Breakfast the Chicken and the Egg
Maxine L.

Airy little brunch spot. Street parking was definitely doable for us. We came for brunch and were seated right away. I'm a sucker for small portions, so i ordered the onesie with the cheeky French toast (banana filling). The French toast was interesting; deep fried, so super crispy throughout. The cooked banana flavor isn't super strong, and is all kinda mush with the inside soft bread. Interesting concept, but I prefer the traditional French toast lol. Bacon and egg were pretty standard. My partner had the chicken and the egg sandwich. It was pretty good! The scrambled egg was super thin, so not sure if it was super standout. Service was really quick and nice. Overall, pretty standard spot, nothing that stands out.

Moco Meatloaf Loco Moco, fry bread with onesie breakfast, garden omelette

We came here for breakfast and I wanted to try the fry bread. It was a little different from the fry breads I've tried in past and resembled more of a zeppole. I made a breakfast sandwich out of the meal I ordered .

Cheeky French Toast Brunch

Came here on a Saturday morning and were seated right away! If you get takeaway, you order at the counter and if you eat there, you're seated and someone comes to take your order. We got the cheeky french toast with berries and the loco moco. The loco moco has been one of the best I've had in Seattle so far! I loved that there was a lot of gravy and the meat was so flavorful. The french toast was good, a bit too sweet for me. I'd come here again for the loco moco!

Cheeky Cafe is a well known neighborhood cafe! We had heard lots about this cafe and wanted to give it a try! First off when you walk it, the atheistic and environment is very cute and simple. There is about 15 tables and immediately you feel like you are at home. As you walked to the counter to order the menu is projected on the board no QR code which I love. There is all day breakfast and lunch. My friends were raving about the spam and eggs so we ordered two. It was delicious. I ordered the BELT (bacon, egg, lettuce and tomato). I opted out of the bacon and replaced it chicken sausage. It was amazing. The sandwich was placed in two thick slices of toast and comes with a garlic aioli on the bread. The sauce was so good I order an extra side of it. We also ordered a Chai latte, orange juice and some tea! Cheeky Cafe is definitely going to be in our new breakfast spot rotation! I can't wait to try more on the menu! Come to Cheeky's if you want that home style local neighborhood spot!

So much onion

Cheeky Cafe has been around for a while, one of the good spot for Brunch. I normally would get the Fresh Toast but this time I wanted to try the Omelet and it was entirely different than what I'm use to. Definitely use to more veggie being mixed in but this one the veggie are stuffed in. I don't mind onion and mushroom but felt like there was too much !? Maybe but thats My opinion but I enjoyed the company, environment and the workers.

Veggie omelet and French toast

Came here on a whim after arriving in Seattle and so glad we did! Great service, cozy ambiance and I had an amazing veggie omelet packed with mushrooms, onions, spinach, tomatoes, and cheddar. Super tasty! My son had the French toast and was happy.

Spicy Mac + Eggs

3.5 Good value for the fun options! American//Asian fusion breakfast food. The serving staff was sweet! Albeit a bit slow, they sat us but then didn't bring waters or check in for 15 minutes and it was a hot day and we walked so that was a bit discouraging at first, but then the food came quickly once we got our order in! It was also brunch, there wasn't a wait but it was maybe busier than usual (I have no reference). I got the side salad with Caesar and it was weirdly good for how simple it was! The spicy mac was a great serving size, but could definitely use more kimchi and the sauce itself wasn't super thick so the kimchi juice made it a bit watery at the bottom. My friend loved her spam and eggs! In sum: can't really complain because for Seattle these were great prices!!! Super cute spot inside with high ceilings, felt like a queer-friendly space where some tables were clearly there to hang out and I love that.

Meatloaf Loco Moco

Didn't look like much but the loco moco meatloaf was so good! The gravy was incredible! I love the small mom and pop vibe here and the unique Asian fusion recipes. The owners were really sweet and made sure our water was filled and that we had all the sauces we needed. This was one of my favorite restaurants that I visited on my trip to Seattle

Had to wait like 40 mins before getting a table for 2, which was surprising since this place has more of a diner vibe. We thought people would have been in and out quicker. After we ordered, it made more sense though, since it took a while for our food to come out. We ordered an omelet, carbonara, a chai latte, and coffee. The hash browns were way too dry and didn't have any hold to them at all. The omelet and carbonara were good though. Would have rated higher if it hadn't taken so long to get a table and get food.

Always looking for new good breakfast places. I don't know why it's so hard to find more. The menu at Cheeky Cafe looked exciting, breakfast food with a Hawaiian/Asian type flare. We were excited to try all the things. We had the fry bread, chili hash browns, cheeky pancake breakfast and the breakfast sandwich. I'm sad to report it was all just "ok". Nothing that I will leave thinking about and nothing to return to have anytime soon. If your just in the market for some "regular" food, this place is will fit the bill.

But it doesn't stop there. The moment you walk in, the hospitality hits you. Not forced, not fake. Real, warm, and ready. You feel like they've been expecting you. Now the food... this is where it gets serious. Whoever is in that kitchen is not just cooking. They are putting their soul on every plate. Every bite feels intentional. Nothing is over-seasoned. Nothing is missing. Just perfect balance, consistency, and flavor that makes you pause mid-bite like, "Hold on..." And the portions? Exactly what a Southern plate is supposed to look like. No shortcuts. No playing around. You're getting your money's worth and then some. I don't have pictures, and you'll understand why if you accidentally take a bite before you snap one. What really seals it is the vibe. The music is hitting. The energy is right. Before you know it, you're not just eating. You're enjoying the moment. Wally's isn't somewhere you just try. It's somewhere you go back to again and again. Once you find it, you already know. You don't just eat, You eat WELL. This place isn't good. It's necessary.

I didn't even remember where it was located but was intrigued when I learned it was in a micro-hood named Tanglewood. Salmon was very good, not dry but succulent; as well as the vegetables. The Hanger Steak was amazing. Almost everything was locally sourced and you can taste it. It all just seemed to work together in a uniquely Pacific Northwest kinda way. It's as though you were eating the outdoors. The owner met with us and gave us a history of the place, followed by his chef's cuisine philosophy. Just a really pleasant conversation. My only personal gripe is that some of the elevated presentations of the cuisine itself did not meld well with some of the rustic dishes; I think their presentation should appear slightly more 'nouvelle cuisine française' and less road-side diner in some dishes. Overall however, R Christine reminds me of the wonderful little hidden locovore spots throughout France that oftentime prove to be borderline Michelin star operations. Everything we ordered was pretty bland and under-seasoned, with no real standout flavors. For the price, I expected a lot more. Starting with the food, the shrimp and grits are creamy and packed with flavor, the eggs Benedict with bacon has perfectly poached eggs with a zippy crystal hollandaise, the waffle has a satisfying texture and comes with a comforting henny butter, and the best part that ties it all together: GARLIC. AIOLI. I have tasted many garlic aioli in my 28 years of life and this is by far the most delicious garlic aioli around. It's something I can't explain; you need to try it for yourself. With the breakfast potatoes, on the Benedict, in the shrimp and grits, by itself, I don't care, I just need it bottled up ASAP. As for the atmosphere, it's quite cozy and warm as a diner would be. I had to wait around 30 minutes both times I went because it was prime brunch time on Saturday and was fully worth the wait. I tell my non-Asian friends that they should leave an Asian restaurant if you don't see any Asians inside. I am happy to say we were the odd ducks in this place! Love me some legit soul food. The menu is straightforward. We ordered at the counter. The food is brought to our table. The food took quite a while with big crowds coming in after us. I suspect they cook in batches as multiple groups received food at the same time. It was mostly self-service (utensils, water) until the restaurant quieted down, then we saw servers cleaning tables, etc. The Food: Combo Dinner with two sides, $26 - 5 Stars The combo plat offers two meat choices. I chose the wings and catfish. The wings are sizable and plump. Highly recommend. The catfish was a thinner cut and a bit dryer. I liked the very thin breading on the catfish, not greasy, and it tasted good with Tabasco. For sides, both the collard greens and fried okra are excellent. In fact, I say the okra is perfection! The little corn bread is just right for me. I thought the corn bread has good flavor while hubby said it was too dry. Catfish Dinner with two sides, $24 - 3.5 Stars Hubby complained the catfish was too thin. He's not a Tabasco person, so that doesn't help. I gave him two wings to calm him down. Lol. He loved the hush puppies the best. They are huge with a wonderful crisp. I agree with him! He thought the yams are too sweet; they do look sweet in the liquids but isn't that want yams are intended to be? I think he just needs to order differently in the future. Note they have a 3.5% service charge for credit card purchases. See line on the menu photo.
