I added this to my list after seeing its outstanding reviews on Google and Yelp in case we had spare time on our business trip, being in San Antonio from Tampa - we had that extra time and ended up here and it's great that we did. I called ahead of time asking if they had availability for 6 guests at around 6 PM and they said that it shouldn't be a problem, but they can't guarantee that we'd be seated right away... sold! We arrived and while the set up the table, Charlene welcomed us to hang out at the bar. We were then greeted by Ben, who we came to find out was one of the owners of the restaurant. He spoke with us briefly as our table was being set up, welcoming us in. Within 3 minutes of coming in, they set up a table for us in the corner of the restaurant and had us seated. The place is small (not tiny) and even on a Wednesday at 6 PM, it was clearly a popular spot... we would continue to find out why that was the case. Forgive me, as I cannot remember our waitresses' name, but she was great. She handed us our menus and let us be as we needed a moment to make our decisions. The front of the menu tells the humble story of how the restaurant came to be - definitely worth a read while you are waiting. Our waitress came back and took our drink and food orders. At the same time, I asked if she could have Ben come over as we wanted to hear more about his story after reading the brief story on the front of the menu. He came over and talked to us for ~5 minutes telling us about how he ended up in the States after leaving his home and how the restaurant came to be - from that alone, my experience had already been elevated and I was even more excited for the remainder of the experience to come. The drinks arrived, followed by the food, which we ordered (mostly) solely on Ben's recommendations. Everything looked delicious and as we were told by Ben, it was all fresh, purchased that day from the market and cooked to order. We started with the fried mozzarella, which was unique to me, in that it had no marinara but instead, spicy honey and sesame seeds and was fried in beef tallow - it was great. I ordered the Chicken Parm, which had fresh mozzarella poured into it at the table - the mozzarella smelled (and tasted) AMAZING. The dish has select bites throughout it that had some spice to it - I'd say that the spice level was about a 3/10, coming from someone who doesn't have the highest spice tolerance. The flavor/satisfaction level? 10/10. Typically, I'm not a dessert guy, but because of how good the experience was up to this point, I had to indulge. I ordered the crème brûlée and was not disappointed. Good temperature, good, mild flavor and presentation. This experience was excellent. From the unsuspecting setting, the greeting, the noise level in the restaurant, the attentiveness of the servers, the presentation and flavor of the food, to the staff asking how everything was and holding the door for us as we left, this is an exemplary example of how hospitality/service should be done. Our food came out super fast, probably within 5 minutes, and multiple employees checked on us throughout our meal to make sure everything was good and asked us to let them know if there were any issues. My wife and I stepped out for a dinner date as usual. I saw this place and great ratings so I decided to try it out. Upon arrival I realized I worked right behind this place for 1 year and never knew about it. When we walked in they were very busy. This was a great sign for me to know others like the food. They will call you when ready. We where called about 15 minutes into out wait and sat. The waitress came over and greeted us with waters and we purchased a bottle of wine (they did not have a bottle that they have in their online menu but we were able to find a back up). We ordered food and where brought bread with oil and herbs. My wife ordered the lamb chops that came with mashed potatoes and cream spinach. I ordered the lasagna . The Lamb chops were cooked medium as ordered but they lacked flavor as well as the potatoes . She had to add salt and pepper to the dish . Stopped in for a solo lunch a few weekends ago and really enjoyed it. I was greeted right away and seated where I could take in the space. It's small and cozy, reminded me of those quaint spots in Philly or NYC. Staff was attentive and everything moved with ease. They start you with fresh bread and a rich olive oil herb dip. I know I have a new favorite restaurant in town when I stop in not once, not twice, but THREE times in a single month. That was during the month of February after watching an Instagram reel a user posted of the cheesy deliciousness that is the Pollo Bronx Parmigiana entree. I absolutely HAD to try it after seeing the long trail of melted cheese that gets drizzled over the dish. I love everything about this unassuming spot located in a strip mall off Babcock Rd. From its cozy interior and expertly decorated space to the absolutely delicious food and to the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. I can't speak highly enough of Mare e Monte. The food obviously is the true showstopper here and what brought me back so many times after raving about it to multiple friend groups. Hands down my favorite (and again what first brought me in) is the Pollo Bronx Parmigiana dish. All of the flavors of this dish combine together to create something truly incredible for the taste buds and it's definitely a cheese lover's paradise the spicy red pepper jam that they use on the dish really puts the dish over. the edge and gives it a nice pop. The freshly baked (and complimentary) sourdough bread service is also amazing. Make sure you don't let it go to waste like you might at other spots. If the Pollo Bronx Parmigiana perhaps isn't your style, the Pollo e Monte entree is another delicious option. Again another dish that's full of flavor and the duck fat potatoes were soooo good. We took our family to Marie Monte for an early Valentine's Sunday lunch, and from the moment we arrived, it felt special. Walking up to the restaurant, the cute exterior with a giant bow and Valentine's décor immediately set the mood. The moment we stepped inside, it felt like we had been transported to another world. The kind of place where every detail is designed to make you feel welcome. We arrived around 11:30 AM, and it honestly felt like the entire staff was standing at the front door just for us. The larger-than-life greeting was incredible. The front-end manager even personally welcomed my mother, saying something along the lines of, "welcome home. I want our restaurant to feel like home." That personal touch set the tone for the entire experience. Service: Our server was excellent--attentive, friendly, and thoughtful. Suggestions were spot-on, and all our water glasses were always more than 3/4 full, which is a small detail that really shows attention to guests. The waiter brought us fantastic fresh bread with olive oil dipping right when we sat down. The wine selection was very good. We couldn't decide on one of the dishes, so our waiter brought out a sample of the sauce for us to try. He also brought us fresh bread halfway through our meal. My friend got the Sole Oregenata with spinach and asparagus risotto. I tried the Spicy Rigatoni and added a meatball. This dish comes with crumbled veal on top, but it was no problem to leave the veal off. Both dishes were so delicious! The tshirts some of the staff wore said "welcome home". You had me after that first bite, or at least that is what I told the friendly manager when asked how our meal was coming along. Since the meat on a lamb chop is so thin, it takes a skilled chef to prepare it medium rare properly and to not overwhelm the flavor with seasoning. These chops were done so perfectly, that I will be thinking of them for a while, well after I go home tonight. Wifey had the Bronx Pollo Parmigiana, and it may quite frankly rank near the top of my all time favorite chicken encounters. Top 3 for sure. The vodka sauce with melted mozzarella was something special and unlike any combination of liquor and cheese I've ever tasted. I can only imagine how the chef came up with that recipe. Add in the calamari with the spicy marinara sauce for a starter and this evening was heading towards an epic birthday celebration. Super cute little hole in the wall place. We actually wanted BBQ from next door but they were closed, so we walked next door instead. The salads were good, Caesar wasn't anything special; but the caprese was delicious. With fresh burrata. The Bronx pollo Parmesan was a bit much.. the cheese sauce on top was just too much for me. I say it's good to try once, but wouldn't get it again. The breading on the chicken kept falling off and was really soggy. The stuffed peppers were different, but yummy. Wow. Just wow. We've seen amazing reviews on Facebook and social media... but they don't even come close to the actual hospitality and generosity of this place. Prince is one of the most welcoming and caring owners we've ever met. He greeted us at the door, made us feel so special, and checked in throughout the night. Our waiter, Joe, was incredible -- attentive, friendly, and full of fantastic recommendations for both wine and food. The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and truly feels like home. You can tell that so many guests come back again and again -- and the staff remembers them by name, welcoming them like family. We are so glad we chose to celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary here. What a perfect way to start another year together. read more

Came to Mare e Monte last week for a celebratory dinner. I heard about this restaurant through social media and I was intrigued! First impressions were a 10/10. The owner held the door open for me as I walked in and the welcome was warm! Though the restaurant was busy we were seated immediately. The restaurant is gorgeous, lighting that sets the mood, an olive tree in the middle of the restaurant, and a moon with a soft glow against the back wall. I believe our waiter's name was Javier and he was so kind and patient! He had no problem answering any of our questions and he was very attentive. The owner came by our table and let us know his top picks and came to see how we were doing. There was definitely a "welcome to our family" kind of vibe that I loved! We started with the Calamari and it was amazing. I ended up ordering something I saw on their TikTok which was the 'Sole Oreganata' and y'all please believe me when I tell you this was so good! There are definitely some different dishes I would like to try next time but this dish will be added to my rotation! And for dessert we got the blueberry cheesecake which was the cherry on top of this celebratory dinner. I adore cheesecake and I would come back to this restaurant just for the dessert! Mare e Monte did make my celebratory dinner feel special so I will most definitely be back, special occasion or not! We had a party of 7 so we had a good wait of 45 min. This spot doesn't take reservations so expect to wait. The vibe is definitely different inside than what I was expecting outside . It's bright and cheerful inside with colorful paintings. We went Easter weekend and the menu was abbreviated which was not expected. A bit disappointed but we stayed since we waited so long. Three of us had the fish with spinach one Added on the shrimp , one no add on and one the scallops. We ordered the lamb chops dinner lamb cooked well and generous sized chops . You can also add on lamb if you want additional. One person had the chicken Parmesan which comes with fettuccine Alfredo and a melted tableside cheese pour. All in all food was good.
