Came to Crab City today on a very cold day.... But I'm glad we did. The restaurant recently changed ownership and rebranding. But I've always been curious because the building itself is shaped like a boat. The exterior looks a little sketchy at first glance, but don't let that stop you. I'd definitely still give this place a chance. Once inside, they fully commit to the boat theme, which I actually really enjoyed. It's nautical and fun. We were greeted pretty quickly when we walked in. Our group ordered half-shell oysters, baked Cajun oysters, a shrimp po' boy, and a catfish po' boy. The baked Cajun oysters were my favorite and all of us unanimously agreed the fries were some of the best we've had in a while. Perfectly crispy. The shrimp and catfish in the po' boys were deep-fried with a classic cornmeal breading. It was pretty standard, but satisfying. One unexpected and cool touch is that they serve beer... and soju. I've never seen soju at a seafood/Cajun/crab boil spot before, so that was a fun surprise and a nice change from the usual drink options. Overall, a solid experience with good food, friendly service, and a memorable theme. Even if the outside makes you hesitate, it's worth checking out. read more

I know this place used to be Dry Oyster Dock and I never had any problems with them so I decided to try this restaurant that took its place. I ordered the catfish plate. I ordered in person (since it's just a couple minutes away from my house) and waiting about 10-15 minutes before my food came out. Please note: there are no food substitutes The plate comes with 3 filets, fries, and hush puppies. The flavor of the fish seemed off to me, not in a bad way but in a weird way like that put something sweet in their fry batter. I also have to point out that this is not true catfish, it seems like it's Swai. That could be the reason why it didn't taste like catfish and the texture didn't hold up as well either. While the staff were super friendly, I wouldn't say this would be a regular spot for me to visit. Maybe I'll try something else and update my review. read more

Crap city took over when the Dry Dock closed after 4+ decades of service! I recently went in during "happy hour" which is supposed to be from 3 to 6, and had a dozen and a half oysters and two draft shiner bocks! Two people were working - the lady behind the counter and the gentleman in the kitchen. Not many people there but it was early The oysters and the beer were good. I asked the lady behind the counter if there was a happy hour and she said yes. But there is no happy hour menu, no happy hour flyer, and really no happy hour prices that are advertised. She didn't offer to tell me what was happy hour or not. Suggestion: if you're going to say you have happy hour provide a happy hour menu so people will know what that means and what is being discounted for the happy hour purpose. The price I paid for my 18 oysters and my two beers was market price and it was good. I just don't get why you say there is a happy hour when there doesn't appear to be one? It would be better if you didn't advertise that you had happy hour rather than a false sense of that. It really smacks a false advertising! Just a suggestion.! read more

The main problem this place has right now is AIR CONDITIONING! It's 100 degrees out and we Texans like to be cool while we eat. The bar area was way too hot to be comfortable, even with the fans on. The server said it's like that every day. Ugh. I did notice that it was cooler in the back after I got up to go to the restroom, but by then we were already seated and had ordered. We decided to pretend that we were actually at a beachside bar sitting outside. It didn't work. We were sweating bullets by the time we finished eating, and were extremely uncomfortable. I noted that there was only one other person in the restaurant other than us. We did not get the boil or oysters, so I cannot speak to those dishes. We did get the fried catfish/shrimp platter and it was good. The batter on both the fish and shrimp was not overbearing or too heavy. The cocktail and tartar sauces were somewhat bland, but the French fries were good. I had eaten there a few times when it was Dry Dock and it really isn't much different now. The best thing I can say is that if it were indeed a beach bar located on a beach, it would be fine. But when there are so many other great options for seafood in our town, it is mediocre at best. I probably won't go back. Maybe a carry out if I get another craving for fried food. And they charge a fee for using a credit card which annoys me. I don't carry around a bunch of cash and if they can't figure out how to process credit cards and still make a profit, that's not my problem. Sorry, but it comes right out of the tip. read more

We first came on Saturday we had fried shrimo and French fries. The reason I didnt give 5 stars my husband is diabetic. They dont do subitutes. So he could get coleslaw in place of French. So they were wasted. There is only one restroom stall for women Id guess for men also? The restroom was very roomy and clean. The lunch special is $13 for half pound of shrimp, corn, 1 big potatoes and 1 corn. The shrimp were big. Im from SE Louisiana. Otherwise this may not bother you? They dont devine the shrimp. See photo for information on that. It was so so messy. Next visit I will ask for sauce on the side. This will help alot. I dont drink anything carbonated. So ice tea is important to me. I have been several times to the previous Dry Dock which I watched it going downhill throughout the last couple of years. Now Crab City is open which I am wondering if it is the same owner as I read online in an article I decided to give it a chance and of course wanting to always eat crawfish that was the main thing I ordered. The lady who served us is extremely friendly and sweet! Finally a change from all the bad service and attitude from the last waitress I always got from the previous restaurant The restaurant is empty which also made me wonder how long it will survive The ambiance is still the same... even the decor hasn't changed Now about the food... nothing really to talk about.
