We got lured in this place by the pictures of their Loco Moco. We just drove in from Los Angeles and we were starving. This place really hit the spot and didn't know I'd be craving it til this day. Meatloaf Loco Moco- Meatloaf over white rice. Served with gravy and an egg on top. (10.95) Delicious and looks small, but will actually fill you up. Usually you'll get a loco loco with burger bun looking things, but this one was different. Surprisingly, probably the best one I've tried in a long time. Cheeky French Toast - Stuffed and fried filled with pastry cream and berries. (12.95) They also offer it with banana, chocolate, or peanut butter. I opted for the berries because it seemed the right choice for me at that time. It is served with a side of eggs and bacon. Also seemed like a little but of food until you start eating and realize it is indeed enough. This was delicious and not too sweet. Sometimes with sweet breakfast items, it can be super sweet. This review is for 3 experiences since I have dined in, picked up take out, and now have ordered delivery through Yelp! First Experience: I got to dine in last year just before the lockdown started again and I had a great experience! The atmosphere and vibes were very inviting and relaxing. i was comfortable and able to work from my laptop while eating. I just periodically would pause while eating and wear my mask while chewing and typing. :) There's hand sanitizer by the door and the employees wore masks and masks are required. The whole place was clean including the bathrooms. I noticed a line a for their lunch rush as they are popular for being so delicious! The workers kept cleaning in between customers and were also very friendly. I think this place is family owned and they seem like a nice humble family that happily runs this place actually enjoying their business! Second Experience: I decided to pick up takeout on the way home from work as I was too tired to put anything together myself craving something fresh from a restaurant instead. I let them know I would be there in about 10 minutes and my order was ready when I arrived. I added on a Corona beer just for the humor of the virus' name and all... The gal behind the counter was very nice and fast and had her mask on and everything! :) Third Experience: I ordered delivery through Yelp (I'm so over Doordash drivers messing up one after the other) and left clear and simple instructions to come to my door. I stood by my phone just in case they needed to call but NOPE! The driver quickly and quietly dropped it directly at my door!!! This made my night before even eating because SO many other delivery drivers from other places have ended up on another street, at another building, or made me meet at the door or even out on the sidewalk! It was SUPER NICE to simply be able to open my door and my order was just there! I did NOT have to put on a robe over my pajamas and my slippers to go all the way down to the lobby of the apartment building or out to the sidewalk! Bless this place! I ordered the chicken caesar salad with a lemon slice (simple and classic, yeah, I know... but SO good and I love a fresh crunchy salad) for all 3 experiences and I included an order of their wings on the third experience with their delivery through Yelp. The wings were also very good even though they are not crispy they are breaded with a slight crunch and soaked in a yummy sauce! I'm guessing a sweet chili sauce? And the portions here are generous for any size salad in my opinion! I'm thankful this place is in my neighborhood and I will definitely be a regular! Who would've thought that mac and cheese would taste so good with kimchi. I came here for this once two or three years ago, and the dish was literally cheesy mac and cheese with some kimchi on top. They changed it up now though. This time, the mac and cheese was pink, not yellow. And the mac and cheese itself was spicy. I'm guessing they add kimchi juice to the mac and cheese now. You can still taste the cheese, but it would be better if it was a little cheesier. Meatloaf loco moco ($10.95): 5/5. I've never tried loco moco, so I can't really compare. Me and my friend Dharma went and we were so happy because it felt like a "local" place as in like it felt like we were back in Hawai'i and Guam. How have I lived one block away for over a year and only now discovered Cheeky Cafe?!? I've been here for weekend brunch twice now, and I'm anticipating I'll be back many more times in 2018. The food is tasty, the service is amazing, and the price is extremely affordable! On my first visit I got the BELT - bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato sandwich. Pretty standard, but I wasn't too hungry at the time. The second visit though... went in starving and got the Loco Moco!! Meatloaf over rice, smothered in gravy, topped with an egg cooked the way you like it! Deeeelicious! My bf had the chichek fried steak, which was a bit spicy for my liking but flavorful and crispy on the outside. Comes with a handmade biscuit and hashbrowns. Plus, the entrees are big and I couldn't finish all of mine! I'll definitely be back sometime in the near future. Good quality food and decent prices in the Seattle brunch scene. The menu has a fun hodgepodge of selections from pasta carbonara to meatloaf loco moco but I was unadventurous and chose the onesie with a matcha cheeky cake substitute. I also got the egg poached and it was conveniently placed in a tiny cup so the yolk didn't have to mix with my pancake. The pancake was good and fluffy and had a nice flavor with the matcha sprinkled on top. The bacon was nice and crispy too! My friend had the veggie omelette, which he enjoyed with french toast. Even though it was a Saturday morning, it wasn't too crowded here which was a plus though even if it was, the service was relatively quick, accommodating, and friendly (maybe the food came out a *bit* slow but not too bad overall) and the restaurant itself seemed large enough to seat several tables. The food here was quite delicious, but be prepared to wait. We didn't have to wait for a table for 4 around 2 on a Saturday, but it took about 45 minutes for our food to come out. We were already hungry, and everything smelled great, but it was definitely a wait. I got the lemon poppyseed pancakes, which could have used more lemon flavor, but they were well cooked. Also a fan of the vegetarian patty option instead of bacon. I was also able to substitute the eggs for a biscuit, which was more like a scone, and really good! Sweeter than a normal biscuit, but flaky and delicious. Overall, good prices (traditional French toast was $9.95, my lemon poppyseed pancakes were $12.95), good food, just be prepared to wait. I see from the Yelp reviews that Cheeky Café has been around for at least five years, and I only discovered it now. What I've been missing out on all these years.... I came here earlier this week to pick up some takeout for JP and me. Cheeky Cafe has a huge menu, and everything we ordered was ultra tasty. They definitely have a solid set of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner here. I know where we are coming for brunch next time. But before I go any further, I must tell you that you need to bring your patience to Cheeky Cafe. Yes, the food is great, but the time it takes to get your order is excruciatingly slow! For my first visit to Cheeky Café, I ordered oxtail soup, pasta carbonara, Wendy's Fried Rice and sweet potato fries. The oxtail soup (listed on a sandwich board outside the restaurant as a daily special) was an impulse purchase, based on the memories of an oxtail soup a girlfriend made for me thirty years ago. Cheeky's oxtail soup, containing onions, tomato and carrot was perfection, seasoned wonderfully. The non-greasy sweet potato fries were excellent. But even better was the delicious thick dipping aioli sauce that came with the fries. That aioli was fantastic! Cheeky Café's Wendy's fried rice, served with Portuguese sausage and bits of scrambled egg was another excellent dish. But, I loved the pasta carbonara the best. The sauce, or oils, or whatever it was that they coated the pasta with, was out-of-this-world tasty. And I loved the generous amount of bacon that Cheeky Café added to this dish. Highly recommended!! Definitely expect a hearty meal when you come here! I was blown away by the size of my chicken fried steak when it came... but I was craving it, so I couldn't just not order it for brunch. My friends had the meatloaf sandwich w/ sweet potato fries and the meatloaf loco moco. All dishes were HUGE portions for a reasonable price. The menu said that everything on my chicken fried steak plate was made from scratch. Mmm, I love knowing that everything was made with love. The biscuit had a sweet kick to it, maybe it was some honey? It was pretty darn tasty. I thought the grav was a little bland but the chicken fried steak was huge and crispy! Delightfully delicious. The sweet potato fries were really yummy as well! My favorite part of Cheeky Cafe has to be the interior and decor of the restaurant. It's located at a nice little corner with ample street parking around. They have the cutest teal/aquamarine color on their walls and adorable upside whisk-looking lights (?)... they also reminded me of bird cages which was cute because of all the chicks and bird decor around. This place is like a cross between an old-school diner and a school cafeteria! Besides Cheeky Cafe, there are quite a bit of good eateries in this area known as Northern ID. When I walked into Cheeky Cafe, I felt like I was back in Oahu! The place definitely has a very chill vibe on one face and a not-so-chill vibe with the cooks in the back frantically cooking on the other face. Another Hawaii-ish attribute are some of the dishes: spam with eggs, fried rice with Portuguese and Chinese sausage, and mac and cheese with kimchi. My buddy and I got the last two dishes listed and also an appetizer of chicken wings! At first glance when the chicken wings came out, we were kind of skeptical, but upon first bite "oh man it's so good!" was our initial thought. The wings were uniquely flavored with this red sauce on top that I still can't ascertain what it is, but it was good. The fried rice was solid. I never had fried rice with Portuguese sausage, but it ended up meshing well with the Chinese sausage. The kimchi gave the mac and cheese a little kick, so I give the place props for attempting that kind of fusion. We tried getting the famous dumplings, but they were sold out! I think this is a great little cafe that has a ton of food that I like. It's kind of hard to describe the type of food they serve but I would probably say hawaiian/korean/japanese fusion. I've been here twice - once for dinner and brunch. They have a lot of things to choose from and it was pretty hard to choose from. For dinner - we got several smaller dishes just to try different things. Mac & cheese kimchi, okonomiyaki, balsamic mushrooms, and Kam's dumplings. The mac and cheese went really nicely with the kimchi. I normally have okonomiyaki with noodles so I wish there were some in this dish. It was just two pancakes. The balsamic mushrooms were okay and Kam's dumplings reminded me of the footballs you get at dim sum. That's probably the best way to describe them if you have any idea what I'm talking about :) For brunch - It was really hard to choose but my boyfriend and I chose the cheeky cakes filled with green tea, 2 sides of bacon, and 2 over easy egg. The green tea wasn't overpowering in the pancakes and the bacon was cooked to perfection! We also got the breakfast sandwich - english muffin, scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheddar served with sweet potato fries. Delicious!!!! The bacon really made the sandwich. The servers are super smiley and friendly. The chef actually comped our Kam's dumplings because one of them was burnt, which was really nice! The server said the chef is picky of what comes out of her kitchen. Nothing really hit the spot as much as brunch did. Their dinner is okay! I didn't try the larger entrees, so I'll give that a shot next time. I also want to try the meatloaf loco moco next time that is on their brunch menu. read more

This is probably my favorite places to eat in Seattle. Admittedly I always get the Carbonara because it's my favorite thing to eat there but I always encourage whoever I go with to try different things on the menu (so I can try a bite hehe). So far everything I've tried a bite of besides the carbonara has been really good - Loco Moco, Cheeky french toast stuffed with bananas, berry pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, garden omelette, even their cappuccinos are so good!!! I think my favorite part about this place though (besides the super affordable prices and delicious meals) is that it feels very homey. Different than what we are expecting, in a good way. Huge portion. The gravy is brown and tasty, again different :) It also came with a biscuit that was more like a rectangular, soft sweet bread. Wow! Veggie Quiche with Spring Mix salad and a side of Spam - the quiche was a big portion, silky texture, perfect consistency. The crust had a slight sweet flavor, complementing the caramelized onion in the quiche. The spam was fried and was extra. Breve Latte with caramel - happy dance! :) They have a crazy eclectic menu. Very good Island comfort food here. I had the meatloaf moco loco and was pleased with my order. The meatloaf was spicy but not at all overpowering. Creative and tasty Asian fusion! I ordered delivery yesterday and got the chicken wings, kimchi Mac and cheese, and Japanese curry. I definitely liked the chicken wings the best -- it was the perfect combination of sweet and salty. It probably would've been even better at the store, because mine was less crunchy because of delivery (still great though). Japanese curry was pretty standard but delicious (such tender beef and carrots!!). The kimchi Mac and cheese could've definitely been cheesier/creamier. The service was really prompt which we appreciated since we were dining with a baby. We were seated at a table that was for ten so it was kinda awkward sitting every other chair...or right next to each other. Not a huge deal, just a little strange. I got the chicken fried steak and I should've looked at pictures because instead of a pounded flat steak, it was more like thin steak strips that were breaded. And when I say thin, it was THIN. There was more breading than steak. It was tender though which was surprising because I figured it would've been dried out. I also thought chicken fried steak usually has country gravy but there's was a brown gravy. No big deal, still tasty. I wasn't a huge fan of the gravy being poured all over the dish (on top of the hash browns and part of the biscuit) but it all mixes once it gets to the belly anyways.
