It was a 45 min to an hour wait, but we waited in the car and they texted us when our table was ready. Once we were seated, the service was great! Our food came out super fast, probably within 5 minutes, and multiple employees checked on us throughout our meal to make sure everything was good and asked us to let them know if there were any issues. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo. The flavor was good, but unfortunately it was more warm than hot, and I personally prefer my pasta to be served hotter. I didn't send it back, even though they were very attentive and encouraged us to speak up if anything was wrong. Overall, we had a good experience and I really appreciated how friendly and attentive everyone was.
Even if you come on a random weekday evening, this place is slammed, and for good reason! The service here is top notch. Although the service feels like fine dining, the restaurant has a very neighborhood casual vibe. There are plenty of servers and they are very professional and courteous. The food is delicious! It has authentic Italian flavor but with other European influences that make it unique. The quality of ingredients is very good and everything is cooked perfectly. They don't take reservations so be prepared for a small wait.
Definitely adding to my list of go to's. From start to finish, the service was great. We were able to be seated right away but did not it got busier the later it got. I requested the pasta al Nero be made without the spicyness and although I'm sure it changes the flavor, it was delicious! The pollo parmigiana does get spicy but all the flavors mix well and complement each other. Overall a good spot to dine!
My wife and I stepped out for a dinner date as usual. I saw this place and great ratings so I decided to try it out. Upon arrival I realized I worked right behind this place for 1 year and never knew about it. When we walked in they were very busy. This was a great sign for me to know others like the food. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table as they do not take reservations and it was full. They do not have anywhere to wait inside. You have to sit in chairs outside the door or in your car. They will call you when ready. We where called about 15 minutes into out wait and sat. The waitress came over and greeted us with waters and we purchased a bottle of wine (they did not have a bottle that they have in their online menu but we were able to find a back up). We ordered food and where brought bread with oil and herbs. My wife ordered the lamb chops that came with mashed potatoes and cream spinach. I ordered the lasagna . The Lamb chops were cooked medium as ordered but they lacked flavor as well as the potatoes . She had to add salt and pepper to the dish . Really doesn't take to cooked food as it does hen you cook with seasoning. The lasagna was pretty tasty I must stay and not to heavy. Paired very well with the wine we had . The outside does not do the inside justice. Very nice place. Affordable food and wine. Just a tad of Tony's or a heavier spice blend on the meat . I may come bs k one day if in the area. Service was excellent I must say ! Met the GM as well.
Host is pleasant, we came Sunday night and was told the wait time is 1 hour. Host said come on Tuesday or Wednesday it's more quiet. We did come on Wednesday and was able to get seated right away. We ordered pasta Al Nero, chicken parmigiana, veal portobello, crab ravioli, in addition to calamari fritters and artichoke. I think the food is okay, not exceptional. The veal portobello didn't have any portobello, just button mushrooms and potato fried in butter fat. The canolli had a hard shell and the filling didn't quite taste like what I usually accustomed to, especially if you compare it to the canolli in NY or SF. Owner came out to greet all the tables, that was nice. All waiters/waitresses are very professional. But I will try diff Italian food while visiting San Antonio. Good thing we didn't wait for an hour on Sunday
Stopped in for a solo lunch a few weekends ago and really enjoyed it. I was greeted right away and seated where I could take in the space. It's small and cozy, reminded me of those quaint spots in Philly or NYC. Staff was attentive and everything moved with ease. They start you with fresh bread and a rich olive oil herb dip. I ordered the Pollo Bronx Parmigiana and it was indulgent in the best way. Golden crusted chicken, vodka sauce, melted mozzarella, over rigatoni Alfredo with broccolini. They bring out hot cheese and drizzle it over the top which takes it to another level. There was also this subtle jalapeño vinegar flavor that balanced the cream and tomato really well. Not spicy, just enough to cut through the richness. And of course, I LOVED their wine selection. I went with a Montepulciano and it paired perfectly. This isn't a corner pizzeria, so expect those kinds of prices (more like a sit down, reservation kind of place). I'll definitely be back with my husband and friends.
I set out on Sunday for brunch but it was an epic fail. As I expected, everything was full with lines waiting. I decided to grab lunch instead and found this place. The ambiance was nice. It's not a very big space but spacious enough. About half of the tables were occupied. I glanced at the menu before coming in so I knew what I wanted. I ordered the veal piccata. I'm not a connoisseur of an Italian food but I have my favorites. I am also limited on what I can eat and how much. So no pasta,for now, no matter how much I adore it. I found the meal good. It was spot on what I'm use to. The service was exceptional. I took probably 90% to go (I hope they didn't think I didn't like the food) because of my restrictions but I enjoyed the leftovers later.
I had reas and heard amazing things about Mare e Monte and they not only met every single compliment, but exceeded them! Greeted at the diir, seated immediately. Water and fabulous bread and oil were out quickly. Mihaela took amazing care of me. The entire staff works together. Envision 5 staffers stripping and resetting a table in seconds, pure magic. Amazing appetizer of caprese, not your standard tomato slices but a very light cubed mefley of melon. A absolute taste of summer! Entree was the amazing lamb chop with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I order lamb often and I have to admit these lamb lollipops were the very best. Saved room for a partial order of house made canolli ( will share the rest with my hubby, if he is lucky). The beautifully plated appearance was second only to the dreamy creamy filling. Best advice, find a reason to check out Mare e Monte, even if it is not close by. Bringing friends here next week.
First time here and did not disappoint. We started off with the Uvalde Fried Mozzarella. I am not a honey fan but I could not get enough. Sodas are in cans, so you pay for each one. I had the fettuccine di Parma and added chicken. You can tell everything is made fresh to order because it came out steaming. The sauce was nice and light, but be ready to take the plate home for left overs because it is a generous portion. The place is a decent size, but definitely smaller than I was expecting. It was a nice, quiet afternoon when we went. The owner (maybe manager?) came by to check on us and talk with us. There's parking in the front and the back, which is nice because from the front side it looks like there isn't enough. You can go in through the front or back as well.
I know I have a new favorite restaurant in town when I stop in not once, not twice, but THREE times in a single month. That was during the month of February after watching an Instagram reel a user posted of the cheesy deliciousness that is the Pollo Bronx Parmigiana entree. I absolutely HAD to try it after seeing the long trail of melted cheese that gets drizzled over the dish. I love everything about this unassuming spot located in a strip mall off Babcock Rd. From its cozy interior and expertly decorated space to the absolutely delicious food and to the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. I can't speak highly enough of Mare e Monte. The food obviously is the true showstopper here and what brought me back so many times after raving about it to multiple friend groups. Hands down my favorite (and again what first brought me in) is the Pollo Bronx Parmigiana dish. All of the flavors of this dish combine together to create something truly incredible for the taste buds and it's definitely a cheese lover's paradise the spicy red pepper jam that they use on the dish really puts the dish over. the edge and gives it a nice pop. The freshly baked (and complimentary) sourdough bread service is also amazing. Make sure you don't let it go to waste like you might at other spots. If the Pollo Bronx Parmigiana perhaps isn't your style, the Pollo e Monte entree is another delicious option. Again another dish that's full of flavor and the duck fat potatoes were soooo good. I predict I'll be back for my next visit very soon and so should you!
We took our family to Marie Monte for an early Valentine's Sunday lunch, and from the moment we arrived, it felt special. Walking up to the restaurant, the cute exterior with a giant bow and Valentine's décor immediately set the mood. The moment we stepped inside, it felt like we had been transported to another world. The kind of place where every detail is designed to make you feel welcome. We arrived around 11:30 AM, and it honestly felt like the entire staff was standing at the front door just for us. The larger-than-life greeting was incredible. The front-end manager even personally welcomed my mother, saying something along the lines of, "welcome home. I want our restaurant to feel like home." That personal touch set the tone for the entire experience. Service: Our server was excellent--attentive, friendly, and thoughtful. Suggestions were spot-on, and all our water glasses were always more than 3/4 full, which is a small detail that really shows attention to guests. Food: Our table of four ordered: * Shrimp Adriatic (appetizer) * Chicken Caesar Salad * Sole with shrimp * Crispy Chicken Piccata * Chicken Parmesan * Tiramisu * Biscoff Cheesecake The Shrimp Adriatic was unanimously a favorite with rich, flavorful, and the sauce was perfect for dipping bread into every last bit. The Caesar salad was simple but perfectly dressed. The crispy chicken piccata was really good and the sauce-to-pasta ratio was excellent. The sole was fresh and received two thumbs up. The chicken Parmesan was a show stopper with an entertaining cheese slide. But the desserts stole the show: the tiramisu had the most balanced espresso flavor we have ever had and the Biscoff cheesecake was light, fluffy, and just sweet enough without being overwhelming. Overall, the food was very good, but the ambiance, service, and staff made this afternoon lunch a truly memorable experience. Ambiance: It's easy to see why this is considered a date-night destination. The décor, the thoughtful touches, and the warm energy from the staff made the restaurant feel special and welcoming. The front house manager even checked in with my parents individually, which made us feel genuinely cared for. Sometimes Seniors get over looked and it was a heartfelt touch. Bill: $140.73 for four people, including appetizers, entrees, and dessert. Worth it for the experience. Final Takeaways: * Perfect for celebrations or a special date * Excellent service and staff attentiveness * Ambiance and décor elevate the meal, even if the food isn't mind-blowing * Shrimp Adriatic and desserts are must-tries Would we go back? Oh! My! Goodness...so unexpected. My daughter had googled and googled to find great Italian in SAT and this restaurant kept coming to the top. We pulled up and it was a strip mall so, again, I was like meh. However, we sat down to an amazing wine list and menu. This is a family run restaurant straight out of Italy. Homemade goodness and the service is incredible! I will absolutely be back every time I am in town, visiting from Colorado!
Wowwww! I wish I could give them 10 stars! The experience was above and beyond any expectations...they are in a strip center, but when you step inside, it's decorated super cute and just bursting with personality. We walked up to the door and were greeted by Prince, one of the owners. He opened the door and shook our hands and said welcome home. In fact, he stopped by our table twice during our visit. He made it a point to stop at every table. It was a not holiday Saturday around 430 and almost every table was filled. I think we got the last one and then there were people waiting outside the entire time we were there. The waiter came and took care of us promptly and warmly. He was on point the entire meal. The waiter brought us fantastic fresh bread with olive oil dipping right when we sat down. The wine selection was very good. We couldn't decide on one of the dishes, so our waiter brought out a sample of the sauce for us to try. He also brought us fresh bread halfway through our meal. My friend got the Sole Oregenata with spinach and asparagus risotto. I tried the Spicy Rigatoni and added a meatball. This dish comes with crumbled veal on top, but it was no problem to leave the veal off. Both dishes were so delicious! The tshirts some of the staff wore said "welcome home". Very, very warm and each person seemed genuinely happy we were there and no one seemed rushed, despite them being slammed. The owners are the picture of how to give the guests a wonderful experience from start to finish. Well done! Can't wait to go back!

This place is located in a strip mall. The parking appears to be sufficient. If you arrive during a busy time, go in and put your name down. They use Yelp to manage their waitlist, and in the mean time, see if you can snag a seat outside and peruse through the cookbooks that they have available. There are some interesting ones. Once you are called inside, go forth, and be seated at the table they assigned you. You'll be offered after and bread, and you'll look through their menu. We opted for: Carciofi al Tartufo -- grilled artichokes with prosciutto, mozzarella, olives, and some white truffle oil. It came as a three set. However, one of the artichokes was inadequately prepared (e.g. the tough fibrous portion was still very present), so presented an unpleasant eating experience. Also, while the combination worked, sorta, the flavor was overall uninspiring. Ravioli Mare e Monte -- lobster ravioli? Don't get lobster ravioli from here. Lacking in flavor and in lobster filling. The meatball was very nice though. Gnocchi Bolognese -- gnocchi had a good soft texture, but the bolognese needs some salt control. This was a salty dish. A burrata is always fun, as are the extra meatballs. Too bad we didn't order meatballs. Their meatballs are quite good. We were here on Mother's Day. So the place was loud and busy. But the decor was nice. And the cookbooks outside are a nice touch. The chef (or one of the chefs) saw us and a few other guests off, and did apologize for the longer time it took for the food to come out. Since all the dishes we ordered had problems with their preparation and execution, including a long delay, I unfortunately cannot provide a middling review to this place. read more

Amazing!!! "Welcome home" is what they say and it's exactly how you're treated when dining here. Wait staff is friendly and welcoming from the hostess to the servers and the owner walking around with his greetings and blessings for all who dine. Waitlist is available to join here on Yelp! Parking in front and back-it's usually crowded but you can enter the restaurant from both ends. We've visited twice now for a family New Year's Eve dinner. Delightful!! Crowds are bumping and this place isn't the largest. It's a lovely and cozy atmosphere, but keep that in mind for larger parties. Warm bread to start with fresh and delicious olive oil w/spices for the table. Calamari has not disappointed! The Arrabiatta sauce is flavorful and so delicious. Cesar salad-delish! So far, favorite dishes include: the brox pollo parmigiana. Omg!!! Get it and don't look back!! The mozzarella cheese pour over your plate is EVERYTHING!! Lamb chops, fettuccine Alfredo, pasta cooked perfectly!!! We've only had room for dessert once so far & the blueberry chef did its job! Great food, great service, great atmosphere! My boyfriend found this spot for a date for both us. I'm a huge Italian food fan, so I was very excited to try this place. We came for lunch on a Sunday around noon and got seated immediately. It's a cute restaurant with a handful of tables. It has such a cozy and intimate vibe. Our waitress Melaniaa (rhymes with lasagna as she told us) was super warm and friendly to us. She immediately brought us with waters and complimentary bread with oil. Being first timers, she gave us her personal appetizer recommendations and from there we ordered the calamari arrabbiata and a Caesar salad. I thought the salad was absolutely fantastic. The dressing was super delicious and I only wish that topped it with more croutons. My boyfriend really enjoyed the calamari. He said it had a nice crunch to it and the sauce had a slight kick to it. For entrees, I ordered the chicken parm and my boyfriend got the fettuccine. I had no idea that they come by with a hot pan of melted cheese and pour it all over the chicken parm. Boy was it super delicious! They had some spicy peppers to it- which in my opinion could've been spicier. As much as I love cheese, it definitely felt like too much on the chicken and overpowered everything else. It also comes with brocollini and mine only had 1 piece. I would've liked more of that. It was such a huge portion that could've easily been split between 2 people. We got appetizers so that filled us up quickly and took most of it to go. This is definitely a pricier spot to go to. Woooow, I had such a great meal here! I ordered the Orecchiette di Terra which our waitress informed us was their signature pasta dish, and it was so fresh and flavorful. It was also a unique dish and the goat cheese added an excellent touch. The service was great! We were seated quickly because it was a week night, but be aware that they do not accept reservations, so there may be a wait. The restaurant is super cute and they had decor up for Valentine's Day which was a sweet touch. I will definitely make my way back here! read more

This past Saturday, we visited @mareemonte for lunch. It was nice to see Prince welcoming all the guests as usual. Aram was our server, who cared for us from start to finish. Dad had the Lasagne al Forno. He seemed to enjoy it, though it was tough for him to finish by himself. I tried the Orecchiette Di Terra with spicy sausage and thick tomato sauce. Yum! I also had to take my leftovers home. Hubby had the Sole Oregenata, which I've had before. He finished every single bite. We were full and had no room for dessert. Prince was kind enough to send 2 desserts home with us (Cheesecake with blueberries and Tiramisu). I've been rationing the desserts and slowly enjoying them. Thank you, Prince! To celebrate our wedding anniversary, my wife and I decided to pay a visit to Mare e Monte for dinner. I got on the waitlist via this app, so it wasn't too long of a wait. The place was packed, but at the same time it is a somewhat small space. We were greeted by the owner, who was very welcoming. Made us feel like we had gone to his house for dinner. We were provided bread and oil as soon as we were seated. The bread was amazing, and the oil had a nice flavor to it. After checking out the menu for a minute, I ordered the spicy rigatoni with a meatball. I enjoyed the sauce so much, especially with the bread. The meatball was tender and also had great flavor. We both enjoyed our visit and I hope to make back soon when we are craving Italian food. read more

Jessie and Nadia provided tremendous service and food recommendations since this was our first time here. Portions are great and everything is delicious. We will definitely be back. We came for our Anniversary and this place did not disappoint! From the ambience to the service to the food, everything was top notch! Nadia was our server and she was fun and delightfully! She offered us great recommendations and her service was impeccable. Joe was filling in as the manger and he checked in on our us and his team. It was packed, but they handled it with ease! What a fantastic meal!!! We started with the artichokes ( Carciofi al Tartufo ) for an appetizer. I loved these so much. Each bite of artichoke with crispy prosciutto and mozzarella... yum! My hubby ordered the (Bistecca) the NY Strip. His meal had fettuccine with spinach. The steak was cooked to perfection and the pasta was buttery creamy good. He ordered two sides, the mushrooms and the duck fat potatoes. DELISH I ordered the Pasta al Nero! Wow I've never had a black pasta before. I was very excited to try it . Went to eat here because social media made it look so good and a must try place. We went and i will give you the pros & cons. Pros: 1. The atmosphere was cute with the love decor. 2. They gave us complimentary wine while we waited since the wait was almost 2 hours but were told it would be 40 minutes. 3. My plate was good, I ordered the Bronx Pollo Parmigiana. Cons: 1. The menu was limited we asked for the meatballs they said we don't have that, we asked for lasagna they didn't have it. The menu was not what we saw online. 2. My husband ordered the fettuccine with chicken and it was covered in mushroom (he can't eat mushroom). They apologized like 20 times and remade the order but i was already done with my food by the time his remake came out. 3. The area inside is small and crowded and they have a lot of staff just standing in the front check in area blocking people from walking to their tables. 4. The womens bathroom smelled like a urinal, i had to hold my breath. Overall, I would not go back. Food was just ok and overpriced. We both said we should have gone to Olive Garden and would have better food and it would have been better priced. read more

The Food was Great! My Husband was took me out for a late celebration . The service was impeccable ! Our server was (Alize) she was so ready to celebrate with me, as we talked our Birthdays We are a day apart. It was definitely Scorpio season in the restaurant. Ambiance was beautiful. First off as you pull up to the location, the outdoor decoration will definitely catch your eye, very romantic and unique (especially for Valentine's Day). The atmosphere is very homie when you walk in, as well as the out side the indoor decoration is so much more, it's unique, warm, and homie all in one! Also dont be thrown off by its crowded surroundings, there's nothing but laughter and conversation. When we got there there is a waitlist, but I must say a 30 minute wait turned into a 15-20 wait time! No complaints there! We got our message saying table was ready and got seated right away. Im not sure were to start, the service from start to finish was amazing! Our waiter was very attentive and honestly knew how to please customers! Ive also never been to a restaurant where the owner introduced themselves and carried conversation with us through out the night! The food was soooo amazing I have no complaints, definitely well thought out menu from wine selections to deserts I'd say this is definitely the best restaurant I've been to! Flavors were so great and presentation was a 10 its self! If you want authentic Italian food with that wholesome family oriented as well as that romance , I'd definitely recommend this restaurant no matter what the occasion! Enjoyed my meal at Mare e Monte. The place was beautifully decorated and elegantly lit. Staff was incredibly attentive, and very eager to please. Food was good; a bit on the pricey side. Portions were great. The owner introduced himself, was incredibly friendly, and recommended some good wines. However, I have to say I wasn't blown over. Food was a bit on the bland side, pasta sauce was grainy, and our waiter interrupted our conversation too many times. They also came and saying happy birthday to a friend and offered her a free vanilla ice cream, which was very tasty. I completely understand being attentive to the table, but this was a bit over.
