nadler's Bakery (my stomping grounds), I jumped for joy like a giddy, kebab-deprived schoolboy and took the plunge. What followed was one of the best meals I've had in recent memory. Owner/chef Ibrahim Karabiyik informed me that he opened Chef's Table because he couldn't find a worthy, authentic Turkish restaurant in San Antonio. Having never visited Turkey, I am diffident in what constitutes "authenticity" (a word that usually belongs in quotation marks), but I appreciated the attention to detail that began with the decor (check out those Ottoman chandeliers!) and extended to every morsel of food I devoured that evening. I began with the mixed appetizer plate, which allowed me to choose four smaller-portioned cold items from the menu. Though I selected muammara as one of my choices, the kitchen inadvertently gave me hummus. When I brought this to the attention of my server, she apologized and brought me a full serving of muammara (a $7 value) on the house! All five appetizers ranked among the best I've had at any Turkish or pan-Mediterranean restaurant in town. At lesser restaurants, the humble dolma is often a mushy, forgettable affair, but these retained their form with perfectly cooked al dente rice. The hummus was a nuanced medley of chickpeas, lemon juice, and tahini with a texture not too creamy, not too thick. Karabiyik's iteration of lebni (the cool, thick strained yogurt dip) benefitted from the unexpected textural contrast of diced walnuts. The star of the first course, however, went to the muammara, a dish worthy of the innumerable superlatives I bestowed upon it that evening. Every component of this dish (piquancy from roasted peppers, pungency from garlic, acidity from lemon juice, body from bread crumbs, sweet-sour notes from pomegranate sauce, texture from the walnuts) worked in tandem and left me wanting more. I scooped up every morsel of muammara and the other dips with the yeasty, crusty Turkish bread that my server continued bringing to my table. Whole bronzini (the plural of "branzino") have become increasingly difficult to find on menus as of late, so I appreciated that Chef's Table offered one. Karabiyik's branzino ("levrek" in Turkish) benefitted from a light marinade of lemon juice, saffron, and olive oil. The doner grill imparted a subtle smokiness to the fish and a crisp, flavorful char to the skin. The flesh was buttery and flaked away from the bones with minimal effort. The accompanying rice (baldo) was plump and buttery and sopped up the delicious juices from the fish. Much love went into the salad, a mix of arugula, tomatoes, raw red onion, grilled peppers, and a crave-worthy dressing of olive oil, lemon juice, pomegranate sauce, and za'atar. Note: one Yelper claimed erroneously in her review that patrons must call ahead to order the branzino. Dessert options include staples like baklava and rice pudding, but my server suggested I try a dish unfamiliar to me, "kazandibi," a custard-like treat that she compared favorably to flan. This, too, was excellent. The texture was smooth and creamy like the beloved Mexican dessert, but the top third of the dish bore an intensely caramelized flavor that reminded me of crème brûlée. I'm not sure if the kazandibi was a special of the day or a new addition to the menu, but I would definitely order it again. By now -- assuming you've read this review and not just blindly voted "UFC" (tsk-tsk!) -- you indubitably sense my enthusiasm for this place. I was so impressed that I considered returning the following night...but then I had a sudden, ravenous craving for pizza. I plan to return once a week until I try every item on the menu, including what appears to be a phenomenal Iskender kebab and a mixed grill "for two" that my tapeworm and I will enjoy. Please come here and support this small business helmed by an incredibly talented, passionate Turkish fellow. Just go on a night I'm not there and please don't bring your screaming, man-eating "It's Alive!" babies. Seriously, the tyke sitting with its parents that night sounded like the mutated infant from that movie. Horrible, just horrible. read more

This place a def a hole in the wall as it's exterior does not match the nice interior! The place does not have many tables so plan your dinner time accordingly as we got there around 5 but noticed it getting packed later in the evening. The food to me was alright. The doner pida was probably my favorite as it was so unique. The grilled plate was honestly mid. The steak was so chewyyy I had to spit some of it out. The service is mid I found myself having to wave down the waiters often. read more

According to my friends (including folks who are native to Turkey) Chef's Table has the best Mediterranean food in San Antonio, and they are probably right. We wanted to sample lots of flavors, so my partner and I split the mixed grill for two. It's a beautiful presentation and full of delicious flavors, from the salad to the grilled tomatoes and sweet peppers, to the hearty scoop of rice, and the meats, including kofte (balls of ground meat), chicken kebab, lamb kebab, and a pile of gyro meat, and yogurt sauce for dipping. The interior has nice touches like mosaic lanterns and canvas prints of landmarks in Turkey. I'm looking forward to bringing more friends here to experience delicious Mediterranean food. read more

This is now my restaurant in rotation! I can't say enough about the ambiance, the freshness of the food, the attentiveness of the food presentation, the care from staff...all around #1 restaurant for Mediterranean food in San Antonio! read more
At a glance, the name "Chef's Table" doesn't sound like anything special and doesn't really clue you in as to the type of cuisine, so let me tell you that in an unassuming little strip mall hiding behind the name "Chef's Table" is probably the best Turkish/Mediterranean restaurant in San Antonio. Quaint, small, beautifully decorated, and reminiscent of a Turkish bazaar sort of style, the food and service we had on our first visit were nothing short of fantastic. Absolutely delicious. It was our first time, so we decided to try an assortment of dishes to find hits and discover any potential misses. Everything was a big hit! Tried some apps (Cacik and little phyllo cheese borek rolls) and went all in for a mixed grill for two. A basket of the best Turkish pide flatbread and a spicy red pepper dip was brought to the table and we couldn't get enough! Our mixed grill consisted of kofte, two types of döner, two types of shish, grilled veggies, rice and salad on a large platter. So much food and so delicious. This could easily feed more than two, and went HUNGRY! Of note, their website says it includes lamb chops but there were none on the platter. Maybe the website needs to be updated, maybe they forgot the chops, but it was still delicious. We finished with some pistachio baklava and Turkish coffee- the perfect ending. * if you haven't had Turkish coffee, here's a little warning- it's like unfiltered espresso. Coffee grounds settle at the bottom of your tiny cup so be sure to sip carefully towards the end or you'll end up with a mouthful of coffee "mud"! haha Our waiter (and I'm not sure how he spells it, sorry) Gorkan was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and funny. The place is small and narrow. If you're planning a group larger than 4, I would highly recommend calling ahead to reserve since tables and space are limited. Chef's Table is a bit of a drive for us. Often in my reviews, I might note that even though a place was good, it isn't something we'd go out of our way for. Not the case here. We'll totally go out of our way for this one! Can't wait to go back! read more

The food is always so fresh here. The service is always fantastic. The lighting and interior design is nice inside as well. I ordered a chicken kebab with just rice. It usually comes with a salad as well. This is one of my favorite restaurants to come to in the area. The hummus is served with lots of fresh veggies and pita and it's so good! I bring my clients and coworkers here when I'm in the area. read more

I came here for lunch with my friend and was completely blown away by how amazing and delicious everything was! She got the lamb and I got the chicken but these portions sizes are so huge we could have shared! I'm glad we ordered a couple different items because we got to taste a little bit of everything. Literally everything we ate was perfection! read more

If you want Turkish food, look no further! The Chef's Table was AMAZING!!! Small restaurant located in a little shopping plaza. When you walk in the restaurant it is cozy and quaint and is decorated really nice with authentic items from Turkey. The owners are Turkish and extremely nice and down to earth. We ordered the long cheese pide (which is a must) and the lamb chops and kabobs. One word - AUTHENTIC!!!!! Both grilled to perfection and tasted amazing. I really enjoyed our visit and definitely plan on returning in the future. read more

Not a place I would like to take any one to eat. Very highly priced restaurant with insipid food. We are a usually a fan of Mediterranean food. Kabachi Grill and Dallah are always a go to places for us with our being disappointed. We wanted to try this place for a change. We reserved a table. It's not a big place. We were a group of 6 adults with 1 infant. We wanted a different table but the person who was there said that table was reserved and they closed the restaurant with us leaving and no one occupied that bigger table. Lamb was ok, lentil soup bland, veggie pida was ok, the bread was cold, chicken shawarma was not good, chicken pieces was ok. They did not have fries in stock. Basically no sides. We usually appreciate small businesses but not this time. Veggie Casserole was a disaster. Service - 1/5 Ambiance - 3.5/5 Price - 1/5 Food - 2/5 Cleanliness- 4/5 read more

This is a great Mediterranean Restaurant. I've gone with co-workers during lunch time, and they all loved it. You can't go on with the Lamb Gyros, but the other food in the restaurant looks great. Will definitely recommend it to anyone looking for Mediterranean Food. read more

A very good Turkish restaurant! Chairs we're nice and comfy. It was empty when we arrived in a weekday. The server was really nice and gave us extra yummy bread when we ate all the ones served. Ordered the mixed grill for one, veggie pide, and the braised lambshank. Everything was delicious! The pide is like a really good cheesy bread with vegetables! The mixed grill was good overall. The chicken was very tender and flavorful. The inky thing that threw me off was the kebabs. I think it was tough but not sure if it's suppose to be like that. The lambshank was tender fall off the bone yummy! We liked the rice that went with it. It's a nice change from our usual asian rice. Our little kiddo loved everything she tried and asked if we could come back sometime. We got the baklava to go and it was pretty good too. read more

I ordered iskender kebap, the taste and texture was really good i mean the quality and the way of cooking exactly same as in Turkey an compete Turkish restaurants. I think one of the best Iskender i ate in Us. Ambianca reminds me the Cemberlitas or Grand Bazaar, they played Turkish contemporary music which is nice. Even plates came from Turkey that was really nice! read more
