Decided to check this place out because it was new on Resy. I was a little hesitant at first because of the reviews on Yelp but I think the rating did this place justice. I think this place was an old pharmacy converted to a restaurant so it brought a nice old timey feel blended with some modernization. Vibes were chill. Our server was attentive and made sure our waters were filled. Service was pretty quick tbh. Food was very good. If you're looking for reasonably priced Italian dining, this is the place to go. There is no spaghetti on the menu. Pizzas are listed on one side of the menu, pasta dishes, salads and appetizers on the other side. I ordered the rigatoni all a vodka and the husband ordered a fettuccine with some crumbled sausage and peas in a creamy tomato sauce. They were both OK. Garlic bread is $12 for four slices. We passed. The free bread is sourdough, I think. It's a bit dry. The butter helped some. No more gelato. They have cannoli and cheesecake. They need to put on their website that reservations are required. We showed up @ 5:30 and the hostess asked if we had reservations, I said no because we've been there on many occasions. What was so upsetting was that all the booths were empty. read more

Came out for happy hour and what a treat! The beer was $3 off and there were appetizer specials. Everything was on happy hour except the calamari and the pizza. All were delicious. Unfortunately the bread that came out with the meatballs was burned. But we had so much food it was fine. The service was great. Alex was our server and he was amazing. Been going to the original Broadway location for several years before they moved to Olmos with never any issues--always great pizza for takeout . We decided to try dining at the Olmos location tonight. The positive: pizza--a must. Crust is amazing and really great flavor and the Large was more than enough for two of us. The atmosphere is nice and warm and relaxed. The cons: the worst calamari we have ever had. Sooo rubbery--not made to order and definitely frozen. The staff--the manager (on his phone sitting at the bar) and four staff members sitting around him chatting and never anyone checking to see how our appetizer was. We waited for several more minutes with empty glasses to finally have someone come up and ask us if we wanted refills before we received our pizza. As mentioned, pizza was great, but again, no one checked on us throughout the course of us eating that. Finally, our server came up and started taking our silverware as I still had pizza on my plate. I told her that I wasn't done and she proceeded to place the fork that she touched back o to my plate. I immediately told her that I did not want the same fork and that we were still eating. After a couple minutes, we decided we just wanted to leave and asked for the check and the same server came by to slam the check down on our pizza box. I am appalled by the service and seeing most of the staff hanging out at the bar drinking coffee and not tending to guests. We will never eat dine-in here again! Hidden gem alert!! My sister sent me a TikTok about this place. The restaurant is actually inside the abandoned Olmos Pharmacy building off McCullough!! I had no idea, I thought it was still a pharmacy. Very laid back and nice environment inside. I went for the lunch special and it did not disappoint! I got a side house salad, bread and butter, and huge bowl of spaghetti and meatballs for under $13 after tax/before tip. Definitely a bang for your buck! About the same price as fast food these days! I paid $35 for a pizza and went in to pick up and they couldn't find the order. 2nd time this has happened in a week. Eder, who claims he owns the place, said I was trying to get free food. Such a disappointing experience I would NEVER go here again. He was insulting, dismissive and took my money and never gave me my food. We came here during the recent freeze here in SA. I'm assuming it was due to the weather but the restaurant was pretty dead. We were the only ones in the restaurant around 2pm. First impressions were good! Our waitress was pretty friendly and the vibe of the place was nice. A little dark, but in a cool way! We ordered off the lunch menu and honestly, I think I should've just tried the pizza. I had heard from a few friends this was their favorite pizza but my wife and I thought the lunch specials looked really good! They were alright. The pasta was good, but it wasn't exceptional. The sauce was a little heavy and had more of an Alfredo taste. The spaghetti with the parm was ok, the sauce was pretty basic standard red sauce. The calzone was a little underwhelming. I enjoyed the crust but the stuffing lacked the flavor I was hoping for. The marinade they gave to dip was delicious though! It came with a side salad and a soda/tea. Overall, a solid choice for the price! They've undergone so many changes, the biggest is moving from their old location on Broadway to the Olmos pharmacy building off of Hildebrand. We recently had Volare host our daughter's graduation dinner. To simply state "we had a great time" is an understatement. Some of the dishes we ordered included: pizza, chicken Parmesan, pasta with shrimp, and chicken Alfredo. All were delicious. However, the praise must be also given to their staff. All were very attentive, prompt, and courteous. Although we ended up with a few more guests that we initially anticipated, Volare accommodated us all. Amid other dinner reservations in this quaint restaurant, the staff were determined to seat our party in one area together. That is the epitome of customer service and Volare is the perfect example. Moreover, there was some first timers in our group, who based on this experience, indicated they would definitely be return customers. Although my family has eaten here in the past, this was the first time we had a large gathering there. Great restaurant which I have passed several time but only recently starting going. We enjoy the dim lighting for a nice date night. The majority of pasta dishes we have gotten were good with the exception of a mushroom pasta dish which I felt was not as described. The sauce did not have much flavor and was heavy of cream.
